Discuss the latest episode. The Doctor's daughter: Mary-Sue or legitimate character? Her reasons for existing: canon-breaking BS or intelligent writing? The episode as a whole: has the series jumped the shark? You decide!
I'll chime in from over here in the states as soon as the torrents hit the web and I get it downloaded and watched.

I think that a) they will make a spin-off series next year and b) She somehow goes back in time and picks up the Master's ring.

Hmm...
My fears that the episode was going to make the show jump the shark would appear to be unfounded.
Loved the rehash of the "This is Gallifrey..." music. Here's hoping that track is on the next CD. heart
I'm not really sure how necessary that ending was, but I suppose it kind of hinges on what they do with her. If she becomes the subject of a spin-off series, it's somewhat questionable. She's not really a bad actress, but no one should make a career on the fact that they are someone's daughter, alone. I'm in favor of bringing back the character at some point in the future, but a whole series of her would be a bit much, I think.
Not a bad episode.

I kind of hoped she would regenerate or something ya know because it would be great for the doctor to at least run into her again and it would be great. Your right she wouldn't get her own series but well if she was to appear a few more times and her character developed from that of a child now because basically she is a child with only military training so I hope we see her again but well with more character development.

As far as I know, she is supposed to return at the end of the season along with Rose, Martha, and Torchwwod. I don't think that she should get her own show, being that there just isn't enough character development to go on. What they should do is put her on Torchwood.

I don't think Mather will come back a THIRD time because that would just be ridiculous. I know rose will be back in the finale episodes highlight for spoiler and so will the Daleks.

Berzerker_prime Loved the rehash of the "This is Gallifrey..." music. Here's hoping that track is on the next CD. I thought the same thing, after that scene I had that song stuck in my head for a couple days. 3nodding knightofthe21stcentury I think that a) they will make a spin-off series next year and b) She somehow goes back in time and picks up the Master's ring. I was thinking that also but I'd rather they didn't make a spin-off. And I don't want her to be evil either. I also have a question for people who've seen most of the classic series. In the confidential episode they seemed to say that the doctor's past family was from in between the movie and the new show. Like during the time war. I thought his former family was from the classic series.

That's what I thought. He did have a granddaughter. Logic would say that he either had a son or a daughter back in his first life.

This was very good episeode, but I hope, I really hope they will not do a spin-off of her... I would loe her to come back in the finals ^^ along woth Martha and Rose ^^ all off them 4 together would be great.
But is it true that Time-lords do only have 13 lives... I did not know that sad what will happen with Doctor who after his 13 live? sad (if it is true)

It's been a while since I saw Unearthly Child, so someone correct me if I'm wrong on this... If memory serves, Susan just kinda showed up, calling the Doctor "Grandfather." And, being as how he was a time traveler, he just sort of figured that whatever had happened so that he had a granddaughter had yet to happen. Yet, at the same time, Susan recognized the first Doctor on sight, so presumably it would have happened in the Doctor's first life... @_@ Come to think of it, I'm now seeming to recall that this mini-story happened in some sort of written media... Berz. I do believe he found her when he went to steal the TARDIS. She was out of time, if memory serves. As for an actual family attachment? It's still a bit hazy there.

I watched the ending. It made me think of the personality of the classic series.
(ending spoiler) Especially when she was taking off on the ship. I just thought I'd put that in white cause saposidly she died.....

It would be very interesting of a story arch for RTD to write for Jenny. The end of the episode left me feeling very sad at first, then I realized since she is a great part of the Doctor, then it would only be a matter of time before she regenerated herself. I'm hoping that they do bring her back, because if there was some flirting going on between her and the captain, I'm sure the Doctor would let ol' Jack have it LOL 4laugh cheese_whine

LOL! That was the first topic of conversation as soon as my friends and I finished watching the episode.
Jenny: (shaking hand) Call me Jenny. Jack: (shaking hand, flirty) Captain Jack Harkness. Doctor: Oy! Stop it! scream Jack: I was just saying hello! gonk Jenny: I don't mind. 4laugh Doctor: I do! evil
