(I figure we need more normal threads than just introductions and such)
I kept noticing people talking about it, and I had no idea what it was, so I figured it was just another one of hose weirdo animes.
But then it came on CN, so I decided to watch it and find out what it was all about. I saw the one episode, was completely confused, but I still liked it! So I watched it again. And again... so here I am.
So what about you guys?

hmm... let us see..... i just decided i would start watching it via adult swim.....
thank God i did that.... cuz i would currently be without this guild.... and my new fave anime..... if i didnt. yes kat, fma actually defeats naruto.... but only by a lil bit..... 3nodding
i actually started fma on episode.... er..... 5? oh well.... im reading the manga and plan on getting the dvds... -^_^-

Yeah, I didn't see the first episode, so that's why I was confused the first time I saw it.
(Personally, I think it ties with Naruto.)

My older brother introduced it to me after a long while of rambling on about it. He showed me episode 39, I watched from there. I got so into it, and read the first half of the anime with the help of the Manga from http://fullmetal-alchemist.com . I read over the internet so I could expand my knowledge about it. I love FMA and Roy Mustang is my Favorite characters *drools* Also, when I found out Square-Enix made it (after watching 3-4 episodes of it) I was extremely in love with it. ^___^

Well, with me, I was introduced to Fullmetal Alchemist before it was on Adult Swim. My sister had me read the manga she got via mIRC link. I loved it right away, and continued to get it.

I first saw FMA early in the year (almost a year ago! o.o) at an anime club meeting. 4 fansubbed episodes. Ep four didn't leave me jumping to watch the next.
Time passed, club member didn't bring more FMA to watch (just cuz I wasn't jumping didn't mean I didn't want to see it! T__T) and I eventually kind forgot about FMA for the most part.
Went to Anime Central, learned the funimation had the rights to FMA. Talked to an Ed cosplayer about Naruto plushies (in particular the large Kakashi one) as well as the Funimation people breifly. Saw a picture of life sized armor!Al, had it confirmed that FMA would be on adult swim. Cool.
Started noticing FMA in some people signature on Gaia. Knew a net friend that was into FMA. Finally got ahold of more FMA from friend, up to ep 26.
And I watched and fell in love.
Before I finished watching the borrowed episodes, my mom got cable internet installed, and knowing I wouldn't be able to get more from that same friend, I contacted my net friend to get more eps of FMA so I wouldn't be left hanging after I got to ep 26. After getting to episode 44 or something from her, I was up to date and starting being so impatient that I downloaded raws while waiting for fansubs.
And here I am.

I saw the preview for FMA on Adult Swim one night and decided that it looked very awesom, so I stayed up to watch the premiere. I. Was. Floored. From episode 1 I was totally hooked. The next week, I watched episode 2. From that point on I was totally obsessed. I'm not sure whether it's a measure of how much a geek one is or how good the series is that one can be hooked afte the first episode and hoplessly obsessed after the second. Maybe both.
I spent the next week after that tirelessly hunting for FMA communities, spoilers, fanfics, fanart, ANYTHING I could find. And I found a heck of a lot. I subscribed to three FMA communities on LJ and stole countless pics for my own evil devices. wink I now consistently keep tabs on several ongoing fics, and have already developed a raging, ravening fangirl obsession over Ed. I am sad. But it's so FUN!! mrgreen
When I realized that people on Gaia actually were interested in FMA, I scrambled over here as fast as my processor would take me. mrgreen

I found out about Full-Metal Alchemist last year from my 7th grade science teacher who i also learned about naruto from!
He was my favorite teacher id ever had. After he got me obsessed with naruto he gave me the first 4 volumes of FMA on a disk and told me to try reading it. I read it and was it was awesome so i also got a few eps from my friend( crying cant download anime cuz i have dial up crying )
then one day i was on adultswim.com and there was a link to an interview with funimation about fma so i read it and they didnt say ne thing about showin the anime and then i went to check under adultswims SHOWS and there it was on the list so i got all excited and impatient and went crazy becuz this was more than a week before it came on.I kept on chekin the my tv guide for saturday the next week to make sure it was still gonna come on and i finally saw it. The anime was just as great as the manga and they even did an ok job dubbing so ive been watchin it since then on adultswim
I was gonna get all the anime from my teacher but he decided he didnt want to get in trouble with my parent for givin me a violent anime so i got the whole shaman king series from him instead ill hav to force my friend to get FMA for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I first saw it I always though "Man! What a wannabe Full Metal Panic! Shame!!!!" scream And one day me was exploring my brother computer. Hehe... ninja and then there it was. Fullmetal Alchemist. I looked at it with temptation to fine out just exactly what's the deal with this anime. One episode led to another and before I knew it, I was hooked.... O_O Now I'm about to bash my computer if the movie don't come out soon...... -glare evily- Damn you world! Why couldn't I be born Japanese.....Yes Japan.......with all the animes and no subtitles...... -laughs maniacally- It shall me mine!!!!!!!!!
