Fascinating, isn't it, that this story, along with a line in Leviticus, is the cause for so much hate against homosexuals?
Still, no Christian I know has realized that Sodom and Gomorra condemns homosexual rape, not homosexual sex. And who is ingenious enough to realize that homosexual rape is condomned because rape in general is not condemned? Around the year 0 rape was everyday business. It was not unusual for a man to rape a woman, it happened commonly.
Shocking you might say? Well, Christianity as a whole is... Some are just idiots, saying that this person and that person are evil, but at the same time they dare work on sundays, very much against Exodus 35:2 which specifically states that anyone who works on a sunday should be put to death.
There you have it: either Christians start killing everyone who works on a sunday or they should stop suppressing others. After all, why condemn someone on an ancient book?

i'll put an edge on my axe i work sundays all the time and i have to say if they come for me they are going down in droves before i do. although elmon technically it's the sabbath that you shouldn't work on and the jews (in the time of whom exodus was written) celebrate sabbath on (i think) saturday

Lazarus: a question for you, if I may.
My sister is a Satanist. She does not call herself a Satanist, she does not actively observe the tenets of LaVeyan Satanism, but she is, in her heart, in her attitudes, in her mode of living, a Satanist. Everything she does is ultimately to benefit herself, whether by material gain or "that warm fuzzy feeling", as she puts it. Now, since I have explained the difference between LaVeyan and theistic Satanism to her, she's asked if there is some formal way that one "becomes" a Satanist.

Techinally there was no year 0 because the guy who designed our calander forget to put it. There is a law condenting a man raping a woman.
Deuteronomy 22:25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a girl pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the girl; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders his neighbor, 27 for the man found the girl out in the country, and though the betrothed girl screamed, there was no one to rescue her.
I don't understand the next passage:
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. [c] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

it means that if a man rapes a young girl (presumed to be a virgin) and he gets caught. he has to pay the girls father a sum of money and then he has to marry her. basicaly it means he rapes her pays the dowry and gets to rape her legally(spousal rape is still a fairly modern concept) for the rest of her life since he cannot divorce her. please not if the man isn't caught in the act nothign happnes to him.

near as i can tell. "If some guy finds a virgin who is not going to get married to someone else. grabs her, rapes her and he gets caught..." same as allways, the lat one seems to include not only rape but seduction as well.
