High-functioning Hellraiser

 Patches of Black, Green and Grey sped by the rows the Brown and Green at a fast pace. The male panted as he chased after his "prey". Weaving in and out of all the trees, jumping over rocks and trunk, he paid no mind to any other life but his target, a small blue bird.
Ginning, he could see the forest exit and feel himself getting closer and closer to catching the bird. His blue eyes twinkling, the male Minya made a final pounce as he shot through the forest exit, which he did not know ended on the edge of a hill...
Missing his target, who flew off in to the sky, Benji's heart stopped for a minute as he fell towards the ground and tumbled down the hill as he made impact.

Bella was at the bottom of the hill, walking through the tall grasses that were still a fresh green from the spring rain. The silver bells around her neck rang softly with each step she took and her silver and white fur glistened in the sunlight, the pale purplish-blue puff of her tail taking more color.
She stood out in the green grass like a sore thumb, but she didn't mind; it made it easier for her adoptive son, a bright blue runt Minya named Kayne, to find her.
At the moment, she was preoccupied with hunting through the grasses for caterpillars. She was hoping to bring one back to Kayne as a pet to have him watch it until it turned into a butterfly. She hoped that he would enjoy such a thing.

Benji screamed and groaned as he continued to roll down the hill. He knew something like this was painful, but he didn't know it would be this painful. His sight was blurring from his first impact and his head felt like it was going to crack open like an egg.
He had tried to stop himself a few times, but nothing worked. His pained ended as his body hit the bottom of the hill. Dust, birds and butterflies flew from his landing spot.
Groaning, he slowing picked himself up with his wobbly legs. Benji's blue eyes scanned the area and spotting a female near by.
"Hello there!" the male laughed a bit as he fell to the ground.

Bella had looked up when she'd heard the groans and screams and saw a greenish-black Minya rolling down the hill. She winced as he landed in a rather visually painful manor at the bottom and quickly made her way over. "Are you alright...?"
Her voice was soft, and her golden orbs that were her eyes were wide in concern. "You looked like you landed rather painfully..."

Benji looked up from his spot with a goofy grin plastered on his face. His vision was still kind of blurred, but he could still see well enough.
"Painful, yes, it was painful, yet sort of fun, but I am fine enough. At least I am still alive." There were bits of pain and laughter in his voice as he spoke.
Flipping over, Benji did his best to get himself on his feet once more.

Bella couldn't help but laugh a little at the goofy grin on his face; this was one crazy Minya, that was for sure. Her laughter was a lot like the bells she wore around her neck, soft and light.
"Here, lean on me, I can support a bit of weight." She smiled and lowered herself so that Benji could lean on her. "I'm sure if you walk around a bit, you'll feel a bit better. I'm Bella, by the way."

Benji smiled at the the females laughter, it made him want to laugh more. He couldn't help but notice that her laughter was soft and comforting.
Taking up Bella's offer Benji leaned against her a bit.
"Nice to meet you Bella and thanks. My name's Benji."
The goofy male seemed to trail off a bit as his eyes spotted something. There, not too far off was his target, or a bird that looked similar to his past target. His goofy grin returned as his tail swished around rapidly.
"There he is! I see him!" Like a rocket, the male took off. He jumped up and tried to pounce on the bird, but all he got was a headache, more pain, and a face full of bird with a laughing bird flying off.

Bella smiled. "It's nice to meet-" Her sentance was cut short as Benji shot off after a bird. "...you?" She finished, watching him curiously. She wondered if he really could catch it, and then winced and shut her eyes tightly as he pounced and flopped onto nothing, the bird flying away.
She walked over to him and tilted her head. "Why are you chasing after the bird? Does it have something of yours?" She looked over to see the bird landing high up in a tree.

Benji got up and flopped down on his butt as he caughed up some dirt. He glared as the bird as he cleaned the dirt off his face.
"No, he has nothin' of mine, but ever since I first saw him he has been mocking me. He is a mocking bird and I want to get back at him!"
Benji slammed his paw on the ground at the last comment as the bird cooed at him.
"So far, I have had no luck with that." he chuckled as he got up off the ground and turned away.

"Perhaps it's better to just leave it be? I bet you he's mocking you just to get a reaction out of you." She spoke softly, but with an air of confidence.
"I've been busy looking for caterpillars for my son. I thought that he'd like to see them turn into butterflies, since it is pretty interesting.... Would you like to join me?" She smiled to him, welcoming him to join her with her quest.
"I understand if you have something else that you need to get to, or if you just plain don't want to."

"I guess you are right, but it is still fun chasing after him." Benji laughed and he turned towards Bella with a suprised look.
"You have a son? Where is he?" The male looked around looking for another Minya. "Is he around here, or is he hiding off somewhere? I don't mind helping you look for caterpillars. They are fun to play with."

Bella couldn't help but laugh. "I have an adopted son. I'm far too young to have a child of my own, but I suppose that's a matter of opinion." She chuckled a bit more. "He's around somewhere. I know he's currently taken up residence with another Minya, an adult, but he still stops by to see me."
She then smiled to Benji. "I'm glad you'll help! I hope this will be fun. Unfortunately I haven't found any today, so I may just wait a few more weeks before I try again. My favorite ones are the fuzzy ones..."

Benji's ears perked up a bit.
"Oh~ That is a nice thing to do for a child, you know, adopting him and all. It is not fun growing up on your own."
Benji walked around a bit looking through the grass. "It is not that hard to find caterpillars if you know where to look. You just follow their trail, the dead the bitten leaves and there!"
He spotted a fat looking fuzzy caterpillar. Trying to pick it up using a paw and tail, the fuzzy big bit him on the end of his tail.
"OUCH!"

Bella's cheeks flushed a bit as Benji spoke about the adoption. "It wasn't just that... he and I just bonded when we met, that's all. He's very special to me, and it warm my heart whenever he calls me mom...." She smiled, thinking about her son and wondering what the little runt was doing at the moment.
Benji shouting out 'ouch', however, halted her thoughts and she turned around, eyes wide. "Are you alright? What happened?"

Benji whimpered as he swung his tail around trying to get the caterpillar off. His thoughts on caterpillars being cute, sweet and harmless now left with this incident.
"Get this evil thing off of me! I think it is eating my tail! It hurts!"
He halted and held his tail up at Bella with a sad look on his face. "Please?"
