Once again the Christmas-patterned filly found herself staring up at the branches of the apple tree. Each branch was dotted with a fragile, pink blossom surrounded by soft, young leaves. It was early Spring, and the blossoms were still fresh. The filly was almost motionless except that she was swaying with the wind when the branches moved.
Temperance had made a habit of visiting the tree everyday after she overheard a couple of adults commenting on the apples it had borne last year. Intrigued, Teppy had tried one of the blossoms but she didn't know what was so tasty about them. To her, they tasted like any other flower.
What were "apples" anyway? Why were they tasty? She hadn't a clue. So everyday at dawn, she made her way up the hill to where the apple tree grew.
"Nope, no change today," she remarked to herself, her gentle blue eyes reflecting the blossoms like twin mirrors. "But it's kind of pretty." Then she began to circle the trunk, searching for the "apples" that she had never seen before.

Finally free at last from the confinements of his little wicker basket. The young foal galloped and kicked out his legs as he was very eager to come out to play. His violet eyes which he had received from his mother blazed as his little hooves hit the ground. He was built much like Micah when Micah was a foal. Strong looking though he had his mother’s eyes.
Closer and closer, quicker and quicker he was heading for the clearing. There was an apple tree there that he could smell and it enticed him. Pounding forward he could now notice the oddly colored filly in the clearing by the tree, inspecting it. He drew closer and closer and just stopped, and pranced around her.
“What’chu dooooin?” He questioned

Teppy squealed in surprise and ducked behind the other side of the tree. She peered around the trunk, her blue eyes as wide as saucers. "N-nothing, just looking for apples," she said shyly. She had never talked to another foal before. And not, not.. a boy!
Then her gaze hardened. "This is MY tree! Go find your own," she huffed, unwilling to give up this special spot. She was small and lightly built, but she wouldn't let just any bigger colt push her around! Teppy assumed he was there to take her apples (wherever they were).

“Apples? This time of year?” He laughed as she told him that, whinnying and snorting as a boy does. He did not say it in a mean or rude way, but in an amused tone. He smiled to her as she became defensive about HER apple tree and with the kind eyes he had gotten from his mother he huffed. “I am not here to take your ‘apples’ though you should know my mum told me. Those apples do not grow until early summer late spring. And it’s a little early don’t you think?” He stopped circling her and kept his same coltish smile on as he approached. His mother had taught him a lot so far. Mainly lessons on the trees and plants around him. What was good to eat, what wasn’t?

Teppy's face fell. "You mean, I've been coming here every day for a week for no reason?" she complained, looking at the blossoms now with dismay. "I wish I knew that before."
Then Teppy circled about to face Blitz. "Then do YOU know what they look like?" she asked, her gaze prodding his. She could've asked her father the same question, but this colt seemed to know things she didn't. "And why are they tasty?"

“Well my mum says they can be different colors. Red, green, yellow…. And she says they taste as sweet as the rain makes the earth smell after a shower. Sweeter than any sweet grass or nectar flower. She told me that if she was to describe the taste. That is how it is.”
He smiled. Not knowing that he was actually very knowledgeable to this filly. Beaming he smiled and dipped his head in a foolish manner, shaking it.
“I’m Blitz, its short for Blitzkrieg, though I like blitz better.”

"Mmm, sounds more pretty than tasty!" Still, she imagined it and it was delicious. She closed her eyes and let her imagination carry her. "Wooow, I can't wait until the apples grow. I want to try one for myself."
She opened her eyes again. "My name is Temperance, but it's too long to say all of the time. Teppy, for short," she said sweetly with a shake of her head and a stomp of a deep red hoof. "Blitz, huh? I like it!"

He smiled at the little fillies wonder on the apples and hooped alittle as they stood there. Looking over to the tree he breathed in deep. It emmitted quite a pleasant odor that filled Blitz with happiness. He smiled and lipped her name in his mind before speaking it aloud.
“Teppy… hmm that’s interesting. Do you know what it means? Momma says mine means ‘lightening war’”

"'Lightening war'? Kind of a tough meaning, don't you think?" Teppy cocked her head to one side, smiling at him good-naturedly. "My name means.... 'm-moderation', I think." She said the word carefully, like it was strange in her mouth. "I'm not sure why she called me that."
"Well, Blitz, what brings you over to my apple tree?" She asked suddenly, trotting around the trunk once eagerly. Except for her brother and sister, Teppy didn't have too many other foals to play with. "Want to do something?"
