Kamau played by +Sephiros Immortal+
Ekundayo lay on her back, staring up at the clouds in the blue sky. She was out of sight of her family, but close enough that if Phye'li called for her, she would hear. "That one looks kinda like a hare..." She'd found that finding animals in the clouds was fun, even if she wasn't running around. And they would change every so often, becoming a flower or some strange...thing...she'd never seen before. "Oo! And that one looks like Mama!"
Kamau had been making his way along, all minding his own business and secretly hoping to find some little animal for a snack before he became too terribly hungry. As alert to his surroundings as he was, his ears picked up the sounds of someone prattling on to themselves, having a conversation, it would seem, with no one at all. Wrinkling his nose in confusion, he padded closer, curiosity getting the best of him as the little lioness came into view. Ah, it was another cub...but what was she doing? "Hey...whatcha doing?" He inquired, as he'd found the easiest way to get something explained to you was to ask, something he wasn't remotely afraid of doing.
Ekundayo startled, looking over at the new voice. She'd been so engrossed in her cloud-watching she hadn't noticed anyone else come close until they'd spoken up. She rolled over onto her belly and smiled at the newcomer. "Cloud watchin'! They make pictures, dija know?" The cub looked the other over from where she was. Looked kinda like Amadi...but different colored..."Wanna watch with me?"
Kamau wrinkled his nose, tilting his head over to the side in an almost comical fashion. "Pictures?" There was a clear note of skepticism in the cubling's voice, and he padded forward, eyeing the sky above them. "I don't see any pictures..." Quite obviously he wasn't trying hard enough. "Just more of that fluffy white stuff." The cub was quite serious, after all....who would be tall enough to draw pictures in the sky anyway?
Ekundayo giggled. "You gotta look closer!" She moved so she was sitting, and scanned the sky. Spotting a good example, she pointed at a rather large cloud with a brown front paw. "That one! It looks kinda like a bird! The kind ya see riding on big animals!" The cub looked to the other, wondering if he saw it too. "I mean...maybe it looks diff'rent from where you are~"
The leopon seemed to ponder on this for a few seconds, before he flopped down next to her, making a friend of her easily enough. "So you mean cloud-shapes...not pictures, exactly..." That made better sense in his head...so the fluffy white stuff just happened to make shapes of things, and no one had drawn pictures in the sky. A silly notion, that.
She blinked and nodded. "I guess...I always thought of 'em as some'un drawin' in the sky." After deciding the other cub was just fine, she flopped onto her back again. "But shapes is okay. But it makes ya wonder how they get into diff'rent shapes though..." The little lioness looked over to her new friend. "I'm Ekundayo! What's your name?"
Kamau shrugged one tiny shoulder, "Mebbe the gods get bored up there..." One of the other cubs had told him about gods...lions with great wings. "I know if I could fly...I'd play up there and make shapes..." A little smile flitted across his face as he turned back to her. "I'm Kamau...do you live around here?" The leopon was a wanderer, he didn't exactly have a home, and he wasn't sure where his family was either...but he was a big boy right? Could fend for himself...
"Maybe...I would kinda like to fly. Then I could see lotsa things!" She wriggled a bit as an ant decided it didn't like her being in its way. "I don't really live 'round here...We kinda wander when we have to. But it's lotsa fun! I get to see all these neat places, and I've met lotsa other animals! Even another boy who looked kinda like you, 'cept he was all bee-colors!" She grinned. "We played hide 'n' seek! So...do you live 'round here?"
There was a nose-wiggle at that, the tip of his tail twitching as he mulled over her words. Quite clearly a deep thinker for his age. "Mmm...my mommy was bee-colored...I think..." He stated, "From what I remember...and I sorta wander too...Does your family roam around too?" He knew that he was an odd creature, to not have his family about.
Ekundayo blinked. "Really? Cool~" Ekundayo herself wasn't much of a deep thinker...more of a quick one. "Maybe...you're...wha'sa word...ah! Cousins!" She thought his next question a little odd. "Well...yeah. We all move together. Though sometimes Dakarai and I sneak off. But we always go back to Mama."
"Cousins? I guess so. Could be family, I can just barely remember my mum." It made perfect sense to him, unlike the sky-pictures. "So you have a sibling? What's your mama like?" Now he was fully of questions, for the other lions he'd met had either been loners like himself, or didn't care much for the company of a young leopon.
Ekundayo felt a little sad. Barely remember his mom? But it reminded her of a faint little memory in the back of her own mind... "Well...I've got three. Two sisters and a brother. They're nice, but Dakarai tries to act bigger than he is. But he means well..." She smiled as she thought of the lioness who acted as her mother. "And Mama Phye'li...she's really nice! She makes sure we're fed and safe, and teaches us how to do stuff as we get big enough. 'Cept bug-hunting. I learned that one on my own!"
Kamau smiled ever so faintly at that, tilting his head to watch the other cub. "Three? That's really awesome. I bet Dakarai feels slightly outnumbered with all of you girls there, tho." His tail curled absently about his hindquarters. "What sort of bugs do you hunt then? I wouldn't think they'd taste very good." After all, Kamau's usual fare was mice, and they were all right, though rabbit was slightly more preferred...but a lot harder to catch.
"Maybe he does...But one day, he'll be bigger than the rest of us! With a big fuzzy mane!" She giggled. "Ooo...lots of bugs. But the squishy wiggly ones are the best. They're not as good as meat, but they're good if there isn't much else around, or you aren't good at hunting yet." She smiled. "Helps when the stomach gets too rumbly."
Kamau grinned sheepishly, "Perhaps I'll get a mane someday, you think?" He ruffled his head-fur a bit with one oversized paw. It would look good on him, he rather thought. "Ah, I see...I like to chase mice instead...they're bigger, and not as gooey-crunchy as bugs are...taste better too. I don't like the bug-bits that get stuck in your teeth." He lamented.
Ekundayo nodded brightly. "Yeah! And it'll make ya look like someone to think twice 'bout messin' with!" She laughed. "Kamau the Great!" She forgot cloud-watching completely for a bit. "Hmmm...mice. I'll try catching some next time! I bet it'd make Mama proud!" She grinned. "And then bugs would be a last resort to curing tummy-rumbles!"
Kamau laughed softly, "I think I'd like that...I wonder if it'll be black or the bluey color..." Now that they were on subjects he understood better, Kamau made a better conversant. "Yes! Mice are very tasty-like...if you get enough of them then you can hunt all by yourself...I have to most-times, because most adults don't share food with cubs that aren't theirs."
Ekundayo rolled onto her belly again, looking a little thoughtful. "Hmm...I think black would be better! Would make ya look mysterious." She nodded to herself. "Yeah...definitely!" She took the opportunity to stretch while she was on her belly. "I think Mama caught us mice before...the little fuzzy things with the really long tails? If so, they WERE tasty." With his last statement, what she had suspected was confirmed. "So...you don't travel with your mama?"
Kamau yawned faintly, "Mmmhmm...is mysterious good, though? I want to protect people some day...keep bad things from happening...do I need to be mysterious for that?" Quite serious thoughts for a cub his age. "Yeah, they're the little fuzzy things with the naked tails." At her question, he went silent for a time, before finally bobbing his head. "I don't travel with my momma...m'by myself...I don't mind too terribly much tho. M'used to it."
"Well...I kinda think it'd be cool to be rescued by someone mysterious. 'Cause then, ya wanna know more 'bout 'em." Kamau's yawn was contagious, migrating to Ekundayo's maw. "Mmm...they were yummy then." She smiled over at Kamau. "Well...You've got a friend now! So ya won't be lonely. Even when you're by yourself." The yawn decided to pop up again. "Mmmm...maybe it's nap time..."
