Have you ever thought one day your life doesn't fit your surroundings. That at some point you begin to question the social structure, or just don't fit in like everyone else. Oh sure doctors and therapists will tell you that its all because of this syndrome or this disease. No matter the condition you suffer in the social structure of the present, you still feel far from normal.
However, what is normal, has it ever been truly defined, because with every human being being different on so many levels. Even an average isn't truly acurate, but accepted nonetheless to just make everyone feel better. Everyone tells you what you want to hear, and likewise you to them at times.
In this particular RP, my lovely guiena pig Yami chan, gets dragged from the present world. Aka the reality we sign on to escape, all the hype, realtionships, schools, JOBS *stabs with many knives, but just can't kill the beast*, and Drama, oh my word drama is everywhere.
So lovely Yami chan, who know's this plot very well because simply put I'm dragging it out of MSN on a purpose and putting it here so my subforum gets used more, and I get into a habit of using gaia again. (not to mention there is a past donation item i want) So why put it here if yami and I already know it, well lets put it this way, yami plays yami and two others, I play three mains, and about...i dunno....all the other NPC's. So i figured, why not bring your old demon cronicle characters into this RP, take the load off me, and give poor Yami the guiena pig from this reality, and big lovely dose of a magical world.
So lets make the rules clear although i won't have many.
1: Common sense, and the guild rules that are well god to me as they are god to you. I know, burn me later for my blasphemy.
2: communicate with other players, players are people, and people can get offended. I am not having a whine and cry thread because someone did something another didn't like. C'mon people, common snese dictates if you don't know what to do then ask, and for those who tossed common sense into the garbage, i should hear from you more often.
Alright here is pretty much the background. Centruies ago a tribial leader disatisfied with what happened to his people used some very power magic to reign in two angels that worked for death. Their unvoluntary actions got them cursed to stay on the earth until they were set free by their mistress or master.
However, the land is split into four main kingdoms, the northern kingdom ruled by man and the beasts that serve man's plan to dominate the world and other kingdoms, the southern kingdom mostly made up of mountains and the fertile valleys found in them are home to various other races of magical beings, some who don't agree to heartily with what man is doing or his ambitions. The sad part is they do nothing about it and man come and took over that kingdom, but under loose control with so odds of 2 men per every 40 creature who didn't really want them there. That kingdom of man wars with the northern kingdom more to keep the population from revolting within and well ceasing to exists. The eastern kingdom is defensive only, primarily made up of forests, the men and beasts there live peacefully in coexistance, and strictly maintain the borders. The south and the north both dispute the border of the eastern kingdom and skirmishes take place on a regular basis.
No full out army marches form either of north or southkingdoms to attack the eastern kingdom. as the true strength of the eastern kingdom has never been determined, as in no spy has ever survived long enough to report it. It has been primarily a politcal fight rather then anything serious in nature.
The western kingdom has been prized by all three kingdoms, for it is rich in ground, but it is rulled by the dragons of the mist, fearsome warriors with a reputation for leaving nothing alive. It was a forest on their border that became a hotspot for a dispute that lead to the tribal leader summoning the girls to his side. He waged his fight on all parties, and was very successful against even the greatest of odds with the power to control death in his hands, and ressurection so easily commanded.
The dragons of the mist wroked hard to settle most of the other disputes long enough to unite the kingdoms to defeat the foe. When the leader was finally slain the girls were still cursed to the earth, and their heir was too young to set them free, but the temptation of man was very great. Not to mention the fragile peace was waning in the twilight of the tribal leaders defeat. The dragons of the mist sealed the girls into a moutian overlooking their highest mountain village. hidden from the eyes by a thick mist where their names come from, any who had gone seeking this power never returned with it.
Had they even made it, it took a key, this key tied both the bearer to the girls, and opened the door in the mountain. It was sent with the heir into another dimension, our dimension, and it was in this world yami grew up. Never knowing anything about her past, or about the key about her neck. The drawback to this is one from that time era came back to this world. His name was Hamlin, and perhaps a boy too smart for a world, and applying his gifted intelligence to become a rather sought after assassin.
Everything changes one lovely afternoon during the walk home from school for Yami. The wars that raged on after the peace had fallen were quickly consuming the population of all the kingdoms. Even the defensive eastern kingdom was reluctant to bring in their full force and risk an open war. So they remained on the dwindling supply of volunteers who would defend their border.
It was in a forest a days march into the eastern kingdom, that Yami was so reclessly brought back into, and it was in this forest that Hamlin lived. hamlin kept to himself with his child, Tama was a product of his lustful ways, Tama is perhaps as strong willed as her father, and stubborn as a mule. There is only one thing she loves, and that is the teaching that Hamlin gives her on his trade. hamlin enjoys his youth at only 22 and with Tama at 8, but in the back of his mind he knows the war that is a day away can come at any time. However, the power needed to stop it all was too far away, and very dangerous to seek even for his skills."
The story will start as Yami so giftedly walked a short cut through a woods, and by her lovely luck, the same gateway that brought her there, just happened to be right in her path. So she exits into hamlins woods, and that is where we begin.
Now for those who are wishing to use your old DC characters, pick any kingdom, but just remember what they are doing. It will affect how you are treated down the line of events to unfold. Oh and we need to wait for yami to post first, so whenever yami chan."

(and you caught me on one of my more creative days damn it...where are ya when I need you AND WHY DOES HE STILL HAVE THE KID!? Is he still married too? *sighs*)
Yami sighed walking through the woods behind her house reflecting on the past few years of her rather annoying existence. She'd become selfless even in her own poverty, but covered it up with a selfish childish facade and hid any sign of being intelligent by allowing her grades to slip to an almost drop-out level. Her mother and father, well her adoptive parents had ditched her when she was to young to remember, and so she'd always taken care of herself. She really was talented in writing and drawing and her voice when she was brave enough to use it was beautiful. But today was not one of those days.
She sighed stepping carefully over a branch trying to keep her skirt from ripping. She'd already mended it five times in the same place. She hated her school uniform. It like her was just a little to dirty and hid any sign of beauty she had.
It was growing late by the time she decided to head back when she heard something and went to check in out. But she was tired and it was dark and she tripped over the root of a root falling straight into a portal, passing out from the fall.
------------
Yami woke up confused at best as she looked around, noticing her skirt hem had re-ripped. She shook her head grumbling as she stood up and poked her nose around trees, trying to keep quiet out of fear for what might be in the woods. It was only then that she noticed the dead silence of the forest.
"Where....where am I?" she asked in her honey-sweet voice, coming no higher than a whisper as she clutched her school bag ever closer to her. "I couldn't have gone anywhere...I just tripped..." She tried to hide her own panic as she lifted her necklace from underneath her school shirt, clutching the cold metal tightly in her hands
"I must be loosing my mind."

(i keep her because she is so damn cute to let die in some folder, and your only requirement is that they get married so deal with it)
Hamlin was busy teaching Tama the fine art of spin throwing when she stood up from her pose and pointed to a far off flock of birds rising into the air. "Someone's coming from the southeast papa." Hamlin nodded; "Very good Tama, but why don't you stir up the fire a bit. The smoke will travel and get whomever's attention. We'll wait for them to investigate and then we will see what is going on?" Tama did as she was told, and Hamlin handed her a long overcoat. "Go out aways and wait in cover, do not break cover until you hear my voice talking, creep up behind and prevent any escape, and kill only if you've a clear shot and I give you the signal to do so."

(true)
Yami's eyes trailed to the sky and widened almost with joy "People....real people. They'll have to be over there...and then they can tell me where I am and how to get home and everything. " Yami forgot that she had been trying do hard to be quiet and simply ran as fast as she could towards the fire, figuring she had nothing to fear.

Tama watched Yami run right by her position, and from the look of her clothes Tama assumed she was perhaps someone of value trying to contract her father's services. However, by not going throught he proper methods she put herself in a position to be murdered before the offer was even made.
Yami ran into a empty campsite, a few of the daggers that Tama had been practicing with were still stuck in the side of a dead tree. Two horses were tethered on the far side and they looked at her with mild interest before going back to chewing on the bushes within reach.
hamlin watched Yami for a few minutes before stepping out from behind the tree. He looked yami over for a few minutes and his eyes hovered on the necklace. He humphed; "Have a rough trip did you? however, before you answer let me make one thing clear, that necklace you are wearing, tuck it in under your shirt, it may be for show, but it can get you killed here."

Yami would have screamed being so startled like that, but she'd been expecting someone to be here and was glad her suspicions proved correct. Her eyes drifted over tot he daggers and she gulped, but it was his words that really got her attention as her hand unconsciously went up to the key and she looked at her clothes "Trip? Rough?" she shook her head gently seeming to force her voice out because it was to scared to work.
"My clothes always look like this....I always look l like this. But what do you mean by here? Surely you're not suggesting I'm in a different forest? I mean...all I did was trip. And you yourself look human enough. Surely you're just camping..." she looked at the two horses "With your wife or a family member perhaps?" Her curious eyes didn't leave him this time taking all of him in slowly as her mind attempted to cope with the notion that she was not in the forest she'd started in.
"And killed...over this?" she lifted it out enough to look at it herself, but didn't put it under her shirt "It's just an old necklace. I think my parents left it to me when they left me on those horrible people's doorstep, but I can't be sure. It's nothing to get killed over though."

"Well lets say you no longer where you think you are, and won't be for some time. If my hunch is correct you are the one they sent and i was the one that was the trade off. So yes that key can get you killed, if it is the orginal key to the door in the mountain they you are in very very grave danger. matter of fact i now telling you to put it under your shirt, because if someone is watching us you can be killed along with us." Hamlin moved to sit near the fire and motioned for yami to come sit down as well. "Come on, just tuck it in and come over here, there is allot fo things I need to tell you and then we must get moving."

Yami's eyes grew distrusting and distant as she clung to the key with her hand. She had some level of common sense and new better than to just get near a total stranger who's talking about getting killed without more details. She just had to ignore her hunger and fatigue and she would be completely fine. "How do I know you won't just kill me the second I sit down." her eyes trailed over to the daggers and then very quickly back to him "I mean...you don't seem to be the friendliest of people." She felt herself gulp and take a step back as she looked Hamlin over.
"And you're right there are a lot of things you need to tell me, but I'm not dumb enough to sit next to you and risk my life that way....so if you don't mind I think I'll head back to where I cam from and find my way home now. Unless you have proof that I can trust you...and that you're not just going to use me or my body and then leave me dead or dying in a ditch somewhere."

Hamlin laughed; "Go back, Girl you have no clue what just happened do you, you are no longer in the world of white picket fences, cars, and fancy technolgy. You are in a world that people will kill you over a tamato in your hand, bloodthristy kings, and all manner of magical beasts who are just trying to survive. humankind in this world are searching for one object, one object that will turn the tide in their favor and give them superority over the rest of everyone else. That very piece of jewelry you hold is a key to a door in the mountain, if the waring kings find out you have it, and if they catch you. they will do worse things then rape you and leave you dying in a ditch. Now if you are done acting like your just dreaming this, get over here and sit, because had i wanted you dead, my dather would have killed you already. She still can with a signal, so shut up, get over here, and sit down. you have allot to listen to, and very little time to hear it in."

"I was never a part of a world with white picket fences unless they were being used as weapons thank you very much. And I don't have a tomato...I don't even like tomatoes. I like apples if you must know, and killing over apples is foolishness, they're peaceful." she spoke walking closer to him ignoring her school girl crush that she could feel forming "I lived on the streets though...so I don't know a whole lot about any of those things you mentioned...and a place with magic? I doubt it.....it sounds like a place I would fit in, thus I doubt it's existence."
She felt herself sit beside him and couldn't help but lean on him from exhaustion, it had just been so long since she'd slept and felt safe. Something about this man just made her feel a little better. Maybe his bluntness... "If you think this means I trust you...don't flatter yourself. You're shoulder is just comfier than concrete. So you might as well start explaining now, so that there's a glimmer of hope that I'm still awake by the time we have to get moving again...or so you mentioned....something about moving."

"Then rest, because I will not have you falling asleep as I explain. I am only going to do it once. However we'll do that back at my house, soon as Tama is done doing her sweep back into camp here." Hamlin siad nothing else as he stired the fire up some.

Yami glared at him and shook her head "I don't fall asleep or rest any place I don't feel at least fifty percent safe. You have daggers here and you threatened my life with your daughter. I don't sleep often, so I've trained myself to stay awake through the most boring of explanations, so you might as well start explaining. You fought so hard to get me to sit down doe the explanation anyway, so you might as well."

Well i was hoping to avoid this but i guess i can fill you in." Hamlin sighed; "You were sent to that world or dimension to take that key you are holding as far away from mortal hands here. The reason you are back is unclear to me as I have fallen out of contact with the dragons of the mist. However, what is known to me is that every mortal person or beast desiring a large fortune is seeking that key you wear. The king of the north desires it to unlock the power sealed in the mountain, and he has many spies within the other kingdoms. One breath of word reaches his lips that the original has resurfaced here, and he would march an army of untold number to get it. He would stop at nothing to get it, but he is not the only one after it."
Hamlin indicated a seat and a rather dusty but pretty girl sat down and she nodded to Yami. "So is she the one Papa?" Hamlin nodded; "She is, and completely clueless so we will need to take her to the dragons of the mist. So rest up while you can because we leave at first light." Tama looked at Yami; "Lady i will only say this once, my name is Tama, and you listen to my father as if your life depended on it. Do those two things and you will live, although i doubt i will kill you for not remembering my name." Tama got up and moved over to unroll a blanket and laid down on it. Hamlin went on explaining; "As I was saying many are after it, some with magic, others with great skill at fighting, but the end result will be the same. They will kill you for the key, because that key is the only thing seperating them from the strongest power in the land. One that can destroy whole armies, and control the undead and dead."
Hamlin kicked dirt on the fire putting it out which left the setting sun as the only light available. "I haven't chosen yet, I want nothing to do with that key, but on the other hand I don't think it belongs in anyone elses hands but yours. I'll take you as far as the dragons of the mist, they will sort out your problems and give you a better idea of what is going on then i can. Not to mention you would be absolutely safe there, here we are vunerable to attack, and despite my efforts to keep the rif raff out they filter in like bad insects. Now get some sleep and I will tell you more as we ride in the morning, but tuck that damn thing in or I will take it from you."

Yami looked over at Tama as her hand tucked the key carefully underneath her school shirt "She's a pleasant child..." she murmured softly as her eyes drifted tiredly over to Hamlin "I'm going to stick out anyway. Judging by your clothes. Might as well leave the key on display and say 'here come and get it guys'." She almost laughed, but stopped herself figuring joking might be unwelcome.
She smiled slightly "I take it that you mean to dump me off there and leave to return here the first chance you get?" she asked "Why not just let me find my own way....I mean I doubt you'd like the results if I got caught, but it seems like it would be less trouble to manage than trying to take me along with you somewhere...and I don't think she likes me all to much adding to the mess....so...is there something you're not telling me? You don't seem like an honest gentleman."
It wasn't that she wasn't used to uncomfortable sleeping places, but absentmindedly her head made itself comfortable on Hamlin shoulder as she ignored the cold from the night breeze. She wouldn't complain to him if it killed her. Besides maybe if she didn't complain he wouldn't move her head away and she could pretend he actually cared about her and not the key.

"As to your clothes we'll stop at my home on our way out of the kingdom, and pick up some that are more period based so as to not bring to much attention to you. As to going on by yourself, forget it, i'd rather show you the way, then suffer the consequences of someone other then the dragons getting the key. As to me it doesn't matter where I am at so long as you and that key are kept alive and in one piece. If that means watching over you once we get there that is for my instincts to decide."
