Who: Ekundayo, Sa'ida, Natsuki and Mouse
Where: Cafe Jubilee
When: Brunch time!
Weather: Warm spring morning, partly cloudy

Another day, another journey to Gambino... ever since she had gotten mailed her fel essence and soul bottle, Mouse had come to notice that she had been going out of town more often than she thought she ever would. A few years ago, she was of the belief that her departure from Aekea was the beginning of a long, peaceful and productive life tinkering in solitude in a nice house in Barton Town. Funny how corresponding with one eccentric scientist had thrown a wrench in that completely. Now she had a social life that demanded her going to new and interesting places all the time!

Well, not that the place she was headed was new, but it certainly fell in the interesting category. This would mark the third time she had visited the costume-themed Cafe Jubilee, and to dine with its owner, no less. In her back pocket was a small invitation; its high-quality stationery had been stained with small, dark fingerprints that smelled faintly of engine grease:

Quote:
Mouse!

Congratulations on your raevan! I must apologize for the tardiness of my sentiment, but from what I hear, she is nothing short of stunning. Would you like to have tea with me at my Cafe? I would like to introduce my charge, Sa'ida to you and your little girl as well. I hope that they can become friends like we have! Hope this letter finds you well.

Sincerely yours,
Natsuki (^-^)v
Cafe Jubilee Owner

Of course, she had immediately called back and said she'd be there the next day. And while on her way there, Mouse pondered the marketing strategy that may have been tucked invisibly with the card... friendship, mutual interest and having "children" of the same category as the owner essentially made her another customer as she came to visit... Genius.

The door to the Cafe opening marked a turning of several heads in its direction-- however, this time it was due to something very different from the half-cat, half-octopus that had caused the disruption the first time. Where Fredmitri would have his arms draped around the green girl's shoulders, instead there was an eagle-winged torso of a woman with what one might refer to as a slight clothing deficiency. Both her wild hair and her characteristic ribbon patterned like a gloomy sky dragged slightly on the floor as the Frei's guardian entered the building.

And if the occasional passersby on the way thought the Frei had seemed unusually happy, it paled in comparison to how she looked now. Her yellow eyes and facial features slacked into an expression of complete bliss as she became fully aware of the cheerful atmosphere that was carefully maintained inside the cafe. Whatever a "cafe" was, it had become her favorite place in only five seconds. In the same way a vacationer on the beach took in the sun, the eagle girl drank in all the positive emotions around her with a happy sigh.

Her cousin Shuhei would laugh himself into the ground and tell Natsuki she’d need to get a boyfriend (or at least get laid) to replace her obsessive habit of throwing nerdy tea parties all the time. Then again, Natsuki had her vices just like everyone else. Hers were just a bit more stuffy and snooty. With spring coming into full swing, her roof-top garden was the envy of every gardener in Gambino, and it was a primo location for a welcome brunch for their new charges. Colorful flowers danced lightly in the breeze, swaying gently with ease.

It was perfect weather for entertaining, and she so thoroughly looked forward to seeing her friend Mouse again. The women were an unlikely pairing, yet somehow their interests and personalities complemented each other rather well. Old friends with new adventures would be the best description of Mouse and Natsuki’s friendship. Though the two were relatively new friends, they talked as if they’d grown up together. As overtly girly as it may be, Natsuki insisted on inviting the ladies over brunch with a properly gorgeous feast prepared.

Sa’ida, go on down stairs and wait for Mouse and her friend… Sa’i…? Natsuki should have known she was talking to herself as the young Frei could stay idle like a kleptomaniac in a lost and found office. Shaking her head and laughing to herself, the redhead owner made a mental note to start giving Sa’i lessons in manners, or at least waiting for someone to finish talking before darting off into action (or distraction).

New friends! Neeeeeeew friends! New-hew-hew FUUUU-REEEEEN-ZUU! Sa’ida sang melodically, snaking her way down the banister. Unfortunately, she mimicked Natsuki’s after hours, lazy railing slide, trying not to get her ribbon tangled in the new garlands. Thankfully, her guardian was out of sight, or she’d be in for the lecture of a lifetime. The café lulled to a soft murmur, and the raevan followed the line turned heads to the door, where she found a green haired woman and another being like herself. Instantly, Sa’I broke into a brilliant smile, and headed straight toward the bright green hair like a catnip drunk kitten!

Mouse Greenhead and FRIEND!! Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! Sa’ida chirped, zipping her way straight to the reception area! Golden bangles clinked against one another as she waved her arms eagerly. Her café apron flapped wildly as she gained momentum. The genie Frei screeched to a halt and bounced (much to the male customers’ delight) up and down in gaiety! Taking one look at the avian raevan, her emerald eyes widened in excitement! Her new friend was pretty like Tari. Sa’ida loved Tari, so she automatically knew she’d take a liking to the girl before her. Beautiful eyes! Like pure gold! We have tea party on roof! Roof has pretty garden. Mouse Greenhead’s friend’s pretty name?

Her language wasn’t perfect, but how could it be expected. She was only a kid after all.

If Sa'i were a cat enjoying a dose of catnip, then the unkempt younger blonde-to-brunette adorned about "Mouse Greenhead's" shoulders must have been a large, friendly dog on opiates. And something about the bronze-skinned rainbow genie seemed to flip some kind of switch in the eagle girl's mind... it was almost as if she had somehow been waiting for this other Raevan for ages longer than either of them had been alive. Her entire demeanor brightened a bit, as she unwound her arms from her grateful guardian's and propelled herself closer to the colorful Frei.

With happy raptor eyes locked on the source of more cheerfulness than half of the customers, she quickly eliminated the small distance that was between them, wings pumping due to the latent instincts that came with the soul of an eagle. Taking a dark hand in her two pale ones and clasping it to her chest, she smiled blissfully and repeated the word, "Pretty..."

Well... that went extremely well. The meeting was more than a little unorthodox, but Mouse was glad that the two Raevans were becoming as fast friends as she did with Natsuki. "You're Sa'ida, right? It's nice to finally meet you," she said with a bit more cheerfulness than she wouldn't allowed herself, if it weren't for Dayo's tendency to leak happiness all over the place along with how amusing it was to see how well they were already getting along.

"Oh, and, uh-- her name isn't Pretty, she was just complimenting you, I think..." 'Greenhead' couldn't be entirely sure whether it was that or just a chance mimicry of the right word. Her Raevan didn't talk very much at all, at least not yet. "It's Ekundayo, but you can call her Dayo for short. Is Natsuki waiting upstairs, then?"
