Over the past year I have really gotten into Dumas' other works outside of The Three Musketeers. I confess that he has become one of my favorite authors in that period of time. I positively love The Count of Monte Cristo and enjoy the Musketeer series a great deal. There's always action and intrigue going on in his stories to keep a reader's interest. I also like how there are well written scenes revolving around such tragedies in the plots.

Is anyone else here a fan?

I am! I'm reading The Count of Monte Cristo right now and I love it. heart
I can definitely see myself reading much more Dumas in the future.

You know, I actually started reading Monte Cristo because I saw most of the film on TV, and it looked neat. Of course, as usual, the book is way better than the movie. I wish more writers today took hints from Dumas' style.

I first became interested in Monte Cristo thanks to that Wishbone series. wink

It seems like the more contemporary authors I try to read, the more I want to retreat back to the classics. xd

I'm actually reading The Last Cavalier right now. biggrin

Alexandre Dumas has to be one of my favorite authors. I fell in love with Count of Monte Cristo and continued reading on from there. There's so much action! Still need to read Man in the Iron Mask though...I've seen most of the movie, but haven't gotten around to the book.

The Three Musketeers was a very good book. I liked the Count of Monte Cristo and Man in the Iron Mask films, so I know that I enjoy the general plot-lines and plan on reading the books eventually. Monte Cristo is a higher priority than Iron Mask is.

I loved the Three Musketeers and I should probably start to read The Count of Monte Cristo right away but I still haven't gotten around to it LoL

I'm in the middle of The Vicomte de Bragelonne still. I really should be picking it up to finish. Yet it doesn't seem to be holding my interest...

I watched a three-disc version of Count of Monte Cristo in French, and it inspired me to go find the book. I enjoyed it a lot, and I've been meaning to keep an eye out for The Man in the Iron Mask, which I've heard a lot of good things about.

I'm reading The Three Musketeers to my boyfriend at the moment and we're both really enjoying it (even though my French pronunciation as a rule, sucks <_<). It's been a long time since I've read a book that has such vivid, individual and well-portrayed characters, and I'm finding that very refreshing at the moment. A lot of characters in modern fiction seem very generic - they mostly seem to lack the individual foibles of real people and have very typical reactions to everything - they just don't stand out. Whereas I find Dumas' characters very distinct - you can guess without being told which lines are being said by what characters, (which you certainly can't do with most lines from many modern fictions). In short, much love for Dumas. <3

I've loooooved everything I've read by Dumas so far. I want to wait before reading anything else by him, though, just so I have something to look forward to... <3

Count of Monte Cristo is a fantastic book. Did you know Dumas's son was a writer too?
