It seemed like so long ago that she'd walked this path... Despite that, it was the same now as it had been then save for some branches that had fallen across it during a storm and, perhaps, a few plants that had sprung up. She knew it was the same though and, deep down, that was all that mattered.
She had never taken to flying around as much as her mother did, although she was certain that her wings worked just fine. She was more a child of the earth than of the sky; a creature of the forest, not the clouds. Her hooves carried her on through the woods with a practiced silence to her steps as she continued.
One... Two... A slight turn and then a duck under a low branch. There... She could almost hear the stream running several paces away. She could smell the deep, dark earth again, warm with the caress of spring. She could feel the almost magical touch of the atmosphere around her, just as she had when she had come here as a foal...

A hand full of dry leaves picked up in a small wirlwind about her, almost seeming to dance in a dry and crackly greeting. The stream a burbling laugh almost as it came to view, moss slick rocks danced with by the clear stream, deceptivly shallow in appearence. And there... where she had first seen him in the crook of the tree by the river where the roots made a bend. But there was nothing there this time, only soft moss and gnarled roots, twisted and bent like his strange moss coverred hide.
Perhaps...
He had, after all, been a dream like your Brother had teased you so often.
-creaaaak- the sound of old wood, the smell of earth and old leaves stirred up and the soft step of hooves and he moved into view from deeper in the thickness of the trees till he stood there, 2 lengths away... and bowed before you, cobewebs and moss and curling horns with winking eyes.

She approached the spot where she'd seen him, leaning down for a moment touch her nose to the stream. She saw her reflection there, staring back at her, so different then it had been then... So very different.
She sighed softly as she turned, hearing her brother's taunts in the back of her head. She had been so very, very certain that it hadn't been a dream...
Lifting her head to find her path once more she saw him... Or was it just that she thought she did? She took another step, tilting her head to make sure that her eyes weren't deceiving her. "... Fauno." She smiled, letting his name fall from her lips with the soft sounds of a voice that had aged beautifully since they'd last crossed paths. "I knew I wasn't dreaming."

He straitened and fluttered his wings with the sound of dry leaves. The cobwebs and leaves drifting free.
"And what if you are dreaming now? Princess..." He queried, a hint of a laugh in his voice as he moved a step forward.
"My.... how you have grown."

"Can one dream when one does not recall falling asleep?" Her brow lofted as she tilted her head to the side. "I told you that I would return when I was certain of the way... I am sorry that it took so long. The paths look strange through eyes that are changing to view the world from a different height."

"Age does have a way of changing ones perspective, sometimes in more ways than one, do not appologize to me...It's you whom are the Princess....not I...perhaps I should appolgize, had I made my introductions of you to the trees and stones faster, perhaps you would have found your way sooner. But you fulfilled your promice to the letter...you are grown, and you are returned indeed. And you rememer what they have called me, what more could I ask of you?"

"No, you aren't a princess..." She chuckled softly, an almost musical sound. "You are something though... A fountain of wisdom, perhaps; someone to whom this 'princess' owes a favor, in the very least. You did, after all, help me find my way again... How could I not come back to repay my debt?"

He shook his head, almsost sad but at the same time, happy.
"I could not find or forge your way for you... you owe me nothing" He shook his head. "It pleases me to see you well, this place suits you, at least my eyes tell me so. You are indeed the princess you professed to be when first we met."

"This place... Frightened me when I first came here." She nodded slowly, letting her gaze linger on him for a moment before it drifted out to look at the stream. Her own eyes seemed to laugh although her facial expression seemed almost solemn. "It's the same place now... But it feels different... Almost as if it were waiting for me."
She shook her head slowly, laughing as she lowered her head. "That seems silly, doesn't it."

"Not at all" he approached her quietly fluttering his wings for a moment with a sound like dry leaves being scattered by the wind. "It is a strange place...dark and old and full of strange things, and some beautiful and dangerous as well, my Lady...and it has waited for your return, stiring in its dreams from the last time you set foot in this grove."

"Has it?" She smiled, turning her head towards the stallion. "Were its dreams as sweet as hours spent in waking? My dreams... Are never as nice as reality when I wake and realize that the things I was dreaming were no more than the thoughts of a sleeping mind. It is nice... To know that this was not a dream. That you were not a dream..." She closed her eyes, head tilting into the gentle breeze. "I do like it here... Very much."

"Dreams are often as not, what we wish the world were...and perhaps in thier own way, are as real as this, perhaps when we are dreaming...this is the dream." He was smiling, almost enigmatic.
"As for the answer... you're already listening...what...does the forrest say?"

"It tells me..." She kept her eyes closed for the moment, taking a deep breath only to release it slowly as she listened to the soft breeze rustling through the old branches and new leaves. "It tells me..." Her eyes opened as she turned her head to look to the stallion. "Mm... The gentle breeze moving through the trees tells me that I am free to come and go as I please... But wherever I may roam, I am always welcome here... Home."

He smiled, welcoming as the forest and just as strange in his own ways. "And so it does, and has said so from the moment it first called you...welcome home Princess....welcome home."
