Mawu was so chipper lately. Since she had talked to her new friend, the god of wanderlust of all things, she had a happier view on life. In fact-she was ecstatic and now she had a strong desire to play. So her newest target-was her brother Muskie.

She was sneaking up to where she knew he was-hidden behind rocks and a few shrubs... her tiny purple eyes seeking his form out. She was a mighty hunter-perhaps... that was what she would have to be to bring honor to her family.

Who knew. She stopped to step over a few large rocks, trying to her best to be quiet but... being a cub of young age-was not so good at being so. After a few moments of being a bit 'not so secret' she sauntered to where she could see her brother.

Muskie, who was curled up comfortably one a sun baked rock for his afternoon nap was unaware of his sibling's stalking. Being one of the more silent of his litter, he didn't usually interact with the others and spent most of his time alone- the way he liked it.

He was well aware of the fact that he was male, but he wasn't so much weary about the fact that he was in a female dominant pride. He humbled himself off anything that could be described as a "high horse" but at the same time, didn't quite take to the rules very well. The thought of being told what to do by a bunch of females didn't make any sense to him at all.

Muskie wasn't the type to get angry, but he was easy to annoy. The one thing that really pushed the wrong buttons was those who talked too much, and his own right ear. It was because of that ear that he couldn't stand any slight noise for the fact that his right ear had a mind of its own and twitched when so much as a whisper caught its attention. The thought of cutting it off with his short, sharpened claws often came to mind, but thought the better of it since having one ear would look rather silly. In this case, it was indeed a sound that irritably woke him from his slumber.

Letting out a groan, he opened his red eye ever so slightly, glancing around for the one who ruined his nap.

Mawu was intent on getting her brothers tail in her mouth and gnawing it a bit. She loved to annoy her sibling-considering he was a rather snappish at times. But this tickled Mawu ever so. As she stalked, she spotted her orange brother napping. Oh what luck-he was asleep. In no time she'd have his tail in her mouth and he'd no doubt give her a swat on the head.

She felt her happiness lower a bit upon seeing him awake. Oh... she bit her cheek with a pout. How fun was it to spring out and surprise someone when they were awake-none. She stepped out into the open, shaking her head with a smile. "Silly... you're not supposed to wake up... How can I properly sneak up on you if you are awake..." She asked.

She padded up beside him and gazed at him with a smile. "Good morning brother... did you sleep well?" She asked, sitting down and wrapping her tail around her paws. Her purple eyes shut as she basked in the sun that shown down upon them. Her being black made her absorb the light very well and it felt amazing. "Mmm."

Frowning slightly, Muskie didn't show much more emotion as he gave her an impassive stare. Great... it had to be this one- the one that seemed to place talking at the top of her hobby list. Wanting to shun her away, he never called her by name nor did he appear to really care about the fact that she was eying up his tail. He hoped that she'd know better.

"What do you want?" he asked dryly, not feeling a single playful bone in his body at that moment.

Muskie never took to the childish games of tag or hide-and-seek. Since his other siblings never offered to play with him, he would sit back and watch, thinking of how dumb they looked. His sister, Mawu was perhaps the most annoying one of the bunch. Too happy, and too hyper.

Mawu sat with a smile on her face-despite the fact she could tell her brother didn't enjoy her company-as of now. It pleased her-because she'd try her best to make him at least smile once during this visit. She wiggled her eyebrow at him for a moment. "Just wanted to visit Muskie... nothing wrong with that!" She said.

There was something different about her. Since the very beginning of life-she had been a bit distant and reluctant to do much. She had been sad alot to-but since she met the friend 'she wouldn't talk about' she was in such a better mood. Smiles usually never crossed her face-but lately now... they are beyond a normal sight to see.

"I haven't talked to you in a while brother... so I thought I'd come see you... I was planning on biting your tail a bit... but its obvious you wouldn't like that much. " She said, a small smile across her maw. She lay down and stretched out her grey socked paws in front of her with a giggle

Muskie could think of all the things that was wrong with this...

The more his sister spoke, the more Muskie felt the need to stand up and just walk away to a better napping location. I knew it... this one has diarrhea of the mouth... He continued to stare at her blankly until she was finished speaking. The giggle seemed like the cherry on top of a treat that was hard to swallow.
"In a while?" he remarked while carelessly glancing away. Maybe if you don't make eye contact, it'll go away. "I recall not speaking to you at all... You seem to have enough talk in you to count for the both of us."

Mawu dug her paw into the ground for a moment. It was true- she had not talked to much of anyone unless it was called upon her to do so. She had been quiet and concealed about everything she did... but now... she was happy and it was as if she had been broken out of her shell. "Well... I haven't said much of anything for a long time." She said, rather quietly, feeling s though her brother would not really enjoy her company... but she wanted one smile...

At least one.

She smiled at him, paws crossed. "I'll only stay a little while... so I won't bother you..." She said, smiing up at her brother a bit, lowering her head to roll onto her back and waggle her toes at him a bit. Come on... one smile.

Unable to hold it in any longer, Muskie let out a deep, irritated sigh.
"Don't you have innocent little creatures to pounce on?" he mumbled while rolling over on his rock, facing the opposite direction. He hoped that she'd do more than take the hint. Surely she had better things to do than trying to make him talk. There had to be some reason why she was bugging him. The most irritating thing of all was that whenever she spoke, his ear would twitch even more. It was as if she and his ear somehow formed an alliance to annoy him. That had to be it. There was no other reason for this madness!

Mawu gazed at him for a moment-not sure what to say to his comment. First... her instinct was to get angry and spring up, giving him a whap on the head. But... she paused and a smile crossed her face- "Nope..." She said, a smile across her face. She lifted her face up to him and grinned, her eyes shut tightly. (squee)

"I'd rather be here with my favorite brother" She said, standing up and walking so that she was in front of him. She placed a paw on his, a kind smile across her face. She wanted a smile-one... just a tweak in his lip. Anything... ANYTHING. "Cause I love you"

Feeling the hair ridge along his spine, Muskie continued to ignore her until she made physical contact with his paw. It didn't help when she suddenly lashed him with those kind words. Not showing any signs of whip-lash, Muskie stood up, sliding his paw out from under hers. It was obvious that by now, she was doing the "kill them with kindness" routine. He still didn't know why she was trying so hard, but one thing was for sure, she was one tough cookie for lasting this long. Unfortunately, this just made him go exactly in the opposite direction in the best way possible.

"How can you say that to somebody you don't even know?" he asked her with a slight grin, the closest to a smile he was willing to throw. "You're my sister, sure, but I'd hate to crush those little adolescent dreams of yours by telling you that I really don't care. So I'm going to make this easy for you since I'm sure that you, as a female, are probably going to sharpen your claws on my opinions."

With that, he turned away from her and began to make his exit.

Mawu gazed at him for a moment-sitting up with her newly rejected paw. Her face was a diffrent one now... a sad one... or perhaps something more. Suddenly, part of her mothers personality sprang foreward and she lashed out at him with a paw-not because of what it would be thought-to be upsetting her. "Your wrong. I'd never do that... your my brother... Just because of who I am... doesn't mean anything-"

She stood up, her purple eyes were narrowed and angry. How could he say that... even if it was pride law-she'd always follow the law-but... it was her brother and no matter what-she'd see him as that... nothing else. "And if you are really gonna act that way about something as silly as that... than you best be thinking differently then mister! Cause the one thing I am not afraid to do-is whip your head into shape!" She said, turning on her heel and heading away from him.

At least-she got sort of smile out of him.

It was at this point when Muskie realized that his happy-go-lucky sister was indeed quite capable of snapping. He was beginning to wonder how long she'd last before it happened. Surely this was a sign that his sister was indeed emotionally strong. Now he had to put up with that on top of everything else.

"That's easy for you to say." Muskie remarked calmly over his shoulder. Though he felt somewhat bad about the hurtful tone, he still proceeded not to show it. "You assume I'd get worked up about this but that's where you're wrong. I don't care because it's not the way I am, I don't care because I don't want a reason to be disappointed. You wouldn't understand, but perhaps you figure it out someday."

Mawu stopped in her tracks, spinning around to glare at him with a nasty look. How dare-he... what an ignorant butt head. Oh, she'd throttle him hard core. She started to go towards him to give him a twap on his head-but... something more intriguing sprang into her mind. She pursed her lips and waggled her eyebrow but in the still stubborn tone-spoke.

"Hmm. Well... No matter what you say Brother Dear... I still love you." She said, sticking out her tongue and turning on her heel again-this time-walking straight back to where her mother lay sleeping.

Maybe that would kick some sense into her brother

Feeling himself want to find the nearest rock and put himself out of his misery, Muskie paused again and let out a deep sigh. She was so persistent and he still didn't know what it is she was after. Why would someone put themselves through so much emotional stress? Pointless...
Suddenly, Muskie felt his right ear twitch again and he found himself suddenly leaping into the air and clinging to a tree trunk. Of all the times, why here and why now? The hair ridged along his spine as he made a sideways glance at a rediculously large large black beetle that had been sitting in his path. The sound of its pinches clicking was what made his ear twitch.

"Why do they make them so... big?" he hissed, now feeling like an idiot. Despite this, he didn't dare let go of that tree. "It's not necessary... what's the point in them being so large?"

((Ahh... his weakness suddenly rears its ugly head. XP))
