Yes, I couldn't see Varg being the winner if it went the other way.
Regardless, I think Euronymous is a ******** freak, the whole brain stew thing really upped that bias.

The way I see it, Euronymous got what was coming to him. He was going to murder Varg and Varg beat him to the punch.
Varg is really an intelligent guy and he doesn't get enough credit for it. He changed my outlook on Tolkien's work, that's for sure.

Definitely, from what I've researched of Euronymous, he was simply scum.
And Varg Vikernes really intrigues me, his views and music astounds.
I've really got to read more of him.

POST-WIKI EDIT:
Varg seems pretty inteligent. And his views on the Rings are pretty interesting. As far as the murder, it says that Aarseth was "...an ardent proponent of sodomy, rape and murder simply because they were "evil" acts." That makes me immediately think he is ignorant. Tipping my favor to Varg. Lol
