Sable had been walking along...minding her own busine-
Ok fine, she was looking for trouble, alright? The problem was that someone, some silly person had a bad sense of humor of something. Not that Sable didn't and could thus relate... But regardless of that there is this tree...
It is a normal looking tree, and Sable passed by it every single bloody day since she appeared in Mia's house. The tree had normal green leaves, a normal twisted trunk like the thousands of trees just like it in the forest a little bit further down.
So when Sable decided that this really creepy house which she had to pass by every single day, was worth her looking more into, Sable decided the tree was the best method of approach.
Mistake number one...and as far as Sable was concerned the only bloody mistake she could make considering what it did. Stupid tree.
Sable had walked down the path like normal, but curved slightly at the end to naturally approach the tree. She put her hand on its trunk to test the bark before she climbed, only to feel it sink a little.
Naturally overly curious Sable pushed a little more until she um... "fell through" the trunk. Branches then lept down around her body and pulled her up while within the trunk until she was a fair height up.
And left her there.
In a tree.

It was yet another night out.
Tori was occupied for the last threedays, trying to find herbs that the customer seeked. It was a rare herb - its ability to heal a cut in a matter of seconds. The discription that the customer gave just wasn't enought to pinpoint where it would be.
Thank goodness the wind wasn't that cold. Just a mild breeze swept through the forest, rocking them into their night time adventure.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ooooooo
"Hey, Tori... Wake up!! It's time to go out to search. We might as well start early and end early," Millie called out with a stretch, only to see Tori was no where near waking up. She tried everything, but nothing happened - Tori was a famous sound sleeper afterall. After several minutes without success, Millie sat down beside Tori and listened to the souds of the awakening forest. They felt like they were groaning - yawning as it crawled out of the sleep. She'll have to wait a bit...just a bit till Tori woke up on her own and them off into another searching mission.

Sable didn't like much being in a tree, let alone how to get out of one. IT felt peculiar and she didn't like that she couldn't rest her limbs that were forces to hang out by simply being suspended. It hurt slightly, and she was sure that splinters were coming. But her pride was strong, and Sable wouldn't say a word, she would wait until she either saw something of interest, or someone found her.

"So, Millie," Tori said rubbing her eyes. It was near mid-sun and she finally decided to wake up, "we'll get going now, shall we?"
Within several minutes, they packed up their packing equipment and headed out into the forest. This time, though, they took a path that has already been made. It was probably made for frequent market traders, making their way to the Monday marketplace in the city.
"Millie, tell me when you see a glowing bluegreen looking plant...it's said to grown inside a special tree..." Tori said with a full mouth. Walking and eating - that was her habit on her work. Millie sighed. "You told me enough times already... and i don't think I'll see anything that rare on a..." Millie quickly tugged on Tori's jacket. Maybe it was just her, but she saw a glow coming from within a tree, perhaps 140 years old, just a bit down the road. "Hey Tori, do you think that might be it?" she asked. "Whadda you mean?" Tori said, squinting her eyes in the direction that Millie was pointing at. Rolling her eyes, Millie grabbed onto Tori's arm and dragged her towards the tree.
Tonk Tonk Tonk
Tori examined the tree carefully. It was possible that there could be the plant somewhere around here. She carefully placed her hand around the bark, checking or any signs of the plant, until (of course) Millie pointed out that the glow was coming from a place high on top of the tree.
"Uh--oh.. how are we going to get up there?" Tori said leaning against the tree. Then, without a mistake, the bark sank in. "VUOI!" Tori cried as she leaped away from the tree. "What is this tree?"

"I don't know." Sable answered, even though she was certain she wasn't asked, "I just want out please?" she begged to the voices she heard below her. It was fortunate that her hair was short, so it wasn't caught inside the bark, she had a bit of visibility down, but for the most part it was blocked by lower branches and their leaves.
She wished that whoever it was would find a way up to her fast, or at least figure out how to undo the tress's action.

By then, Tori was beyond amused - she was in love with the mystical talking tree. She started to run around in circles around the tree, crying out - THE TREE IS ALIVE, until Millie caught her in the shoulder.
"Tori, it isn't the tree that's talking...it seems someone is hid between the branches of this tree..." she said with a sigh. Even though Tori was older than herself, it seemed that she was more mature...in some ways anyways. Letting go of Tori, Millie tried to look around the tree, only to discover...nothing. Puffing out her cheeks, Tori stared at Millie. "I was hoping the tree was alive though...it would've been a great discovery..." Tori put her hands against the trunk. "If only it would talk!" She gave a little push...and well, fell through.
Branches swept Tori off her feet and lifted her up into the air. Was she inside the tree itself?? "Cool" was the only word Tori thought of at the moment. When the branches stopped rising, Tori looked around, only to bump into the side of...a bluegreen glowing figure. "Wah.. who are you?"
MEANWHILE
Millie was trying to find the mysterious voice of the tree, yet didn't find anything. What she also didn't know was that Tori has completely disappeared from her sights also.

"I'm Sable," the pixie girl smirked, "pressed the tree to hard didn't you?" she mused, half asking, half just simply saying it because it was obvious that the person had, and her saying it might confirm to them that she too, had been a victum of the tree but not really a tree. "My mom says it is polite to curtsy or shake hands at this point, but I don't think she meant like this...or do I think it possible." She continued to talk, mostly because she liked talking, "who is with you... I reconize you... I think... if I could see you better..." she wiggled to try to veiw the person below her better, without the branches it was easier, but this person was now so close her own body became a hinderande, "and the girls voice, have we met?"

"Why, hello there," Tori replied with a little laugh, "how odd meeting a person IN a tree..ahaha." She intended to bow back, but poked herself in the eye instead. "YAOUCH" Tori heard the girl shuffling to get a better look, and looking at her (with one eye covered...the tree branch did hurt ) she recognized the familiar figure. The girl - looked familiar... very familiar, and it seemed that the girl recognized her too.
"Have we met?" the girl asked.
"hmmm...maybe we have..." Tori said putting her hand against her mouth this time. Deep in thought, she tried to remember where she might've seen this girl. During her job, she met numerous people - clients, wanderers, shop owners - and this girl, being so unique, she couldn't have forgotten. Then, she realized, that there was that time in the forest when she met a young boy and a girl wandering around.
"Ah-hah! You were that girl from.. the forest, weren't you?" Tori asked with certainty, "You were with a boy that time, he was about your age...."

"Aha!" Sable gasped, "That's it!" she decided, and thought the situation through her head, she barely remembered the girls name from before let alone the guardian with her, "You were with miss kill joy... Milla I think?" Sable asked, regardless she believed that she was close enough for it not to matter, "I never caught you name before tho... I'm Sable." She nodded.
This woman was alright, sable thought to herself, after all she had also gotten herself caught in the tree.

Tori burst out into a LOUD laughter. The girl did remember her, however, the names weren't just there yet. "Well, Sable," Tori said pulling on her hair, "I'm Tori, and the other girl...is Millie," It was quite interesting to be in this tree after all, at least she had some company. Tori looked around, It took Tori lots of moments though, to realized that Millie wasn't with her, but she was down below on the ground, looking for the glowing plant.
DOWN BELOWW~
Millie heard laughter - it came from the tree, again, and she just couldn't figure out where it was coming from. "Tori come here!" Millie cried out, waving her arm at the place where Tori once stood but not looking at it. She just was too occupied. This job, would secure their living for a month or two anyways. "Tori, hurry Up!" Millie cried again, and this time, she looked - she looked at the empty spot, then came to realize that Tori wasn't with her. "Tori?....where are you?....."
UP AGAINN~
For sure, Tori heard Millie cry out for her. "Millie...oh god..."Tori murmured. She kicked the tree branches really hard, hoping that she could get away from its grasp. She kicked as hard as she could, but the only thing happened...well... her boots fell off. It fell down, deep down, into the tree, and...fell out of the trunk. The bark wavered a bit, spitted out her boots in front of Millie, then returned back to its original form.

"gee... I found that kicking the thing didn't do much good. I would also recommend not attempting to wiggle, push tug or otherwise cause yourself to rash where you are attached to the wood. It wont work Tori, or I'd be down. " Sable explained to Tori, hoping the woman understood.
Though as much as the woman seemed nice she couldn't help but think that trying to get Millie into all this wouldn't be of much help.
Down
"When I find that girl I'm going.... Millie?" Mia looked over near the perfectly normal looking tree and saw the small girl looking around as if lost. The girl never appeared to be so independent, in fact Mia got the impression that she was a good child who listened well to her, odd, guardian. "Millie Yohoo!" Mia waved and ran over, "What are you doing here all by yourself child?"

"I wonder.. what happened to the tree...and Tori's boots? what are they doing here?" Millie thought to herself as she bent down to pick up the boot. Tori had disappeared, and now the tree had given her Tori's boots? What if.. what if the tree ate Tori?? At this thought, Millie started to panic a bit. Without Tori, there wouldn't be anything.. and without her...
Millie broke out of her thoughts as someone called her name. The voice was familiar...and she quickly recalled the voice. It belonged to Mia, the woman she met a while ago in town. "Ah, Mia!" Millie cried out as she jogged towards her. "I really need help... You know, um, Tori kind of disappeared around here...I think.. I think she was eaten by the tree." She held up Tori's boots infront of her, showing it to Mia. "The tree just spat this back at me a few moments ago..."
Up UP UPP~
"Haha.. i guess so," Tori replied, rubbing her sides. The branches did hurt a bit. "I'm just worried you see," she said with a sigh, "Millie always overthinks situations, and panics every time i'm not around...and since she's alone in the forest too, i just thought anything could happen." Tori wiggled her toes, feeling the absense of her frog boots. If they didn't figure out a way down soon, she couldn't imagine what was going to happen.

"Millie dear..." Mia started looking at the girl perplexed, she seemed like such a well mannered girl, "Trees can't eat people you know that right?" she explained. She thought of Tori, and wanted to hit the ill-suited and immature guardian, "Tori is probably just playing tricks on you." She decided, trying to giggle.
Up?
"Look! Its hopeless number two..." Sable muttered hearing her guardian approach and talk to Millie. "Know what Tori? I think Mia has an unhealthy lack of imagination..." She confessed to the woman.
She thought that at this point it was silly to pretend that she was still sneaking in. She considered shouting, but the result with two hopeless beings below, would be scaring them away, not getting them to notice.
But seriously... what was with this tree?

"But, Mia,"said in a quite voice,"Tori would never play tricks...She is kind of slow at times, and doesn't understand things correctly, but I know she won't play any kind of jokes on me."gled a bit, recalling all the moments she had with Tori. Somehow, she felt safe around Mia. Mia did carry a different feel than Tori. She was a full adult, while Tori, well, she was more like a friend than a guardian.
"Um... If you won't mind, will you be able to help me find Tori?" Millie asked. Maybe Mia was better at finding people than her. Afterall, she did have to chase around Sable all the time.
UP~
"Ah! I see! some help has come!" Tori replied in a bright voice, however, after hearing Sable's comments, her hope shrank back in. She heard Millie and Mia talking and twitched when she heard Millie's comments. "Wah.. I'm depressed," She murmured swinging back and forth from the tree."
Sighing deeply, Tori thought deeply for a moment. What if, this tree was alive? It did held onto herself and Sable tight enough so they were hanging, plus it did reach for both of them and 'pulled' the up here, so what if, just what if... Without any further hesitations, Tori wrapped her right hand around one of the branches, and started to tickle the tree. 'If this tree is alive, then it should feel the tickle!'

"Of course I'll help you!" Mia responded and pounded her hands together, " I still have to get Sable back too, so lets get Tori back first!" she winked at the child. "The first things one ought to do is-"
up
The tree surged. Sable doubted it would feel a tickle, since it didn't mind being thrashed much, but tickling the tree was kind of amsuing so she joined in, giggling at the obscurity of it all.
Then she stopped. The tree...flexed? ....maybe it was ticklish! She went at it with fervor with Tori and surely enough the tree was ticklish. How they got inside the living thing was another story entirely apparently... one Sable really wanted to learn.
So when she felt the tree losen its hold on her she grabed a brach to stop herself from falling. But apparently she wasn't that acrobatic since her fingers slipped and she feel down....
Down!
...falling on top of Mia just as her guardian finished her sentence with "Stay put..."
Mia sighed, "Sable... why were you in the tree?" she asked the girl.
Sable was more concerned about where Tori went however, looking over at Millie she told the girl "shouting really loud also helps..." with that she turned and took a deep breath before shouting "TORI!!!!!! YOU ARE A BLOODY GENIUS!"
