It was rather cool that Spring afternoon, but even the clouds in the sky couldn't dampen Teppy's urge to explore the land. This time she had decided to follow the edge of the forest where it met the familiar clearing where she lived. The trees were small and there were more bushes than trees scattered about.
The young filly came across a stream. Little glints of silver darted through the ripples caused by the sun. "Ooh, pretty," she said, mesmerized by the quick slivers of light. She had no idea they were minnows. When she stepped into the water, they scattered. "Hey, come back!" Then she was off, stomping through the water after them.

The filly finally got away from her watchful mother. A serene silence filled the air around her. The silence was broken with the sound of a splash in the water. Asami thought nothing of it, until another splash was heard. Curiosity got to the filly and she walked over towards the sound.
What she found was a white, green, and red filly. Asami's head tilted a little. Another foal with interesting markings. Quietly, she got closer and closer to the stream. Her eyes fell on the water, which showed pieces of silver that moved around.

Teppy continued to stomp up and down the stream. She didn't want to step on the little silver things but the way they were darting about was starting to annoying her. She just wanted to take a look at them, after all!
By this time the little Christmas coloured filly was getting quite wet. Her drenched bangs flopped over her eyes and she couldn't see.
Suddenly, she slipped on a stone and fell into the water right next to Asami. It was shallow but there was enough water to make a good-sized splash.
"Whee!" she giggled, sitting in the water with her back legs sprawled out oddly. She still couldn't see and she didn't know that Asami was there.

Asami felt the water splash against her face and she snorted a little. Her ears flicked back towards her head. She tried to think of something nice to say. Maybe something like 'lets play tag in the water?' or something else positive, but instead of saying that, this came out of her mouth: "What on earth are you doing?!" Asami's mouth shut as quickly as it had opened and the filly blinked, shocked at her own words. How come this always happened?! She meant something and said the complete opposite.

Teppy flicked up her muzzle to rid her face of her wet mane. Her blue eyes saw Asami for the first time and they widened in surprise, then she started to laugh. "Did I splash you? I'm playing with the silver things, see?" But when she looked around the stream, the fish appeared to be gone. "Well, I was playing with the silver things... Hmm." A confused look appeared on her face, making her look even odder sitting in the stream like that.
"Help me find them?"

When Asami's blue eyes fell on the water, all she saw was the mud under the surface. Her face twisted in confusion then she looked at the other filly for a second. "Are you crazy?" She asked. The filly's eyes widened a little. Asami's muzzle snapped shut and she looked at the ground. Insults simply slipped out of her muzzle without her even thinking about it.
Her eyes fell on the water once again. It looked like fun to splash around and get dirty. Mud was the filly's favorite thing.

"Crazy? I don't think so..." Teppy replied, wondering what was up with Asami. She kept saying things and then acting embarrassed. How confusing. Without much else to say, Teppy exclaimed, "It's fun, try it!" The Christmas filly got back to her feet and began to stomp in the water. "See?" She was stirring up quite a bit of dirt under the surface, and it was beginning to stain her pale coat.

Asami's head tilted a little. How could this filly just take her rude comments and completely ignore them. Maybe she didn't know that insults were supposed to hurt? Either way, she was glad this filly wasn't taking them the wrong way. "Um... why would I try? They simply swim away." A softer side of her voice was showing, and Asami sighed a little in relief. As soon as she could, Asami shut her mouth before any rude remarks came from her.

"Why try? Well, you'll never catch them if you don't try," Teppy said with her simple, straightforward logic. "And if you don't catch them, you can just splash around for fun. You do know how to have fun, don't you?" She asked, curious as to why her new companion was hesitant to jump in and have fun with her. Surely she knew how to play! "Come, try it!"

"Why would I want to catch them?" She asked, looking at the water, which had nothing in it but the brown murky water the other filly had created. "Of course I know how to have fun!" Asami snapped. How could someone not know how to fun. After a moment, the orange maned filly took a step into the water. Mud, it reminded her of the fun she had with a friend.

Teppy was taken aback by the other filly's response that time. She blinked at Asami, her mind grasping for her next words. Finally Teppy decided not to worry too much about it... perhaps Asami had never had a friend before? There was nobody else to keep her company nearby, by the looks of it. Or maybe she was just in a bad mood. In that case, Teppy would try to cheer her up.
"If you don't want to catch them, then... You could always just play in the water? It's nice and cool," she replied, pushing back any hurt she was feeling. She was just trying to be friendly, after all. She picked up a hoof and swished it through the stream, watching the water twirl and bubble.

The tomboyish filly watched the other one for a second. Her ears flicked forwards to listen to all the sounds being made. Splashing of the water seemed to call for Asami to jump in. Asami blinked at the other then thought for a second. Did she want to jump in the dirty water and have to worry about taking a bath afterwards.
"Hm... I might." She said, still debating in her head. Her bows were already untied and made into knots, so she might as well. Asami looked at the water and jumped in with a big splash.

Teppy recoiled as she was splashed on the side of her face. She grinned, her mane dripping with muck and one eye still closed from the splash. "There! That wasn't so hard, was it?" The white of her coat looked more brown than anything now. Then before she thought better of it, she reared and brought her hoofs down hard. The splash made was formidable, and Teppy giggled, running upstream to watch Asami's reaction.

Asami closed her eyes and turned her face away so no water would get into her eyes or mouth. When she turned back towards the other filly, her mane too had gotten soaked. The filly let a small snort out then stomped her hoof again. This was all pure fun for her, no harm done with just splashing around, right?

Delighted that Asami didn't look angry from the splashing, she pranced around before coming back a little ways. "Let's run through it!" she giggled, feeling the water running down her neck and back. Then she traveled back upstream, the current tugging at her legs. The water was just a little over her ankles in places, and almost up to her knee in others. The rocks were slippery but they didn't delay Teppy's progress very long.
