Wow, you'd think someone would have made a thread like this by now. But I couldn't find one, so at last, here's the age-old question: if you can pick, what's your all-time favorite Queen album? You know the one. The album that's always in your CD player. (Or always playing on your iPod.) Or the album that you can relate to on a personal level, more than any other album. Or perhaps you had a memorable experience involving the album or the first time you heard/bought it, and now have a soft spot for it? Well...you get the picture.
Myself...I'd have to say Queen II. It's just so masterfully executed, touching and slow in some places, rockin' and loud in others, and none of it is filler. ANATO is a very close second, though. As is Made in Heaven.
So, which Queen album do you love the most? Share your view on it to the world! (Well...to all the inhabitants of this Guild, anyway.) mrgreen

Sentimentally my favorite is News Of The World, cuz thats the one my dad owned, and his favorite song, Melancholy Blues, is on that one. I bought just the album cover at Goodwill, just to have something of it. My stepmom got the actuall one when my dad died. The lucky b***h doesnt even like Queen.
But musically, my favorite is Queen. For a first album, its awesome and daring. Who puts like 3 songs about Jesus on their first rock album? It has to be my favorite!

You mean your dad had the actual record, and your stepmom got it even though she's not into Queen? Wow, I can't blame you for being annoyed about that.
Yeah, Queen's a fine album. I never fell totally in love with it, but Great King Rat, Keep Yourself Alive, and Jesus are keepers. And it's rather interesting to see what the band's sound was in the early days when they were pretty unheard of.
There are three songs about Jesus on that album? question I know there's one, but I've never associated any others with Him...which songs are you referring to? (Completely out-of-context observation: your avi's gown is awesome. :p)

Sheer Heart Attack is my favorite album simply because I love more or less every song on that record biggrin
I use "In the lap of the gods" as ring tone on my cell phone and it is funny to see peoples reactions when it starts screaming xD

My favorite is A Night At the Opera. I like every single song on that one.
Jazz is my second favorite. I mean, hello, "Mustapha", "Dreamer's Ball", "Fun It"? Hell yes.

Oh ******** I start listing favorite albums, I go "This one's my favorite. With this one. And this other one. And the other one over here..." and pretty soon I've got half the albums a group recorded listed... sweatdrop
The favorite albums I own are as follows:
-Hot Space. Outside of my mom's greatest hits record, Hot Space is the first album of Queen's that I ever heard. It's different, sure, but it's one of the main reasons I got into Queen almost 7-8 years ago. Cool Cat is my favorite song on there, because Freddie and the gang do it so well, and it's one of the few Queen songs my own singing voice can do justice to.
-A Night at the Opera. Pretty much the second non-greatest hits album that got me addicted to Queen. My parents owned that record as well, and I got into that during my second big Queen craze, in high school. The album seems to flow so well. There are somewhat diverse songs on it, but they all have the same sort of feel. I'm always reminded of those nice, breezy summer days when I listen to it, and that's one of the reasons it makes me feel so good.
The other albums I didn't really get into until much later.. I'm talking almost a year ago, when my third huge Queen craze came out of the woodwork.
-Queen II. Dammit, this album is amazing. I love most of Queen's music, but I really have a thing for early Queen. Like, pre ANATO Queen. I don't know what else to say about it.
I'm also a big fan of A Day at the Races, and The Game... If I list anything else, I'll be listing everything...

I love all the albums! Like Blue said, if I listed them, I'd have the whole list posted.
To keep it simple:
A Night at the Opera It's the first album I had that wasn't the Greatest Hits. I love how the songs tie together (mainly the Prophets song and Love of My Life), but I don't understand how they went from Death on Two Legs to Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon... Other than that, I'm not sure why it's my favorite, it just is.
Then there's the other albums that I'm hoping to buy.

My favorite album that I don't have is News of the World, just because My Melancholy Blues and Spread Your Wings are on it, and those are goddam amazing songs. Well, besides WWRY/WATC of course. I just need that album. I actually found the album cover at a second hand store. It even had the album sleeve in it, but no record. I was so pissed. Anyway. Back on topic... sweatdrop

Hey it alteast beats going to a record stone and realizing most of the records you bought are warped pieces of junk...... Anyway I guess my favorite Queen album would have to be The Miracle because I was born a month before the album was released and somehow I feel connected to it in a spiritual way. whee

You see, I am extremely paranoid and discriminatory when I buy records. Unless it's something I want really, really bad, if there's even a tiny little question to whether or not it would work, I am hesitant to get it.. If there are minor stratches I'll get it, but.. You know. I'm paranoid when it comes to records anyway.. I don't mind skips here and there, but what I really do not want to deal with is the ******** repeating skip. And I'm paranoid that a scratch will be so deep it will bust my turntable needle or the needle will get stuck or something... I'm actually so weird when playing records, I will not pick up the needle once the record has started playing. If I have to go or something, I let the record play itself out, because last time I tried to stop a record before it was done, the damn needle thing slipped out of my hand and it scratched the record.
Anyway, back to buying vinyl. I don't give a s**t if the album cover is in shambles though, as long as the record is in good shape. That reminds me, I got pissed the other day. I was at the second hand store, and there was this album by the Alan Parsons Project that I wanted, but it was warped so bad it looked like a shallow bowl. BOO!

I might one day experiment with various methos for unwarping records that I'm finding on the internet. Granted its a crap shot as they say but considering I have two warped copies of Queen's "The Game" I'd rather them die an honorable viny related death compared to just being useless hunks of vinyl.

I've thought for a while that it would be cool to start collecting records, but a bit pointless at the moment, since I haven't yet managed to get my hands on a turntable.
@ King of Fiji: Yeah, I agree--especially since you have two copies of The Game to experiment with.
@ Kyuubi: ANATO? Yeah, that's a good one! I always love how Death on Two Legs is pretty much "hate-hate-kill-kill-anger-rage-destruction", and then suddenly Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon starts, and it's all "La-di-da, everything's fabulous and great!" XD Not to mention it's one of those tracks that just screams Freddie.
@ Blue Silver: Hot Space...hmm, I can't say I ever fell in love with that one. I just can't get past the fact that it sounds like Michael Jackson for some reason...o_O There are a few songs that I like, such as "Dancer", "Action This Day", and of course "Under Pressure". I consider UP to be the song that describes me best of all, not only out of Queen songs but out of music in general. xd

I like Michael Jackson, so I don't care. Say what you will about the man's sanity, but the music is awesome and that's all I really care about.
At the point that I discovered Hot Space, I would definately not have been open to their more rockish stuff (I listened to boy bands and Britney Spears clones for Christ's sake), so if it weren't for Hot Space I might not be into Queen at all.
Anyway, I'm actually quite used to Queen fans thinking I'm full of s**t for liking that album so I don't really care anymore. I just don't see how people don't like 'Cool Cat'. It's one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Oh, perhaps I should have clarified my position more. You see, I like Michael Jackson. '80s pop music in general is pretty cool--Depeche Mode is another one of my favorites--but it just weirds me out how that album sounds so similar to songs by Michael Jackson. Mostly because it's Queen's '70s work that I originally fell in love with. All in all, it's one of those little "It just doesn't seem RIGHT! *eye twitch*" sort of things more than anything else. And anyway, I don't hate the album. It's just not my all-time favorite by Queen.

See now, I prefer 70s Queen, but Hot Space was what originally got me into them. I was actually surprised when I started listening to more Queen and it wasn't like Hot Space..
