Simply put: Best concert of my life.
Got there, and talked to the singer from Suidakra outside. Met some cool guys in line, and laughed at posers who for some unexplainable reason found their way to a true metal show. I saw them at The Vault in Long Beach, a very nice club. I'd never been there, so it was new to me. The lighting and sound setup was very choice, but I found that the lights pointing into the crowd could get very annoying in the pit. The fans there made it very enjoyable, they were all into it, and for the most part, the kind of crowd you want at a show.
Suidakra: Got in the first pit, got elbowed in the face, enjoyed the rest of their set. They were very good, sounded better live then in studio, and I love their work. The singer repeatedly mentioned myspace, however.
Eluveitie: Very good performance. At times, when all instruments were blazing, it all blended together and sounded like a jumbled mess, but they were very fun.
Tyr: What to say? Amazing. Not exactly good live music, beings that they're so slow and mellow, but watching them perform is enough. Terji was drunk off his a** and had a very blank stare like he had no idea what was going on, but it was great. I got in the last pit, it was pretty decent, unlike the first gay one.
Turisas: Metal Hammer has nominated them for best live performance for a reason. The imagery, the energy, the music, all of it was great. During Rasputin, he split the crowd and did a "Competition". He never announced the winner, which was disappointing. I had my first crowd surf during their performance. I wanted to get closer to the stage, so I tapped a big fatty on the shoulder and said "Get me up!", and up I went. Seriously guys, greatest feeling on Earth!!!
Ensiferum: Decided to stay in the pit for the entirety of their performance, until I physically couldn't take it. That was during the second and third encore. They really did a great job. The energy was there, the crowd was into it, really a perfect performance. I crowd surfed again, can't go wrong there.
So basically, it slayed!!! Who else went?

I naturally wasn't there, but sounds like a pretty sweet festival! I saw Turisas last year at Tuska and they were ******** awesome, and the pit was crazy. I had to get out of there halfway through the gig, since I was being crushed. The only feeling worse than that was being in the middle of the front row to see Emperor last year also. That was almost pure agony, and you couldn't escape until the gig had ended. But it was all worth it. 3nodding
And I'm really jealous you saw Ensiferum! They've stopped coming to Tuska since 2004, and my first Tuska was 2005. stare

I know what you mean. Pits have forced me to sit out and enjoy from a distance before. I dig chicks who pit. Seriously.
Ensiferum was pretty bad a**. They played like, three encores. They kept teasing it as if the set was gonna end, and then they'd play another one. I like that in a band, they keep it exciting.

I met two of the people from Eluveitie, at Peganfest.
I met a few other people that day aswell. The weird thing is when Peganfest came to MA it was infused with two other concerts. Together at the same time I went to Peganfest, The New England Metal And Hardcore Fest, and Ministry's last tour. I was more happy about meeting all of UnexpecT and chatting with them for about fifteen to twenty minutes than talking with the two people from Eluveitie.

When I said nothing, Wacken and Grasspop, as well as Chicago Powerfest among others, were excluded.
