I'm not very fond of this article. Infact, I greatly dislike it. It just...hurts to know the truth about a few things I've been wondering about. As a Christian, I didn't like hearing that Brendon is simply non-religious. I think it's good for everyone to believe in something, not just nothing at all. And hearing that Ryan "was an atheist" (we don't know if he still is, but...) sort of hurts me. I always thought the songs about God in their music had a greater meaning, but I guess they're just mocking human nature. I have no problem what so ever with their religious decisions; it's not my place to say anything, and I'd never want to shove anything down their throats, but it just sort of hurt for me to hear that. Also, hearing that Brendon used to do weed...eh. That sort of broke my heart into tiny pieces. It's typical for every rock star to be a stoner at some point in their life, but I thought Panic At The Disco was more than just typical in that sense.
I guess I just gotta keep loving them no matter what their past has been like, or what they believe in. It's what makes them who they are today, and I couldn't ask for more out of them.

I don't think we should judge Brendon for having done weed when he was younger. He was a kid, he felt alone, and that was the only thing that made him feel better. Plus, it's pretty normal for a teenager to try it out, or smoke because of peer pressure or whatever. I know tons & tons of kids who smoke weed, they're not bad people, they're just not always making the best choices. Whether he smokes now or not is still kind of up in the air, though more & more often it seems like he does. That obviously sucks and I wish he wouldn't, for his own health and for us fans... But he is still young, he's had a crazy life, and maybe he just needs to get some things out of his system sweatdrop
As for what they believe in... just because they're atheists or non-religious, doesn't mean they don't believe in anything. Maybe they believe in love, friendship, music, fate... For some people all of that might be combined with a God of some sorts, and for other people it has nothing to do with God at all. I think you can have faith without it being religious faith.

@Poly: you got a very good point about the religious thing though their religion doesn't bug as much as the weed thing. i guess the reason that bugs me so much is because this guy that my sister was and kinda still friends with does weed and like a bunch of other stuff and like i don't know it just bugs me. and i think i know what an atheist is but i'm not sure so can someone tell me?

An atheist is someone who doesn't believe that there's a God.

An atheist (a= anti, Theos = Ancient Greek for God) is someone who doesn't believe in God wink . Atheists believe that there simply is no God, because nobody can prove that there is a God. Some atheists also just reject theism(= believing in a God).
You can't say being a atheist is simply being non-religious, because there are some philosical religions.
There also are agnostic people, the different is that they say you can neither say there is a God, nor can you say there isn't a God.
This is the most simple way to explain it wink . It's actually quite interesting to read about all of those views =).
EDIT: Damn you Poly for outposting me mad xd .

I acutally think they had some interesting things to say. Would have loved it if the interview was a bit longer.
When it comes to the relgious thing: I think that Brendon has given it a try, but it just wasn't right for him. He grew up in a religious family, and just realised it wasn't his cup of tea. I think he has guts because of that. Still, he knows what he's talking about when he's talking about religion and can actually say why he isn't religious. Some people just say they aren't religious, without knowing why, he doesn't.
God in their lyrics: I don't think they mock human nature actually, they show what human nature is like. So I think it has a meaning for some people, while some other people may think it's mocking. It's like reading a religious book: it can be interpreted in multiple ways. If they have a greater meaning for you, that's good smile . Shows that Ryan's lyrics just are great xd .
And I must agree with Poly: being an atheist/non-religious doesn't mean you don't believe in anything. I believe in Science, for example. Totally different of course, but yeah, I just believe there was a big bang and that we actually were monkeys millions of years ago. And of course, I believe in all of the stuff Poly said xp . And of course: religious values aren't necesarrily a bad thing to me.
And the weed thing: the things people did when they were young make them what they are today. People need to be allowed to make mistakes. But yeah, you guys know the pot thing isn't a big deal to me xp .

I can't believe someone like Brendon was treated so badly in high school. D; And I didn't know Brendon had ADHD... I just thought he had an unusually hyperactive personality. xP
I don't think Ryan is as introverted as he used to be. I mean, he is in some respects, but he's coming out of his shell gradually. I like that.
I know some people would be bothered by the fact that Ryan and Brendon are not religious, but being an atheist myself, I'm pretty indifferent. It wouldn't matter to me one way or the other (As long as they're not extremists! D< ). And Lucky brings up a good point. At least Brendon can explain why he doesn't believe.
I don't think they're mocking human nature.
