just an honest topic. do your con'cultures or con'worlds ever use Symbols? such as like America uses symbols for toilets/road signs/and other random things. my culture does use a few, such as tattoos and other Personal markings such as the wedding marking on the left wrist, or the mark of the Lord Deayeas(who is Earths God by Christians) servants marked on the Right hand across the thumb. other symbols include markings on buildings to signify which culture it belongs to (like in Trade Markets or Travel centers and such) though symbols also can include those on Flags (though my cultures are from a planet that used to be between mars and Jupiter thus they have no knowledge of the use of flags from the world of Earth in the future.)

others symbols can be used as well though, such as the usage of symbols on clothing and jewelry referring back to ancient cultures and times of peace and beauty or something interesting like that. so my main question is does everybody just use flags or are there other "Symbols" that you use?

The culture of the Vosh uses a set of symbols pertaining to magic, similar to the alchemical language. These symbols are inscribed onto candles, written over doors and bedframes, inscribed on windows and even used in jewelry and on ceremonial articles of clothing. Mundane items are usually labeled in the basic language but certain items written on in the 'magical text' are seen as talismanic. EX. The people of Vosh are hunters and trappers by trade, so they may enchant their bows/arrows/spears/traps to aid them in getting a 'kill shot' instead of the animal having to suffer.
As far as flags go, I honestly havent given it much thought...

People from the continent Xaphalas, and from the city of Xel'Dragoranoth use symbols to indicate their clan, their family, and personal things to. Their buildings are sculpted with images of what is inside and what the building is to be used for.

For example, the Raixeibu (Dreaded Shadows) is a clan in the city of Xel'Dragoranoth on the human continent of Astrodoth--the only one of it's kind. Anyway, the Clan Raixiebu use symbols such as the Eye of Truth for decoration. The Eye of Truth is a symbol that the entire city recognizes, for the Clan, being one full of assassins, usually has their hands in a lot of affairs and knows a lot of things that happen in the city, thus the Eye of Truth was conceived, representing their omnipotence of sorts. They also have a clan symbol, also used for any goods or shipping containers they send out, or use, and for weapons, Eviscerator (elite assassin) masks, and other things.
