Runny nose really sore throat red itchy dry eyes. Been drinking green tea with mint leaves (from my garden) and still no relief and this has been going on for almost two weeks now. Help?

This isn't exactly organic, but I find that ramen really soothes my throat. It's also nice if you're not feeling really hungry. Kills two birds with one stone smile

Two weeks is kinda pushing it for a cold, so if it lasts through next week or gets worse, go see a doctor. Typically it takes about ten days for your body to fight off something like a cold.

As for your itchy eyes, all I can think of to do would be to put a warm, steamy cloth over them and just relax. The warmth will draw the sickness up into the cloth.

help for the allergies or the symptoms? If it's springtime related (which I have.. yay hayfever & pollen) I just suffer through the sneezing and whatnot. If it's environmental, then you're better off trying to remove as much of the allergen as you can from around you.

warm liquids help with a sore throat, like the tea you've been drinking. My mom always said to gargle with warm water + salt. It's disgusting and I always resisted doing so but it does help. Sucking on a spoonful of honey is a temporary relief, because the honey will coat your throat but eventually dissolves.

As for the itchy eyes I can't help you with that. I tend to rub my eyes until it feels like razors at which point i'm so tired that I just fall asleep. lol. bad, i know.

There's a good article on mother earth news, but of the suggestions listed I'm only familiar with neti pots.

Allergies are tricky because sometime too much 'organic' is the problem.
sweatdrop

I'm allergic to almost all trees, grass, flowers, weeds, etc. and cats.

orange juice always helps with my throat.
Wasabi REALLY clears the sinuses rofl

Im allergic to like everything XD

I take medicine that works for the trees outside, and for some reason, im not allergic to MY cat, but when i get around my sister who has 7 cats i start coughing and sneezing and my eyes get red and watery.

When i do things outside like mowing the grass, or even when i dust the house, i have to wear masks to keep it from getting to my nose.

That is weird! My friend has about 7 cats and some I'm more allergic to than others. Generally the cleaner cats that don't shed as much are ok to me. Thankfully I don't have to mow the lawn....

It's possible to build up a tolerance to some allergens. My close friends' cats used to make my eyes water and my nose run, but now I don't have any problems.

If it's the dander that you're allergic to, your reaction can depend on whether or not the owner shampoos their cats. I'm allergic to the actual skin, so I'm basically screwed. xp

What the cats eat will also affect if you're allergic to them or not. I have a few friends that are apparently allergic to cats, but never have a problem with my two lovelies. I believe it's the food, as these two have a high grade holistic/natural/frou-frou food they eat.

If you have a sore throat, I find that gargling with salt water helps. I usually do that with a cold so I'm not sure how helpful it'll be with allergies.

gargling salt water is helpful in that it will relieve any throat yuck, from post nasal drip and other allergy leakings.
