 The sun was at its highest in the sky as the large demonic otter stretched out beside the quick-moving river. Her near-sighted brown eyes were half closed as her assistant, a small, bearded squirrel named Chih-kai Hsu, chittered on about how successful he was in spreading the word that his Mistress was allowing others to share her territory. He spoke so fast and his language so cluttered as it was with his chitters, clicks, and whistles, it was a miracle that the large otter female understood him at all. One deep brown eye stared a bit at the squirrel as the other closed and she smiled ever so slightly, showing a row of sharp teeth just behind the tusks. "Yes, but did you receive any definite answers, Hsu?" she asked, her voice noticeably accented and a little deep for a female's voice. The squirrel nodded his head and waved his little paws about as he chittered back that indeed he had, that the ones who had thought to come live and work in her territory would be arriving any day now for his Mistress' inspection.

 Renkai trotted along the riverbank, tail swaying to and fro. He was nearing the end of his journey as he came to the south-eastern area of the reserve. Traveling with Jaydin had become much more simplistic after she came out of her clam. She was eager to learn just about anything. He certainly didn't think it to be appropriate for her to be raised by a half-eccentric pirate like Drake, nor live the lonesome life of a loner like Ketsueki. Jaydin never asked for much besides a companion. After the many weeks they had spent together, she seemed to look up to him as a father-figure. Renkai had helped her fish and gave her whatever they could use a shelter, but he felt it wasn't enough. 'Hope to a new, refreshing life...' he thought as he gazed along the river's shimmering surface. His daze was broken as a small, gray, coated figure darted past him with a young, winged otter chasing behind. "Come baaack!" Jaydin whinned as she gave chase to the mini otter know as Cap'n Flat Sails, or Sails, as she perferred to call him. "I swear I didn't mean to step on your tail!" Jaydin unfurled her wings from her sides as she tried to become airborne. Her attempt failed miserably as she barely flew 6 inches off the ground, only to land face-first into the dirt. Her whiskers drooped defeatedly as she pulled herself up. Sails stopped and turned at the sound of a body softly hitting the earth. He grinned as Jaydin seemed to attempt to fly... again. "Yer gonna be havin' to do better than tha', lass!" he called back to the dark angelic pup. The challenge put a glint of hope in Jaydin's eyes. Sails' paws lightly pelted the ground as the chase started up again.Renkai sighed. Flat Sails' presence was not necessary on the journey to the Pacific. He wouldn't stick around for much longer once they reached their destination anyway. At least the mini pirate kept Jaydin entertained... The dark male looked up as as the two small otters suddenly came to halt before a large, demonic, elegantly dressed female. He believed he recognized the squirrel as her assistant. Renkai quickly padded to Jaydin's side, bowing his head in deep respect. "Mistress," he murmured. "We have come a many mile away in hopes to live in your land. In return, we are willing to serve as your humble servants. I am Renkai, and this be my companion, Jaydin." He indicated to the angelic pup beside him with his tail.Jaydin, recognizing Renkai's sign of respect quickly did the same. She not dare lift her head in front of such an overwhelming presence as the Mistress'. She cast a side glance to Sails, who only seemed to be eyeing Chih-kai oddly.

Shih looked down her elegant muzzle at the sudden appearance of a pup before her, and a winged one at that. She was soon joined by an adult otter whom Hsu chittered and introduced as Renkai, a potential warrior, and his ward. The elder nodded and remained in her relaxed position, though she opened both eyes on the pair.
"You are welcome, Renkai," she addressed the male and looked to his ward. "And you as well, little one. Has Hsu made clear the Laws and possible occupations available to you?" Shih cast a glance at her companion. She had requested he explain everything, however she had known Hsu for a long time, since they were both much younger, and she knew very well that he tended to forget things.
Just another reason why she needed more assistants.

 Mustering up his slight reserves of confidence, Lysander took a deep breath and strode up to what he assumed was the leader of the territory he now hoped to call home. He'd nervously asked around and had received the answers he was looking for. He remembered them clearly. The smallish, skinny ruddy brown otter with orange paws had told him that here was a safe place, and the fat, old grey female otter had assured him that the largest, most powerful force in the territory was a female named Shih Ching and that she would never harm one as small and innocent as him. The blue-black otter with a lazy eye had said that he shouldn't sneak into the territory, but should introduce himself. As horrifying as that sounded to the shy pup, it was better than the alternative. Life as a juvenile vagabond did not appeal to him. He remembered the brown's directions well, and soon came across the place where it was said that the female would be. He recognized her immediately out of the assembled group. A winged female pup, a small beast that looked like an otter but was simply too small to be one, and an adult male also occupied the scene, but paled in comparison to the majestic female who lay apart, a dapper squirrel at her side. She addressed the others, and, since she seemed to be waiting for a reply, he said nothing.
