Yes, I know about the official Nintendo Seal of Quality but my mom bought me a GCN/GBA connector link from Mad Katz because it was cheaper. She had that right, after two days it died on me... but it wanted to scare the crap out of me first. When I turned on my Gamecube, the orange light turned on and I could hear the fan running but I couldn't get a picture or sound on the TV. I fidgeted with my Gamecube fro a while, trying to contemplate how I would make enough money to buy a new Gamecube when I decided to take all of the controller ports out of the system to see what that would do (one of which being the Mad Katz link) Instantly my Gamecube was better. I tried the link again and the Gamecube didn't come on. At this point I realized that the link was the problem and I threw it away.
So, does anyone else have any sad stories about second-rate products?

Off brand things are not usually spiffy and cool like Nintendo stuff...because off brand things are evil. scream

I usually find that Mad Catz is the best second party producer of console accessories. But as always, they have thier flaws. Sicne they are not developed by the original company who made the system, there is bound to be some problems.

In short, if you have the money, get the good stuff. If not, go for the second party, it's usually almost as good.

I actually have two Interact controllers that still hold up pretty good. Sometimes I even prefer them to my wavebird, because they have the rumble packs.

But yeah, buying nintendo-made accessories for a nintendo=made console is...usually a pretty good idea.

Mad Katz isnt evil...They just make low-quality products. That doesnt apply to everything, of course. I got Mad Katz Headphones for my DS, and they work pretty well. However, there was this incident with a madkatz GCN controller that lit on fire...

but that is another story xd

Mad Katz stuff usually works really, really well! Plus, they're making their first game to be a Gamecube exclusive, and its going to be like DDR! I can't wait!! heart

I have never gotten a product from a company other than Nintendo, except for one memory card.

BTW, MadCatz is evil because they produced that gay dancing game for the Gamecube. (My apologies if this statement offends any of you)

Gasp! I had no idea it was out, and when I read the reviews, it was nothing like I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be good, and more like DDR, and not some aerobics game with crappy music, and an even worse name.

I bought an action replay memory card and I put most of my memory onto and it somehow lost all of it! All together I think I lost at least 300-400 hours of gameplay.

Personally, my Mad Katz controller did start to screw up after a few days. The analog stick just kept starting to go to the left (on the game, not the actual stick), and that was really difficult in games where you need fast reflexes and the controller knocks you off balance.
There's also a boy that I babysit at times who got a PS2 for Christmas, and then he and his family didn't know why the memory cards they bought weren't detected by his games. I checked the memory cards, and not only were they Mad Katz, but they only had 122kb of space. Mad Katz is evil for even selling those, since probably at least 95% of all PS2 games take up at least twice that much space.
My Mad Katz GBA-GC/GBA-GBA cord works perfectly though. I've had no problem doing versus mode on several GBA games and my friends and I played through Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles with no problem (except for my mom being extremely annoying by finding things for me to do around the house).

eek ... wow... i feel lucky that mine only has a sticking A button... But a battery pack i brought last year for my GBA still works... sure, i need to get around to taping in on because of the broken clip things, but it works.... and a carrying case i got like 2-3 years ago is still in one piece. So it's not ALL garbage. (I don't think it is anyway...)

I got a Mad Katz screen protector for my DS...and guess what it did...

It got sticky glue crap all over my screen, and they worked terribly.

Dammit! The same thing happened to me. I needed my sister's nail polish to get it off and it ate off a little of the paint to my DS!

acetone?

I bought two mad katz controllers for my GCN when I first got it. I regret it. I saw that for two mk controllers it was 10 dollars, and for 1 regular controller it was 25 dollars. Well, first, the A button stuck. So I couldn't play those A pressing games in MP games. THEN, the B, X, Y, L, R, and Start buttons screwed up. THEN, the macro button wouldn't turn off, so I was left with a dead controller. I disassembled it, and it turned off. Then, the controller had to be pointed a certain direction to actually work. After 2 months, it was dead.

Of course, the extention cords that came with them work fine.

My friend bought an mk memory card. It screwed up on him instantaneously. He returned it and got a better memory card.

And of course, I've heard of other horror stories, but I'm pretty sure anyone who is posting here knows at least one.
