It had been too long. Much longer than he had intended. He was always the reclusive sort, it was his nature but something in him urged him to come out. Whispers of dark, terrifying creatures taking over the lands. Skinwalkers. That was what they were called. From what he heard, they were worse than even the Kalona. It was those whispers, those rumors that brought the old unicorn out of hiding. He had given it a lot of thought and decided he would start up a herd. They would be the Nvnehi. A group that consisted of soquilis that lived anywhere. They'd blend in with others and never stand out. That is.. until needed. These spirit warriors would come out in times of need and fight the enemy for those that cannot.

Too many were being hurt by monsters and though Chaos was certainly no angel, he had a temper about him and a sarcastic nature, he was not a killer. He would only ever truly harm in self defense. Something needed done, however.. and the Nvnehi was the answer.

He would train them to fight. He would recruit others skilled in combat to help train. They would be a formidable army of warriors. Hooves, teeth, the occasional horn. No soquili existed without some natural talent, even if they were unaware of it. Flutters and Winds could fly and kick from the air, the unicorns had horns which could damage but also the ability to heal. Even the regulars had their hooves. All that they needed was the courage and inner strength to put their life on the line for others.

The Nvnehi are based on an old Cherokee legend. Feel free to read up on it!

The large stallion did not stop his journey until he found himself at his destination. It was the largest clearing in these lands as many soquili gathered here throughout the day. He couldn't ask for a more populated location.

He took a few steps forth and belted loudly for all to hear, "My fellow stallions and mares, it seems that dark times have come to our lands. Not a day goes by that I don't hear of some hideous act committed by those that would call themselves Skinwalkers. Have the Kalona not been thorns in our sides enough?" Chaos walked on and ran his eyes around those in the clearing before continuing. "Hiding is not the answer. Hoping something comes along and rids us of the enemy is not the answer. We have to fight. We have to protect ourselves. We have to protect our families. We need to take action!"

"I would like to start up a herd.. though in truth, it would be more like an army of equal warriors. We would be known as the Nvnehi. We would be equal to one another. We would help each other train in combat. We would learn to fight not only as a team but as a single formidable force. We would be there to aid the weak, the hurt and even the dying in their final moments. We will teach these beasts in our lands that we are not to be preyed on. We will not sit back idly and suffer." The large stallion tore at the ground with his hooves, his angry nature showing through. It was impossible not to get mad whenever he thought of what was going on around him.

"We will teach them the true glory of being a soquili, be it a regular, wind, unicorn or flutter. We will show them what we are about. We will show them what we are capable of! Together, we will drive them OFF our lands, once and for all!" Of course, to do that, he needed members. Not everyone was courageous enough to join in on such an endeavor. He could understand as the fear of death outweighed most others. Still, he hoped others were of the same state of mind as he.

Perhaps it was fate that Zevach had wandered across the clearing; one he usually avoided thanks to the mass of soquili he'd rather not interact with. However; on his way to find Zarimunia since he'd felt the pangs of ache once more and needed some consolance; he'd heard something which definately caught his intrest. Pausing for a moment to listen to what the loud and older stallion had to say, something stirred in his soul; a kindle of the old but never dead flame of battle.

A herd...

He'd never really thought about such a commitment, sure he had his family which was big enough to be somewhat of a herd; but this was different. A herd of the elite warriors to combat the darkness, the skinwalkers and Kalona. His teeth clenched; remembering his brother's heartbreaking story of the Kalona that nearly did way with their sister when they were young. Luckily he'd have yet to run into a skinwalker, but he knew if they were anything close to the mutants he'd encountered...he definately didn't want to meet them anytime soon.

What would Zari think? He knew she supported him no matter what since she'd put up with his relentless days of training and attitude when he was a young stallion...but it was a little different if he was summoned to war. None the less, Zevach knew that his heart lied in battle; and in the broken condition it was in he was sure one of those pieces had been lost when he stopped training.

Stepping out into the open as he made an A line right to Chaos, one of his trademark smirks drew over his lips as even the prospect of battle for good lifted his spirits.

"I like how you speak..." He started off, nodding his head in a informal hello. "I think its about time that someone had the gall to do what is needed to be done; I know of too many who condemn fighting even if it is to save lives." Perhaps he would die in battle; but in all honesty Zevach could think of no better way to go. He'd sure as hell try not to...he had a bit too much to live for now but that uncertian fear wouldn't get the best of him - it never had and never would.

"I'm in..." He chuckled and flicked his ivory tail. "To live by the sword is to die by it, but to die for others is to live a life greater than any other...its the way I think anyways." He mused, before blinking and shrugging his shoulders. "Ah, Sorry....I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Zevach..."

How very.. intriguing. A herd. He never would have thought of that idea for himself, but now he was interested. Kitsune didn't like to think of himself as a follower, but he certainly wasn't a leader. Although he did his own thing, he had experience with Kalonas. He had been attacked once, and it was most definitely horrible, but he had also survived. He never wanted that fate to be casted on anyone, most especially anyone that was weak. Poor he and Pumpkin Tart were terribly injured, but it was a life lesson that was quickly learned. The future was looking bright at the moment, and he hoped he could believe and trust in this cause.

The other stallion's speech was intriguing, and although Kitsune was only lurking in the shadows, he was pondering the idea as if his mind was suddenly enlightened. If this stallion was serious, could an actual grouping of strength be as successful as he proclaimed? Kitsune loved to train, it was his life, his blood. His heart and soul yearned to learn more about combat, and maybe he could learn more from the others around him. It was the perfect situation, and he couldn't fear such an idea just because it involved others he didn't trust. If it was a cause, trust would be learned and accomplished along the way.

With that in mind, Kitsune then left his position behind a tree, and made his way towards the speaking stallion. He held his sword tight, and he kept his eyes even sharper. He would be committed to this.. finally, a message of some sort had appeared. He could finally use his impressive skills for something, and maybe even make some companions along the way. "I'd also like to join." Kitsune didn't need to ask questions- the unicorn was very clear in what he stated. Kitsune did find it ironic, since a unicorn was once again having an impact in his life. Not long ago did a unicorn save both he and Pumpkin Tart, and now a unicorn was saving him from loneliness, or even death once again.

The words that rang out from the dark stallion who had stepped into the clearing made Khalon's blood run hot, eager. He stepped forward, meeting the gazes of everyone else who stepped forward. "I am Khalon, and it would be my honor to assist in any way I can." He carried himself like a warrior, and nodded at the stallion. He had lost much in his youth to the kalona. Since coming here, it seemed he only heard more and more stories of horror. And today, it seemed, was a lucky day for him. Soquili stepping forward, proclaiming themselves ready to risk life and limb to protect lands that were rightfully theirs.

He had his family to think of. Five children, and grandchildren, and a companion who had spoken of expanding their family yet again. And he knew that every soquili in this clearing had a family of one sort or another; At the very least, they all had friends they would be willing to protect. He anticipated it would be a rare soquili, however, that would be willing to stand up and fight for their cause when faced with death.

He couldn't wait to meet all the warriors who would step forward.

A glance at his son next to him was almost expectant, but Khalon wouldn't push for Reflection to take such a vital step forward. Khalon had been living by his beliefs for years, and felt so firmly about them that he would be willing to die to hold true to them. Reflection was young, still, and bore no responsibility to make such a decision. Even if Khalon had trained his young son well, that was all he could do. So he stepped forward, symbolically leaving his son behind him, moving towards the other unicorn as a show of strength, and agreement, joining the other soquili who had stepped forward.

Chaos bowed his head in greeting towards the stallions that stepped forth. He had to admit, he was pleasantly surprised. He really hadn't expected more than one to show interest. It wasn't that he thought the others were cowards though. It was a lot to ask one to be willing to give up their life to protect another.

Chaos turned towards Zevach and addressed him first. "Zevach, you are most certainly welcome." He couldn't agree more with his comment, especially if you were dying for someone you cared about. Someone worth protecting, like family. He had three young daughters to think about after all -- and protect.

"You are welcome as well," he turned towards the orange stallion. "Where one might fall, a group might prevail." He believed this to be true, even towards the Skinwalkers and they were the worst of the lot. Every creature bled. Every creature could be hurt. What they lacked in physical strength and abilities, they would make up for in teamwork. It really could work. Those that did get injured could be healed by the unicorns. The winds could attack from the air. The flutters could size down and distract. All could show the power of their hooves. It was entirely possible to fight back and even win. All that was required was a group willing to do that.

"Welcome as well, Khalon." Another unicorn would be an asset. The more that could heal, the merrier. Also, the horn was a formidable weapon as was.

"I am called Chaos," he stated for all the stallions. "I'm not going to lie to any of you. I'm not the best of stallions. I'm certainly not the nicest of stallions. In fact, I've done some things in the past that I'm ashamed of. However, like most of you, I do have a family to protect and as long as we stand together, I will treat you all as brothers."
