how do you get ideas to start a story?

It's hard to explain, most of my ideas just come to me. It usually happens when I'm not thinking about writing. Alot of ideas that come to me don't even get used, but anything that I think is viable gets put on to a file I call my Idea Vault for reference later. Some stuff stays there, some stuff becomes it own work and some stuff gets implemented into exisiting stories.

Three big sources for me:
-Dreams -Music -And Situations IRL
I get a lot of wacky ideas from dreams. When I listen to music I sometimes begin imagining a story in my mind. And situations IRL-- like I pull some of my character ideas, situations, and what not from things around me. I imagine different scenarios and go from there.
