Australian Shepherds’ general appearance varies, depending on the family line. The breed can be split into two distinct lines - working and show dogs. Working dogs tend to have shorter coats, thinner and sometimes smaller whilst the show lines are bred according to breed standard and can have long fur.

Males normally stand at 21-23 inches at the shoulder while females are 18-21 inches. With wieght, males are normally 45-60 pounds, and females normally weigh 35-45 pounds.

Aussie colors are black, blue merle (marbled black and gray), and red merle (marbled red and silver or buff); each of these colors may also have copper points and/or white markings in various combinations on the face, chest, and legs. A black or red dog with copper and white trim is called tricolor, a black or red dog with white trim but no copper is called bicolor or bi. White should not appear on the body of the dog from topmost point of the shoulder blade to the tail except in the merles. All black and blue merle dogs have black noses, eye rims, and lips. All red and red merle dogs have liver or brown noses, eye rims, and lips.

There is also great variety in the Aussie's eye color. An early nickname for the breed was "ghost-eye dog". Aussie eyes may be green, hazel, amber, brown, or blue; they may have two different colored eyes, or even have bicolored eyes, which appear to be linked to the merle coloration. Merled eyes occur as well, where one color is mixed in and swirled with another. In general black Aussies (self, bi-color or tri-color) tend to have brown eyes, while red (self, bi-color or tri-color) Aussies tend to have amber eyes. Though these Aussies may also carry the blue-eyed gene.

A hallmark of the breed is a short bobbed or docked tail in countries where docking is permitted. Some Aussies are born with naturally short bobbed tails, others with full long tails, and others with natural partial bobs, where the tail is midlength and appears stubby. Breeders have historically docked the tails when the puppies are born. Even without a tail, the wagging movement of the hind end still occurs. Some Australian Shepherd breeders try to keep the tail on the dog for the natural look, which can still be shown in the breed ring.

Generally the breed is an energetic dog that requires exercise and enjoys working, whether it is learning and practicing tricks, competing in dog agility, or any other physically and mentally involving activity. Other Aussies would rather be with their humans and enjoy being couch potatoes. It is usually a sweet and affectionate dog who is faithful to its owners and they are great with children. Most Australian Shepherds make wonderful family dogs, provided there is at least one shepherd-figure to act as a leader and mentor to the dog.

Dogs with strong working instinct may show more reserved, guarding behaviors along with a tendency to chase or n** at running children or strangers if not properly trained. Its protective instinct and behaviors can be frightening to children, strangers, and small animals. Those bred for a more family-oriented temperament are more friendly and affectionate with strangers and generally more reliable around children. Because the breed was developed to serve on the ranch, a job which includes being protective of its property, it sometimes can be annoying with its inclination to bark warnings about neighborhood activity, but it is not generally an obsessively barking dog.

The Aussie is intelligent, learns quickly, and loves to play. This means that a bored, neglected, unexercised Aussie will invent its own games, activities, and jobs, which to a busy owner might appear to be hyperactivity: for example, an Aussie may go from being at rest to running at top speed for several 'laps' around the house before returning to rest, all apparently for no purpose. Without something to amuse them, Aussies often turn destructive of yard or property. Aussies also do best with plenty of human companionship: they are often called "velcro" for their strong desire to always be near their owners and for their tendency to form intense, devoted bonds with select people.

He was amiable, bright, curious and strong. But most of all, he was young. He was just a boy yet he was stubborn with his morals. No older than 23 and he was off to war. It began when he looked towards his mother, a bright smile lighting up the dismal room. He looked her in the eye, over a simple meal of porridge and small slices of ham from the butcher down the lane. The setting was country cottage, minimal damage from the war raging outside within, around, encompassing the cities. Food was becoming difficult to come by. Provisions from the farm were donated to the community, sharing to keep everything moderately in tact. He became restless. Newspapers told of the horrible happenings in London, the bombs that began to fall without rest. The papers made what raids they had, sheltering themselves from the bombs, look like an autumns eve in the orchard.

The tales were gruesome, yet still, our young protagonist smiled. He looked his father in the eye and said, “Father, I’ll promise to make you proud.”

He shook his father’s hand and with a hug, a kiss from mother and little sister he left. He joined the Royal Air Force, making his way to up towards a cadet. Letters were sent from sister and mother to the young cadet, informing either his progress or the sister’s tales of her small school. There was little word from his father, silent except for a small pocket watch, no doubt left from his grandfather. To this tiny trinket he clung, as if it were his lifeline. Stories exchanged, and the yearning to make his home safe weighted the soldier’s heart as he celebrated his last night on English soil within London.

The atmosphere was merry and Vera Lynn’s “White Cliffs of Dover” was being preformed by a small group of musicians from the force, accompanied by a small beauty. Drinks were given to the troops, soldiers and cadets alike. Infantries combined for but a short while.

However, something was wrong, outside of the usual. The air raid siren shrieked out into the city, warning families to seek their shelters and wait the hellish time out. However our Cadet felt something within his stomach drop. The pocket watch. He had forgotten his father’s gift.

Quickly and with verdict he shot out of the shelter into the hotel. The sound of bombs falling was horrid, echoing in his ears and vibrating within his bones. He ran to the small office where the RAF meeting was held previously. Before the dance, before the air raid siren. He saw something glinting in the moonlight, accentuated by the glare of plane lights and bomb explosions. A quiet ticking made him look right and grab his item, yet there was still a glinting.

A loud human whimper came from the corner. A soldier, no a Cadet. A friend and new member to our protagonists’ family.

“Stop!” our cadet shouted. The boy, the friend the pseudo brother looked over, fear written in large eyes. The gun pointed towards his head.

“I don’t want to see the front. Never.”

Our cadet surged forward, causing his friend, brother and battle-buddy to shoot up and sprint down the hall. And he followed, pocket watch in hand, only wanting to help. They ran our towards Saint Paul’s Cathedral, the white stone blinding against the dark, dark, dark of the city.

There was no way they could have seen it coming, much less hear. The adrenaline and the final realization. Our cadet shot towards his friend, brother and comrade. With farm strengthened arms he pushed, threw and shoved him behind the wall. Realization was quick for the suicidal friend. But he ran regardless, hearing the explosion, seeing the shrapnel dig into our Cadet. The burns, the explosion as the bomb detonated.

Within our hero’s hand lay the broken, partially melted pocket watch. Blood poured around his body. He was no longer. Within death he looked peaceful, despite being broken and bloodied. They had missed enough of the explosion to not be completely destroyed.

He was given a small ceremony. Not a hero’s worship as it should have been. And it was the friend, brother and comrade who took the pocket watch from the cold cadet’s hand and returned it to the father with the tale of his heroics.

The hero’s name was Clancy...

{ Extra Notes }

Normal Attire: Currently Quincy has become quite attached to his short RAF jacket. He will not leave the house without it. Beneath the coat he opts out for simple clothing. However, this is Aaron dressing him. Simple and classy is quite his style, yet with the help of an overzealous aunt and a couple trips to the clothing shops gives the young boy a fine choice of clothing. Shirts and sweaters fall into the line of things that Quincy doesn’t mind whichever is closest when Aaron pulls him out of bed. However, he favors his pants to be comfortable and baggy. Cargo is a preference, something that is durable and able to go through his wild adventures. Quincy is also very attached to his shoes. They are easy on and off, the slipper like fashion, and very durable. He could go barefoot or with socks.

{ Personality }

Quincy is a curious sort. By nature he is extremely loyal to few and loving to most. It was easy to see that the boy was bright, just from the intelligence in his eyes. There was also a sense of age and seriousness observed within the calculating depths. He learns quickly and loves to learn, often asking enough questions for an entire class of intellects. Above all he loves to play and explore. Quincy should never be left to his own devices, yes if left alone he can certainly entertain himself, but normally his antics are destructive without meaning too. At a young age Quincy will be very trusting and very protective of all and any of his friends. He won’t be hard to get to, as a simple smile will evoke a friendly emotion from the boy. He also tends to be a bit of a herder, liking everything to be organized and slightly correct. In short the boy is happy-go-lucky and won’t let anyone change that.

Likes: Clouds, the sky, airplanes, chasing, playing, movement, friends, playmates, his family, a good chew toy.
Dislikes: Chocolate, loud noises, strong and foul scents, betrayal, lack of attention, boredom and mean people.
Image Song: Run On - Moby
Lyrics: “You might run on for a long time, Run on, ducking and dodging~”

Is currently: Very confused…

Name:: Aaron McCormick
Nicknames:: Aar, A, Ace.
Parents Zachary McCormick & Emily Wells
Gender:: Male
Age:: 32
Posts in:: Black
Race:: Human
Nationality:: British//Gaian
Martial Status:: Single
Crush:: Like he’d tell you.
Best Friend:: Matt Bines
Favourite Song:: Ready for the Floor – Hot Chip
Eye Color:: Carrot brown.
Hair Color:: Brown
Skin Tone:: Fair and peachy.
Distinguishing Features~ His unruly hair for one, and his glasses.

{ History }

Aaron has had a very normal life. He was born to Zachary and Emily, August 11th, 1975 in a lovely town above Durem. From youth he’d have found computers to be amazing, tinkering with his first at the age of 9 and further learning the workings all through his schooling. His parents were at first worried for his social and life skills and for good reason. Aaron was pulled in, keeping his small cluster friends close and refusing to expand. He still is slightly socially awkward, often times not being able to meet someone the first time without accidentally stubbing a tow, losing a sentence or looking like a fool in general.

However, he did make it through his youth. After university, an off and on experience he’d rather not talk about, he joined a small design firm based in Durem. He himself lives but a few blocks away from the building based near the outskirts of the city. He lives alone in a small flat, second floor, with modest furnishings. While not extravagant he lives the life of a small time web designer and still keeps in touch with his mother and father.

{ Extra Notes }

{Profession}: Web Designer/computer programmer
{Employer}: Seedpie Graphics | Marie Cu’loui

Marie Cu’loui :: Co-Owner/designer
David Sheft :: Co-Owner/designer
Toshiko Manto :: designer
Matthew Bines :: designer/computer help
Amy Gable :: designer/coffee & nibblies
Aaron McCormick :: Website manager/photographer/nibblies

Normal Attire: – Generally laid back yet clean. Things that fit nicely.

{ Personality }

Aaron is a free flowing, no boundaries man. He’s happily settled into a simplistic life as a computer programmer and web designer for a growing Design Firm. Despite the pangs of being single Aaron has a happy-go-lucky attitude. He has an odd dry-humor and is known, at work, as the king of deadpanned one-liners. However, as the comic relief in often-tense situations Aaron has the uncanny ability to resolve most issues within the workplace. However, at home he feels most out of his element. One can only wonder how he would react to being tied down to the home, let alone with a child.

Likes: Music, websites that work, his friends, dogs, Chinese, ice cream, hoagies from Sam’s Sandwich Shoppe, iced tea, coffee, Sherlock Holmes and sci-fi.
Dislikes: Screaming, servers failing, the use of Comic Sans ms within a website, being turned down and cold weather.
Image Song: Run On - Moby
Lyrics: ”You’re my number one guy~
Quote: "Hmmmm….I’d say a Dollar."
Is currently: What the puppy?!

User ImageName:: Aaron McCormick.
Quin's Name:: Dad, Puppa.
Relation:: Aaron was the one who first witnessed Quincy coming into the world and ultimately passed out because of it. At first the man was tentative about taking Quincy home. However, the toddling dog-child followed and stumbled after him in a pitiful state that Aaron had no choice and simply brought the kid home. He had no idea what to do with the half dog, half human child who spoke like a human but acted like a puppy. Immediately he called his cousin and good friend over to help him with the boy.
Quincy's Feelings:: In the beginning Quincy was a little frightened of the larger man. Yet, he looks up to him an just wants some affection and care from Aaron. The first day was harrowing, exciting and frightening all at once, however Quincy couldn't resist the quick fall into father worship. Aaron is his dad and that's that.
Aaron's Feelings:: Aaron was half baked on the issue of having a dog child follow him to the point of sympathy. He was scared out of his mind when he first saw the Aussie burning and will admit that he was the slightest bit wussy about the entire ideal. It wasn't until the night he brought Quincy home that he decided that he really wanted to be there for the kid and take care of him. He's scared, unsure and is heavily relying on Kilani to teach him how to be a father.
___

User ImageName:: Kilani Lavire.
Quin's Name:: Aun'ie Kiki.
Relation:: Kilani first received word of a 'dog child' within Aaron's possession and simply thought her idiot cousin had found a child, taken it home and it was acting wild. It took some convincing to get the theatre teacher to believe that the child was in fact part dog. She hurried over the next morning, hands filled with coffee and a small stuffed toy for the child and proceeded to aid her cousin in setting up an extra room and purchasing the correct products for a toddler.
Quincy's Feelings:: There was no question. Immediately, as soon as Kilani walked through the door, happy expression with a cuddly gift, Quincy loved her. He was all over her, clinging, hugging with his tail wagging at full speed. She set him down with crayons and paper and proceeded to teach him fun things. Like what to call Aaron, how to make a doggy using your hands and a flashlight. Overall, Kilani was cool beans.
Kilani's Feelings:: Kilani went into the situation with a strong head on her shoulders. She loved the child, he was cute, funny and adorable. Granted the was a bit miffed that Aaron had put him in fence pen with news paper. She immediately took the role of doting aunt and has been as such ever since.
___

User ImageName:: Quincy Sherlock McCormick.
Nick Name:: Quin.
Relation:: Quincy is a combination between RAF cadet and Australian shepherd. Aaron he has taken as a father and loves him dearly. Kilani is the fun loving aunt who Quincy immediately struck up a bond with. Overall the tiny pup has charmed his immediate family.

Mr. Baa : A gift from Kilani when she first met Quincy. Aaron found the intuitive impulse hilarious given Quincy's heredity. Quincy loves this gift from his aunt and carries it about the house. However, it's odd how he won't let it leave the house. Hmm...
