They were both in Minnesota when it happened and so were both called upon; given an urgent mission from Charles. The information was minimal. In a hospital patients had suddenly started dieing at an amazing rate. Doctors and staff worked through the night trying to save them. No cause was evident, they’re bodies simply began to fail them. The police were called and politicians were muttering about it being an epidemic. Then ‘he’ revealed himself, an evo with a powerful control over wind. With a grin he swept the police away from the doors and sealed the hospital closed behind him.

“We don’t know anything about him. We’ve never seen him before, but you have to get in there and defeat him or else everyone in that hospital is dead.”

Against the both of them how long could one wind evo stand? Especially in the confined spaces in the hospital halls? At least that’s what Raleigh was relying upon. Though to be honest crappy space didn’t work well with the two of them either. As he stared up at the immense building, he readjusted a glove. Police were everywhere; their cars ringed around the hospital in a constant vigil. And of course the cameras were there too, with a few hundred reporters, all trying to get a closer look. To get that winning shot.

Raleigh would have preferred crawling in through the back way. But the guy in charge of this particular area had thought it would be preferable if they made the public feel safe with an appearance and then barge in there to finish the rouge evo off. Ignoring whatever the head officer was telling him; Ra cast a look at his partner, one of the people he’d never really thought he’d be standing next to again during a battle. Sure they had trained together, but… this was different.

Mikazaru snapped at a policeman he dared get too close. The man quickly retreated to a wary difference, where the rest of them were staring at him and his creations as if he had just crawled up from the darkest bowels of hell with them. Wonderful.

“It’s up to you two now. Good luck.” The officer gave them both a nod and then stepped aside, watching them expectantly.

This was stupid. They were just going to waltz through the front doors. “Ready?” Raleigh queried his partner; quirking an eyebrow at Erol. “Those glass doors aren’t going to open on their own.”
PostPosted: Fri Apr 25, 2008 5:13 am

"And I suppose you expect me to have a key to open them, eh?" The sarcastic reply from Erol drawled from his lips as he took a long inhale of smoke from his cigarette. Bad habits die hard but it was something he did often to kill the edge and make him focus. After his fill he flicked the cig away not caring if it caught fire to something. Might actually do them a service.

"Right... lets get going then." No snazzy lines to start this party. It just wasn't Erol's style. Rather he just stepped forward placing a hand upon the sliding doors and let loose a resounding wave of energy that shattered the glass around him. "You should send your dogs out first get a feel for the place. I don't like being blow around like some much debris ya know." He half chuckled, half serious as his nerves were on edge. The spectical that was taking place over this incident was not his cup of tea. He only hoped Rayborn kept his band from watching the news. They still didn't know about his current "situation" as an Evolved. "Ready when you are." He drawled looking one last time at the crowd behind him before turning his eyes on the matter at hand.

Raleigh waited until the door had been shattered before remarking “That looks like a key to me.” He looked to the three creations that were standing beside him obediently, waiting to be given a command. “Mazaru, Mizaru. In.” The two raced inside the building. Raleigh took a cautious step through the doors after them; into a deserted lobby. At least here there was no problem with space. It was when they reached the corridors; that was what he was worried about.

How smart was their opponent? He must know they were there. He’d have to be an idiot not to have noticed. Now, would he attack head on or wait and lure them in? Raleigh scanned the area. Despite a couple of over-turned objects, nothing seemed to be amiss. Except that it as empty. Deathly quiet, and there was an underlying stench that made him wrinkle his nose.

Ra whistled. The two creations have been searching at the other side of the large lobby and now came loping back. Nothing yet. “Mazaru, you search the rest of the ground floor. Go.” It sped away again and off down a hallway. If it found anything at all, the other two would be alerted. Over time Raleigh had discovered a connection between the three.

“Let’s gets this over. We search a floor and then keep moving up until we find someone.” Without hesitation this time he began moving, his gaze flickering back and forth in seach of the enemy.

Erol glanced side ways at his partner sighing inwardly at the situation. He could be doing any number of other things right now but his duties to these people seemed to pull him in every direction. It was getting harder to even care what went on in the world concerning his kind. Part of him wondered why they should stop the others? If they wiped out the homosapians then the Evosapians wouldn't have a reason to complain anymore... or would that.

"I'm right behind you." Erol replied deciding to take the slack as Ra took up the lead. They decided to use the emergency stairs; a better option for those tricky villains. It wouldn't do to be trapped in an elevator, not much room to fight and Erol would more or less kill them all if he so much as sneezed. Once they reached the second landing, Erol jumped in front. "Hold on I want to try something..." He smirked lightly opening the door. Taking a quick peek left then right he knelt to the ground concentrating for meerly a moment. In a jolt of dense energy the ground shook but for a second before settling.

Under Erol's feet he could feel the dense wave that had rippled out over the floor. With every step Ra and his creations took he could recognize their individual markings in the way they moved and the strength of the small shock sent back to him. Much like ripples on the surface of water. The only trouble was location, he couldn't pin-point anyone's location; but by how fast the ripples moved he could tell if they were running or walking. And if the ripples were unrecognizable then they had an imposter among them. Other than that... this specific ability was fairly new. "Alright we can go.. stay close. You can send one of those mutts to check things out. So far I don't feel anything..."

Raleigh was on high alert as they went up the emergency stairs; Mizaru skittering along ahead and Mikazaru bringing up the rear. Occasionally Ra would observe what his two creations were doing, but they gave no alerts. He hadn’t expected there to be much on the ground floor anyway. It was almost like they were in some twisted game, where they would wander through the deserted hospital until they reached the boss at the top.

He watched Erol curiously as the other man used his new skill. Though there was no explanation given, Ra had a vague idea what that little ability did. “That’s useful.” There was no question about staying close. He didn’t want them to get separated at this point in time.

“Left Mika.” Ra commanded. One of the two ran off down the hall. Now they had a choice of forward or right. “Miz, right.” The last one darted away. Raleigh took a moment to focus on the area around them; figuring out what objects were available for him to play with. “We’re going forward.” He waited a moment in case Erol decided to argue and then began moving.

The door to either side led into consulting rooms. After checking the first few and finding nothing, Raleigh didn’t bother again. The hallway opened up into a larger area that Raleigh assumed was a waiting area. His gaze instantly slid to a body in the corner. He gave an uncertain frown.

He hesitated for a second and then warily approached; half crouching and reaching a hand for the woman’s neck. Eyes flickered open. “Please… help me.” A weak hand reached out and grabbed his arm. Raleigh frowned and pulled back a little. It could be a trick. “Please.”

“It’s alright.” Ra reassured her, shoving aside caution for a second.

The tanned, sickly looking woman had short dark hair and wide brown eyes that blinked up at him tearfully.

Erol remained in the doorway watching with baited breath. If anyone snuck up on them he'd be ready, still this woman was out of place. He didn't know if they should trust her but there were no other options. She could be a victim that left them no room to argue the matter. "Hurry up, just bring her with us." Erol hissed as he kept a close eye, feeling nothing on the ripples put out.

The mutts were doing their work, their steps lithe and agile he felt no other ripples save for the woman in this room and Raleigh. "This is too dangerous, we need to get her out of here first then we can come back." Was Erol's reply as he thought things through, they couldn't fight with her around she'd be a liability that they he didn't need nor want.

The grip the woman had on his arm was almost painful. Raleigh was caught between a desire just to leave her there and the knowledge that his conscience would never allow him to do that. He helped the woman to her feet, and she leaned against him, refusing to let go. Her wide, frightened eyes focused on Erol pleadingly. “D-don’t leave me, p-please don’t leave m-me.”

“… we won’t leave you.” Raleigh tone wasn’t exactly reassuring. His gaze shifted to behind them, as Mazaru skittered over, having finished checking out the ground floor. It gave the woman a low, snarl as it pressed against Raleigh’s side. The frightened woman gave a little gasp. “He won’t hurt you… Mazaru is going to take you downstairs and out. The police will be waiting to help you.”

“N-no, I want to stay with you!”

“You can’t. It’s not safe.” Beside him Mazaru gave a sudden yelp noise and no attention could be spared for the lady currently clutching desperately to his arm. He closed his eyes and focused, and then gave made an annoyed sound. “Mizaru was just taken out. He went to the right. Can you feel anything… E-Crossfade?” Whoever it was, or whatever it was, hadn’t left much behind of Mizaru if Ra was being forced to recreate him.

The waiting room desk fell apart and then formed into Mizaru, who stared at Raleigh wit his blank stare, waiting for his command. “Get ready to lead the way to the one who destroyed you.” But what about this woman? Damn. He had to get her out before they did anything too dangerous.

Erol growled looking at the woman then to Raleigh, he didn't want to be rough but at times like these they needed to be stern in their decisions. It would work out in the long run. "We need to get her out of here, Legion... she can't stay." He muttered as he felt something on the ripples let out. It wasn't the new Mizaru but it had hard steps, purposeful and deathly.

"We got company, this guy is no joke. Get her out of here or I'll toss her out the window myself." He growled grabbing the woman's arm roughly. He didn't mean to be so unforgiving but she'd thank him when it was all over. Raising a hand he blasted a whole into the nearest window taking half of the wall with it. Stepping over to the edge he sighed glaring at the woman.

"Listen lady you gotta get out of here... Legion will help you get down. I can cushion your fall but you have to trust us and cooperate. Whoever is coming does not mean to play with us and we cannot focus with you here. There's cops and emergency crew they'll help you." As he leaned her closer to the opening he could feel the ripples under his feet moving again. Mizaru was out there... "Legion. You think you can make something to get her down there safe?" He asked as he gazed over the edge his attention barely registering the woman in his grasp.

Those purposeful steps that Erol could feel suddenly stopped and then, a second later, disappeared altogether.

“Just give me a second.” At Erol’s request, Raleigh prepared to make something to help get the woman down and out of their way. But she had other ideas. Her eyes widened even further, and where before she had been limp in Erol’s grasp, she suddenly tore away from him. “No, no, I won’t go!”

She stumbled away from the opening. Raleigh was too distracted to react quickly enough, and his grasping hand missed her. For somebody who had been so weak before she certainly ran pretty fast down the hall. Of course, Mazaru caught her halfway, leaping at her back and sending her tumbling to the ground.

Raleigh was already half-way there when Mizaru reappeared at the end of the hall. “Mizaru?” Coming to a halt, Ra wiped away a bead of sweat from his brow, momentarily concerned with how tired he was feeling. They had barely done anything. Mizaru gave a little whine and then some powerful yet invisible force hit his side and sent him tumbling sideways out of view.

They had company.

Erol might now notice the return of a person’s presence as feet touched the ground. A black clad figure walked casually into the open at the end of the hallway, where Mizaru had been standing moments before. He gave a wide, insane grin and then gave a swipe of his hand. Mazaru, still planted firmly on the civilian woman’s back, was sliced in two by a rush of wind.

“Ahaha! You should be in Hollywood!” Their new opponent was staring directly at the woman on the ground, paying little to no attention to Raleigh and Erol standing beyond her.

Freed from Mazaru, the woman stood up and brushed herself off, her expression suddenly cold and dangerous. “Shut up. You were supposed to wait until I was finished.”

“But that ‘aint no fun. I wanna kill somethin’ interesting.”

Raleigh had taken a few steps backwards, gathering what he needed from the meeting rooms to either side of the hall.

Erol watched in dumbfounded annoyance as the woman slipped from his grasp taking off at a full run. How the hell was that possible? She'd been sick moments before weak even and here she was at a full run, thankfully Ra was on the case but through the ripple his steps were haggered and weak. "Legion?" He questioned the other but had no time to respond as the unfamiliar footsteps disappeared altogether. "Not good... he's gone." He breathed giving vague information to his partner though it didn't matter at this point.

Having followed Raleigh into the hall in pursuit of the woman he saw Mizaru and suddenly he was gone. "What the?" It was then the heavy footsteps from before were stronger and purposeful now. He was on the move and soon looking down the hall Erol saw his target. "s**t... who's that?" He questioned but didn't expect an answer as Mizaru was sliced in two. The ripple disappeared from under him after that unable to keep such a thing going when it appeared they'd be fighting soon.

Even the woman proved to be part of this party as she stood with little care for the supers in her presence. "We found them..." He commented absently flexing his fingers for any sudden movements.

“You should have kept to the plan.” The woman’s voice was accusing and certainly not happy.

The other evo simply laughed heartily. “Plans are for losers!” There was a rather maniacal glint in his grey eyes. Clad in tight-fitting dark clothes, he was ready for action, striding forward to the woman’s side. “How much ya manage?”

“The one with the monsters has been weakened. I didn’t get to touch the blonde properly.”

Raleigh don’t like the sound of that last sentence, nor did he like the way they were casually having a little discussion, as if his and Erol’s presence was just a bit of an inconvenience. Ra did not like being over-looked.

After backing up, Ra had now reached Erol. Across from them, the woman had moved behind her partner and was giving them both a cold stare. The party was about to begin. Ra gave a short, sharp whistle and then began the process of turning chairs and desks, into something usable. As Mizaru and Mikazaru appeared in the hall behind the two villains, alerted by Ra’s call, the man stepped forward with a smirk. “Okay, okay. Shall we get started babies? Oh yeah. Call me Windscythe ‘cause we gonna have some fun.”

Ra’s eyes narrowed. He needed more time. The creation was big and taking a lot out of him. That combined with this alarming weakness that had come across him, meant his odds had suddenly just fallen.

Windscythe swept him are before him in an arc; sending a blade of wind in their direction.

Erol for the most part remained aloof about the whole situation. His eyes trained on both people of the opposite party. Listening to their conversation he eyed Raleigh suspiciously before looking to the woman again. What did she do? He stepped forward as Ra made his way to him, quickly stepping in front to shield the other. He didn't look good not as usual. Still he wouldn't allow himself to treat the other as an invalid. He could still hold his own when it really counted.

"Legion whatever you're creating concentrate on that. I got you covered." Crossfade whispered he knew this would be dangerous with his partner weakened it would take longer to create. Perhaps if he were lucky he could draw this wind character's attention. He already knew Windscythe's partner was at a disadvantage too but would he care if she were in trouble? Lovers maybe? He snorted at this. Great a villainous group of lovers just what they needed. If one were hurt the other would go into a berserk rage.

Sliding back each step keeping Ra protected he braced himself as Windscythe began his first attack. Erol was not in the business of testing the waters and so did not put up a shield to block he didn't think the shock wave could. Partially because a shockwave was of a high velocity wind backed by an explosive energy. If this character could make wind blades it very well meant he could control the wind around him. "Very well..." He breathed just dodging the first attack by rolling out of the way. He kept a close eye on where Ra was located making certain the attacks were aimed at him.

At this point he decided he'd dumb down his abilities, make the other think he were weak. Sure he'd used his power in front of the woman but she only saw it once. She couldn't pinpoint exactly what he did. Reaching for his gun holster he quickly removed his gun applying a magazine clip as he took aim, firing three rounds all aimed at the man's vital points, forehead, heart and lungs. Thank Rayborn for target practice... he was actually pretty damn good.

Raleigh was not happy with how long this was taking. He could feel his energy bleeding out of him. Normally the creation of one of his beasts did take quite a bit out of him, especially something of the size he was currently attempting, but never this much. It was as if all his endurance training had been pointless. This was dragging more from him than it should… and he had a feeling he wasn’t going to get it back. No quick energy recovery this time.

As the blades of wind came at him he ducked and threw himself to the side, his ponytail lifting behind him. He hugged the wall, ignoring the crash down the hall as the wind met something or other. Nearly there. His gaze move one Erol, but he trusted that the other evo would be able to gain him the time needed.

Windscythe actually looked somewhat surprised that Erol had just pulled a gun on him. But his astonished expression quickly warped into a sneer. It couldn’t be seen but he was quickly gathering a powerful wall of wind before him. It was contained within a designed space; wind swirling at an amazing speed. The bullets met the wall of wind, slowing their progress down considerably.

“Look Emelia, he tried to shoot me.” Windscythe was laughed as he stepped aside, the bullets soaring uselessly past. “Wind resistance baby. Oh yeah!”

The woman behind him looked incensed. “My name you idiot. Do. Not. Use. My. Name. Or I’ll kill you myself. You b*****d.”

Windscythe gave him partner a grumpy look.

“Just a little longer.” Raleigh was crouched next to the wall, his attention split between his forming creation and the two enemies. A bead of sweat ran down his cheek. He closed his eyes, switching all his energy over to what he was trying to make, speeding up the process.

“My turn again, eh? Time to fly baby!” Windscythe threw his arms up in the air and forward. Wind howled as it blew forward at them like a wave. The woman named ‘Emelia’ swore as the wind pushed her over as well. Scythe grabbed her by her collar and tugged her upwards, giving a look of distaste and being careful not to touch her skin as he did so.

Ra was promptly thrown backwards down the hall, eventually sliding to a stop in the meeting room behind them. He was on his knees in moments, a light smirk on his lips and his gaze slightly unfocused. There we go. This one would give them something to worry about.

Erol grumbled something under his breath but quickly holstered his gun when he realized that wasn't going to fly. He figured as much when taking it out in the first place but anything to buy them time was worth while. Seeing as Windsythe wasn't going to pull any punches anyway it was best he put on his game face.

The next attack blew Ra down the hall, Erol managed to duck into the room they'd left noting the large hole in the wall. Maybe that would come in handy but there were a lot of people outside that he really didn't have time protecting. Keeping options open, he blew a hole in the wall adjacent to him making his way through the rubble and debris toward Ra. "You alright?" he asked kneeling next to the other as he kept his attention trained on the crazies down the hall. He saw the look on Ra's face and could only wonder what he was up to but figured either he'd lost it or his creation was complete. "I don't know why you were taking so long with that thing but if you need any cover..." He trailed over feeling a breeze coming after them. It wasn't lethal but surely announced the possibility of their assailant coming in range.

Windscythe was laughing again and Emelia looked murderous.

Raleigh shook his head, his smirk dropping away as he returned into a more serious mode. No point in being cocky now. He didn’t know what this wind guy was capable of and from the looks of things he was already missing a few nuts and bolts, making the situation even more precarious. “I’m taking so long because I feel like I’m about to fall over.” He admitted; gaze trained on the figures down the hall.

Windscythe was approaching again. “Forget about me. I’ll be fine.” There was a loud thump from somewhere in the hospital nearby. “We need to get a good shot in and knock them out. Don’t hold back.” He gave a light frown as Scythe lifted his arms towards them. “I won’t be able to... make anything useful for a while... after this.”

He looked tired, his skin pale. He placed a restraining hand on the others shoulder. “Don’t move.” Ra warned softly. Windscythe grinned madly as he sent two slicing wave of wind at them. As he did so Raleigh gave a command through the link created between him and his beast. The wall to the right of hallway exploded outwards; a giant creation following it through, the wind blades hitting its side and taking the hit. It blocked the way between Erol and Raleigh and the two villains.

A thick tail whipped around, bursting through the wall, striking out at Windscythe.

“While he’s keeping them busy... look for your chance.” Ra muttered, feeling the disconnection between himself and his creation and a sudden ease in the draining energy.

Meanwhile Windscythe was swearing loudly, a barrier of wind deflecting the large claws and tail of a huge dinosaurian creature. His so called ‘partner’ had disappeared into one the rooms, knowing full well she could stand up against this ‘thing’.
