So I am sitting around reading when the subject of book burning comes along and I was wondering if any of you support mass book burning of something you dont like?

Is there ever really a good reason for book-burning? It's usually used to repress free speech, isn't it? In my opinion, it's just wrong to burn a book because you don't like what it says. I wouldn't want someone doing that to a book I liked (or wrote for that matter). On top of that, it's just a ridiculous statement. To paraphrase Sumiregawa Nenene (via English-dubbed anime), "You think this bomb will stop me? My stories will live on forever. Why don't you kill me with your words!"

There are only two good reasons to burn books. 1. To keep warm in the middle of a deadly blizzard. 2. If the book is cursed so anybody who reads it dies.

Book burning is silly. Sure I think that there are some bad books that should have never wasted the paper to be printed on, but instead of burning them couldn't they just be recycled?

No, burning books is evil. The reason I didn't support the helsin sisters on gaia is because on the library page, it said they burned books. In the movie the day after towmaro, I started to yell at the T.V. screen because they were burning books.

*pities* book burning is BAD! twisted im evil. twisted but i would never burn a book, they'er what keeps me alive. they'r what keeps my depression away. they're what i like. I WILL BURN THE PERSON WHO BURNS A BOOK! no, burning is bad. i will POISON THEM! oh yes. make them unable to move, and force them to read every book that they burned. but they wont be able to, because they are burned. so, then i finish them off with a short stab to a finger. poison them with a non-lethal poison. and leave them for disease to finish them off... Oh yes. im evil twisted anyways. no book burning. you know your fate. (is a professional at finding people)

I can''t stand the thought of.. of... desecrating a book like that! I think of my house burning down and my book burning in it and that thought just wrenches at my heartstrings. When I read a book, I become attatched to it. Another of the same book just isn''t the same.
Burning books is wrong. Although I wouldn''t balk at burning the book that was assigned to me for summer reading if it weren''t just a complete waste of perfectly good paper that trees unwittingly gave their lives for.

Book burning is just ridiculous.
Some religious groups buy massive amounts of books just to burn and then sue when someone burns their religious text in protest.
What ever happened to "save the trees?"

Now that you mention it, though, I have wanted to burn one book. I was very dissapointed by one, and I just had the urge to burn it. But it was from the library.

Lady Mamoru There are only two good reasons to burn books. 1. To keep warm in the middle of a deadly blizzard. 2. If the book is cursed so anybody who reads it dies. I think that is exactily right.
