 Standing underneath a tree, an adolescent Lumusi gazed out at the plains in front of her. The scorching heat didn't bother her as much as it used to but she didn't like it too much. Her tail flickered back and forth as she stood there. She really wasn't thinking about much. Her mind drifted to her family but only for a few seconds. She hadn't seen them since they had all started growing up and drifting away. That was something she didn't mind though. After all, Lumusi had learned at an early age that she couldn't depend on anybody but herself.
Lumusi continued to ponder to herself as she watched the sun cast it's heat wave across the earth around her. Everything seemed rather... boring. There wasn't anybody around for her to talk to and Lumusi needed something to keep her entertained. Her tail flickered back and forth as she looked to the ground. Her eyes rested on a small beetle and she moved her paw and flicked it onto it's back. She gave a sigh and just continued to stand there.

Dubwana yawned and stretched, his back arching as he lazily woke up from his nap. Unfortunately for him the rogue was taking his nap up in a tree, on a not so thick branch and when he stretched he lost the grip he had on the branch and started to fall. Oh s**t! The black and white lion was suddenly wide awake and aware that if he didn't do something he was gonna end up breaking his back when he landed. Luckily for him his instincts kicked in and he was able to twist himself around mid-fall and end up landing on all four paws. Not that he landed lightly, "Ouf!" Bwana shook himself, his gold eyes blinking as he reorientated himself.
Once that was done the rogue glanced around to make sure no one witnessed the fall. Good, looks like no ones he- damn His gold eyes landed on the adolescent lioness and they widened. "Uh...." Oh yeah, he was so smooth. He shifted his weight on his paws not knowing what to say now. He couldn't believe that a little adolescent female was making him nervous, unfortunately he couldn't help it.

Right after her rather audible sigh, Lumusi heard something fall onto the ground near her. Raising a brow, the adolescent stared at Dubwana blankly. There was a slightly awkward moment because Lumusi didn't know what to say. Here there was this lion that just fell out of a tree and she thought that she was alone. But even though she had found someone to bother, she didn't quite know what to say in this situation. "Hello there." She replied like nothing had just happened. "Who are you?" She asked curiously.
She knew exactly what her siblings would say if they were here... Shaking her head slightly, Lumusi attempted to forget them as she probably would never see them again. This lion looked rather... strange. Black and white with black circles around his eyes? She had never seen anything like him but then again, she really hadn't met very many other lions.

While Bwana was happy that he didn't hurt himself during his fall he almost wished that he had, or at least the ground maybe could have opened up and swallowed him when he fell. He didn't have much social interaction with females as he grew up so now as an adult instead of being confident and suave he was nervous and uncertain. Hearing the lioness voice snapped the rogue from his thoughts and he coughed, clearing his throat. "Oh, uhm....Hi." Wow, he was a complete dork. "I'm Dubwana'dubu....Who're you?" his tail flicked back and forth nervously, glancing around he tried to think of what he could say next. What would male lions usually say now? Probably some sort of compliment...but then I might seem shallow....crap
Soon enough his eyes made it back to the little lioness and he took a closer look at her. She was younger than he was but she was pretty, intelligent looking red eyes, grey pelt and simple but pretty darker grey markings. Not that he would be able to manage to say any of that out loud, he'd end up tripping over his own tongue and that could be more embarrassing than falling out of the tree.

Lumusi continued to stare at him blankly. She had a difficult time showing emotion and it just wasn't in her nature especially with a lion that she had just met. She didn't mind lions but she wasn't particularly fond of males. Her mother never told her what happened to their father. Apparently it wasn't anything very good so she didn't have a very good perception of males in general because of this. "I go by Lumusi. It's... a pleasure." She observed him curiously and wondered what was wrong with him. He seemed a little... tense. What was there to be tense about? There was no danger... nothing around them at all. What a strange lion.
"What were you doing in that tree?" The lioness asked rather bluntly. She obviously didn't know how to carry a conversation very well and wasn't very charismatic. She had much to learn about the world around her but the question was if she actually wanted to learn about it. Lumusi looked out of the corner of her eye at the little beetle struggling to get back on its stomach. Bland.

Her blank stare didn't help Bwana feel anymore comfortable, it just made him feel more self conscious. He let his claws dig into the grass and dirt beneath his paws as he stood there, it was a calming motion and helped distract him from his nervousness. Catching her name he couldn't help but smile, it was a pretty name. "Lumusi...That's a pretty name." He smiled a bit as he sat down, he was trying his hardest to be cool and natural but it was harder than he thought it should be. "It's, uhm, nice to meet you as well." He wanted to kick himself. Hard. He probably seemed like a total idiot and while he wasn't the brightest crayon in the box he wasn't the darkest either.
Hearing her question he glanced up at the tree and then back down to her. "Ah, the tree...I was napping. I try to sleep through the hot parts of the day." He didn't mind that her conversation skills were lacking, his were as well so it was amazing that they were even able to keep a conversation going. His golden eyes followed the path of her red ones and he saw the beetle, he felt sorry for the poor thing. Stepping forwards he reached out with a black paw and gently flipped the beetle over so it was able to scurry away.

She didn't know any other way to look at him and Lumusi didn't even realize she was making him feel uncomfortable. She was rather oblivious about some things. "Thank you." Lumusi smiled slightly but it looked almost awkward since she usually kept her expression emotionless. She still couldn't understand why he seemed almost nervous. She couldn't remember the last time she had been nervous about something. Maybe leaving her family but even that didn't bother her too much. Did anything faze her at all?
Tilting her head, Lumusi looked up at the tree. "You were sleeping up there?" And I didn't even notice... She frowned to herself wondering why she didn't even notice him... Maybe she was already beginning to slip... She needed to be careful. There were some dangerous lions around and she couldn't trust anybody. Even this lion, Lumusi was ready to fight if necessary. "Hm?" She watched him flip the beetle back on its stomach. How boring. Why would he go out of his way to flip that beetle over? It's not like it was effecting him in any way. "It's too hot out today. The heat bothers me." She stated simply and it was a wonder why Dubwana was still talking to her.

Bwana smiled a bit at her thanks, he wasn't really sure what else to do. His tail curled and uncurled a nervous habit of his, but then it suddenly stopped almost as if he noticed his twitch. "Welcome" He glanced around and then back to her unsure of what to do or say next.
Hearing her question he looked up. "Yeah...I like trees." I like trees....oh yeah buddy, you're smooth He shook his head a bit, his mane fluffing out before settling down again. After liberating the beetle he glanced up at the lioness, "Yeah...I don't like the heat either." He sat down, letting his tail curl around his haunches.

Tilting her head slightly, Lumusi wasn't sure what was wrong with this lion. He was... strange. She had never met another lion like him. "Really now?" She smiled at him seeming rather amused by his answer. The lioness sort of felt at ease but she was ready to move if necessary. That seemed to be really important out here in the plains. Watching him curiously, Lumusi let her mind drift slightly but she returned her focus to him after a few seconds. "Yea, it's all so bothersome." She paused, unsure of what to say to him. "Well, what do you like to do for fun? Besides climbing trees." She smiled softly at him hoping to release some of the tension in the air.

Not having been in close contact with many other lions other than his family he didn't realize that his behaviour might be considered strange. He smiled slightly at her answer, "Yeah" He didn't realize that it was probably a hypothetical question, he wasn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box.
His paws shifted against the ground slightly, not able to sit completely still. His fidgeting extended to his back leg and he lifted it and tilted his head down so he could scratch at an itch on his neck through his mane. His question made him freeze, slowly looking towards her his hind leg still buried his mane. After a second he dropped his leg and lifted his head. Fun, fun, what did he do for fun? He didn't do much other than sleep and hunt. Oh and explore, he supposed that exploring could be considered fun. "I like to explore, I haven't gone into any pride's territory but I know all the prides around here." He grinned, proud of himself. He wasn't super smart but he did have a good memory.

Lumusi giggled softly after she spoke. He wasn't so bad. She was actually enjoying his company. That was surprising to her because she could tolerate very few kind of lions. They were all so bothersome or always caused problems for her. Even though she could fake her enthusiasm or something, it was refreshing to actually be herself for once. The lioness observed him quietly feeling rather amused at the moment.
"Ah, that's nice. Exploring is fun but I really haven't explored many areas yet. I recently left my family and I hadn't been out much. The prides?" Lumusi paused and thought about the prides that she knew about. "I only know of a few prides and definitely haven't traveled. My family... was rather disconnected from the rest of the world. My mother took care of us but was careful about telling us certain things. She just wanted to protect us..." She reminisced thoughtfully about her family.

 "Oh," In a way he found it sad that she had left her family, but then again she had done so voluntarily. Unlike himself, who had been separated from his family involuntarily. He wished he had known more about his family before he got separated from them. Oh well, there was no reason to dwell on that now. "I don't have any family or know many lions so I spend most of my time just exploring." He looked about and then back to Lumusi. He wasn't sure where to go from here. It wasn't so much that he was nervous anymore, he felt comfortable around her. He just wasn't used to social interaction.
Catching the last of her sentence he tilted his head to the side slightly. "Protect you from what?"

Lumusi was surprised that he didn't have any family. For some reason, growing up in a family, she assumed that most at least knew they had some whether they were estranged or not. "Ah. That's interesting. I've just recently started exploring as you can tell." She stopped reminiscing about her family knowing that they would show up sooner or later. She just wanted to do her own thing right now. "Oh?" Lumusi didn't quite mean it like that. "I mean... She didn't want us to get hurt or anything or anything to hurt us. It's just a motherly thing you know?" Smiling softly, Lumusi didn't know about the maternal instincts and how they would probably kick in her for her someday but she knew there was just something there.

Bwana smiled a bit, nodding his head slightly at her words. She was young enough to have just left her family. He absently lifted a paw licking it before he ran it across his maw and mane, grooming himself. He continued his ministrations until he heard her speaking again. He nodded, "Ah, yeah. I remember when I was just a cub my mother tried to keep me sheltered but my father always let me do whatever I wanted." He chuckled a bit, he only had a few memories of his parents but they were mostly good ones. He smiled back at her, before glancing about. Noticing that the sun was getting close to setting he realized that he was getting hungry. He'd need to hunt soon.

She nodded as he spoke of his parents. "My mother would always do that." Lumusi giggled softly and fondly thought about her family. "I don't know who my father is. My mother never spoke of him and we never bothered to ask. She would tell us when she was ready for us to know..." Sometimes she was sad that she never knew her father. Growing up in a family full of estrogen, Lumusi had learned to be less sensitive about the things around her and was definitely more of a tomboy then the rest of her family. "When did you leave your family?"
