Having evaided capture by his father once again, Lucky had taken off for another adventure. He'd return home soon enough, but now that he was out of his basket he wanted to explore. His father said the colt had something called a 'wandering spirit'.
Whatever that meant.
Each day he moved a bit furthur away from home. In his mind, he figured, if he explored a little bit more on his walks then if he got lost he'd know the way home. This day, he decided to head west of the little grove his family called home. Towards the land where the sun slept. Though no matter how far he went, he never seemed to reach that mysterious land. Which made him quite curious what kind of bed the sun slept in. Must of been really comfy and big for sure!
Coming upon a little stream that cut across a field of tall grass, the little colt stopped for a quick drink. Lowering his head, his short mane moved back and forth as a quick breeze blew against his back. It was a slow day. Not much really to do or happening.
These kinds of adventures bored him greatly. Where did one have to go to get a little excitement around here?

Little black wings beat against the air as the tiny filly fought to stay above the ground. She had been practicing with her father for a while now but this was her first solo flight and one she had needed to sneak away to do. The fear that her father would drop down from above her at any moment made flight significantly harder. She was fairly certain that he would show up too, since she had taken his lunch.
She laughed a little imagining the look on his face but quickly decided this was a bad idea as she started choking. "Note...too...self...flying makes you breath hard." She whined sounding rather pathetic. She wanted to rest, flying was fun but it was tiresome.
Brown eyes focused on the area around her trying to find a nice place to rest, a smile fell on her face when she spotted something her size not to far off. She straightened up a bit and began to glide on the air acting like it was nothing. "Hey." She called to the other hoping that she didn't fall straight out of the sky like she had on so many occasions.

Green eyes nearly popped out of his head as Lucky started to choke on the water he had been drinking. The sudden 'hey' out of no where startled him slightly. And he cursed himself mentally for not paying attention to his surroundings. But he was just so thirsty!
After a few coughs and hacks here, he quickly lifted his head and looked up to see a filly with black wings gliding about in the air. Turning around quickly, a wide grin spread across his face as his short tail wiggled back and forth. "Hey!"
Lucky always felt awkward around others who had wings. He himself was the only one out of his siblings who didn't have any. But his father assured him that he was special in his own way and didn't need wings to accomplish anything. Of course, his father didn't have any wings either so...
Banishing those thougts for a moment, he galloped a few steps towards where she was flying. Or at least what it seemed to look like where she was 'trying' to fly.

An automatic oops look jumped on her face when he started choking. She hadn't meant to kill him! When he finally spoke she relaxed and smiled. She returned to her glide back to the Earth grinning on the inside to see the other foal coming right up next to her. Now for the tricky part....landing.
She gulped and beat her wings a few times trying to straighten herself. Her eyes squeezed shut and she waited for something to go horribly wrong so that she would still manage to crash. When she touched down finally she gasped.
"I did it!" She exclaimed grinning widely at the other foal. "I did it! And you saw it! I didn't crash land! I just landed!" Her excitement was almost gushing out of her. She had never successfully touched down before. It was a momentous occasion.
"You saw it, and you, you have to tell everyone that I did it okay!" She tilted her head to the side after a second and laughed. "Who are you anyway?"

Lucky was still in awe as he watched the filly glide down to the earth. It must of been nice to be able to fly, though the colt still preferred to keep his hooves on the ground.
Her excitement at making a successful landing made him excited. And Lucky's little heart started beating really really fast as the adrenaline rushed through him. He wasn't quite too sure what the excitement was all about, as he figured if you had wings you pretty much knew how to fly and land automatically.
"I did see!" He exclaimed. Short little tail flicking back and forth behind him wildly. Nodding his head, Lucky shot the filly a grin. "Of course! I'll tell everyone and know what a great lander you are!"
When she laughed and asked who he was, the colt puffed out his chest. "The names Lucky 13, Lucky for short. And who are you?" Green eyes looked the filly over curiously. She was an interesting combination of...whatever it was she was combined from. Lucky wasn't quite used to lighter colored Soquili. In fact, all of his family was dark colored and Rahu was dark as well. So it was something really new to him.

His excitement from her excitement was only building her enthusiasm over the entire situation. "Great!!! Really really great!" Her tiny wings began to flutter uncontrollable as they often did when she wasn't calm. They stilled quite suddenly at his name. Her eyes went wide and her mouth slowly opened into a small 'o'.
"Lucky?" She asked a tanned ear flicking backwards. "Like lucky luck? The luck like the luck that makes you lucky? How cool!" This was amazing. She needed luck big time. Her landing made sense now. He was lucky and not just in name.
"I'm Carmine and I'm gonna be the best thief there is! If you're lucky then you should stick around, kay?"

"Uh-huh, mmmyep. Lucky as in luck. The luck that makes you lucky. And I'm the luckiest there is in the world!" His grin seemed to spread a mile wide. Lucky was proud of his name and it often got a certain reaction out of people.
But he was lucky indeed. Or so his father and mother said so anyway.
"Best thief there is huh? Sounds interesting." In fact it did. And when she said he should stick around well he couldn't pass up the chance. There just wasn't that much going on and perhaps there'd be some adventure. Though he wasn't all too sure what a thief was, did it matter? "Ok then."

Her brown eyes began to sparkle. The luckiest? She had found the luckiest? Perhaps her fortunes were not that bad after all. She'd have to be fairly lucky herself to find the luckiest creature after all. "That's simply amazing." Her amazement for the whole thing had made her voice change from quick and excited to slow and wondrous in a matter of seconds.
As she continued to stare at him her mouth slowly began to open. It was like she was caught in a day dream though nothing was really running through her mind except the words 'he's lucky'. When she realized she was spacing she quickly snapped her mouth shut and laughed.
"Sorry bout that!" She said quickly hoping that she hadn't scared him or anything. Her eyes had a tendency to simply glaze over when she wasn't focused on anything. It could be a bit disturbing or so she had been told. "Yup! I'm gonna be a thief, like my dad, 'cept 'bout a million times better!" She puffed out her chest and pointed her nose up in the air proudly. She would be a great thief and with a luck bringing partner the gigs would be a breeze!

Lucky raised an eyebrow curiously as she seemed to stare off into space. Curious as to what the winged filly was thinking about. Had he said something weird?
His curious look soon melted into another grin as his tail wiggled back and forth. Even he was getting more excited with her excitement. "A million times better? That sounds like a lot. I'm not really good at stealin' things so I'm not sure what use I could really be...." Ears pricked up for a second as he got an idea. "Well, I suppose I could beat up whoever messes with ya. That way you can be a great theif!"
Nodding his head rapidly, he lowered his head and bounced around on his hooves. "My dads the greatest fighter in the world! Took on a whole group of Kalona and Skinwalkers once he did! And he said he'd teach me how ta' fight! So....yea!"

She nodded frantically. "It is a lot! And it'll be great and easy too!" She didn't bother to mention that this was because her dad hadn't been much of a thief lately. He'd been more preoccupied with other things that she hadn't bothered to ask about.
She slouched realising she didn't know what he could do either. She had sort of though he could just follow her around and keep her company but just watching on heists didn't sound like any fun. She snapped straight up at his sudden suggestion and began beaming like a lantern. "Yeah! Yeah that would be great! They'd be all like 'grr you can't have that' and then you'd be all like 'oh yes she can' and then knock em silly!" She began laughing almost uncontrollably as a rather comical scene played through her mind.
The excitement was not over yet though as she imagined a bigger version of lucky surrounded by a pack of rather vicious looking kalona and a rather out of proportion coyote. "Wow..." Her eyes were as big and round as the moon. "So then you're gonna be able to do the same thing then, but better cause you're luckier! I bet that they'd never even land a hit on you!"

The colt laughed at her sillyness. But her little rendition of what could happen is what made it even funnier. Shaking his head, his short little mane wobbled back and forth. "Yea yea! And if they try and come lookin' for ya to take their thing back I'll knock 'em silly again!"
He noticed her eyes go wide and he nodded his head quite vigerously this time. Lucky was often told stories like this by his dad, and he believed them even if they seemed almost impossible. Of course, Cadaver would only tell them as bed time stories and really hadn't meant for Lucky to really believe in them. But apparently he did. "Of course! I'll be able to take on a hunerd Kalona and a hunerd Skinwalkers once I'm bigger, no question."

This was awesome in so many ways she couldn't count them. Or maybe she could. She landed. Made a friend. A fun friend. Now had someone to beat up the unwanted company in her life. On top of all that he was lucky! "And if they got the guts to show again youll take 'em out 'gain right?" She knew the answer already but it just seemed like she should ask.
"A hundred of both?!" Her wings were beginning to flutter uncontrolably with excitement. Skinwalkers and Kalona were mean according to her papa. He said they should mostly be avoided because they were 'vicious' whatever that was. Lucky 13 would have to be amazing to be able to say that. Not one to be out done, however, Carmine decided it was her time to shine again.
"And if any more show up I'll help out! Take 'em down from the skies cause you know I'm gonna fly better then any o' those nasty beasties."

Nodding again he laughed. "Of course! But I doubt they'll think trying for a second time around. They'll be too beat up to even ponder the thought!"
Puffing out his chest once more, his face beaming with pride. "Heck yea! Those monsters won't know what hit em! I'll be all 'Bwahahah!' and they'll be all 'Oh no! Don't hurt us! We're sorry!" Snapping his head back, he gave a hearty laugh which echoed slightly. Though how loud it was sort of startling him momentarily.
Glancing at her wings, he leaned forward to sniff at the for a second before pulling back. "Yea yea! After that awesome landing you'll be an ace in the sky! They won't know what him em!"

She started laughing feeling rather empowered by this kind of talk. "Yeah! They'll be all like 'we're so helpless and lame' and we'll be all like 'we're so cool'." She paused in her laughter as he sniffed at her wing. She took a few steps back and gave her muscle man an odd look.
"Yeah, an ace. Totally." She tried to sound as enthusiastic as she had before but her voice came out rather flat. She simply could not wrap her mind around why someone would try and smell her wing. Curiously she lifted her wing and bent down to smell it herself. It just smelt like her. This was going to bother her for a while so with a long breath she folded her wing back to her side and looked back at Lucky.
"There some reason you wanted t'smell my wing?" She asked cocking her head to the side.

When she stopped laughing and her enthusiasm died down, so did his. He raised an eyebrow in slight bewilderment and then she asked that question.
Did he do something weird? Perhaps he just invaided her personal space a bit too soon? Crap. He always did this sometimes. But he was just used to the actions perhaps, which made people look at him oddly.
Shuffling his hooves, green eyes looked away quickly. "I just--wondered what they smelt like is all. Don't have any of my own so how am I suppose to know what they smell like?" He didn't have any qualms about not having wings like Carmine or his brother. Rather, he'd like to keep his hooves on the ground as much as possible.
