Not literally a book diet, although I wish, I would be the thinnest person ever if you could loose weight by reading books. I mean, what type of books do you like? Everyone has what I call a "Book diet" A set type of books you read, like fiction or historical, and if you read too much of a different type of book ( however good it may be ) you start to feal upset. Like, your not getting enough of something and you miss it. That craving for a good book, despite the fact you are already reading one. But once you go back to your favorite type you feal all better ^_^.

Discuss:

Do you believe in book diets?
Do you have a book diet?
If so what do you think yours is?

I definitely have a book diet. I hadn't thought of it before, but it's true.

I'll gobble up any book that comes my way, but the ones I always go for are fantasy, usually of the Tolkien style. I guess the "epic fairy story" would be a good way to describe.

So judging by that I guess I do believe book diets, and you can't be crazy, because I understand that completely (unless that just makes us both crazy blaugh )



EDIT: I just realized what a terrible pun "gobble" was, and I totally didn't mean to do that.

I would say my book diet, because I definitely have one, would probably consist of fantasy romances that lean further toward action. However, comedy is usually thrown into the books I absolutely adore.

I do sometimes feel the need to add variety and I'll occasionally wander away from the norm. I usually like the books too. It seems to me that fantasy romance is the easiest genre to find bucket loads of crap in.

I think most about my book diet when I'm in the bookstore. I always try to get something practical yet interesting and something fun even if I end up disregarding the practical book for awhile.

Well, I can't say I have much of a book diet. More like a book binge. When I don't have enough time on my hand, I don't touch a single book.
...Unless it's to buy it. I always seem to think that there will come a time when I'll have nothing to do and I'll need all those books to keep me from boredom...
Anyways, when the time does come that I've got more than enough time on my hands, I can devour a book within a couple of hours to about three days.

I think I know what you mean, I only read books that are Novels or Romance books. If theres not someone getting together in the book, then I just get bored. But if the storyline is very good and its Fantasy, then yeah I'll read it even if it doesn't have Romance in it.

My book diet is typically historical fiction. It can have the tendencies of being from the romance genre, but not always. When I feel upset by this diet, I'll typically grab a fantasy or non-fiction book for a change of scenery.

You are most definitely not alone with book diets.

my book diet seems to be made of manga right now sweatdrop

but yeah, my books of choice for reading tend to be either grand fantasy, or some weird fiction that's all about morals in a creepy way. ie: xxxHOLiC... where every chapter is a lesson about life, but done really really really creepily, people die because they lie and such.

I think my book tastes change every now and then. My current diet consists of non-fiction, and for the past several months has ranged around astronomy and marine biology. The specific subjects change over time, but non-fiction is always an important part of my diet. wink

My book diet always is changing but there is one constant. I read fiction with happy endings. If I haven't read a book with atleast a semi-happy ending in a while I feel like I'm missing out on something.

Fantasy and historical fiction, actually.

This is an interesting idea, I think. Now that I consider the possibility, I realise that I never actually feel at ease if I haven't read a good fantasy novel or historical fiction in a week. It's like a drug to me.
