Diego had long since been free of Reicher Tyranny, but something strange was pulling him back. His eye gave a violent twitch. "No bad Diego- we don't go back to that devil wolf do we? We don't want to go back..." He cackled insanely and stoped walking due to the fact his back paw was going into spazzums thinking about Reicher. "We are free of the evil- yes we are...FREE-" He looked around and yelled it even louder so that all could hear. "FREE!!!!" His voice turned into a shrill cackle and he fell backwards laughing so hard his auds were tearing. "I have no reason to go back- we never have to go back there again." He rolled again pounding the ground with a paw and cackling more. "It's just too good to be true-" His body grew still something was not right. "It's just to good to be true...."

River had been walking for a while, she had left the pack for a walk after Reicher had given his announcement. She had made the decision to stay though mainly to watch Ran, she had to stay safe and though River liked Sashta she knew that neither of the parents were too keen on the little girl.
As she had head the yell "Free" she was rather curious to why it was said and who said it. There was also the chance that someone might want to play with her as being stuck in the pack she had been restricted in what she could do and it wasnt great.

He repeated the phrase several times before catching Rivers sent. His ear wiggled wildly back and forth, she smelled of the foul Reicher. Knowing he was safely out of the devil wolfs territory he raced up and shoved his nose into Rivers face. "I knew it! I knew it! Reicher sent you to finish the job!" His front paws wobled making his body crash to the ground in hysterical crying. "Just finish me off- be quick about it..." He twitched again and began muttering about Reicher going back on his word. Looking more carfully he saw it was River. That made him sob even louder. He was going to be killed by the wolf he had brought in to barter for his life in the first place. "Oh poo I knew it was too good- tell Reicher as my final words I give him my regards..." He flailed again even more not being in the same position for more then a second on the forest floor.

River walked over and licked the top of the wolfs head, "Diego? isn't it?" She tilted her head to the side and sat down, her tail wraping around her. "I aint going to do any of Reichers dirty work. I am there to make sure the pups aint killed. Thats all!" She smiled at him trynig to hold back the laughs. Did Riecher do this to him? She wouldnt have been surprised the alpha wasn't the nicest of wolves. Either way she had to keep her promise, not to mention the plans.

Diego jumped back to his feet with a yowl as she licked him. Not that it hurt he just wasn't expecting it. "Ooooh you killed me I knew you would." Diego then played out an elaborate death seen where her looked like he passed out cold. Laying there for a couple of seconds he really was conviced he was dead; but after the shock had passed- Wait a minute did she just lick me? His eye cracked open seeing her now upside-down thanks to his dramatics. His maw then grew wide with a dumb smile as he straighten himself up and brushed off the dirt. "Well then why didn't you just say so *sheesh* You could give a poor squirrel like me a heart attack sneeking up on them like that..."

River watched him act dead, knowing that a lick couldn't really kill him. Then he said about a Squirrel? He was a squirrel? If he was he was a very wolf like, multi coloured squirrel. She giggled and looked at him, "Well would the squirrel like to play?" She stood up, swiftly moving into a playful position looking down at the brightly coloured wolf/squirrel hybrid. Maybe he was a wolf with the mind of a squirrel? Yeah had to be that one!

"Finally somebody who accepts me for who I am-" He lowered his voice and whispered just so River could hear. "You wouldn't BELIEVE how many nuts have called me a wolf! You'd swear everyones gone insane around here...but not me I'm the most sane there is; I know what I am...and apparently your sane too!" He bounded over and gave her a huge wolf hug then picked up a nut on the ground and tried to break it open with his paws as he chittered loudly.

River laughed as he jumped at her. Hugging? Interesting. "well you know you do resemble a wolf in looks I guess, but your definatly a squirrel!" She smiled and found his ear very close to her muzzle, chew toy! He soon was chewing on his ear, lightly and carefully so it wouldn't hurt him though. She like this wolf mean squirrel. He was unique!

As soon as Diego felt her teeth he began to cry out again and chittered loudly. "You tricked us! You are going to eat us alieve..." He began to flail about again making the sitation worse for himself. "I knew you worked for Reicher! He trained you to do this!" Diego looking down at his pile of acorns sighed, he wanted to save them for winter so he could hybernate with a full stash of food, but desprite times called for desprite measures. He attempted to pick up an acorn with one paw like squirrels did to throw them; but it kept slipping between his toes and rolling off his paw. The more he tried to pick up the worse it got until finally he had scattered so many around him that it was like walking on marbles. The Rainbow wolf made another attempt to get away but only ended up landing flat on his face with acorned burred up all over his fur.

She shook her head and walked over licking at his ear to make it better, "Diego my dear little squirrel, do you think anyone would be trained to be nice under Reicher?" She laughed a little an dnudged him, helping him to stand up. "Want help collecting all the acrons up? cant get through winter without them you know!" She smiled at him, a genuine smile. She liked the squirrel wolf though she knew her alpha did not though the reason would stay unknown to her. "Diego, I promise if anything I will help protect you from Reicher not kill you. He is a nasty piece of work and shouldn't have the right to tell others to kill!" She snarled a little as she spoke and then fell silent watching Diego.

Did she just lick me again? His sane side flustered slightly, and as he went to stand up he slid over the acorns again- this time smacking into Rivers legs as he went down again. "Well at least I'm just a little squirral-" He said finally finding his footing and climing up over the mess he had made. "You'd really help me clean up my acorns!" He beamed. "You must be a seer!" Noteing her earlier comment about him needing his nuts for winter. He turned to face her and began to bow. "Oh mighty seer what are your wishes?"

River laughed at his mention of a seer, "Diego I aint a seer I just know some things about Squirrels!" She smiled and looked around collecting some of the nuts by pushing them into a pile with her maw. It was safer if they weren't all over the place.
She then turned to him and smiled, "So Diego, now your acorns are in a nice neat pile what do you wish to do?"

He looked at the pile and studied it carefully. "Well I wouldn't say it's a neat pile but nobody nuts are as mishapen as mine-" He paused and pointed to the half scratched out nutpile. He really had no luck when it came to opening them like a real squirrel. "I think I have bad nuts- mine aren't as ripe as some of my other squirrel friends. They always seam to do a good job taking care of there nuts, mine just dent- Maybe I should get out eairler next year to go on a nut harvest. I'm sure they won't be so difficult to handle..." He thought back to his incident with the acorns rolling off his paw. "I really do need practice holding my nuts..."

River tried to hold back a laugh. He just sounded strange but it didn't matter, it made her look normal after all. Alot of wolves looked down on her because of her childish nature. Yet Diego didn't because she was normal and accepted his ways. It was great! She had made friends with an insane creature and a pretty one! "Diego.. Your prettyful!" She giggled childishly and watched him play with the nuts.

Diego beamed and fluffed up his tail to look more squirrel like. "You really think so? Your the first person thats liked my pelt-" He sat next to his nuts haveing a sane moment. It was the first time anyone really liked him; Whisper he thought was afraid of him- he was rather insane and embaressed her an awful lot. But River- she seamed to accept him...no matter if he was a wolf or a squirrel or looked like a giant pair of fuzzy maracas. "Thanks...I think your nice too-" He smiled at her having a silent moment, just enjoying being accepted for once. "Acorn?"
