Slavic was trying to get used to the fact that he had a female Waterbuck around. In fact-it was down right unusual to him. Not only did he have to protect her during the night-he had to make sure she was comfortable... and that she stayed by him... prove to her that he was strong... A real Male. He was so anxious and happy about the current events that he slept little... and when he did wake, he wandered just a small distance away... and gathered some flowers

As his custom was-flowers awoke in the morning with the sun. That was when they tasted their most flavorful. Perhaps she want a bit of a graze in the morning light. So he gathered the most flavorful flowers and buds he could find-and settled himself in front of her-legs tucked under him... mouth full of flowers-waiting for her to wake.

( Dork XD )

Kupala shook lightly during her rest, her tail flicking, her ears doing the same. Deep in her mind the cries of horrors and the strong, deep voice of the prince commanding his herd to flee to the wooded area. All around her she could see the eyes of the predators and their sharp fangs. She turns from the prince and once she looked back, he was gone. Before anything could happen, the images switched off into darkness and only the smell of morning dew was left. Carefully, the female opened her eyes, lifting her light head with blurry blue eyes. Staring at the male's image come into view, she noticed the colorful array of herbs he held.

He waited for her to wake up.

He got something for her.

Kupala frowned.

"I told you, don't do anything funny, Slavic. I cannot fall in love with any rogue buck out here, I don't even know what love is yet and here you are trying to make advances? What nerves!"

She scoffed as she reached to grab a few of his flowers. It was still a gesture and she was accepting it, grudgingly, but accepted. For an instant, their nose touched but that was the closest contact she would make to him for the time. Slowly she started to graze with a slight upset air around her. He best have a good reply to that one.

(Slavic: *face to wall*face to wall*face to wall*)

Slavic had watched her during her twitches and such... he felt sorry that she had been seperated... it was a shame-he had never had the chance to know a herd life. He kept scenting the air as the sun rose-careful to keep all scents in check. Especially if it was a Wild Dog. He personally wanted her to trust him a bit more before they met-he was afraid Machu would make him into an even bigger fool than he was already.

When she woke-he lifted his nose slightly so she could see what he brought her-only to be shot down. He blinked his eyes... not moving a hair when she rebuked him. He wasn't sure how this prince had acted towards her-but he had guessed it wasn't like this. "I-I... Didn't mean to offend you Kupala... Please... forgive me..."

He stood up and shook the dew from his coat. Well... his father had mentioned quiet a bit about courting females-but his father never took into perspective if the female was interested in someone else. He lifted his horned head, scenting the air for moment-ears twitching and tail flickering. He figured he should tell her of the nothing he smelt all night. "I detected nothing all night..."

He felt like so much like the inexperianced male he really was.

"Forgiven, I told you many times before, Slavic to not try anything funny. I can't... love... you..."

She murmured softly before finishing her breakfast. She must admit that he knew what to get to eat, it was quite delicious and she wanted more, however, asking for it would be her own burden. Kupala yawned softly before raising herself into a more comfortable and alert laying position. In their species, one can never be too careful.

Slavic was trying so hard to find a mate. She was the only female that he had met in a long while, it was kinda expected that he would continue trying regardless. He had a bit of a charm about him, very determined, persistent, loyal, obedient, and rather cute for his age. It seemed he was older than her, by how much was to be seen. First allowing her to be with him while she searched for her herd and now getting her breakfast. Strange male indeed.

"You did not sleep? You should sleep, we need our energy if we have to escape."

And yet she still showed concerned for him.

Slavic simply nodded to her-not sure what so say to her. Each time-she mentioned this prince-he could almost feel himself gain a bit more anger. Here she was-no doubt in love with this prince-and where was he? Some prince-not able to protect his matrons. He shook his head to himself-lowering himself and taking in a bit of graze for himself.

He had to wonder if this was all a useless task. She was not interested in him-he was obviously not as strong or lean or whatever-as this prince. He sighed to himself, feeling like he was destined to have a slavia... He lifted his head when she spoke, gazing at her. So lovely... and not his.

"I couldn't get my eyes to stay shut. Things woke me up-sounds... but I was eager for them to be your people..." He said simply, something in his voice like... like a bird caged and singing-but without heart. He felt as though... no matter how hard he tried... she'd rebuke him and reject him. The prince.. damn the prince.

"either way... I've slept for longer than I should... especially when I am tending to Machu... he sleeps alot." He said, his head lowering. Great-when her herd returned-he'd be alone with Machu again...

"My people... my herd. Tell you the truth, I could care less about the herd. They all redicule me for being so young and seeking such a high prize. Perhaps I am foolish, but it is a goal to achieve. Maybe not this season, perhaps not the next, but someday...."

She murmured softly as she looked up into the sky. With Slavic, at least she had someone else to talk to. She has had her fair share of troubles in the herd, beat on, picked on, made fun of, all because she was a young doe chasing after the alpha male of the group. However, it was because of that that the females were punished into submission and she was granted a spot by his side. Mostly for protection, but it was close to him at the very least.

"He was a dashing, young male, like yourself. He was very big, strong and had a way with things. Somehow... he just made things work. The doe were all after him and the males grew up inspired to beat him, but none ever succeeded. His voice could even command lions to obey and his attacks could leave one crippled. I just hope he is alright . . ."

She sighed and got to her feet, moving around softly to keep herself active on the minimum level. It was kinda hard to talk about the prince that she liked and admired in front of a male that was vying for her attention. Awkwardly, she kinda felt bad about it and dropped the rest of the details off.

"Machu... I do hope I don't have to meet him for a while. I am not very fond of Wild Dogs. However, this one certainly sounds far to lazy to even chase after me if I ran away."

Kupala jerked and looked at him with a smile.

"So tell me about your family, did they ever teach you anything? Something you remember?"

Slavic listened to her speak of her herd-and felt his ears span to hear her better from where he stood. He sometimes wondered the life of a herd... rather than cowering under a wild dog ones whole life. He snorted-no wonder she was so keen on that Prince-strength and integrity he had-and what did Slavic have. A wild dog master. One that he obeyed-but... at least it was something. He shut his eyes and nodded to himself-better than alone... much better. He lifted his eyelids-wishing that at least one day-she'd find the prince and birth calves with him... just like she wished.

He might as well wish someone else some fortune-since he figured he might as well stop trying. But that didn't mean he was going to be less nice to her. "Like Me huh... Which part... the male part-since I am far from dashing and I am older than you-perhaps a few months or so..." He said with a shrug. He didn't like being compared to something so amazing as the prince. "I was never much for the herd type... so I don't really know what a 'Prince' would be in my eyes. "

He lifted his head and gazed at her. "Well.. my father taught me the ways of a male-my mother made sure I understood females... I learned how to fight and spar-I never used those gifts from my father-never have needed to. I have no one to protect... except you-and thats only till you find your people again.

My father taught me how to shine my horns when they first began their growth-to keep them strong and shined. He taught me to plant my hooves when I braced for impact-how to shift the weight to my shoulders... how to hoof slash. But my mother-she taught me the plants and the worlds ways. She taught me-how to be kind and gentle... "

(( Did I mention I was gonna try and get the Prince? ))

She smiled and came to him, pushing his head up lightly with her own.

"Don't be so gloomy, it makes things so much more difficult than things need to be. You know, you are kinda like him just not as dashing and amazing as he is, but that is because I haven't gotten to know you. Perhaps when you decide to stop moping around and actually show me what kinda male you are, not the slave you think you are, but the leader that you could be. If you are able to defend me, I would imagine you could defend a herd if given the chance. Then you have rights to the females."

Kupala gave a cute little chuckle before removing her head and moving away to lay herself down again. Her ear twitched now and again, listening to the words this male spoke. He was taught how to fight. He was taught how to defend. He was taught about food, what was good and what was bad. He was taught to be kind, gentle, and caring. Very much like the prince. He held some aspects of the prince, but she must admit that he may never appear like the prince to her eyes, but he was fifth male that made her feel safe to be around. The Prince, her father, her brothers, and the Prince's younger brother. He was the charmer, but he lacked what his brother had; control.

"My father did not teach me too much like yours, perhaps because he believed he was gonna be the one protecting me for my entire life. Even then, I was protected by the Prince. But he did teach me one thing . . . If I ever wanted to find a mate, I must make sure that I at least share the remotest feelings for him. However, I can't believe he had actually told me this thinking that it would happen, but he did say that if I ever had calves with a male, I was obligated to tend to them if he stayed or not. My mother said if that happened, and the male did not stay, I would lose my honor... Slavic, do you know what any of that means? I certainly don't."

Slavic stopped for a moment. He wished she would not touch him-it made him so jealous of that Prince-here she was-all devote to him and... did the prince even know it? Did he even care? He smiled, lifting his head to watch her for a moment. She was a true female in his mind-for the image of one had been placed as a seed long ago-and now blossomed. "Heh, you really think I could be a leader deep inside. I suppose my father would have been very optimistic to know that... perhaps there is a bit of a 'prince' inside of me. " He spoke, blinking his brown eyes into the distance-imagining his parents images there-watchig him-admiring him.

"Well.. My parents taught me that... when a calf is born-there should be a mother and a father there to raise them up right-but with the morals of both. A young male calf would not be able to grow up well-if he had only a mother to look to as a visual of his future... I don't know about loosing ones honor though-a mother can not loose honor because a male decided to be too stubborn or he feels that the burden of calf raising was too great for him." He snorted. "A mother has honor because she is a mother. Mother is a goddess in the eyes of her calf..."

(( lol, late. Seriously, after two days, PM me the link again and hit me XD ))

"I am convinced that anyone can become a great leader if they truly dedicated themselves to becoming so," She smiled as she moved from him, pacing back in forth as if in though. Her wonderful blue eyes hidden behind closed lens, her head held high. Preparing for a short speech. "A leader, or in our case, a Prince, should be bold. He must be there to protect his harem, bucks, fawns, those who follow him. He must be wise and be sought for guidance." Kupala smiled at him. "You did offer me a place to stay for the night and you are kind, so yes, I do really think you can be a leader if you tried."

The female mauled over the words in her mind. She had grown up knowing that if she were to have a calf and the father was only in the relationship for the mating and nothing else, she would be honorless. Here, he says there is some honor for being a mother. Perhaps what her father tried to say was mating with someone who wasn't her mate. Oh, it was so confusing! If only she knew where her father was now...

"Wise words, Slavic, and you think you are just but a slave. Keep that mentality and you must just be a slave. Come on, buck up and do something!"

((K. xD ))

Slavic watched her for a moment. She was so much diffrent from what he was used to seeing in a female-and he had only ever been around his mother. Kupala was diffrent but simliar-he wasn't sure of how and what exactually... but the aura and personality-they were diffrent. Kupala... He gazed at her closer... she glowed in her traits and thoughts. She glowed anyway. He looked away, a grin on his face. He rather liked her actually... though he didn't know if things would sort out... but at least-he was learning things. He wasn't as he used to be-he was straying from the submissive-slave male he used to be... He tossed his head back-he hadn't even returned to find Slavic to see how things were.

"I have changed though... Since I met you I have already changed a bit... I have not run back to Machu yet... I've been to occupied... helping you... So In reality... I have you to thank for my changes so far." He said, lifting his noble head. "I plan on changing a bit more as I go... I thought about it last night and... I think... I would like to start making those changes..."

He took a step foreward and lowered his head, tossing it back up dramtically.. like he had emotions that wanted to fall from his muzzle-but he could not place them yet. Stomping his foot-he raised his head high. "And I'll stay by your side until you find your herd again-I promise."

Kupala chuckled at his display, he was kinda silly too. Announcing all these changes and that she was the cause of all of them. Well, of course! She was the one who had to kick his rear into gear and actually have him notice these himself. Though, it was nice to know that he was going to stay by her until she found her herd again. It would be nice to have some company along the way. Maybe he'll break away from his wild dog master.

"Alright, now that that's taken care of, what do you say we head down to the water hole and start the day out to something more fun? This seriousness is kinda getting boring if you ask me."

The little doe squeaked a little before turning, walking off in a random direction. Lets see how well this one leads. Though, it was a good way to hide her slight blush from his comment.

Charmer.

Slavic gazed at her when she chuckled. He was starting to get more and more grateful for her. What an amazing doe-and he barely knew her... were all females like that? He lowered his head and nosed the ground, reaching behind his ear with his hoof to scratch the base of his horn. "Sounds like a plan. I could use a good drink-and maybe a wallow in the mud..." He said with a smile, lifting his head to follow her.

He stepped lightlt behind her-his ears swiveling for a moment-waiting for the perfect moment to make a suggestion. "hehe.... Do you know where the watering hole is?" He asked, lifting his noble head up to see her face. "Shall I lead us towards the watering hole I know of?" He stepped up and butted her hind end with his nose. "Tis back that way.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 24, 2008 6:31 pm

She looked at him with a playfully disgusted face. Wallow in mud?

"Eeeeew...."

She cooed, shivering at the mere thought of it. She had never seen anything wallow in mud. Disgusting dirt with bugs and water that animals drink and pee in. Oh gods, that's disgusting! And what was more awkward was what he just did just seconds ago. What was he doing? If his antlers were needed to worn, a tree would have done just fine... She could only imagine the fawns he would produce. Smaller version of himself doing the same action. So awkward.

"Finally, someone is taking charge. Certainly, Slavic, do show this female the way to the water hole so she can get herself cleaned up."

Slavic began to lead the way towards the watering hole. Eww. Did she prefer bugs and flies to be buggering up her hide-or have soothing mud prevent that? He smiled, to each their own. He turned his head to make sure she was following. "Clean yourself up... You aren't dirty at all..." He said simply, blinking his brown eyes at her with a chuckle. He must not be used to a females veiw on things-clenliness... but he guessed he'd learn.

He liked how she talked before though... he was leading her-indeed. He had never led anyone before, and that was a weird realization... He shook his head, his ears panning to collect sound from anything that could be threatening. He walked along a path that he knew well... one not really visible but he could smell it. After going down a small hill, to where the water pooled into a gentle/shallow area-he stepped into the water, gave it a sniff and a good look over-didn't want any Crocidiles present-and he stood there, to draw any out that may be there... then when he was certain it was safe-he turned to her and smiled. "It's safe..."
