Darkness was looming in every which direction. The sun was nowhere to be found. The moon was slowly rising high in the night sky, shining as brightly and beautifully as the sun did during the day. Hell, it was even more magnificent than the sun, bringing out the creatures that walked around in the night, hissing at any signs of that wretched burning ball. The fear that had been ingrained in these creatures was sound, and nothing could change their minds.

Vaatia was one of those creatures.

His pure black paws carefully stepped upon the lush floor of the outskirts of a dark jungle, his almost pure red eyes shining by the light of the moon above. His white fur gleamed and shone softly, but the black markings across his face dictated that he wasn't a delicate creature. Oh no. This lion was unlike most, and didn't like to be messed with. Instead of hunting during the day, he hunted at night. Instead of joining others in their gleeful expeditions, he traveled alone. Instead of seeking out the flesh of smaller prey, he seeked out the the blood of his own kind, and nothing would stop him from doing just that.

His eyes narrowed as he stared at the jungle before him, his blackened nose sniffing the air. Blood was lying in wait in there, and he was going to find it, no matter what it took.

An innocent sort of voice drifted through the jungle night, strengthening as the night deepened. Soon, a pale red and white figure slipped from the tangled growth and wandered slowly along an old, worn game trail. A lioness, it looked like, and the source of the eery, ghostly singing. She seemed unaware of where she was going, or her surroundings, her ruby eyes unfocused and her steps wavering so her trail wandered side to side on the path.

Bone ornaments bounced against her chest and from her ears and ankles, black feathers the only bits of darkness about her. She had a strange air about her, something not quite right about this lioness, but only the truly wary might be warned away.

Shaitani fell to humming after a bit, gently nodding her head as she walked.

Dark ears perked up some, the once narrowed eyes opening a bit. A gentle breeze passes through the silent air, rustling up the lion's bright white fur. Listening to the soft voice that traveled with the wind, blackened paws took a few more steps forward, crushing the dark grass beneath them. A tail lashed behind the lion, making sure to keep aware of anything that might try to stupidly sneak up behind him.

With the glowing light of the moon and the rustling softness of the wind, this night was to be concluded as an eerie one, especially with the light voice that trailed about in the surrounding air. While most lions would probably immediately turn back out of cowardliness, Vaatia stood his ground, prepared for anything. Plus, his lust for that of lion blood kept his around this area. It smelled so strongly of it, and no other place smelled quite like it.

The lioness that came into the stranger's view was completely oblivious to him. Really, she was oblivious to anything that wasn't right in front of her, screaming for her attention.

Her steps wandered back and forth, weaving all over the trail she followed in an erratic manner. Suddenly, a frog jumped away from the path at the approach of the lioness and her attention was immediently on it. Ears perking forward and eyes widening, she froze and began to creep slowly closer, step by step to sneak up on the nervous frog.

"What's this, what's this?" She hissed to herself. "A little croaker, a night singer, a nasty tasting morsel!" Her voice held a note of her unbalance and her face contorted as she spoke. "Dirty, icky thing... not worth the mouthful you make. Gummy, scummy, sticky... disgusting!"

With every word, she seemed to get more and more angry at the innocent frog, till she was tearing the ground with her exposed class, hissing like a snake.
