"Come on, this way!" Hayagriva led his filly through the forest, past the stream where he had first met Vis. Today, Haya couldn't be happier. His emerging foals had defied his expectations in wonderful ways. He was still having a hard time convincing himself that they existed even as they stood before his eyes. The other filly had befriended the mare Mapiya and mostly stayed with her. It was oftentimes hard to catch all the foals at the same place which was why he was heading over to visit Vis with only one and not all three. He looked happily over to his flutter-winged and kalona-horned daughter. Looking at her made him immensely proud. They all did.
Beside him Samsara walked. She was still a little unsteady on her spindly legs and tread the path with a delicate carefulness. She had never been this far away from her mother and the place that they lived before and her gold eyes grew wide when she looked around her. Even the breeze that tugged at her amethyst wings seemed new and interesting. Her father had said that they were going to meet some other foals and his friend. What would they look and act like? These questions ran through Samsara's head as she followed after the barbed tail of her father.

Viscoso trotted along the bank of the familiar river where he went frequently and also where he'd seen his good friend, Haya, a few times. He wondered if his children had also come out of their baskets. The rainbow stallion couldn't have been more thrilled or proud about how his children turned out, especially his little girl. She didn't get her mother's wings like her brothers did but she was definitely special in his heart.
"Lina! C'mon this way, there's usually a lot of fish in this part and sometimes frogs too!" He loved to show her new things and teach her about things she didn't understand. She was very active when she was with him and the family but when strangers showed up, she would freeze or just hide under his belly. Hopefully just a shy phase.Adalina bounded along happily behind her father and stopped beside him when he directed her attention to the shallow pond, just off to the side of the river. She stared at the water, not seeing and of these fish creatures or frogs but...herself. "Daddy! There's someone in there that looks just like me!" she shouted as she stared at her reflection some more. The filly looked up at him as he explained about a reflection and that the fish were underneath the water. "Reeflection...Weird." Something else caught her attention that wasn't in the water. A bright gold, very large horse and a smaller one with wings that reminded her of her mom's. "Daddy, who're they?" she whispered, inching closer to his side.

Haya heard the filly's voice before he saw her and wondered if it could be the offspring of his friend. Would that be too much of a coincidence? Probably, but still he hoped. When he emerged into sight of them and recognized the familiar rainbow shape along with an unfamiliar spotted one Haya gave a small buck of joy. "Vis! Hey! Hey, Vis! Look!"
He bounded a step forward and then seemed to remember who he had brought with him. He bounded back and gave Samsara a push forward with his tail. "Look! I have a daughter Vis! We both do!" He could have cavorted with joy and pride in that moment but he settled for more bounces. This was the moment they had been waiting for!
Samsara stumbled forward from the push and had to spread her wings out to regain her balance. When she regained her balance she lifted her head to better see the two that her father seemed to be making all the fuss about. They both had the horns that meant they were unicorns, like her brother and her mom. They were more colorful than her family, too.
Suddenly uncertain, Samsara stopped and stood beside her gleeful father. Who were these two, and why did they mean so much to him?

Viscoso had instinctively stood in front of Lina to shield her but relaxed when he saw who it was. "That's my good friend, Haya. And it looks like his children finally decided to come out of their baskets just like you and your brothers. Come, let's go say hello." He trotted ahead to go meet them, not surprised in the least that his daughter stayed close behind him but only stayed behind him, not wanting to show her face. "Haya! I see your kids have decided to come out as well as mine. She's very pretty. Mine's around here somewhere...Now where did I put her..? ..Y'know I think put her up in that tree over there, excuse me while I go and fetch her." Making her laugh was a way of getting his daughter to let her guard down and loosen up a bit.
Adalina giggled and came under him and appeared between his two front legs, her bright blue eyes looking up at him. "I'm right here daddy! I can't get up in a tree! How would you even get me up there??" She shook her head with another giggle and just looked up at the big gold stallion in front of her and then down to the smaller foal. "How come she has two horns and not one like us? And they're bent funny."
Vis bent his head and nuzzled his daughter's cheek. "So you are here! Her horns are different because they're not unicorn horns. They're supposed to be like that. Plus everyone's different." He nodded and lifted his head up again. "Haya, this is my only daughter, Adalina. Lina, this is my very good friend Haya."

Haya nodded to the introductions. "Nice to meet you, Lina! I've already heard a lot about you! Well... while you were still in the basket, anyways." He stepped up beside Samsara and gestured at her with a flourish of his tail. "This is my daughter, Samsara! She has another sister and a brother though they didn't feel like coming along today. Their loss, I say." He looked to Lina and back to Vis, eying her back speculatively. "Isn't she supposed to have wings?" he asked jokingly.
"Maybe she didn't get them, just like Auberon didn't get Mom's wings..." A look of confusion passed over Samsara's face. "But my sister didn't get her wings either.. she got other wings..."
Haya gave a soft chuckle while his daughter was working her way through that. "Her sis got wings from... ah... the side of the family Sam's horns came from." He looked at Vis and hoped he'd understand. Haya hadn't gotten into the kalona issue with his children yet and was still putting it off. Hopefully they wouldn't have to learn about kalonas for a little while longer.

Vis shook his head. "Her two brothers got their mom's wings. They're pretty impressive colorwise but I'd say my little girl wins with the colors." He smiled down at her though she was still looking at the other filly. She hadn't shown that she was upset or felt left out about not having the wings but still he didn't want to take the chance of her feelings getting hurt. "Samsara's a nice name, you must take after your mother because you're much too pretty to be related to Haya over here," he said with a smirk on his face but also hoping to make the filly smile at least a little. He understood about her horns coming from Haya's side of the family and knew not to say a word of it.
Adalina peered at Samsara's wings for a bit before speaking again. "Tsu and Ami's wings look different. They're...I don't know but they're just different. Like with the shape and stuff. And color too. Yours look more like an actual butterfly. Can you fly yet? I haven't seen momma or my brothers try flying but you never know." She shrugged lightly and still remained planted underneath Vis in between his front legs.

Samsara seemed to brighten under Vis' compliment and Adalina's question. She spread her wings wide, catching the sun off their amethyst sides. She gave them a series of flaps but only succeeded in blowing her mane to the other side of her head. Her four hooves remained solidly on the ground.
"I haven't been able to fly yet..." she sighed with disappointment. "Mom says I need to grow into them a little...."
Haya gave a brisk nod. "Course you do! Don't want to bash into something and bend one of them, do you?" To Haya, her and her mother's wings had always looked so delicate. It'd be heartbreaking to see her accidentally damage one of her wings in her impatience so she had to stay on the ground... for now. "And everyone else here will never be able to fly. So count your blessings anyways, right?" He gave her an affectionate nudge which she softly reciprocated back.
"I guess so...." She quieted and started examining Adalina. "I like your colors," she said once she was finished. "They look sorta like flowers."

"Your dad's right, Samsara. I'd love to be able to fly but it wasn't a gift I was granted with. You just keep practicing and get your wings nice and strong and I'm sure she'll let you fly all you want once you're ready." Viscoso was reminded of his two boys back at home who were always trying to fly. They were constantly very active and always giving him and Krysta a good workout, trying to keep up with them and trying to keep them on the ground. Sometimes he was thankful for his daughter's quietness.
Lina looked down at her bright colors and smiled at the other filly. "Really? I just think they look like little colorful dots. I still don't see where I get them but daddy says mom has little...Clovers?" she looked up at him questioningly, wondering if she said it right. At his nod she continued, "So that's where he thinks I get them. Your colors are pretty too, your momma must be pretty just like mine," she smiled happily.

"Momma is white and purple. It's the same sort of purple as me except she's mostly white instead." Samsara's voice grew surer and more friendly as she spoke. Her dad had been right. They did seem like nice people. She took a small step forward and then looked back at her father. At his nod she bridged the gap more until she stood closer to the other filly. She peered at Adalina's horn and then up to Vis'.
"His is so much bigger than yours so it's going to grow, right? I wonder if mine will grow really long too." They already were pretty long. Samsara wondered if it'd hurt to have such long and heavy horns some day.
Haya followed after his daughter and moved to stand beside his old friend. He smiled when he saw Samsara moving to talk to Adalina and gave a sideways look over at Vis. "The real question is... which do you think is faster?" He grinned foolishly, remembering their last conversation. It didn't really matter that much to him now that they were here but he wanted to see if he could get a rise out of his unicorn friend.

Lina smiled at the other filly, not really noticing that her dad had stepped away so she wasn't underneath him anymore. "My momma is ALL one color! She's this color," she said, nosing the bluish green color on her forelegs. "Even her horn and wings are the same color. Well..Maybe her horn is green, I can't remember." She looked at her dad as he lowered his head to show the filly his horn and latched onto it with her teeth playfully. "It'sh weally 'ough and 'ard!" she said between her teeth before letting it go. "I think mine will be the same. I think they're unbreakable they're so tough! I bet yours are too."
Vis shook his head at his daughter with a smile on his face. "You're lucky, Haya. I'd headbutt you right now but I don't think you'd much appreciate getting speared on my horn right in front of your little girl," he teased as he bumped into the gold stallion. "Honestly I think Sam could win. Lina's not really a racer, she likes to play tag but that's about it."

"I've never tested how hard my horns are..." Samsara paused for a moment, taking a quick look over at her father. When she saw that he was in conversation with Lina's father she lowered her voice and gave her companion a conspiratous smile. "Actually, I've tested them some on my brother... and trees sometimes. I headbutted a tree once to get apples to fall from it and my horns seemed pretty strong." She had been proud of that. Some day she'd be able to fly to get those apples but she had found a way anyways.
"I don't know that Sam's really the racing type either," Haya admitted. "Maybe in the right sort of mood but I think she'd rather fly than run." He eyed Samsara's wings with some trepidation. "She's going to be impossible to keep track of once she learns how to fly. Her sister, too.... but she's being watched over by another mare."

Lina just blinked at the other filly and then burst into a fit of giggles, for some odd reason. Obviously sharing secrets about things that you weren't supposed to do was the coolest thing in the world. "Your poor brother. I hope you didn't hurt him but I bet your horns are pretty strong if you ran into a tree. I haven't tried mine, I don't really see why I should. I don't care if it's hard or not anyway," she said with a small shrug. "Though my daddy did tell me that our horns have some sort of healing power. I'm still pretty young to use it since it's not like developed or whatever but I think that's pretty cool!"
Viscoso nodded with a small sigh. "They sure want their freedom as soon as their little heads come out of those baskets. You should see my boys. Constantly testing those wings of theirs, the little trouble-makers. No doubt once they're grown they'll be off without so much as a good bye. Lina though, she might stick around for a short while. I'm not entirely sure. You think your kids will stick around?" he asked his friend as he looked over to him.

Samsara looked at her new friend's horn with awe. "Healing powers? That's lucky! That way you don't ever have to be hurt... well... not for long, at least." Samsara thought of all the times it would have been useful to have that power. It'd be a good way to make other friends, too. She wondered if her brother knew his horn could heal of if he would even care that it did.
"I don't think my horns have any powers... none that I've figured out, anyways."
Haya had been listening to the foals' conversation and he belatedly turned his attention to Vis. What had they been talking about? He smiled with chagrin for a moment until it came to him. Sticking around! That had been it!
"One of the girls already doesn't really stick with us... so I bet she's gone. Boys usually like to go off on their own so I guess Aub will probably leave too. Sam is the only one that might hang around once she grows up. It depends..." He lowered his voice to what he hoped the foals couldn't here. "It depends on what happens between me and their mother. I don't know if she's only sticking with me until they grow up or what."

Lina looked at Sam's horns with curiousity. "Well even if they don't DO anything special, they still are special! I mean, I've never seen horns like that before, so that has to count for something right?" she said with a smile. Lina wondered if there were others with horns like hers and how many? Sure she hadn't seen very many kinds of Soquili with her still being young but she'd seen a majority...At least she thought so. How many more could there be anyway??
Vis nodded again. "That's a factor you always have to consider in a situation like that. She could up and leave or she may have seen how good you are and want to stay with you. It all depends on what goes through her mind, which we will never know until she says it." Haya was really his only friend who was going through something like this with someone they weren't in love with. Well he didn't think Haya was in love with her, at least not yet. "Yeah boys are definitely the first to go," he said with a laugh. "Girls are more sensitive...Well okay I take that back, some are, like Lina and possibly Sam. We'll just wait and see what they decide."

Samsara's nose reddened in a happy blush. Her new friend had called her horns special! Some of the other foals hadn't liked her horns when they first met her so it felt very nice to finally have someone accept her and them. Her wings fluttered happily and a smile bloomed across her face.
"Thanks, Lina! I've never seen anyone else with them either, even my family." Usually she was embarrassed over this but right now it made her feel proud instead.
Haya was just as glad to move off the topic of his future relationship with Ayanna so he gladly talked about the sensitivity of genders. "Yeah, I think that Sam is pretty sensitive about a lot of stuff but her brother not so much... but..." He laughed and then cringed in memory of another female. "Some mares aren't sensitive at all. The least sensitive soq... er... mare I've ever met was a mare." His sentences got tangled up as he tried to avoid saying 'kalona.' The kalona he'd met was definitely the least sensitive but he wondered if that even counted.
