Angaza:
Angaza limped towards the area slowly. He'd made note of it well, mind tracing to the strange female slowly. So interesting... An intellegent conversation, and not with Fritt or Sabola or Bozi.
It was a nice change. Arriving slowly, he looked around, before moving a stone he'd used to mark the hiding place of the second half of his kill.
He'd never once thought of hiding a find, but it seemed to work, and be began pawing at the soft Earth, searching for his food. All the same, he rose every few moments, looking for the female he'd met before.
Lucia:
She would come about partway through his digging. She'd spoken with Taban about her leaving. Not for long- she assured him, just for a night or two perhaps. Sleeping alone was never much of a good idea, but in a troupe consisting of mainly big cats and a maned wolf...her present mindstate and condition were a bit embarassing.
She had found a patch of thick grass to lay in during the daytime. It was within earshot of the kill so she could keep an eye on it well enough.
The scraping claws had caught her attention and once more the female loped her way casually towards the buried kill. "Well I see you've made it back in one piece."
Angaza:
Angaza looked up, and smirked coyly.
"As I said I would. Was there doubt?" He asked smugly, and stretched out some before resuming his digging before sitting, meal partially exposed.
After all, he didn't rely on strength-- with his size, that was suicide. Instead, he relied on brain.
Lucia:
"I can't say I doubted you." She moved over towards the kill and started pulling dirt off it as soon as he stopped. Understandable, the pride lands were far from here...to her understanding the hyenas that lived in the bone yard weren't too far off from that area.
"But I'm the sort to expect the worst and fight for the best."
Angaza:
"Always the best idea. Then you're prepared."
Angaza helped, moving carefully. Yes, it was still intact. Excellent. The male studied the female, before ripping a good size of meat-- including the leg-- off, and tossed it to Lucia.
"You helped, and there's plenty... Have some."
He grunted slowly. She wasn't a theif... So he didn't mind.
Lucia:
"Well thank you." she bent down and tore at the chunk she'd been given. Thankfully she'd had time to hunt a bit for herself. It was mating season so the meerkat dens were full of tender little pups to munch on. A capable hyena could take advantage of that situation quite easily. But she'd never turn down a snack. No preditor would.
"The others in your charge are well then?"
Angaza:
"Yes." Gaza chuckled. "Their quite well."
He dug in himself. With the other two fed, he could eat himself... A tasty prospect really, one he could adjust to.
Lucia:
She licked her chops clean and watched him eat. He was skinny...the meal would do him good. He didn't seem to be the youngest of male either. She didn't seem to have anything to add to the conversation, and if he were to look up he'd note that she seemed more keen on looking him over than anything.
Angaza:
Angaza didn't take long to notice, and he glanced up, curiously, one 'eye brow' rising slightly.
"Something the matter?"
Lucia:
She smirked a bit. "You said you had no mate. I find that interesting."
Angaza:
"Howso?" He blinked slowly. Was it a crime?
Angaza rose from eating, studying her a bit.
"Is it odd a male my age should be mateless?" He remained calm.
Lucia:
"No." she shook her head a bit, "But it is a pity. I never took a mate myself. When I was ready to, my pack was dispursed. A man packwith thunder sticks killed our alpha. I was wounded, so I was no longer considered fit to breed."
Angaza:
Angaza studied Lucia, then sat.
"My mother was alpha to a pack in a man-pack called a city. They fed and cared for us."
He frowned.
"But some came from this wild place, and were ungrateful to the two-leggeds. They showed them strength. And the two-leggers sent anyone weaned but not old to this place. I could have had anyone. I only touched a female once. But I doubt much came of it. She was a friend."
He wnt quiet. He understood losing the pack one was born to.... Unpleasant it was
Lucia:
Lucia frowned. She had no love for the two-legged beasts that carried the thunder sticks. It didn't seem... realistic to think that any of them would care for the four-legged creatures. Hyenas least of all. Bai Feng had been a 'pet' to them as well. Perhaps it was more common than she thought.
"I won't lie." She turned and watched a few birds shoot out from the grass. "I came this far from my troupe to look for a male. My troupe took me in...but a hyena cannot bear young to a cheetah."
Angaza:
"I see." Angaza studied Lucia quietly. Reading her face... Trying to estimate her emotions.
"The Graveyard would be a poor place to look. Most of them swear by that Mafa, and those that don't, have pups."
He settled.
"But I have no pup nor loyalty to Mafa."
He added quietly. "Just the two I care for willingly."
Lucia:
"If I wanted to look for a mate in the graveyard I would have." She snorted. "I have no intention on joining a pack. Most especially with one with a fool for an alpha. I owe my life to my troupe... I am no fool myself. I know I am growing towards the end of my prime."
Angaza:
Angaza chuckled.
"Wiser words never spoken. Atleast you have the intellegence not to piss with lions.... A lesson I had to relearn."
He sighed, but then looked up.
"You know... I'm not exactly a young pup myself. and I don't know of many males... Around here."
Lucia:
She smirked. "Actually... I have a lion cub in my care. His father is loyal to our troupe leader. But we've learned to see beyond what our pelt dictates what we are. He's a good person."
At his second response she chuckled lightly, "You -are- a male. And I would not waste my time if I did not like what I saw."
Angaza:
Angaza listened to her describe the cub, and smiled gently. He was definaitely mellowing... There was a time he attacked one.... He regretted it deeply. The male gave Lucia a coy smirk.
"Well, it sounds like we may yet prove something between us, then...."
He looked coy.
"One, you aren't old, and two, I'm not weak. Neither os us, frankly. And it'll do the world some damn good to spread the intellegence about."
Lucia:
"I couldn't agree more." She licked her chops as she glanced back his way. "If you are willing... I can care for the pups away from your mafa. Our troupe has no loyalty to any. We are tactitians. Perhaps in time we may offer our assistance and fangs to seeing a wiser leader take the graveyard.'
Angaza:
Angaza grinned.
"Agreed... But I would... Like to see the pups sometimes myself.... Teach them some of my own tricks."
He moved to follow all the same. Safe from Mafa-- and Allies... He liked that.
Lucia:
She chuckled and nodded. "I would like them to know their father... perhaps you should meet the troupe first. At least our leader. If you approve...then we have an agreement."
Angaza:
"I believe we do."
He chuckled, following.
"And I'd GLADLY meet your leader..."
Lucia:
She chuckled, "He is...far from normal. So I have warned you." She turned and walked herself back towards the valley of the mistweavers. Taban had special interest there for now, and the cub was far too young to be moving as much as they liked to
