I know this guild supports the movie... I kind of do too. Its opened Phantom up to the public, more people are aware of it now. But I simply cannot be the only one who is annoyed with the type of phans its attracted! The reason I'm just ranting about it now is because I just found this ... http://phantom.obsess-much.com/index.php No! Thats wrong! Thats completely and utterly not what you're suppose to get from Eriks character. Now, I wouldn't mind it if they made some "physical fanlisting" for a character that is unattractive... to each his/her own, but the entire plot of PotO is based around the fact that the character Erik is god-awful ugly!! I wish that site had a forum, so I could just post something like This, and ask them if they're all still interested in his physical appearance pirate Ahem... sorry for that rant. Anyone else have experiences with this that they need to vent about too?

Well, the thing is, to attract more people they had to make the Phantom at least a little sexy, not like in the silent movie. In the silent movie the Phantom scared the s**t outta me...

Psst! He is not supposed to be sexy. In any way. If he is sexy, he is not Erik. He is supposed to be entirely repulsive, at least physically. There is not one single sexy bone in his body. The reason Christine falls for him is because she feels for him at last, not because she's like "Oh wow...he's so damn hot with the mask on!"
Get it straight, people.

Alexis Of Shadow Psst! He is not supposed to be sexy. In any way. If he is sexy, he is not Erik. He is supposed to be entirely repulsive, at least physically. There is not one single sexy bone in his body. The reason Christine falls for him is because she feels for him at last, not because she's like "Oh wow...he's so damn hot with the mask on!" Get it straight, people. Couldn't have said it better myself! Bravo! (Btw, I wasn't sure if it belonged in the movie thread or not... oh well, if someone decides to close it, I can easily repost it there)

Prima-~-Ballerina He is supposed to look somewhat sexy so you know why Christine actaully falls for him. But Christine doesn't fall for him because of how he looks ;.; The new movie doesn't convey this very well at all.

Maybe if the other half of his face had been simply average, and his sexiness was only seen through his body-language and voice (though in the movie i thought Raoul''s sounded a bit better...) her seduction would have made more sense.
But that was only one of many problems with the movie... For example, Christine''s cleavege when she visits her father''s grave. Nipples are an extremity, and will freeze off from frostbite. It has happened.

I was brought to phandom with the 2004 movie. I remember that, when watching it, one of my main thoughts was "hell, even without the mask, many girls would drool for him!" Though back then, a small deformity was enough to make everyone hate it, so it was kinda justiable...
Anyway, my point is, right after watching the movie I read the Leroux book, and the fact that Erik is ugly as hell was into my head soon enough. I think that those 2004 movie fans should take a quick look at PotO's original roots before posting crap like that. They like Gerry's looks, not Erik's. And they didn't even mention the name "Erik" in the 2004 movie, so they could have at least said "We love the Phantom's looks!". Saying "Erik" proved that they are extremely ignorant, since this means that they read/watched other PotO media, and Erik is ugly in most of them...

Ooooooh, I can. I've been exposed to fangirl yells many time. Happens very often when you say you dislike mainstream anime like InuYasha, Naruto, etc. But I hope that the picture in the first post will scare them away.
