
Look at the bottom, of my sketch on the convertible bodice - just adding in a basic triangle of the same fabric could change the top to a nice maternity top.
If you couldn't tell, I'ma be a pirate. But this would also work for rennaisance faire things, and really any costume that needs to fasten down the front. You can di it with buttons, lacing, zippers, really anything.
Say you have a costume that zips up the front (oh, say, a velvet catsuit. You wanna be Catwoman). Just buy some of the same/similar fabric. For something that zips, you'd want more of an oval shaped insert instead of a triangle, and then just buy a zipper the same length/size as the one on the garment. Separate the halves of the zipper, and sew them to the insert. Then just zip the insert to the garment's zipper!
So yeah, I thought that since quite a few of us are pregnant, and Halloween is coming, I figured this might help broaden the costume options.
