Welcome::

If you are here that probably makes you a quester for a Symphony. Awesome! But don’t think this is a charity house, we encourage everyone to make a quest because the shop’s plot is a little bit complicated and a lot of people get confused. As always, if you have a question Pm Cordelia [This mule] and we’ll place it in out F.A.Q for all the questers to see. No rules will be posted here because this is a place of creative work. However, you should have read the entire front page in the Main Thread so you know what you are getting into here [maybe that’s a bit of a rule but that is it]. So we hope this is helpful and we do have some guidelines [second post]. We wish you luck! heart

Guidelines::

1. Please respect all shop rules, it makes things a lot cleaner.
2. Be nice, this is more rule-ish than the rest. If I see any put-downs, discouraging or flames hidden behind the title of ‘Crit’ you will be graylisted.
3. That being said, questers should keep an open mind about crit and don’t be so defensive.
4. We ask for now that critics that are not Hikari or Tempest please don’t worry about shop plot and shop continuity. We’ll handle that bit; you can help with uniqueness/creativity of subjects, writing styles, personality and original past lives. We could also put you on appearance!song relationships.
5. All threads are susceptible for critique unless there is [No Critique] written within the title.
6. Watch out for them grammar errors!

Helpful Hints::

Things to include: in your thread:
-Past Life, think deep.
-The Song and why.
-Personality and how does this relate to the past life..
-Appearance and why.

Quick Tips:
- Having a concept here does not give you exclusive rights over any job, talent, appearance, race, age, hair color, or even a song. When/if you receive a symphony, then you'll have some level of exclusiveness, but until then, don't get angry with anyone breaching "your territory."
- To top that off, it would be wise to look at the other concepts before coming up with your own so you aren't stepping on anyone's toes. If both of your characters have a specific song or past life profession then we'll probably look at who's character is more interesting and who's writing style is more on par.
-We don’t actually think that any two people will have a song. Granted what I just said, please be respectful. If someone already has a pretty flushed out character and you’re just starting, it might be wise to choose something a bit more unique. We can’t have five people all with the same personalities; we’re looking for variety. Professions in past lives aren’t limited to wanderers, thieves and hobos. We’ve noticed a lot of doubles with the flatsales and we strongly encourage looking at different appearances (produced by the song of course) and past life professions.
- The more original and unique the character, the better! Take advantage of the different counties and histories characters can come from. The only set point is the continent Feardoc is on, there are other landmasses you can help create… until Hikari whips out a map. But still! Don’t let that stop you! As long as it’s explained we’d love to hear from different worlds or dimensions. Time travelers, aliens and dimension hoppers are loved. We’ll just need to work with you more so that it fits with Feardoc.
- Don't forget about the past life! Include a bit about what they look like, what they like. Create and entire Bio post if need be. We want to know as much about the as possible. After all, the song may create the phenotype of the Symphony, but the soul is the same that was in the past life. They will eventually begin to remember past life events so have this ready and it will help you a lot.
- Allow room for growth and change. Some pretty crazy things can happen in life, so allow room for changes in view or ways. Yes the soul is set, but change still happens. If the personality is too set in stone there will be no growth [in both meanings of the word]. Remember, a child isn’t as gruff as an adult, views can change and having the same slappy-McEmo-face, kid through adult won’t exactly gain you any points. In fact, list a couple options of internal change in the thread so we can get an idea.
- For concepts aimed at being entered in a flatsale, keep in mind that you’re only allowed a certain amount of traits… So be willing to dull down the extravagant details.
- Don't get greedy with abilities and design. Your symphony can control wind? Fantastic! And can turn invisible? Right. And can speak to woodland creature? Uh huh. And they have super awareness so that they can apprehend any enemies and can control this power to burst a hole through the mansion’s time loop and go back to kick Feardoc’s a**!? Stop. Save some abilities for other people and don’t god mode. We don't want to have to tell someone with a really good concept "No, none of that pertains to your song."
-Remember the song is everything! Not so much the lyrics, but the tune. ‘Green Finch and Linnet Bird’ with Lynet for example. I didn’t snag her tiny wings from the lyrics, but if you listen to the flutes in the beginning there is a specific trill that encompasses the sound of a small bird. Yes, I admit Everyone is going to have little odds and ends that come from the lyrics, they just trickle in, but try to keep it to a minimum.
-With the past life…Remember, they are a completely different person. Perfect example would be Tanz. His past life was a female named Dalila, born again from the song into a male. You can have a respectable young woman go to Feardoc and learn the Doctor Who theme and come out looking orange and male. Completely different people, same soul, internal feelings and such what.
-On appearance [I’ve probably said this before] it should be influenced by the song, again the example above would work. As long as there is a reason behind it, it’s acceptable. You might want to list the appearances structured by the song and give a little reason behind it. If we find something is a bit too much of a stretch, we’ll let you know.

More later...

F.A.Q

Q.What are the Symphonies going to look like?
A.Each Symphony will be based on the interpretation of the song the soul was bound with.

Q.Can I have more than one?
A.For now it's only one Symphony per guardian.

Q.What about twins?
A.MAYBE! However if we ever have twins (unlikely) it will probably be an auction like setting.

Q. What're these going to cost?
A. 300k for a custom, and 15k within a flatsale 3nodding

Q. What about journals?
A. Journals are required.

Q. Are we going to have to rp them all the time?
A. ....not all the time. But at least once a month, unless you go on hiatus. Please notify us if there is a Hiatus in the future, it helps the overly worrying Hikari.

Q. What kind of roleplay?
A. Formal, narrative, descriptive, ect. Just no informal or screenplay.

Q. Could a Symphony be a cosplay?
A. Erm...No, but we are okay with influences because where would we be without influences. We prefer original work here though because this is a conceptual based shop. No 'Kairi's Song' from Kingdom Hearts and popping out a Kairi. Remember the guidelines of how souls become symphonies. The feel of the song will effect the phenotype.

Q. I don't have enough gold but I really really want to enter the flatsale!
A. Don't worry! We want creativity and a desire to play out the Symphonies lives more than we want gold. Payment plans can be worked out for flatsales when/if necessary <3 Please note, this only applies for flatsales and possible contests, not raffles or auctions or autobuys.

Q. So these are kids...from some dude's sheet music?
A. Er. These are essentially a take two of an innocent's (or not so innocent's) life. In short, Feardoc killed people because he was angry and went off the deep end. The souls were locked away into the composition he was working on and a Symphony is the product of past life's soul and Feardoc's overall composition. The song gave them the new life

Q. So Cordelia? Why is she doing this?
A. She's giving the Symphonies loving homes in order to repent for her husband. <3

Q. So where's the shop conflict? Metaplots? Anything?
A. That's why we want you here! It's classified, stay tuned and find out.

Q. Will the Symphonies be able to have special powers?
A. Well, by default all of them are able to specialize in a section of music if you chose for them to. But that's because Feardoc wrote the composition. Other powers will pop up on guardian's discretion. All Symphonies will have some sort of power because of the process it takes to release them. Their power is based solely on the mood and feel of the song in which the Symphony was bound with. Not to mention the strong bond with the music room and....it will all come in time.

Q. What about my song choice? I wanna go with DJ Captain Jack or something made completely out of synthesizers!!
A. Eu. We do ask that the song has strong connections to orchestrations/symphonic tenancies or can be easily transfered to a more classical mood. I don't believe Feardoc was jamming in his music room to his brand new computerized synthesizer. We're going for a less contemporary age for Feardoc's time...

Q. So Mr crazypants was a brilliant composer, but did he actually play the instruments he composed for? I know that sounds weird but a lot of composers didn't play their songs themeselves.*
A. Feardoc played a few. He knew the stings, the piano and a few reed instruments. Yes, he had a bit of a range

Q. Cordelia's the wife...and the one trying to make things right. Anything else?
A. Much, but that will grow as the shop grows.

Q. So if Cordelia is doing so much and is the 'guardian' of Feardoc's music room, Why isn't she the main character? Why isn't the shop called 'Cordelia's Repent' or something?
A. Hmmm. I sense a miscommunication. Feardoc is the 'main' character of the backstory. He is regarded so because without him, there would be no shop. Cordelia acts as the 'main character' for the present time. (Not to say that the Symphonies are less than her. No, they make the shop what it is). It's about Feardoc because... the shop is about Feardoc's Symphony, the collection of music Feardoc created, not Cordelia. She acts as the repent-ace to give the shop life, the story is all about Feardoc's Symphonies.

Q. What about songs in different languages?
A. Sure. In a shop where Lyrics don't matter, if the song works with your character and the song give you a bit of an exotic feel (not that it needs to) we're all for it. =D

If there are any questions not covered here, feel free to drop a PM or post in the thread! We'd love to hear from you.
