"Well, mom, um. Xelon...Xelon, he...hurt Zweix. Y'know, because he goes all psychotic during the full moon. And um, Lune kinda insulted him, which means...I insulted my older brother! I really didn't mean to, mom, I just...I...."

What Xanul had said to her earlier was stuck in her mind, and the troubled witch could not help but heave a sigh as she appeared in her father's library with a faint 'pop'.

It was enough when Xanul had hurt her when he got his Berserker powers. She understood that he hadn't meant to, yet the way he blamed himself and concealed his whereabouts from them had gotten her very worried for her son.

But now that Xelon had hurt his little daughter; she doubted Zweix would understand why her father had done so. She could only imagine the trauma her granddaughter had went through, and the guilt both of her sons were facing now.

Ayako gave another heavy sigh, padding to the bookshelves and staring up at the rows of books with a sad, quiet expression on her face. Perhaps some reading would take her mind over all her family troubles for now.

Hmm... now this was different. Hemi had an urge to go to the library when he did not need to study anything. Not to mention... to his knowledge there was no one there. Dad was over with Mom, checking on MauCho & the new kits. Hemi hoped to go see them soon. It was an odd thing... their family & Ginny's being actually together now. Ginny was both happy and livid about it: James had never told her he was even interested in MauCho. So the hot-headed witch was actually more hurt and feeling like she had not been a good enough mother, not even sure if she was welcome to meet her grandkits... and that of course made her angry. Cedrella, still upset that none of her siblings -especially her- inherited their father's wings was about the only one able to face her mother's temper with any sort of welcome or acceptance for long periods right now; and even that would end soon because she was talking once more of going on her quest to see if there was magic unknown out there that would get her wings.

In that, Hemi was shut out -his snuggles & cuddling that could possibly calm them unwanted for they wanted to stay upset. The hardest kind to cheer. Cedrella also accused him that he should be helping her, using Ayako and her mini wings as a reason; stating that should she succeed she could get wings for Ayako too. "After all" Cedrella had snapped coldly with brown eyes flashing like her mother's. "Her's were noticeable from the start. I can't imagine her not being upset, being jilted like that. Only fair." Hemi got the impression that the only reason Cedrella was not inviting Ayako on that quest of hers was because his sister had pups.

The youngest of 10 sighed softly and shook his head with a resigned smile as he opened the door to the library. It was really too bad some could not be happy with what they had...

sniiiiff Chocolate head shot up, a smile spreading upon his face, baby blue eyes alighting as his scarf swayed with his motion. "Sis!!"

With happy bounds Hemi crossed the room to her side. However, he slowed as he neared, seeing something in the way she looked at the books & the way she stood. His sister was not really looking at them -or at least her thoughts were more focused elsewhere. "Ayako?" Worry crinkled his brow and Hemi nuzzled up alongside her, purring softly & comfortingly. "Ayako... How're you? Your kits? Their kits?" He offered her a warm & loving smile, gently butting her shoulder. "Did I ever get to say 'grats on that? Dad's still beside himself being a great-granddad. Xelon knows we'd love to see them, right?" It was a sad spot in the lightness that he had not seen much -read 'any'- of either Xelon or Swax. Not that he saw much of Vynn's kits... but at least he saw them more than Xanul's siblings. There were ones of Ayako's second litter he barely saw too. Awww...

But more importantly... what had his sister, who should be a happy grandmother, feeling so disheartened? With a soft consoling and loving sound Hemi nuzzled the underside of her chin.

It was true; it had rather come as a shock to Nari's closest daughters that she did not have wings as big as her mother's. She had resented that deep down inside, but she never really blame Hemi, or her parents. Rather, the first thought that had come to her was whether they were cursed.

Whether she was cursed.

Those thoughts had started to come back into her mind these days, after all the trouble with the moon, her kids, and her recent grandkids. True, Nexis, Zweix, Derix and Verix hadn't been exposed to the full moon yet, but seeing how...violent they were, especially the youngest two, was worrying. She was so lost in this whirlpool of emotions that she didn't even register the footsteps that meant someone had entered, and only snapped out of her reverie when her brother called her name.

"Hemi." Her eyebrows shot up in surprise, but not so much. This was where most of her family members lived, anyway. She stayed silent for a while, listening to his questions, then sighed again.

It took a while for the witch to reply, a gentle, almost worried frown upon her features. "My kids are all grown now." There was a sparkle of a mother's pride in her turquoise eyes, before they grew serious again. "But there's been rather...negative effects to three of them during the full moon." There was a pause before she went on. "Xelon's kids have been busy learning how to fight. And..." She broke off, looking uncertain. "He got into contact with one of them during the full moon. You know how psychotic he is...and he hurt Zweix. To make matters worse, Xanul, I mean, Lune...insulted him." That was what her son had said, or rather, stammered out, anyway.

She heaved another sigh, before turning to look at her younger brother. "Could it be that we were wrong?"

"Zweix? One of his kits?" Surprise almost had the gentle & loving kitsu squeaking. It was hard to believe his intelligent nephew had forgotten to keep track of the moon's cycle. Didn't he lock himself up like father & Aiden did, even with their Wolfsbane Potions? How could Xelon make such a mistake? His purr increased in warmth but not necessarily in volume. Hemi put his body as close as he could to his sister, enveloping her with one wing as he nuzzled her sweetly. "Wrong? Wrong Sis? What could you be wrong about?" Pause. "Zweix... is she okay? Did you see to her? Does she need mother or me?" His brow furrowed in worry. Lune... Hemi had to recall that was the name Xanul gave to his berserker nature. The side that had hurt Ayako. Not good. That meant Xanul was probably tearing himself up over it. Ayako clearly was. Hopefully Xanul would not avoid the family again. Maybe he could convince Edward to let Aurum go with him to find Xanul. His golden niece seemed to have her own healing talent when it came to Xanul's heart.

Right now... he needed to focus on Ayako. Heal her heart. Her thoughts too, as much as he could. Whatever it was she could be 'wrong' about... his sister was clearly -as far as Hemi was concerned- somehow blaming herself for her children & even grandchildren's suffering.

She nodded, letting herself lean against her brother for comfort, closing her eyes and basking in the warmth. It made her feel better, somewhat, and she managed a small smile. "Zweix is fine; she's just...shaken up." All she was worried about was whether Zweix would forgive her father, and whether Xelon would forgive himself. Perhaps Xanul could talk to his older brother about that...when he stopped blaming himself for what Lune had done.

It was also true that Ayako blamed herself that all this was happening. She could overlook the first time, but the fact kept nagging at her that she knew. She knew something was going to happen, mixing werewolf and Berserker genes like this, and yet... "The second time was wrong. Wasn't it?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 28, 2008 10:23 am

There... something of a smile from her. It was a start. "Maybe I could go see her...?" Tails wagged as he nuzzled his sister. Hemi would love to see her grandkits. Meet his cousin's mate.

Wait... was she saying what he thought she was saying? "Ayako... wrong the second time? You're not talking about having the kits are you? Oh, Ayako..." Purring Hemi held his sister so close. He felt about ready to cry. "Sis... Sis... You have wonderful kits. You love Saix & them, and even if Saix can't love as much as we'd like being a Nobody & all he's showing feelings for you and the kits this time. You can't really wish you didn't have them... could you?" Hemi whimpered softly. He did not want to think of life without his nieces & nephews, even if he very rarely saw them. Surely... Ayako could not be regretting them? Still he purred reassuringly. Hemi loved... perhaps on some level it balanced all the Nobodies in their family tree.

She nodded gently. She was about to visit her grand daughter, to comfort the little girl, who was probably still traumatized over this. It had just occurred to her that what Xanul had said meant that probably, Zweix had seen her normally cheerful uncle act so cold and unfeeling. She wasn't so worried; Verix seemed to like Xanul that way, though she complained he was much more boring as well.

"I know, I know." She murmured, burying her face in the warmth of her brother's fur. "But you should have seen it. Lia got sucked into a portal-like black hole, and we had no idea where she went, until Axis spoke up. And Nyx...she can't move. And do you know Axis was blind? But she was so much more worried for Xerviree than herself. She was so scared to see him so different. I can't say it's a bad change, and Xara can talk but..." She trailed off, squeezing her eyes shut. She wouldn't cry. She couldn't. "They're suffering." Suffering because she and Saix chose to have more children.

No... Hemi had not known. He whimpered softly and purred deeper, snuggling his sister closer and gently grooming the top of her head as she spoke. Very lightly he shook his head to let her know he had not known. "Ayako... Ay... Sis... You couldn't have known. Even after the first pups... you couldn't have known things would happen to them like this. You could have easily had a kit that was a werewolf with complete control over their change, did you think of that?" Baby blue eyes released a steady stream of quiet tears. His sister would not cry... but Hemi would. For his sister, for Saix, for his nieces & nephews, for his grand nieces & nephews he hadn't met... for Mom & Dad when they found out. Dad would tear himself up like Ayako was doing; for letting himself become so surrounded by love that he dared chance passing on his curse to his descendants.

He sighed. "Ay... I don't want them to suffer either. You've gotta know I don't but... Ay I love those kits -grown or kits or feral. We're family. We'll find something: a spell, a potion, a post hypnotic suggestion... something to see that despite this, they still live life to the fullest. I know you've been a bit busy, but did you hear Lil's fixed Dad's potion so it doesn't make him so lethargic? She still doesn't like experimenting on him..." Hemi's soft voice trailed off into a heavy sigh. Liliana would not like testing potions on the rest of the family either but she would do it if she could help he knew. Aurum & Morgan would likely help her too. The Werewolf blood seemed to have avoided that branch completely. Maybe because Lily was so small? That really did not seem like a viable factor. What of Vynnessia's kits? Did they carry the Werewolf curse or was the dog demon blood within them simply so strong it overpowered it? Hemi could not know.

"There's another option." He said very, very softly. "Miss Siggy's a friend of Dad's... she's a scientist... we could see if with her guidance and our healing... if there could be a cure on a genetic level."

It was something that he tossed around from time to time in his mind where Remus & Aiden were concerned but was uncertain about bringing it up. They had something to keep them... contained and safe. It seemed much worse with Ayako's brood... or was that because they had not taken necessary precautions when the full moon came? What if they had done as Remus had and insisted his kits were with him for the change? Of course... with just werewolf if any of them had the curse it was easier to predict what would happen. Ayako's kits had such varied reactions to the blood's ties with the moon.

"I might not have known exactly." She said quietly, averting her turquoise eyes from him as her petite body shook, almost threatening to let her emotions spill out with tears. "But it was obvious. The moon does something to them. All of them. And however good it may seem for some... I let this happen to them. Even after how Xanul and Xelon turned out to be." She was more worried for her older sons than Swax. Swax may have been disinterested in magic, and went mute during the full moon, but she wasn't a constant source of worry. The thought of her oldest daughter made her wish to see her again, just to show Swax she did love her. It didn't mean that she was more comforted about Swax's predicament meant she didn't care. She hoped her daughter would understand. "I somehow knew. Maybe it's the curse. My curse." All the family problems seemed to stem from the fact that she and Saix had kids, and she knew she couldn't blame the Nobody.

Ayako twisted around in Hemi's arms, nuzzling his cheek gently. "Don't cry, Hemi. Please." Her tone was gentle, but the firmness in it had seemed to fade, and it was clear she was about to cry soon.

She managed another faint smile. At least her father seemed to be doing well now, with Liliana's help. "I don't know. I just...I don't really know anymore." Her strong facade was breaking down, and it scared her, more than anyone else.

"You're not cursed." Her baby brother said as sternly as he could through his gentle tears. "And I will cry. You're not. Someone needs to if you're not. Sis... I know you have to be strong for them. But you've got to let go sometime. Of the holding it all in, not of being their mother." He nuzzled, then nipped at her ear in little brother fashion to make his next point.

"As for it being obvious... you still love Saix right? You still love your kits? Make that obvious. Focus on that. Come here if you want when the moon is full. Bring all of them you can. Father's lucid enough he can handle Xelon even drugged -he just doesn't trust himself to be out of the shed even so. Too much at stake he says. You know how Dad is. It could be good for them. You never know."

It really might be. Remus had become far too wary of his condition and his fear of it almost a sickness. Once he heard about what had happened... it might be a very good idea to make him confront it head on. Maybe then he would try others of Liliana's alterations to the Wolfsbane Potion. Remus was to complacent sometimes with sticking with what worked. It was almost as if he feared a cure.

"Sis... you don't have to be strong all of the time." Hemi murmured gently, holding her body close and nuzzling the top of her head. They were the only ones to inherit strongly their mother's healing, but Ayako was a true empath where he only read body language and gaged true feelings based on the clues others let slip. It was easier with family. He knew them. "Be strong for your kits... let us be strong for you."

And tears... tears were not a sign of weakness to Hemi but of release. So his flowed freely without sniffles. Wet & soft and full of the love he had for his family.

"You'd never know." She said quietly, golden wings fluttering as if to emphasize this point. It wasn't Ayako's fault she was thinking this way; she had gone through a lot of frustrations, worry, and hurt that somehow, this was the only logical conclusion she could come to.

Cry. It was so strange to her, even as a tear trickled down her cheek as she watched Hemi. Ayako had never cried before in her entire life. It was such a raw, new concept that shocked her that she lifted up a paw, and gently wiped at her cheek with the black cloth, the red Japanese marking reminding her of Nari. It comforted her, in a way.

"I love them." She said firmly. "I don't know though." All of them? She was somewhat afraid to see her father as a werewolf; what happened as a kit as she watched Aiden change had scared her, and resulted in her deep-rooted fear for wolves. Saix knew about it and she had explained to him why. "I don't know." She repeated. There were some she could be comforted about, Swax (who was often experimenting that she didn't see her daughter much) , Xara and Xerviree. Xanul wasn't so worrying now, seeing that he had successfully controlled his powers. The more important ones was Xexilia. Xelon had taken care of his problem quite well, although what had happened was a slip-up.

"Maybe I'm too used to it." She said finally. Too used to being strong, too used to hiding her worries behind a tough facade. It was who she was, after all. "It scares me."
PostPosted: Tue Apr 29, 2008 6:31 am

"It's okay to be scared." He murmured gently, baby blue eyes wet but watching her as he continued to comfort and support. "It's okay not to know. That's why we learn. We live. We learn. We don't always know."

((bah... pathetic... sorry...))

She took in another deep breath, and then managed a smile for her brother. "Do you know about Xanul...Orta?" The two were still oblivious to what they felt for each other, but it was clear to Ayako. It amused her to see both of them, sense their confusion, as they struggled to understand.
PostPosted: Tue May 20, 2008 8:05 am

Okay... of all the things Ayako could have said... that was not one her baby brother had been expecting. Not at this time. Not in light of what they had just been talking about and the self-imposed guilt trip his sister was in.

Hemi was not ready for the 180 in conversation at all. "Huh? What?"

Baby blue eyes blinked, his own smile mirroring Ayako's almost automatically. The wheels in his head could almost be seen turning behind his eyes as Hemi tried to catch up with what had been said and incorporate it with his sister's smile. Yes... she was smiling. So... nothing bad then... "oh!"

Dark chocolate tails wagged happily as his thoughts reached a conclusion. "Oh! Are they together now? Saw how they were at Christmas... was hoping something would come of it! So cute!" Hemi beamed with happiness for them, baby blue eyes happy & bright. Almost as if to say: see, good stuff comes to your kits too.

She didn't want to think about the unhappy things anymore. As Xanul had cheerfully told her, "Always look on the bright side of life, mommy!" That was ages ago, when he was young, but the thought of it still made her smile.

"Not...exactly." Uncertainty flicked across her face. "But they...have feelings for each other. They themselves just don't know yet." She wasn't even sure if she should tell Xanul, or let her son figure it out on his own.
