Koi was taken back by how beautifully her children were growing. Since she had given birth-she had not kept up her daily regiment of excersize-to keep her warrior within alive. Afterall-once the cubs were old enough to be on their own-she would have to attend to her duties once again. She stood and stretched her lithe form-yellow toes gathering little piles of dirt under them as her claws flexed.
She gazed about lovingly at her sleeping mate-Liza-father to her children. She exited the den slowly, being sure to not wake him. The best male in the world he was-no doubt about it. With a smile, she padded a distance away and sat down, grooming. Her delicately parted tail curled around her feet-swaying lightly in the breeze.

Hearing the sound of a graceful footfall, Muskie was snapped from his thoughts as his touchy right ear twitched to the sound. Glancing down from the rock where he spent some time drowning in his thoughts, he saw his mother below him, bathing herself with a lick and paw. She looked the most similar to himself with her sunkissed orange coat, but there was a huge difference between the two that Muskie could not get over- she was still a female.
He never really abridged himself to speak to her. As always, he kept an eye on his family members from a distance. The only other lion he really talked to was his sister, Maowe... or whatever it was... he couldn't remember exactly. Though unlike his talkative sibling, Muskie's mom, Koi, was a much older lion, meaning that she was fully adapted to the ways of their pride. He couldn't imagine the idea of being afraid of his own mother for that, but at the same time, he didn't quite know what to think. She treated her mate and cubs with nothing but kindness... so was this whole thing about female domination a lie or was she just deceiving them?
He was so confused...

Koi made sure every morning that her coat was as clean and bright as can be. She was proud of her colors and rank, and made an effort to keep it all in working order. With the combination of Liza's and her genes... their children carried much of that... except Mawu of course... She gazed about slowly, a smile across her face... and spotted her bright sun-Muskie.
He was a treat indeed-he had his quirks and his special attributes and Koi could not help but think-he would someday leave this pride... She guessed his thoughts and idea's were not those of his fathers... not exact anyway... but secretly she hoped he'd stay... and carry on the family's bloodline when she and Liza were gone. "Muskie..." She said softly.
She started to make her way towards her son-happy with the thought of having some alone with with him. "Good Day my Child..."

Not surprised that his mother could see him, Muskie raised his head as his mother spoke. Her soft purr made his ear twitch again, but he ignored it and sat up straight while his mother approached. Realizing that they were completely alone, Muskie raised his head high, his red eyes alert. He respected her solely because she was his mother, not just because she was an older female.
He never really spoken to her before. At least not within his memory. She seemed like a gentle type. Her soft voice and posture made him assume this. She didn't seem loud like the sibling he just met not too long ago. "Hello, mother." he greeted. He did not smile but his eyes did not convey their usual aloof stare.

Koi had noticed from an early age that Muskie was a bit diffrent from the rest. She loved all her children equally-but she sensed something diffrent about him-and she loved it. Perhaps in his past life-he had traveled and done great things-and she felt he was destined to follow that path someday. She smiled down to him, bending her head to give him an affectionate lick on the head. Her lovely sunny son with the strange look about him.
"How have you been Muskie... I haven't seen you around in the past few days...." She asked simply, sitting down next to him. She hadn't had time to really show her cubs affection in the past couple of days-which she regretted-but she had been working on getting her warrioress form back into shape after having her family. "I heard Mawu talking about her seeing you not long ago-did you have a nice conversation?"

Muskie shook his head a bit, attempting to shake of the feeling of damp saliva on his fur. He didn't like being licked, but he wasn't about to yell at his mother for being nice to him. "Nice conversation?" he asked dryly, his red eyes glancing away. He wasn't about to mention the fact that he didn't really enjoy the fact that his sister teased him with something he hated. However, the thought of talking about it made him feel like he was complaining. There was probably a good chance that he deserved what was coming to him. He was mean to her first. "I suppose..."

She cocked her head. "You suppose?" She asked, laying down beside him, her paws crossed. She gazed off into the distance, knowing that Liza was there somewhere but... she felt there should be something more in her life. But that was something to worry about later. She sighed, looking back down to Muskie with a softer look.
"I know Mawu can be difficult sometimes-but I think she will grow to be less-hostile as she ages." She said simply, breathing in through her nose as her tail twitched. "She is her grandmother reincarnate. I can feel it... So she may not understand things well right now... but... who knows."
