Anyone else notice how similar the Robots are in "Voyage of the Damned" and "Robots of Death"? They even move and talk in the same way, so I suppose that they based the ones in VOTD on the ones from ROT.

The only way they're similar is that they're both gold-colored robots. The Host are clearly an art-deco design to fit with the early 1900s look while the Robots of Death are psudo-futuristic style popular in the late 70s and early 80s.
You're reading far too much into it.

Yes, I will agree that they look quite similar, but not quite the same, but the plot-lines for the shows and their motivation for turning on the humans were completly different.
It's possible that they were, in fact, based on the ROD robots- but those in turn were based on Issac Asmov's works. Everything is based, however loosely, on something else.

Well in ROT one of them lifted their head as they were accessing a computer or something, and if you listen to the voices they are also quite similar. Like when they calmly say "kill, kill".
Another thing is the hand/door scene.
And the fact that they talk without moving their lips or mouth compartment or whatever.

I believe in the words of Tom Baker "back then it was called plagiarism, but now it is called homage." Which it basically is a homage to Robots of Death, but the stories are different entirely, except that the robots are trying to kill the crew.

Is in they're not bleeping lights, square heads or C3POs, well maybe C3POs, but in Doctor Who robot designs are completely different in general which is why I think there is a link.

Ah, so you wanted to use the most misleading picture, then. Seriously, if you're going to make an argument like this, you have to use something that's most representative of the thing rather than something that most resembles something else. Otherwise, your argument is self-defeating, especially if you point out that it isn't the most common representation. Why? Well, now they're similar in that they're both robots. Anyone with even an ounce of art knowledge can tell they're different. And humanoid robots are hardly even unique to Doctor Who, let alone the old series. And then you talk about plot elements (and minor ones at that) in one post as reasons why they're similar and then in your next post say that the story elements aren't the important part. You have to pick one and stick with it. And I, for one, am sick and tired of people complaining about how the new series is just ripping off the old series and trying to back the statement up with crappy arguments. Berz.

When did I say that the new series rips off the old? It's part of the same program so how can they rip??!! Ooh, another thing which is quite unique to both of them- metal hair.
