Liana shook her head, grim expression creeping into her face, eyeing the small, very dark brown mus that sat rigidly in front of her. “Five? We lost five… How? They were all on the designated shelters right before the storm.” “Tree shook. Thunder was loud. One left and one followed.” the mus said without blinking “Wind throw branch to maple. Three fell. Twig, Leaf and Pika. Two died. One was caught below. ”
Liana took a deep breath with resigned disappointment. The first few were mus she didn’t need, one stupid enough to go against her orders and jump into a storm and another brainless enough to follow. But she shuddered at the misfortune of the last three. Especially for Twig, a tan mus of perfect size who had shown extraordinary potential and had already entered her breeding plans. And she had to admit she would probably miss the annoyingly chatty Pika… “Very well, Knot. Get back to your post.”
The dark mus nodded looking quite proud of himself and scurried off at once, quickly disappearing from view.
“Lost five.”
A voice said quietly from the keeper’s back. Liana eyed the tiny mus with a soft smile. “Yes. Yes, we did.” Feeling her most prized mus tighly holding her feathers, the aberrant keeper lifted off, hoping to spend a few moments away from the territory from which the storm had stolen a few of her charges.

The young minder had been bustling among the treetops. He had been searching for twigs, twigs that could be formed to make a well made basket. Unfortunately, Oakley had attempted the basket making many times, and had failed to notice.. well.. that he failed each time. He had made so many, and all had come out looking occasionally okay, though not practical, except for the one that had been oval in shape. That one had been odd. Even an oddball like Oakley knew that.
He'd promptly tossed it away that night, and scampered among the branches, looking for good twigs to continue his basket weaving.
He flapped his wings out, stretching far and opening his beak in a yawn. He fluffed the feathers about his neck, and tucked his wings back behind him as he came upon the other Sentinel, who seemed to be mourning certain Mus. He felt sorry for her, but his attention was drawn away by his own Mus, that had been tailing him now and trying to keep up with the larger creature. Azu glared at the Sentinel, his eyes dark. He really didn't like being led on wild goose chases..and lets face it, his basket making might as well have been a goose chase. But he said nothing, and Oakley soon lost interest, and resumed his glances at the other Sentinel.

“Staring sentinel. There.” The voice of the tiny mus whispered near Liana’s eartuft and the aberrant turned suddenly mid-flight and landed a few branches from the male, curiously eyeing the stranger that stood so close to her territory. Cautious as usual but pleasant none the less, the keeper greeted the deep woods male with a courteous nod. “Good evening. I don’t think I’ve seen you around. I’m Liana, I live on those trees there.” She signalled with a wing.
