Just wear both. You don't have to choose only one type of lolita style to wear.

Also, since you're new, I just want to point out to you that Black and white outfits doesn't automatically make you gothic lolita. That outfit can Be gothic, if you accessorize accordingly, but wearing it like that won't automatically make it gothic.

Wear whatever!
Seriously, it's your choice, you don't need to worry about it too much. Everyone suits all lolita styles, they just need to wear them in the right way and you look fine in both of those pictures!

Indeed, whatever suits you -- but I recommend a petticoat with both outfits. I'm not in posession of one myself, but the skirt should poof independantly with one.

If it's the Anna House petticoat, I'd recommend a stronger one. I'd also recommend that you iron the skirts out so that they'll accept the poof of the petticoat more evenly and look less slovenly.
I'm guessing you got excited and tried these on immediately? They're really creased and wrinkled looking. ^^;

If your a colorful person wear sweet and if you like black wear gothic. Either way you get cute make up and can carry a plushie if you want.

I think it would depend on what you would like to wear. Sweet lolita outfits are usually light, girly colors. If you don't want to wear anything like that, then you should probably wear gothic. 3nodding
