[a][md][f][r][h] The Ganatoa Fighters By ObscuredDiamond More than one chapter
Name Pronunciations (in order) Lilica- Lil ick uh Risfu- Ris (as in wrist) fu Sanuk- Sa nook Gana- Gay na I hope you all enjoy this story! Ganatoa Fighters Part one: Prologue Moonlight slowly enveloped and illuminated the vapor soaked land as the sun bid its dues and left the twilight to watch over until it came time to again rise and shine radiantly once more. It seemed that nothing could disturb the orderly pattern while the people lay quietly in their beds, dreaming of untold secrets and bona fide ideas. A sudden rift in the peace began when a short and meek cry pierced the night, as a woman carrying a small bundle of blankets desperately sought a path leading into the dark and apocalyptic forest seeming incommodious to tread. A long hooded cloak shielded her entire boy and profile, with the exception of her slim muscle-lacking arms that grasped the bundle with all of her being. "Hush little one...Please..." She quietly beckoned to a now visible pair of green timid beady orbs from the safety of the bundle that quietly peered at the woman as she paced with an air of tension. "I won't let them hurt you...I promise." She murmured with a weak voice, trying to stay calm but found no avail as she glanced behind more than occasion with anxiety filled hazel eyes. The hope of escaping unnoticed died down quickly when the sound of not so distant voices quickly echoed through the country side with the effect of the woman to freeze upon hearing the awkward sounds at such a peaceful hour of the night. Turning around, she gasped to at the sight that awaited her. A rather large mob of at least thirty knights bearing the king's insignia marched in an ominous fast paced in pursuit. "No... Merciful gods....Please. Spare my baby...” She breathed in a fatigued motion, but despite her hastily sped to arrive in the forest's boundaries. Haphazardly she jolted in the bush and branches and the virulent air spewing from the forest's border, ignoring the fact that the soldiers gained twice as much speed as she did. "Just... through...the forest... They won't.....pursue us any longer.... They wouldn't dare...." Heaving a heavy breath hastily into her pain stricken lungs and a hoarse cough, she stood for a moment with shaking knees and aching bare feet, cut and blistered. Shifting her head to her front once more and forced her way through the wines and branches blocking hey way with all the strength she could muster, while grasping the token she so longly treasured close to her chest and even closer to her heart. "The wench fled into the forest! After her!" The shouts of the soldiers crept closer and closer like a lingering shadow as she slowly progressed to seeing small rays of welcoming moonlight seeping through the dark forest as if the gods had heard her plea and took action to assist. A breath of excitement escaped her lips a she rushed towards the light, ignoring the branches with thorns had caught the hood of her robe as well as her now visible long brunette hair and the pain that came after yanking her head as she raced to reach the other side of the forest. Not even caring how heavily scratched she became from the thickets and shrubs in her path. It seemed only instants away from having the freedom of being in the new land. But a hiss from the tree tops brought her mind crashing back as she found a long scaly serpent fall atop her head, causing her to freeze in her tracks once again. Without thinking, she reached her free slender hand and withdrew the snake and winced in great pain as it gave her a swift strike to the forearm. Chucking the black snake far away, she felt the spot began to turn sallow and numb itself out. Feeling on the brink of an eternal sleep, she gave one last push and found herself crashing to the ground and rolling out the boundaries and onto a large valley, almost reflecting the beauty of the land who clutches she had barely escaped. Somehow she had made it. She actually evaded the soldiers, or so she thought. Hearing the so close footsteps, she turned her head slightly to see the horrifying sight of the men leaking from the trees of the forest and turned to lamely crawl away, tears now streaming from her eyes. "No...please...no..." "So you think you could easily escape?" A snide yet handsome looking man with short raven colored hair and dark gold eyes approached her weak boy still lying on the ground. "You little worm. That's all you are. You and that disgrace. Now you're going to pay for your crimes against His Majesty." He casually rubbed a gold embroidered crest that clung to his metallic armor with pride as he spat at the woman. "How disgusting the thought of what the monster you hold is nothing more then a half breed." He glared intensively with a sadistic grin plastered on his face. "Now you'll be at the mercy of the gods to rot in hell!" Drawing his sword, he approached to woman licking his lips in delight as he got nearer and nearer to her, humored by the fact that she tried to crawl farther away while clutching the bundle. But the man stopped short of his target as the ground began to quiver and quickly turned to a violent chain of shaking as four large figures in the semi-distance revealed themselves and quickly closed in on the soldiers, towering over them in great height. At least ninety feet tall. "So how many times does this make for the pratty soldiers from that poor excuse of a kingdom to come into our land without permission Lilica?" A male's young toying voice came first of the four. "It seems like the fifth time only this month." "True. If I remember correctly Risfu, it' been at least seventy times this year so far, but I estimate them to come at least one hundred more times when the year ends." A more feminine voice sweetly mocking the soldiers followed the previous males voice as one the giants held its hand during the calculating. "After all, humans are so predictable." "Stay out of our business giants! This involves only our kind!" The snide man pointed his sword upward as he gave each figure a threatening pose, while his lackeys stood behind him in a more demeaning and fearful manner. "Talking so big are you?! Well I have news for you human. Leave or be skewered personally." Another older sounding male's voice tinted with a moved tone could easily identify as to who was now talking, the crossed armed figure that stood intimidatingly close to the soldiers and raised him large sword above them to how them that he meant his threat quite clearly. "Enough Sanuk. Listen clearly human. " The last voice to speak with also feminine but gave a sense of calm and wisdom with a sense of force. "You have the option of fighting a senseless battle and losing or leaving with your tails between your legs. I will not tolerate innocent blood spilled on my homeland. Besides there is no one to back you on your actions." She motioned to the cowardly group of the soldiers quickly fleeing back into the woods and vented a mocking laugh as the man dropped his sword and pursued his comrades. "You'll pay for this!" A last threatening yelled could be heard as the night slowly settle back to peace throughout the twilight covered land. "What do we do with that one?" The younger male, Risfu, lifted a hand and pointed a long, slim index finger to the woman and glanced back and forth to the others. "Obvious you dimwit. Not our problem. We let it die. End of story. " "Sanuk! We can't let her die. It's not right." "Yes Lilica. We can and will. Humans are nothing but trouble...." "Not all of them! You know that perfectly well." "Enough both of you. She's dead anyway. Are you blind?" The quiet woman swiftly lifted the corpse still clutching the bundle and gently laid her small fragile boy onto her palm and gave a disappointed sigh. "Oh...Gana..Look at her. Poor thing. She's all weak looking and scratched and pallid. She much have been bitten by a forest viper....But what's she holding?" The empathy and sadness in her voice suddenly lifted after curiously spying the bundle in her hand. Reaching out and gently tapping the blanket, she jumped back in surprise when a small cry seeped out and broke the quite night. Her eyes glittering in excitement after realizing the source of the noise and turned back in hope to the older shadowed woman. "Gana. We have to save the baby at least!" "Or we could simply kill it. I have my sword ready." Sanuk's voice easily told that he was eager to carry out the idea and almost swiped the bundle to perform the task. "No." Pulling her hand away from the man's sight, she shielded the woman's corpse and the bundle, "Lilica's right Sanuk. I'm taking it back with me to the headquarters and am plaining to raise this child. I think it is time we introduce humans to our cause. But before that, let's give the mother a proper burial." Ebony eyes casted upon the woman with a hint of wonder as the moonlight highlighted her now peaceful face and closed eyes and gave a dazzling effect to the brunette. "I'm sorry you lost your mother, little....."Pausing the giantess turned from her allies to gaze at the forest and a long distance castle that stood high on faraway mountains, even from her perspective, "Amira. One who never gives up."

Name Pronunciations Amira- uh meer uh Chapter One Despite the fact that we are different, we are a family. Don't let anyone ever take that away Amira. If more of the races were willing to accept our resolve, then Ziam would never be in such a deranged state.....Never forget that ......my daughter.....One hundred years. That's how long ago my mother told me that the humans and giants segregated themselves into the diverse regions of on opposite ends of Ziam because of a small dispute over the humans constantly invading the giants land. When I was about two or three, Mother introduced a guild of mercenaries questing to reunite humans and giants called The Ganatoa Fighters that became full of humans and giants alike longing for that same cause. I once asked her why she gave the mercenary that name, but only ever said one thing: "Amira, my name is Gana so it seems like a good choice." She is a strong and passionate woman, my mother, and that's why I'm proud to be her daughter (even though she's an eighty foot tall giantess and I'm just a human.) She holds our large team together and knows everything that could ever be known. With snowy silver hair, dazzling ebony eyes, and the looks of a goddess she attracted a lot of attention of giants and an occasional human. In the past that they often confessed the love they have for her, but she never once took any of their offers because of one thing only: me. "Amira!! Time to get up!" A distant yet loud voice called to me as I turned onto my side of my bed. Waiting for a moment, I slowly blinked my green eyes and let out a grunted yawn. "Ahhh.....Alright Lilica....I'll be down..." pausing, another quick yawn escaped my lips, "in a minute!!" I called back as loudly as I could, while climbing out of the bed and the toasty quilt. Stretching and resting my arms behind my back, I looked around my room lazily with contempt as the rays of the sun gave the small area a peaceful air. Eventually I decided that I had wasted too much time and quickly gathered fresh clothing and changed. After replacing my night clothing will my normal style of a leather vest, pants, and cape, I swiped my brush hidden under my pillow and quickly combed my messy birds nest of brunette hair. Staring at my reflection in my extremely large mirror while retraining my hair in a small bun, I quickly nodded my head in improvement and smiled. Falling down to the ground quickly, I moved one the wooden floor tile and snatched the contents sheltered; a slim, yet sturdy rope. Rising to my feet again, I swiftly double knotted the rope to the end of my bed's post and lead the rope to the oak door. Swinging the door open, I looked intently and excitedly at the ground twenty feet below, drawing a deep breath, and took one step forward. Closing my eyes, I gripped the rope steadily and pivoted my body to swing the rope and let go. "Amira!!" Feeling something soft and warm grasp my entire boy, I opened my eyes to see two giants hands encasing me while above me, a young feminine face with worried, yet angry ocean blue eyes and a speechless expression on her face. "What on earth were you trying to do?!" "Oh Lilica, you don't need to be so worried. I was just.... experimenting?" I pondered on the idea that I mot likely ployed the wrong choice of words for my explanation. "Experimenting? For goodness sake Amira! You're seventeen, not seven!" "Exactly. That's why I should be able to get in and out of my own room without help anymore." I motioned towards my newly built compartment plastered high on the wall crossing my arms in annoyance. Sighing, Lilica set me on a nearby oak table and ran a skeptical hand through her short blond hair. "Listen Amira. Gana sent me to wake you up. Perhaps you should discuss this with her. Alright?" "Yes Lilica." I said nothing more will giving the giantess a sincere smile, climbing back into her palm when she laid it flat on the table and slowly made her way to the conference room. Turning my head to look at her with appreciation. It was obvious as to why she was the only adviser of Mother. We couldn't do without Lilica; she has an unexplained sixth sense about things. There are such types like her in many places but one doesn't tend to understand that at first. Most mercenaries has one or maybe two thinkers with traits like hers, but Lilica is one of the most tactical and unique that I have the pleasure to even know. "Hey gorgeous!! Wait up hun!" A deeper voice called after the two of us as we passed through the hallways. Lilica made a one-hundred eighty degree turn, allowing me to see a slim and tall giant jogging to catch up. It was Risfu. His short dirty blond hair sparkled as the sun's rays flowed through the windows. His handsome face wrinkled as a huge smile became larger and larger after catching up. Focusing his ruby eyes on me for a moment, he raised his hand and placed his index finger on my head. Murmuring a cheery "Heya kiddo!" he chuckled after catching my annoyed glare an turned back to Lilica. "See you at the meeting hun." After giving her a short but affectionate peck on the cheek, he continued on jogging past us. Cocking an eyebrow at his silly actions, I couldn't help but to giggle at the man. Risfu was Lilica's opposite in every way. He was all brawns on the battle field and flinched at the sight of a challenging book. Despite the fact that they were engaged, you could never guess it. "That Risfu..." Lilica's voice quietly murmured while watching Risfu's figure disappear from sight. Upon arriving at the sight of the conference room, I felt my body freeze up in anxiety and nervousness. I couldn't really help this reaction. I felt something important would happen as soon as I had took a step inside. Gulping, I looked down in depression until Lilica's reassuring hand placed itself on my back. "Don't worry Amira." she whispered, "Just remember one thing. We're all a family in this mercenary." Giving her a weak nod, I waited for what felt like an eternity for her to knock upon the door and hear a reply. "Come in." Mother's stern yet gentle voice vented from the door, with Lilica obeying her orders and quickly entering the conference room. Placing me down onto the satin pillow set on the table between Mother and Sanuk's chairs, Lilica quickly made to her seat and sat contemptibly beside her fiance. "Took you long enough, you spoiled runt." Sanuk's mocking and intimidating voice sent tingles down my back as I felt his glare and hatred towards me intensify. Turning my head to slightly glance at him in fear, I quickly caught the inconvenient scowl of his silver eyes and looked back down in doubt. For as long as I could remember Sanuk always hated me for no apparent reason. He could always find a way to make me feel even smaller than a human was to giant. Why couldn't he find another hobby besides taunting me continually? I mean he was really handsome, with a sense of wit and a really mature face (but no way he was!) His black hair and red highlights only enhanced his looks. "What?!" His tone snarled with hatred as he tapped his fingers in impatience across the table. "Noth..Nothing Sanuk....." "Enough Sanuk." A calm and sweet voice relieved my tension as I gladly looked up to my mother's ebony eyes and gave her a affectionate smile. "I have some information to bring up. Any suggestions on last months files that I reported to you Lilica?" "Well......."

Chapter Two What troubles you, Amira?..............You want to go on a mission with Lilica and Risfu? You know you are too young. But don't fret my little one. When the time comes, you'll receive the chance to prove yourself. Though I don't eagerly await that day when you will be old enough to take part.................Remember to enjoy your youth while it lasts..............."After you asked me to review over the confined reports, a few weeks ago I secretly scouted to Idyllic Port just forty or so miles to the northwest." Looking over to Lilica with a strong sense of curiosity, I suddenly realized that she had mysteriously disappeared around that time and gave only gave that she had gone for supplies as an excuse. "The humans' port?! Why bother wasting your time with those useless, pathetic pests?" Sanuk's disgusted tone broke my train of thought as I saw Risfu and Lilica turning their attention to him with a synced ' grow-up' look. But before either of them said anything to him, they casted a glance to Mother and waited patiently. "Sanuk, maybe you should visit Idyllic, because the last time I checked (not to long ago I remind you) humans and giants live together. That's why it's become an invaluable income source to our cause. Any other fact I should help you set straight while we're on that matter Sanuk?" Mother lectured him so casually it was like she could have been talking about something as insignificant as the weather. But on the other hand, her tone also spewed with slight anger at his comment. "No....captain." Sanuk hissed back with hurt dignity, saying nothing more. I think by that time, everyone had the same feeling to drop the subject and go back to the discussion "I'll continue on." Lilica swiftly cut in and retrieved a slim stack of parchment from the table's top, passing it over the Risfu. "The complaints were accurately confirmed. The neighbooring Snogard have gained more gutsy and provocative by invading the farmers' land and stealing livestock. They've also killed an occasional civilian, human and giant alike." "Sno..gard?" I hesitantly asked, looking to Lilica with a bit of embarrassment. Hearing a rather loud snarl of annoyance from Sanuk, I expected him to add his unneeded two sense in but fortunately he never did. "They're also know as dracos, but Snogard in a more common name. Here's a sketch I quickly made after spotting one in the area. It absconded after catching scent of me though." Lilica separated one sheet from the stack and withdrew it. Handing it over the table, Mother's hand grasped it and stood the sheet in front of me so not I, but she as well could view it, I assumed. It was so detailed in every aspect. The creature was lizard-like except it had two great wings and two horns atop its head and sharp looking claws. Judging by the details, I think it was safe to say that the skin was scaly. Looking at the eyes of the Snogard, I felt my body shiver intensely with fear. If it was this horrid looking by just a sketch then I didn't really look forward to meeting a real one...... "Excellent Lilica. I wasn't aware that you were the artist type." Mother quietly complimented after handing the parchment back to her. "It was more for knowledge of the creature then anything else, Captain." It was obvious that Lilica's face grew red with embarrassments as she tried to hide it with her over modesty. "Yes. This is very troubling matter. Snogard have been peaceful creatures over the years, but if they are willing to tred, none the less, attack inhabitants of other races." Pausing for a moment, Mother vented a hesitant sigh, while rubbing her temples. "Lilica, you, Risfu, and....."I laid my head in sadness. She would pick Sanuk to go with them as always. I know she will. Every time I ever asked her if I could go on a mission, even just a small one, I was immediately declined and waited in loneliness for Lilica to come back, "Amira. I want you three to go to Idyllic and stop the Snogard. Even if it takes force." My mouth hanging open, I turned to Mother and stared at her in disbelief. I thought that maybe she had made a mistake and meant accidentally meant Sanuk. I mean all this time after hearing no who could blame me? "Something troubles you Amira?" Raising her eyebrow, a smile slowly crept upon on Mother's face as I tried to find the right word to respond, "You are very shocked I see. But I think it's time that you departed on you mission....No lead a mission. Do me proud of my choice Amira but stay safe. Understand?" "Yes 'mam!" I eagerly jumped to my feet and gave her a respectful, yet sprightly salute. But to my surprise, at the very same moment Sanuk leaped from his chair and slammed his fists onto the table. The table shaking greatly after, I could only help but to fall back onto the pillow. "Are you kidding me Gana?! You can't possibly be serious by sending this....this....inexperienced, pampered, little know it all, ignorant, and most of all useless brat into a mission like this!" "Really Sanuk? If you are so worried, then why don't you accompany her as well? I'm sure Amira would love pointers from you as to how the job is done right, since you believe to be more experienced and high and mighty as well." Lilica, Risfu, and I exchanged glances as Sanuk's face grew deeper with anger and hatred while facing Mother. His eyes etched a killing look as I felt his eyes pierce me with an invisible barrage of arrows. Turning himself away, I could see his figure depart after snatching his sheathed sword. Feeling guilty, I sighed and looked down to the pillow while crossing my arms over my knees. "Don't listen to him Amira. We all know that he wants your mother's position leading the mercenary. All he's trying to do is pressure you to back down." Lilica desperately tried to reassure me as she sent me a sympathetic smile. "Ya. And don't forget we'll be with you during the mission kiddo, ya know?" Risfu added on while rising out of his chair. Stretching his arms behind his back, he casted me a truthful wink and a thumbs up before retrieving his spear that lounged on the nearby wall. "So let's go hunt us a Snogard who's been very bad!"

Chapter Three Everyone is scared of one thing or another Amira ........But if we are to ever understand others, we must first take an understanding as to why we have erratic fears in life......If a person is willing to help shake another of their fear and grow strong, then I think their fears will also become less burdening........ Be that person Amira. Help the humans understand giants and the giants to understand humans. Heaving a great sigh, I glanced nervously one last time back at the large mercenary fort as Lilica, Risfu, Sanuk, and I slowly made distance away. Even though Lilica was kind enough to volunteer to let me ride on her shoulder, I still felt very guilty about the whole ordeal. Why did Mother have to assign Sanuk to the mission knowing how he hated me so passionately? If I failed this mission, I just know that he would never let me live down. I slowly brought my hands to my face and shook my head with great stress. During most of the journey I listened to Lilica slightly argue with Risfu as they discussed whether or not it was the right decision for Mother to assign me the mission's leader. "Risfu. Have you even seen a Snogard? They are frightening creatures I remind you. I couldn't help but imagine how Amira would react to one." "Nah, Amira....uh er....Boss, ya? Anyway I bet she wouldn't back down from one even though she's small, ya know? After all she's Gana's spawn and all." "Risfu, remind me to not have any children. I think you would let them do all kinds of dangerous stunts." "Oi! That's a bit cruel, ya know! Boss! Tell her she's crazy, ya?!" "Oh...um...Yeah." I meekly answered, looking up from my train of thought. I could sense that the pair turned to me with worried looks on their faces. "Amira? Are you alright?" Lilica asked immediately, giving me no time to even think of another reply. "Ya Boss. What's wrong kiddo? If you're worried about that Snogard, I'll skewer it on sight, ya know!" Raising his now sharpened and glistening spear above with his left hand and his right hand to his heart, he casted a reassuring wink to me while walking beside Lilica. "Ha ha ha. Risfu you nut." I couldn't help but to laugh at the big clown. I don't think anyone couldn't resist a laugh at him and his foreign goofiness. Mother once told me that a while before I was born, Risfu came over to Idyllic Port on an immigration boat to get a new refreshed life, from his previous one on the L'ivaka Province. He spoke in the L'ivakaian tongue after first arriving, but rapidly learned Ziaman due to Lilica and Mother (who still knew each other even that long ago.) But despite that, he says ' ya' and ' ya know' within almost every sentence. "That's all right Risfu. It's not the Snogard I'm worried about. It's just....." I paused, glancing slightly at Sanuk as he languorously followed far behind us. "Ya know kiddo, you worry to much about what Sanuk says, ya? Do you think he gives a dime about what other people think about him?" "Not really...." I answered looking forward once again. "Then there you go, ya? If you let other people worry you too much, then you'll never take time to worry about yourself, ya know?" "Risfu's right Amira. But don't worry. You have us to watch over you as long as you need." Lilica added in, patting me on the head at the same time. "Thanks you two." The time passed by a lot quicker then I had expected, but the scenery hadn't really changed that much at all. It was basically the same hills and plains that only differed from the fact they were covered with an occasional tree here and there. But I felt a strange breeze sweep over me as I saw an ominous air spewing from the nearby forest border that I only spotted. Even though the sun shone brightly, the forest was black as ebony and gave an unnaturally deathly appearance. "I see you spotted the Cursed Forest Amira, ya? But don't ever wander into the forest just because of curiosity. No one's ever made it through alive ya know?" "What Risfu means Amira, is to never go through the forest. It has its name for a reason." "Oh?" I turned to her, raising an eyebrow. But neither of them said anything and only gazed at each other with hesitant looks. I wanted to know more about why they both seemed reluctant to say anything more. What about the forest could have made the discussion be so bad? Waiting a few moments for just a small notion, I fractiously crossed my arms in annoyance and vented an annoyed sigh. Even though I could order them to tell me with my newly received status, it was probably for good reasons that they didn't say anything. "Oh would you look at that! I didn't realize how close we are to Idyllic already." I quickly spouted, deciding to change the subject. Despite the fact that I only used that as an excuse, I was over excited and eager to reach Idyllic, as seeing that it would be the first place I ever visited in my life. The view was magnificent, even though we were a little distance away from the territory. I couldn't believe that this was the same place that Lilica described to me all those times that she visited. I didn't see it as a boring, same old historic city, but instead as a bustling, thriving town. Glistening in the sun as the civlians, humans and giants alike, hustled on with their daily life. I wonder what this new town would be like. "So boss. You got in mind what we do first, ya?" Risfu voice once again interrupted me as I gazed with envy at the new sight. "Hm?" I snapped my head up and turned to face him. "Maybe scout out the Snogard or go talk to the villagers or something, ya know? What do you want us to do first?" Opps. That was something that never came to mind during the whole hour or so trip. Maybe it would be better to go into to town and ask around for any information, but then again another innocent person could be hurt. I knew making a decision like the one I had in mind would be suicide, but it was worth it. "I think we should go in pairs." I finally answered after making the two patiently. "Great idea, ya? Alright I can guess who you want to go with, ya know? You and Lilica. Right boss?" "Actually...." "You can see it in her face Risfu. She wants to go with you dear." Lilica argued back to him, with a great urgent tone in her voice. "Well...I..Actually I have decided to go with Sanuk.." I blurted out. I couldn't blame either of the two for giving me such blank stares that rapidly changed to skeptical ones. "Amira...." Lilica slowly replied while giving me a worried look as I crossed my arms, trying to hide my doubt. "Don't worry Lilica. I'll be fine. I want you two to head to town and find out as much information as you can Snogard. Don't let me down guys." "We might as well listen to her Lilica, ya? It's an order, ya know?" "....Risfu............Oh alright. You win Amira. But please be careful. If you do find the Snogard, let Sanuk handle it. And you!" Lilica turned threatingly toward Sanuk as he just caught up to us three and most likely ha no idea as to what was going on. "If you let anything and I mean anything happen to Amira, so help me I'll personally see that whatever happens to her, happens to you ten-fold. Understand Sanuk?!" It was ten minutes after the two had left to Idyllic that I had missed them the most. Even though Risfu explained the situation to him, Sanuk still raised hell like expected of him. I looked away after seeing the silver eyes narrowing their anger towards me. Almost jumping in surprise when two giant fingers grasped the back of my shirt and jerked me upwards. "You think you're being cute don't you?!" Sanuk's voice hissed with more hatred then I had ever felt before. I had a feeling that I was only inches away from Sanuk's face. "Well let me tell you something, you little ingrate!" He yelled angrily grasping his hand around my body, now squeezing the life out of me. "Don't ever think I'll accept you! If it wasn't for Gana, then you'd be nothing!"Exhaling angry huffs of air, Sanuk lowered me to about ten feet above the ground and hastily dropped me. "Don't try to follow me! I don't care if Gana assigned you leader or not!" I saw from the corner of my eye his stomping figure head towards Idyllic, not even casting one last back glance. Sitting up, I felt my burn in agony as tears began to flow freely; not even bothering to wipe them. No one could really blame me though I suppose, right? But it was my fault. I willfully picked Sanuk, knowing how he would react. Why was I so stupid then and still do it?! In the distance I heard a very loud sound of flapping, which seemed very odd. I hesitantly rose to my feet and looked around instinctively. At first, I thought that maybe my ears were playing. But an immediately rapture on the ground caused me the fall backwards. Looking around once more, I gasped in fear to what awaited my sight. I couldn't move my body at all. Looking the creature up and down, I saw the two wings and horns and claws from Lilica's drawing. The scales on the beast glistened black as night from the sun; a long tail whipped back and forth and flesh piercing teeth reared out at me. Looking up at the Snogard's yellow eyes, I couldn't help but to feel helpless. Feeling my ears roll back into my head, my body fell backwards on the ground as my vision fade away.

Name Pronunciations Regjis- Reg (as in leg just with an r) jis (as in jist) Chapter Four Trust is one of the strongest foundations that binds the mercenary Amira..........You don't understand? It's simple if you really ponder on the thought. What if Lilica lied to Risfu about loving him?...................Yes, I also think he would be hurt. If our teammates didn't put their faith into my actions as the commander, then the mercenary would slowly crumble into nothing but ruins...........Of course I don't ever want that to happen. So let's put our trust with our friends and stand together Amira. "I'll never accept you!...inexperienced...... ignorant......useless......" Sanuk's angered words were the only unwanted companion that lingered on as I slept for who knows how long. ".....a............" The blow from the ground must have knocked me out hard. Even though I could no longer feel the hard cold, earth I never once twitched in surprise when I subconsciously felt someone gently shake me and jerk me from me unpleasant dreaming but kept calling me in a hushed tone.".....wa........p......." "ey.....wak.....p......." What? What did this voice want from me? Wake up? Why was it trying to get me to wake up? "Five more minutes........." I hazily mumbled, while turning over onto my left side of the straw bedding. Straw? Slowly opening my eyes, the first thing I could see were strands of my hair lying stop my face, partially blocking my view. After brushing them out of the way, I sat up and felt through the straw. Looking around, the only thing visible was vast amounts stalagmites and stalactites randomly spaced out. Lilica once told me that the only place to find them was to journey deep within a hallow cave, so logically I must be in a cave. "Sheesh. You humans are lazy ones aren't you?" A deep and blank voice vented inches behind me and a suddenly grab on the shoulder caused me to instinctively grab the wrist of the hands owner and flip the body over my shoulder. "Ek! What's wrong with you? Is that a way your kind greet each other?" I stared in keen surprise at the figure now lying in front of me, face up. Though he wore a thin robe and a loose turban that clung from his head and neck, one could plainly see that he was built with a masculine form. Glistening orange eyes stared up at me with a sense of awkwardness and yet humor and pointed ears, perked at an angle, twitched in a new direction every few seconds. "Oh...I'm sorry! I was just......." I hastily blurted at him, whilst he swiftly rose from his spot, slightly dusting himself off. "Surprised? Don't worry about it!" He placed his hand on my shoulder while leaning his head back and letting out a rather childish chuckle "Hahaha. I guess it's payback for scaring you like that earlier. Sorry about that by the way." "Eh....?" I tossed him a blank stare, glancing at his orange eyes with a confounded look in my own. I don't think I've ever met him before. I mean I would remember meeting someone as interesting as him right? "You silly girl!" Moving his hand from my shoulder to the top of my head and patting for a few moments, again he let his distinguished laugh run free a moments before restricting it once more. "Don't tell me you forgot about me already. Come on, it was only a mere length ago!" He gave a sympathetic (more like annoyed) sigh and placed his right and on his chin. "My dashing ebony scales and cream eyes......Not to mention my handsome wings and glossy horns! Ring a bell?" "Wait a second.....No it can't be......." I backed away in slight realization of what exactly he was talking about. "You're the Snogard that keeps attacking the village, aren't you?!" "Yes. I am. Exciting, isn't it?" He responded with an eager tone, taking a step forward as I took one back. "Don't you even care about the innocent people you're hurting?" "They started it. They attacked me while I was hurt. I merely defended myself." "What do you mean?" I hesitantly asked, pretending to stare at him while actually looking behind him for a way out of the cave. "When a person leaves their home land to explore other regions, they're called emigrants. Yes. I suppose I would be called that. I left my contra called Dragovia, merely looking for knowledge, and when I was injured by a savage storm, I took refuge in this very cave. But they found me and labeled me as a monster." At that point I saw him slowly ball his hands into fists, his eyes glancing to the ground; quivering. "I suppose you can't quite understand my plight though can you? They don't really care how many more of their own are lost until I'm gone." "Actually...." I began, giving the man a few moments to draw in a few deep breaths. "I really understand what you mean when you talk about being labeled, I really do....You see I grew up with giants all of my life in my mother's mercenary. All the time I've heard about humans who call giants brainless oafs and ruthless barbarians. But they're wrong. I would never trade away the friendship and love I have for my friends, no matter what gaps of diversity I face in the future." Minutes of silence slowly scraped by as we solemnly and bleakly gazed one at the other, eye to eye.I suddenly felt the urge to cheer him up in anyway possible, despite the fact that it probably be that comforting. "My name's Amira." I brightly mused, taken slightly back only by his awkward glance. "So?" He coolly returned. "Umm...What's your name?" "...hmph." This was getting us nowhere. I had to get back to Idyllic and meet up with Lilica and Risfu....How could i get him to cooperate with me if he wouldn't even tell me his name? Maybe if I could lure him into my trust, things would work out for the better. "Would you like a new place to rest? Far away from Idyllic?" He turned to face me once again, a raised eyebrow and once again perked, twitching ears. "Yeah. Remember I told you about my Mother's mercenary? Well I'm sure we more then enough space for you to stay until you got better, then you could go on your way. But first we have to go back to Idyllic Port and find my friends who are waiting for me. Just promise not to hurt anyone else while we're there. So what do you say?" I smiled serenely to him as he looked deep in thought with my compromise. "Very well....I'll give it a shot...." He slowly answered back. "Just let me gather some trivial mementos I have. Then we'll be on our way." "Fantastic." I waited patiently on the straw padding as he gathered some unseen items for numerous places of the cave. With the only explanation "Herbs and whatnot...." that he gave, I could only guess what he really meant. "Erehw did yeht og? I decalp meht tghir ereh........." I heard him mumble a short amount of time later. Pondering on the strange talking, I thought at first that maybe I misheard him but jumped when he suddenly stood behind me; a large knapsack full of foreign items. "My native tongue." He quietly said while nodding his head in an agreeable manner. "So I guess we can leave now. Right?" I hastily rose to my feet and dust the few pieces of straw that stubbornly clung to my clothing. Turning to him, I saw a quick nod of his head. Smiling in relief after waiting so long, I excitedly began to stride ahead of him. "Regjis...." "Huh?" I stopped in my tracks and turned back to him. "My name. It's Regjis." Staring at him for a few moments unsure of what to do, I quickly decided to walk back to Regjis and grab his hand in a friendly gesture and began to shake it. "What are you doing?" He hesitantly asked, his eyes never leaving my hands for any moment. "It's how we say hello Regjis. You asked earlier. Remember?" "So I did." After standing in his place for a moment, a slow and small cackle venting for Regjis's suddenly erupted to the same howls of humor prior. I couldn't help but to laugh at Regjis's rather gloomy attitude that bloomed into the old cheery one. "You are a weird one, aren't you? Are you sure you weren't dropped on your head at birth?" "You're the one to talk Regjis. I'm just very trusting of people I suppose. That's all really."

Chapter Five Amira, how much do you care about other people? Do you value friendship strongly?..................I know you don't really have any friends around your age except Ronald and Raymund, but in the future if you stay the way you are......then I know you'll befriend many people who will admire you.................Yes Amira, humans and giants."Um....Amira? Maybe I shouldn't go into the town. I'll stay right here." Turning towards to Regjis for a moment, I tilted my head in question as he slowly sat on top the bare earth, crossing his legs. I suppose that he must have felt very guilty and cautious about going anywhere near Idyllic. "Besides, if the town’s people saw me with you, then who knows what would happen to your mercenary's reputation..." His eyes slowly quivered as he looked sadly to the grass, fidgeting with one long strand near his feet. "So take your time and find your friends. I'm sure they're worried about you! It's really obvious why they would be." He shifted his head back to me with a large smile on his face. "Regjis....." Sighing, I inched my way to him and sat to his right; looking far ahead of me to Idyllic. "Do you feel like you're in the wrong? But you aren't. Don't be scared. I think that if you apologize to the Council and vice versa, then maybe Idyllic will forget this whole incident ever happened." With that I hastily grabbed his wrist and stood up, pulling him along with me. At first he resisted and yanked his hand out of my reach, but instead of going after Regjis's arm I swiped at his arm and captured it in an embrace. "Hey! Let go!" He at first froze in shock of the embrace and a little embarrassed, but he frantically tried to yank away once again after a few moments. "Not until you promise to come! Besides what if something happened to a pretty lady like me? You wouldn't let one go by herself in such a dangerous place, would you?!" "You're not acting like one! So let go Amira!" Seemingly with all of his strength, he finally freed his arm and snatched it back but in the process we both payed the price by falling backwards. I stumbled a few inches until my left foot was caught in a small rabbit hole. I definitely felt the pain of my ankle being most likely twisted as I fell onto the ground face up. Flinching in pain, I slowly pulled my leg upwards from the hole and placed back onto even ground. "Amira!" Regjis's voice called in shock as I could his figure rise from the earth and rush to me, kneeling by my side. "Are you alright?! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to....." He pleaded with a strong sense of guilt that could easily be heard. "I'm fine Regjis." I calmly and sweetly replied while placing an arm on his right shoulder. "Just a twisted ankle and a few scratches. But I don't think I'll be able to walk for a while. So you can carry me! it's not that much farther. We've already walked a far way from that cave." "What?! It's your fault that you have a twisted ankle. Why should I carry you?" "..........Please?" I slowly looked into his eyes using the oldest trick in the book; the puppy dog face and eyes. Lilica and Risfu always told me that I had a face that could break down even the stubbornness of men. Even Mother couldn't say no to me every now and then. "Urgh....I.....Stop looking at me like that!!................Grrr... fine! You win Amira. Get on." He hastily turned his back to me and now waited for me. Raising to my knees, I inched towards Regjis and wrapped my arm around his neck as he grabbed my legs and held each under his arms. At first I found it odd that he could easily stand up without hesitation with me clinging to his back. I quickly decided that he must be really strong and left it at that. "Thanks Regjis." I giggled slightly as he mumbled while slowly trotting the plains. Glancing at his face from my view, I could see his eyebrow twitch and his face flood in embarrassment. "So what's your countries name?" I quickly asked after a few moments had passed. Even though he had walked for maybe an hour now, it seemed that Idyllic was still the same distance away. "Dagrovia." "What's it like there?" "Um...I guess kind of like it has here on Ziam, but we tend to follow lifestyles based on prophesies. Like our most recent one, The Maiden." "The....Maiden?" I turned to face the back of his head, my curiosity well beyond peaking. "I suppose we have time for a small story." Regjis mumbled to himself before turning his attention back to me. "It goes something like this: The Maiden born from two kinds, the savior of the humanity. She will wash the sorrow and fighting from the lands and despite her birthright, ironically reunite those separated by diversity. When she finishes her duty, she will depart from the land and leave the world." "So who's the Maiden, Regjis?" "I honestly don't believe the so called "prophecy" myself. The Dagrovian seers foretold that over a hundred years ago, before the humans and giants segregated themselves from each other. It's just a children's story really." I couldn't find myself to side with Regjis's logic. I mean the story was just too seductive in a way. It made complete sense didn't it? There had to be a way to get the humans and the giants to come back together and if this Maiden was alive and I sought her out, then just maybe that would be the first step. "So what if it was? Who do you think she would be?" "I don't know Amira....Maybe royalty?" "Oh.....Well never mind! There's Idyllic." After what seemed like forever, we finally arrived to the gates of Idyllic as I had said. With a great sense of relief, I eagerly looked forward to meeting up with Lilica, Risfu, and even Sanuk, even though I can't really say I forgave him for what he did. But if he hadn't so coldly abandoned me, then I most likely would not have met Regjis. How the cogs of fate turn....... "Let's go find Lilica and Risfu, Regjis!" "Calm down!! You're....choking me!" He hoarsely called to me as I unintentionally wrapped my arms further around his neck in anticipation. "Opps! Sorry!" "What's going on? A large crowd of humans and giants are gathering in front of that pub...." Regjis was right. Half of the entire town must have been crowded in front of the giant brick building. Every few seconds an ear piercing crash could be heard of something either being thrown or broken. "Oi! Let me in, you lingering buzzards! You shouldn't condone this junk, ya know! So move it, ya!" As soon as I heard the familiar voice, I jerked my head up and smiled as I saw Risfu's figure trying to push his way through the crowd. Unable to achieve his goal, he angrily threw his hands in the air, cursed in L'ivakaian and stomped his way towards us. "Risfu!" I called in the loudest voice I could. Looking up, I saw him stop walking and glance hastily around and eventually laid his eyes upon the pair of us. Without hesitation, he approached us and knelt before us. "Amira! You're alright, ya? What happened to you?! Who's your friend?" "I'll explain after we find Lilica. Where is she by the way Risfu?" "That's the thing kiddo...." Risfu turned his head in slight worry towards the pub and vented a short sigh. Flinching when another loud crash echoed from inside, he turned back to us. "Damn it! I warned you to watch her Sanuk!" A rather loud and familiar eerie shriek escaped right after the crash. I couldn't believe as to whose it was though. Lilica..... I let out a small gasp an looked to Risfu in disbelief "Uh oh...." "You said it kiddo, ya? When Lilica went into the pub and found Sanuk tipsy, she asked where you were and well it didn't turn out pretty, ya know. She kept her promise alright and is still at it."

Name Pronunciations Lulani loo lon ee (as in eep) Chapter Six Always doing the right thing isn't easy Amira. Sometimes even I regret the decisions I make...........Sometimes I wish that I could change the past. I hope you'll understand that everything I've done was to protect you, even though you may doubt that in a later time. But when all the truth is revealed.........................I hope........... I really wished Mother was with me at that very moment. What could I do to stop Lilica, nonetheless get through the overcrowded entrance of the pub? Now I see why Mother didn't want me to go on an assignment until she thought I was ready. Why did it have to be my first one? How unfair...... After staring at the crowd again with a look of uncertainty, I heaved a great, disappointed sigh. While my head fell to the ground in a depressed motion. But snapped upwards again after hearing a worried, "Amira?" from Risfu and Regjis's unified voices. "I..I'm fine." I don't really know why I fibbed. Maybe it was because instinctively, I knew what my first priorities were and how we needed to stop this before anyone got hurt. "We need to find a way inside. Risfu, are there any other entrances, that you know of?" "Well, I think there's a way through the back alley, ya. But it's a human route. So I was kinda waiting for you to see if you could get through, ya know?" "Oh. I think that will be perfect. Thanks Risfu. Regjis, do you mind to..." I turned my attention to the Snogard, hastily asking him if he cared to let me ride on his back a little longer, only to be cut off by him. "Well I have to. How else can you walk? You know you didn't need to ask Amira. I would have, even if you didn't want me to..." He immediately answered, turning his face backwards slightly to face me. "Regjis...." I stared at the ground in shock and embarrassment, thinking that I might have misheard him. No. He said it clearly, yet I couldn't put the words into my understanding. Hearing a loud snicker from Risfu we looked to him and stared in embarrassment, as he had a large and unexpected smile glued to his face. "I can see what's going on. Heheh. Looks like I can't call you kiddo anymore Amira." "What are you implying Risfu?!" I asked in a somewhat annoyed tone. "Ah being a bit defensive, ya know? Reminds me of when Lilica and I first......Oh never mind!! Well make sure you get into the alley, ya?" With that, he tossed me a wink, whistled a short tune, and turned back to the crowd, leaving the two of us bewildered. "Eh....Let's go Regjis..." I hesitantly muttered, still feeling my face flushed red. "Yeah...Good idea...." Judging by his tone, Regjis most likely didn't mean for his earlier comment to come out the way it did. Clearing his throat, he took off at a steady pace. "Risfu said it's immediately to the left of the bar." "My left or your right?" "Umm....." I stopped, my voice trailing behind us. Risfu was never too good at giving directions. "I think we're lost....." "What? How could we......Where are we?!" Regjis glanced around the area hastily, letting out an aggravated growl. "Hmph!" He stood motionless, waiting for me to say something mot likely. "Hello...." An eerie yet friendly voice called behind us. The owner of the voice appeared to the front of Regjis, and stood vacantly; a human. His hair was long and silver and sparkled beautifully in the sunlight. Warm crimson eyes and a youthful face fixed on the two of us with interest. He wore leather robing and carried a small sack over his shoulder. "May I ask what two youthful teenagers, such as yourselves would be doing in a gloomy alley such as this? The day is young! Why waste it?" He paused and raised an eyebrow after looking from Regjis to me. "Oh I understand quite well. Shame on you two! Oh how my heart is tortured!! Oh great Shepherds, spare these two ignorant sheep for the intercourse they wish to committ!" The man clasped his hands together and let out rather loud prayer. "What?!" Regjis and I shouted skeptically. Of all the people. A man of the book... We just had to run into that kind of man. As if we weren't stressed enough. I thought, venting a short sigh. "You misunderstand Sir. It's not what you think. We're just trying to get into the pub to break up a fight. But since I twisted my ankle, it's taking longer. Not to mention we're lost.." "Oh...That relieves me so young miss. Nowadays too many of the youth act so disrespectful. That is why I, Lulani, sought to become a follower of all the great Gods' words. But I have a feeling that you need my assistance at the moment. I think I can help relieve you of being unable to walk." "You can? That would be really appreciated!" I eagerly blurted at the man and smiled greatly. "Yes. Just a moment young miss." He chuckled and calmly drew the sack to his front and reached inside. "Regjis. I think we can trust him. Set me on the ground" I faced the back of Regjis's head and gave him a slight nudge with my knee. "Alright. But if you try anything funny, Lulani was it?, then you'll regret it! I'll see to it!"Regjis snarled and faced to the man, while kneeling down, allowing me to climb off of his back and the sit on the ground. "Have no worry young Snogard. I assure you as a Brother that no harm will come upon your dear friend." Lulani murmured while still digging through his sack. "What? How did you....." Regjis slowly began, with a tone of shock and worry at the same moment. "I have traveled around to many locations not only on Ziam, but I have also visited L'ivaka and Dagrovia. So do not fret. Your characteristics stand out very clearly to me. Ah! Here it is!" He called with a sense of victory, raising his hand that clenched a small pouch into the air. Lulani slowly walked to me and knelt by my left side and placed a hand on my ankle. "Is it that one?" He asked, facing me once again. I hastily nodded and watched him with slight anticipation. "Very well. Just a few moments......How rude of me! I gave you my name, but never thought to ask you yours! Forgive me!" "Oh! It's no trouble Lulani. My name is Amira. I'm the daughter of Gana, of the Ganatoa Fighters! How do you do?" I held out my hand for him to shake, but flinched in embarrassment when he took my hand and kissed the top of it. I felt my face flush once more after catching his eyes. I glanced over with worry at Regjis, who bore a furious look of hate and jealousy; his face twitching and flushed in anger. "I am honored to meet you, Lady Amira. Just wait a moment and I will have your lovely ankle working again." He opened the pouch and sprinkled some strange looking powder onto my ankle and began to chant. "O gods above....Hear my plea and heal this young sheep's wound. Allow her to walk once more." Suddenly, the powder began to glow golden. The pain my ankle had slowly diminished and disappeared. I sat in amazement at the skills of Lulani and slowly stood up. I couldn't believe how incredible my ankle felt now. I even hopped on it for a few seconds. "Lulani! Incredible! My ankle is as good as new! Thank you so much!" I excitedly ran to the man as he stood up and gave him an appreciative embrace. "It is nothing. Really Milady!" He patted my shoulder sincerely and gave a slight chuckle. "I can show you the back way through the alley to the pub. Is that alright?" "Of course!"

Chapter Seven Amira? Are you upset because you think you failed your training session?....................I see.....Amira. Let us talk for a while......Amira, let me ask you something. If a man does his best, what else is there? Perhaps, you should not always try your hardest at every single detail and focus on the larger parts in your work. Remember that determination is different then overworking yourself. I will always be proud of you as my daughter, Amira. Just promise me that you'll never give up. "Allow me to guide you to your destination Milady!" Lulani sprightly turned to me and grabbed my wrist in a graceful manner. "No!! I couldn't possibly ask anymore from....." I hesitated while trying to pull my arm free. "I insist...Please......It's no trouble......Amira...." He sweetly turned to me and gave a warm, yet hexing smile; crimson eyes rested upon me. I could do nothing as I felt my eyes in return look to them, yearning for the orbs to acknowledge them. His eyes were very....relaxing...My body began to feel as light as a feather and it seemed that all of my tension was melting away. It felt as if a kind person had wrapped me in a cozy bed of fluff. Suddenly the scenery began to melt away and only darkness remained; those eyes were the only light that could be seen. Everything else was....gone... "Amira?" Whose voice was it? It was the same one that was very caring and concerned. It seemed like the owner was trying to warn me. But what? "Amira!" He called again. He? Who is he? The voice was familiar, but I couldn't remember. "Amira!! It's me Regjis! You have to fight this!" "Reg.......jis....." I tediously allowed the name to come pass out of my mouth. "That's right......I remember now........ Regjis is a Snogard but he can take the form of a human. But he's not bad...I really like being around him.....He makes me feel safe....." I closed my eyes for what seemed like minute, and felt a warmness inside my chest slowly bloom as Regjis's image came to mind. It gave more comfort then the crimson eyes could offer. Opening my eyes once more, I stared very much in shock as the alley had returned and now Lulani stood in front of me and Regjis at my side. Was I hallucinating about a trance? The two were acting like nothing had happened just moments ago. Maybe I was still sleepy. But then again....it seemed like Regjis was there with me... "I told you, you fraud priest, Amira doesn't want you to touch her!" Regjis's defensive voice pulled my thoughts together again. With an enraged look on his face, he clawed at Lulani's hand that still gripped my wrist and yanked him away from me; pulling his face inches away from his. "Fi er'uoy os suoixna ot dloh sdnah, neht dloh enim! Uoy dratsab! Won ezigolopa!" Apparently Lulani was fluent in Regjis's language and understood the message, because for a moment he wore a look of worry before turning back to me. "Forgive me Amira. I did not mean to make you feel uncomfortable." I smiled with a sense of relief after hearing Lulani and mouthed 'thank you' to Regjis the instant his back was turned. "It's alright Lulani...." I answered with a reassuring tone. I wasn't really upset, but it didn't hurt to have someone like Regjis around in case he tried his sham again. "Let's go to the pub. You said you knew the way?" "Ah. I did. Come! It is not to far away." Something seemed strange about Lulani. He wasn't as eager as when we first met him; quietly pacing about fifteen feet ahead of us. And he wasn't preaching about what his life was as a 'man of the book.'"Hey Regjis...."I whispered out of Lulani's range to the man lingering closely to me now then before like a shadow. His orange eyes glared angrily ahead, watching the priest's every move. "Did anything happen a few moments ago? Like I may have seemed out of it or something?" "What are you talking about? Are you hallucinating? Or was it that powder?! I knew it! That priest....." "Regjis! Calm down! I'm fine! Honest. I just imagined it most likely. Besides Lulani isn't a bad person." "Now you're just sounding delusional. Do you have a fever?" Regjis casted a demanding glance and raised the back of his hand to my forehead. "Yep. I thought so. You should rest when we get back to your mercenary." "Really? I didn't know I felt that hot...." I mirrored his movements and felt my own forehead in curiosity. "I guess I do have a fever...but how did I get sick so fast I wonder." "I can tell you who rather then how." I raised an eyebrow at Regjis's comment as I saw him raise his left forearm and extend his index finger while drawing his others back into a fist. I vented a rather disgruntled sigh and notioned my head in an annoyed manner. How did Regjis find a way to tie Lulani into an irrelevant conversation? "Aren't you being a bit defensive Regjis? I mean I bet you would blame Lulani for the end of the world right?" "Now that you mention it...." He mockingly blurted while placing his hand on his chin; as if stroking an imaginary beard. "Urgh! I can't believe you!!" I shouted in minor fury at the Snogard. Why was he being so difficult about Lulani?! When I asked Lilica once why Risfu didn't like other men being around her, she simply said 'Men are very territorial. They always feel intimidated when another man hits on what they think is their own." "We're here Amira." Lulani's sudden call and beckoning motions lead the two of us to a large, metal human sized door. Above the door clung a wooden sign that read: "Idyllic Tavern. Home of Ziam's finest brandy" in bold lettering. "Good." I unintentionally snarled in anger at Lulani and marched past him, leaving Regjis to be bewildered by my actions. I opened the door swiftly and stood in the doorway. "I'll go get them. By myself!" I coldly stated over my shoulder and slammed the door behind me. Thinking instinctively, I turned and locked the door to keep them out. Ignoring Regjis's surprised protesting, I hesitantly made my through the large inside of the bar and gasped at the sight. Many of the large giant tables were broken in two pieces . Shards of beer glass larger then my whole body lay on the floor. Shards of beer glass larger then my whole body laid on the floor. The place was barren and empty except for the two familiar figures stood in the center of the building; Sanuk and Lilica. Sanuk had the appearance a confused dog sprawled on all fours. He had many new cuts among his face and along his forearms. Most likely from Lilica's very long nails. His left hand spewed with over flowing blood; a trail on the wooden floor. "Sanuk! You're a heartless monster!" Lilica yelled in anger at the beaten man and drew her hands into as tight of fists that could be possible. "How could you leave Amira by herself?! Especially on her first mission?! Gana will..." "I donn........care whut 'bout that damn womannnn.....*hiccup*....or her brat......She's a liarr you know....Hell....you all are.........Too scared to tell..........Amira tat she ain't nothing more then a disposed brat........not blood related to Ganatoa or nuthin'...Opps wasn't 'pposed to say that was I? Well I guess I did.....*hiccup*..." I froze in shock as I curiously listened to Sanuk's tipsy voice and looked down in disbelief. What did Sanuk mean by disposed? I was abandoned as a child? Mother wasn't my real mother? But why would she lie to me for all of my life? No.....it wasn't real....It just couldn't be..... "Amira?" I looked up to the voice that called to me, now tears flooding from my eyes. "Amira?" Lilica called to me again. "Did you hear that? Oh Amira....I..." Her voice slowly trailed away as I gave her a questioning look of sorrow. "Why didn't you...tell me? You knew all along didn't you?! Why?!" I glared angrily at Lilica for what seemed an eternity. Suddenly my body took control of my conscious and didn't wait for an answer. I turned tail and ran as fast as I could; back to the alley door.Hastily unlocking the door and wrenching it open, I fled past Regjis and Lulani deeper through the alley. I heard words call after me, but I didn't understand what they were saying. I ran and ran until my legs grew fatigued and suddenly collapsed. The rough ground battered my now frail being as I fell face forward onto the familiar earth. Unable to contain my growing sadness, I clutched the ground, hoping for comfort and let out a long, tear filled wail.

There's nothing wrong with being passionate Amira..........but please......hold it inside until an appropriate time..........That way, you'll be safe on the battlefield.... The vortex of despair was the only truth for me....For seventeen years I was lied too...All of my life. My moth.....No...Gana, and Lilica, Sand Risfu. They deceived into thinking that I was brought into this world by a giantess. A woman whom I couldn't even think of as my 'mother' anymore. "Sanuk was lying....He was drunk after all...Right? " I confidently stated with a false sense of security. Deep down I knew it was an ignorant lie that I wanted to be true, but it could never be. Reality could never change. But why now? Why did it have to be from Sanuk? Why couldn't she have told me sooner? "Why?........" I gave up trying to lie to myself. I already feel like I've heard a lifetime of lies. I didn't need or want to hear anymore for the time being. "Why?!" I repeated with more anger and sorrow. "Why?! Why?! Why?!" It felt like that was the only word that could escape my lips without being shot in pain. Sitting up onto my knees, I raised right arm into the air, curling it into a tight fist. Putting as much anger into the fist as I could, I brought it to the ground, feeling a bone of my hand crack in the process. Closing my eyes, I did nothing to stop the tears as they flooded from them and repeated the process five more times, ignoring all of the pain. "Why awe you hurting yowself wady?" Jumping from a sudden scared and meek voice behind me, I turned my head to look over my shoulder and stared at the sight of a small girl. She had long blue hair and timid blue eyes and wore a wealthy overdress, most likely made of silk. In her hands, she grasped a china doll that was dressed in a similar manner. "Did someone make you sad wady?" I said nothing as I gazed taciturnly at the girl. She seemed upset, lost and confused. She also looked like that she was on the verge of tears. "Where are your parents?" I quickly asked her, wiping away my tears in the process. "I lost my mama....I can't find her. *Sniff*...." She closed her eyes and clung to the doll as tightly as possible, tears now flowing from them. Her short cries reminded me of how I felt just a few minutes ago. Giving a sigh, I rose from my knees and calmly walked and knelt by her, placing a hand on her shoulder. This caused her to turn her attention to me; blue eyes gazing up at me. "What's your name?" "Sienna...." She hesitantly replied, looking cautiously from the cover of her doll. "Hello Sienna. I'm Amira. How old are you?" "This many..." She placed the doll in her left arm and raised her free hand into the air, eagerly waving it in front of my face; indicating that she was five years old. "Want me to help you find your mother Sienna?" I asked while moving my hand to the top of her head. "Wealwy wady?....... Yow're going to hewp me and Wucinda find mama?" She slowly stopped her crying and looked questioningly to me, lowering her doll from her face. "Lucinda? Is that you’re doll’s name?" I paused, raising an eyebrow to the name and looked down at Sienna. After seeing her motioning to the doll and nodding, I smiled and rose to my feet once again. "Alright. I promise I'll help you find you're mother Sienna. Do you remember where you last saw her?" "Me and mommy went to a baw. Then I couldn't see her anymowe." Sienna plainly stated and hugged her doll in comfort once more. "Oh....You must have been separated from her when the crowd gathered. Right?" "Yeah! Giants and peoples was all I could see, but not my momma." "Hmm...I see. What does she look like Sienna?" "She's pwetty!" Sienna raised the doll to her center and smiled in a bragging way. "Uhh....Heh heh....hahahaha!" I couldn't help but to laugh greatly at the simple, yet cute answer from the five-year-old and her confused gesture. "What's so funny?!" Sienna gave me an annoyed pouty face and crossed her arms while still cradling her doll. "Sorry Sienna." I pleaded to her with a reassuring tone. I guess it was for the better that I found the girl. It seemed like I had forgotten all about the whole bar incident and maybe I wouldn't look back on that while I helped Sienna find her mother. Was this what it was like to have a younger sibling? "I meant thing like her hair color and eye color and possibly her height. Something like that?" "Ohhhh. Umm.. Mama has green haiwa and my bwoo eyes." "Alright. Green hair and blue eyes. I think we should go look around the Tavern. Ready to go Sienna?" I turned to the girl and held out my hand. She gratefully took it and walked ahead of me. Tracing down the path that lead to the alleyway door for the Tavern, the two of us passed the door and went back onto the path that Regjis and I had walked along before meeting Lulani. Soon we found ourselves at the front of the pub; the crowd had dispersed and it seemed that the chaos had disappeared. Looking around, I saw few people left on the road. Risfu wasn't even there anymore. It was most likely Lilica had told him what had happened and he went off to find me. I spotted a lonely merchant placing a few vegetables on a stand and decided to approach the man with Sienna trailing behind me. "Umm...Excuse me Sir. This girl has lost her mother. Have you seen a woman with green hair and blue eyes?" "Heh.... Can't say I have lass. Too many people been passin' around to really see any facial details. A pity though. A young 'un like that losin' her mum in a place like this. Hope you find 'er." "Thank you anyway sir." I replied with disappointment. Someone would have to see Sienna's mother if she looked the way she did. But for about the next hour and after asking around a hundred different people, she didn't stand out as much as I thought she would. "Awe we going to find mama yet, Amiwa?" Sienna's eyes distressed a great sense of panic as she anxiously grasped her doll to her face. "Not yet Sienna. If we can't find her today, would you like to stay with me until we do find her?" "But we will find my mama though, wight Amiwa?" "Of course we will. She's looking for you as hard as we're looking for her. But because Idyllic is so big, there are a lot of places to look. Don't worry though Sienna, we'll find your mother." "Thank you Amiwa! Yowe my big sister now!" "Amira!" I heard a familiar voice call at me, followed by a sudden the thumps of footsteps. I turned to see Regjis running full speed towards me, with Lulani jogging much more slowly behind him while carrying his sack in his like the way Sienna held her doll. "Where were you?! Are you alright?! You jut took off without a word!" "I'm fine....Honest I am Regjis....I just heard some thing that maybe I should have heard from my mother.....I'll tell you later." I calmly stated, while hiding the fact that it hurt me so much to say the last part. Gana wasn't really my mother and yet I was lying not only to myself, but to someone I care a lot for. "Amira.........." Regjis said nothing more the instant he caught my eye and glanced to the ground in sympathy. "Hey!" We both turned to look to Sienna as the five-year-old clung to Regjis's pants and tugged at them. "Do you wuve Amiwa mista? You look like my daddy does when he cheews my momma up. So kiss her!" "Gracious what an interesting child!!" It seemed like Lulani was the only who could even speak. Allowing my mouth to hang open, I glanced to Regjis with a speechless look of embarrassment. He stared at Sienna in disbelief and his face immediately flooded crimson. "Sienna....It's not like that!" I rebounded while Regjis, still caught in thought, tried to find words but remained mute. "Why awe you weawing a weird hat? Why awe yowe eyes owange? Why do you have pointy eaws?" Sienna continued on, ignoring me in the process. Her target became Regjis's turban and began to swipe at it. "Hey what are you doing, you runt?! Get off!" Regjis blurted with aggravation as Sienna darted between his legs, trying to get the swaying cloth in her grasp. Watching the scene became very adorable, but the parade ended shortly when Lulani walked beside and gave a small chuckle. "Shouldn't you help your friend milady?" He asked simply and began to fiddle around in his leather sack. "Yeah. You're right Lulani. Sienna........" RIP! I froze in place after hearing the silk head piece split into two pieces. Sienna had succeeded and held her piece of the turban in the air with triumph. Looking to Regjis, I stared in awe as the small piece of silk covering his head fell to the ground and revealed a full head of violet locks of hair.

Chapter Nine: Part One
Sanuk has complained about you trying to get into his room with Ronald and Raymund on more then one occasion Amira............I understand that you want to become better acquainted with him, but Sanuk wants his privacy. Every person has their own burdens to bear and I think he doesn't want you to discover what he holds his own. Perhaps one day if he feels that you're ready to learn the truth of his trouble, then he will becomingly accept you."Puwple! Yowe haiwa is puwple!" "You little runt! Look what you caused!" Regjis angrily swiped the piece of silk that Sienna grasped in the air, who was twirling it with laughter. Leaning down, he retrieved the other teared piece and glance at both in frustration. He slowly rose back to his feet and gave a loud grunt. "Siht t'nsi doog.....Eht Naivorgad Stuocs lliw dinf em, fi enoemos sezingocer em......Tahw dluohs I od?........" "Regjis?" I stodgily approached him, a worried tone in my voice. I could see his entire profile thanks to Sienna. His violet hair gave a radiant shine in the sunlight. On the tip of his forehead, just below his hairline, a small blue symbol resided; a piercing of a sapphire stud in his left eyebrow. "Are you alright? You seem a tad edgy." "I'm fine...." He answered with a sense rickety in his voice. "It's just......."Regjis paused. He then glanced at Lulani and Sienna as if he had forgotten that they both were standing close by. Effusing a heavy sigh, he turned back to me and motioned his head in a disappointed way. “I’ll tell you later...." "Oh.....I understand Regjis..Forget that I asked then." I calmly responded with a reassuring tone, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I like your hair Regjis. It's really extraordinary! Do all Snogards have such interesting hair colors?" "Actually only special ranking members of Dragovia are given distinguished hair colors so they can be easily identified." Lulani's voice intervened Regjis before he could answer, taking a step closer with each word. "Am I wrong Regjis?" "No........ "Regjis hastily answered back, raising a suspicious eyebrow to the silver haired man. “Though I didn't suspect someone of your standing could know that Lulani......" The two pairs of eyes gave one another each indifferent glances. The orange eyes sending a suspecting air, while the crimson held a sense of ignorant innocence. "Hey Amiwa! Awe we going to find mama?" I turned to the source of yanking of my shirt. Sienna stood behind me with a curious look on her face and her doll snuggled in her arms. I looked speechlessly to the girl then to the two men as they glared in a deadlock. Venting out a sigh, I lowered myself to my knees and I placed my hand onto Sienna's shoulders, looking her in the eyes. "Sienna. We've looked everywhere in Idyllic. I don't think she's here anymore. You can come with us until we find her. I know we will, but just not right now. Is that ok?" "I guess so big sister. I want to go to Amiwa's home! Wucinda too!" Sienna gave a large pearly smile and hugged her doll in agreement. "Alright! Thanks for being so easy to deal with. You're being a lot more reasonable then Lulani and Regjis right now." I calmly said while letting out a giggle. Turning back to the two, I gaped at the sight. Neither said anything and each face bore no emotion; it was as if they were statues. Why did this seem familiar? It was alleyway, just before I went into the bar! It wasn't just my mind playing tricks on me was it! There was something about Lulani's eyes! I just knew it.... "Regjis? Lulani?" The names slowly seeped from my lips as I inched closer to the two. I brought my right hand to Regjis's face and gently pressed against his cheek. I nearly jumped in surprise when his eyes darted to me and his hand swiped at mine, grabbing it around the wrist area. "Are...you alright.. Regjis? I just......" "I'm fine." He replied coldly, cutting me off. "Are we going yet?" His tone full of anger and worry. "Oh yes.....I think we should go look for Lilica again....." "The blond giantess?" Lulani interjected. "She and the other male, (Risfu was it?), anyway they told us that they will be waiting for you in the infirmary. I think they were going to give you sometime to work things out on your own." "Oh...Thank you Lulani! I think we should go to infirmary then." Immediately after hearing that Regjis turned to another direction and slowly walked off into the crowded part of the port; pulling me along with him. I turned my head to my back to glance at Sienna and Lulani, who were puzzled as to what to do, and motioned for them to stay where they were. "Do you know the way Regjis?" Not even a nod or any indication that he knew where he was going. He glanced around cautiously and after a few moments of making sure the coast was clear, turned to face me. "Amira, I need to warn you about Lulani..." Regjis slowly whispered, placing both hands on my shoulders. "What do you mean Regjis?" I hesistently asked, looking Regjis straight in his orange eyes. Was he going to start this again? "At first, I couldn't have sure, but now I am. He's a hafling." "A halfling? What is a halfling?" "A halfling is a creature born from intercourse between two races. They are despised from birth because they are niether one nor the other of what their blood parents are. Each kind posses abilities of its own. Lulani is halfling born from a dragovian....His eyes speak for themselves. Earlier in the alley, you felt in a trance right?" "Yes......That was Lulani's doing? But why?" "I can't say why, but his ability can create illusions to fool his target and manipulate them in lies. He even tried that on me. You have to keep an eye on him, but don't get into eye contact with him Amira. He's definitely up to something." "I guess that does explains a lot....But Regjis, what did Lulani mean when he was talking about your hair color? Are you a ranked superior in Dagrovia?" "Erghh.....Well...I." Regjis was hesitant to answer. He gave me a nervous glance and looked to the ground, releasing a deep sigh. "I guess you pay attention to a lot of small details. How smart Amira. I suppose you have the right to know.....The truth is.......I'm the Prince of Dagrovia....." "The prince? But why would you be here? Why aren't you...." "In Dagrovia? Ha! That place was too stuffy for me. What I told you in the cave was really true. I had a yearning to see the rest of the world. My kind has become too secluded from the rest of the world...." I listened outwardly as Regjis continued on about his people came to believe that their affiliates in life was to their own and became uncaring for the lives of any other, thus separating themselves from the rest of the world. They even took to isles in the sky to see to that accomplishment. I then realized something about Regjis at that very moment. He must not have cared about his standing in Dagrovia's society, due to the fact that he never once gave an air of such an upbringing. He didn't complain at all about caring me when I twisted my ankle; not once. To me he didn't seem to be royalty at all, but what if that was what Regjis was trying to accomplish? "Was my disguise that convincing? You look like you don't believe me Amira!" Regjis smugly commented and roughly patted my shoulder. "Well it's a bit much to swallow all at once......but I guess I believe you Regjis. Is that the reason why you were agitated when Sienna.....Oh no! Sienna!" I jerked my head in the direction of where we last saw Lulani and Sienna. A new sense of foreboding began to swell. Would Lulani try something on Sienna, if what Regjis said was true? If something did happen to Sienna.....The burdening guilt alone was overpowering just by the thought of all the benighted possibilities. "What?" "You made me leave Sienna with Lulani! We have to go find her!" "He won't hurt her." I raised a skeptical eyebrow at Regjis's reply and turned questioningly to him. "Trust me Amira. He won't." Regjis assuringly motioned for me to follow and held his hand out for mine. "We should go back to the others now. I've heard a lot of things about your mother's mercenary, but have yet to actually glimpse it." "Regjis....How do you always talk so smoothly? You are quite a mystery to me Your Highness." I adoringly murmured to him and took his hand. I giggled at the new look of surprise and distaste that he wore in place of the confident looking one. "Oh dear....Maybe I shouldn't have told you. I don't want to be called any of that Amira." "I know Regjis. I couldn't resist it though!" The rest of the time, we talked about little things that ranged from our favorite foods to colors. Regjis liked meat and could care less if it was raw or cooked as long as he could eat it, while he liked the color blue. Looking at his pierce eyebrow and the marking on his forehead, one could agree with that statement. It was a matter of minutes before the familiar figures of the five-year-old and the priest came into my vision. I gave a short sigh of relief and a grateful prayer to the gods that Regjis was right. Sienna still grasped her doll and glared at me with a definite look of annoyance. Lulani stood beside her, wearing a look of curiosity. "How wude Amiwa! Why did you weave me awone big sister? Wucinda was scawed!" "I'm sorry to worry you, Sienna. Are you two ready to go to the infirmary yet?" After a seeing a nod from both Sienna and Lulani, I nodded in return and face Regjis once again. "Ok we're all set. Do you know the way there Regjis?" He gave a quick reply of yes and slowly set off. I followed closely behind but nearly fell face forward when a small hand suddenly reached up and grasped my hand. I glanced down to the ground, to Sienna, and smiled approvingly. Together we continued on behind Regjis, with Lulani lastly lingering on our tracks.

Name Pronunciations Colt- a baby horse! Ea- ee ey Chapter Nine: Part Two We walked for nearly an hour before Regjis gave any indication to stop. Most of the time I could barely keep close to him, due to how over crowded the area around the port became as time passed on. "Stay close Amira!" I heard Regjis call to me, holding out his beckoning arm for my hand. I quickly accepted it and tightened my grip on Sienna's hand, while glancing back to make sure that Lulani was still following us. A few moments later, I felt someone briskly brush against me too close for comfort. I looked up in shock to the face of a man with long black hair and red bangs and silver eyes. He wore a long red cloak that shrouded his entire body. He looked distinctly familiar... "Watch it woman." He muttered in an annoyed tone and hastily jogged off. "Lady Amira! Did that scoundrel violate your space and touch you?!" Lulani immediately questioned the instant the man was gone. "No...."I answered. For a few minutes I pondered on his actions and wondered why he was so close to me. The thought just disturbed me, unless...."Oh no..." I groaned while digging through my pocket to retrieve the small pouch of gold pieces I had placed there before we set out to Idyllic. It was gone! That man just stole my money! Of all the nerve! "That thief!" "Amira! What's wrong?" Regjis called out to me again, turning back and approaching me in the process. "This man just pick pocketed me Regjis! I'm going to find him! Stay here with Regjis, Sienna!" I told the small girl and left her beside the two bewildered men, running with great speed in the direction that the thief fled. "Hey you thief! Come back here!" I yelled in anger as soon as I glimpsed the red cape and pursued the owner in a relentless chase. He tried to outmaneuver me many times while swiftly evading large crowds that seemed to pop out in random places. But fortunately for me, when you grow up with giants you learn to try to outrun them and stay on your feet. "You're not getting away!" The chase continued on as the man made an instant turn into the nearest alley, with me very close on his tail. As soon as I turned after him, I saw his figure leap above a large metal trash bin and flee further down the alley. I sighed and darted to the bins, using greater speed, and pushed off the ground. My foot brushed against the top of the bin and pulled me to the ground; falling face forward onto the ground. "Omph! Urgh...." "You're not too light on your feet are ya? You're quite an annoying girl. You know that?" I heard the familiar voice slowly question me, as a loud thump followed. Lifting my head from the ground, I saw the man slowly walk to me, holding his hand out. "Well I have a reason to." I replied curtly, while hesitantly taking his hand and rising to my feet. "You stole my money. Now give it back!" "Are you always down to the point?" He then reached beneath his cloak, withdrawing my missing pouch and placed it in my hand. "I'm impressed though, most girls would whine and complain, but wouldn't do squat. The name's Colt." "And I'm leaving now." "Sorry...Can't let you do that....Now that you've seen my secret hideout woman." Colt interjected, stepping in my path and grabbing my wrist. "Let go!" "You might wanna let go of her, ya? I really don't want to hurt a human, ya know." Upon hearing that familiar and welcomed voice, I sighed with a huge sense of relief to see Risfu leaning against a tall building wall further down the alley, wearing a look virulence. "You really should listen to a woman and be a polite little man, ya know?" "Risfu? I thought you were at the infirmary with Lilica!" I eagerly suggested while trying to pull away from Colt's grasp. "Well I was, but Lilica asked me to go get some ointment for Sanuk's scratches, ya? But then I saw you chasing streaky over there, ya know. So I decided to follow and good thing I did." "So you're a L'ivakaian huh? Echer miests yon to ogara!" Colt immediately spat at Risfu and chuckled evilly in delight. "Oi! Watch your mouth, you little rogue! Now I'm gonna ask you one more time. Let Amira go little man." "So, her name's Amira is it? How nice....It's a Ziaman name that means one that never gives up right?" Colt eerily asked, while taking a few grouped up strands of my hair and pulling it back to his face, squinting his silver eyes. "I hate women...They're so frail and weak. They annoy me so terribly...yet...I've always been bounded to them..........Tell me Amira...what does it like to be hated for what you are, even just after birth?" "What do you mean Colt? You don't even know who I am!" I defensively muttered to him, while still struggling to escape his grip. "We are the same, you and I. But you are too young and naive to know....." "Don't listen to him Amira." Risfu's sudden voice boomed above the two of us. Risfu swiftly entrapped Colt into his grasp and lifted him off the ground, enclosing his fist around Colt's stomach and everything below. "See. I warned you, ya? Why is almost every single human so stubborn? Now apologize to Amira." Risfu slowly barked at Colt, bringing him to eyelevel. "Echer miests rign morfe!" Colt yelled at Risfu and drew a sharp knife hidden from under his cloak, swiping at Risfu and giving him a deep gnash along his index finger. Risfu jumped in surprise and released Colt, who back flipped to the ground and landed on his feet. A large, earth shaking, thump on the ground caused me to look around in surprise. Tossing my head back, I gasped in surprise when a large male giant with short gray hair and ember orange eyes, ran past me and slammed into Risfu, sending the shocked L'ivakaian back into brick walling. The giant wore a red headband, a leather sleeveless top, and white pants. He had a long scar on the top of his nose that ran under each eye. "Damn it Colt! What a pain you are! This is the third time this week I had to get you outta' trouble!" The giant impatiently spat at Colt and crossed his arms, looking down at the thief in annoyance. "Well I didn't ask you to come Ea! Did I old man?!" "Old?! I ain't old, eh?! You little ingrate! Why I otta'......." Ea immediately halted when Risfu rebounded from the blow and charged at the man in the same manner, sending him to the ground and causing the ground the quiver from the blow. "That's a dirty trick to pull on someone while they're distracted, ya? How does it feel....Wait a minute.....Ea? Is that you, ya? Gerts yom Risfu! Tia o lika?" "Risfu? Lika tia yom Ea....Marenda?" The giant answered back while slowly rising to the ground. He stared at Risfu with a questioning glance, looking him up and down. "Risfu! Morf yong to miep!" Ea suddenly responded and eagerly approached him. I starred in slight confusion as Risfu and Ea stood face to face. They gave each other a huge bear hug, slapping each other on the back in joy. After the two released each other, they held out their forearms and slammed them against the arm across from each. "Umm Risfu?" I called quietly to the dirty blond and raised an eyebrow. He looked down at me and gave me a reassuring smile. "He's an old friend Amira, ya? We grew up together and went to the same academy in L'ivaka Province before I came to Ziaman twenty-five years ago, ya know? I'm surprise to see you Ea!" "Talk about it Risfu, eh. When you left I decided to find my own calling and then I found trouble maker over there. I've been with Colt since when he was a little babe." "I'm not a damn child anymore Ea! So quite talking like I am..... Reminiscent old man..." Colt muttered shyly to Ea, with a flash of red glowering across his face. But I don't think he said it loud enough to be heard by anyone but me. "Ea meisty morf plan Ganatoa Fighters, meta yu men dsas. Meya que to san?" Risfu continued on in L'ivakaian. He turned to Ea with a pleading look in his crimson eyes. "Hmm.....Morto sena to wrof....." Ea answered back, placing his hand on his chin. "Colt! Meta yon Amira yu Risfu tonaf." He added on and turned to Colt. Ea then gestured to me and then to Risfu. "Eraf?! Mey lika tia o miep!" Colt angrily spat at Ea, throwing his arms up in an arguing method. "Yon morf mey tia!" "Well argue that with yourself along the way. It's an order Colt. Besides I think Amira would be a good influence on you." "Grr....I hate you Ea." "Then it's settled Colt. You're going to join Risfu and Amira's group."

Chapter Ten Amira.......If my time to say goodbye and leave comes soon, then I want you to know how proud I am of you. We all die at one time or another, but some go faster then others. But I don't want you to mourn over me Amira. You have to be strong for not only yourself, but those who are close to you. For a moment I couldn't bring myself to understand Ea's sudden order to Colt. He's going with us now? Just what did Risfu say to Ea in L'ivakaian? I raised an eyebrow to the now angered man and crossed my arms in confusion. The only response I received was a concise shrug and a coarse drawl. "We'd better get back to Lilica, ya?" I heard Risfu's sudden voice with an urging tone. "Oh I saw your lot of friends Amira, ya know? I told them to held over to the infirmary and I would bring you over there. Plum head was the most concerned. Heh heh." Risfu ployed. He chuckled in even more delight at my reaction and jabbed Ea in the side with his elbow. "Miet yoneg ta? Hehehe..." "Wh...what? Risfu! I know that look! It's not what you think!" I blurted in embarrassment. I crossed my arms and began to stomp out to the exit of the alley way. "Your boyfriend?" Colt's voice trailed behind an his lingered in my footsteps. "Regjis is not my boyfriend!" I yelled in annoyance at Colt's figure and continued on stomping to the exit of the alley. "Whatever you say. Better hurry to your lover..." Colt muttered and quietly snickered before following after me. "Starting trouble already Colt? Don't be too much of a handful, eh?" Ea called after the thief and extended his arm to Risfu. "Good seeing you Ris'." "I guess this is goodbye for now Ea." Risfu sadly spoke, while taking Ea's hand and shaking it for a few seconds. "Ah you sappy old wench! 'Goodbye' is for a funeral! Remember what I said at the academy? Destiny has a strange way of intertwining her pawns, so this won't be the last time we'll see each other. So quit your belly aching, eh?" ".......I guess you're right, ya? See you then Ea." Risfu assuredly replied and placed his left hand on Ea's shoulder. I could feel the ground vibrate greatly as Risfu began to jog to catch up to Colt and I as we slowly made distance away. "So....You've been with Ea a long time Colt?" I quietly asked to Colt who treaded slowly behind me. "Are you deaf or something? Ea already said it... Stupid girl! You should really clean your ears out idiot..." Colt snapped in response, not even looking at me. I swear his attitude reminded me of someone, but I just couldn't figure out who. "Sorry....jerk...." I muttered feeling greatly offended. Why was Colt being so mean to me? Was he that upset with having to come to the mercenary? It's not like I asked him to or anything... Risfu did, right? "We're here kiddo, ya? I'll go inside and get Lilica. She wanted to tell you something in private, ya know?" Risfu hastily explained, knelling to the ground in the process. I stared to his ruby eyes in panic. What did Lilica want to say to me? Was it about what I overheard in the bar? About me not being Gana's real child? "Alright Risfu......." I anxiously replied. "Uh thanks!" I called after his departing figure, with Colt following behind. I gulped and look upward to the entrance of the infirmary. On the giant, wooden yet rustic sign hanging just above the large door way, an inscription read: Idyllic Infirmary; Home of the Wounded and Scarred. The building on the outside was very similar to the design of the bar, But the only difference was the fact that the bar had swinging doors and the infirmary didn't have any doors whatsoever. Most likely to make it easy to get patients in and out. I quickly decided and left the though at that. ".......Amira?" I froze at the sound of Lilica's concerned voice and slowly found my sights set upon her ocean blue eyes. "Oh....h...hi...Lilica.....What's...up?" I hesitantly answered back, looking to the ground with uncertainty. "Amira...Listen to me.....Whatever you heard Sanuk say....it might be true but I'll never change my opinion of what I think of you despite that." Lilica firmly responded, coming closer to me. Kneeling onto the ground, she laid her hand spread flat on the ground before me. Looking at her palm, I slowly climbed into her hand and at own sadly as she lifted her hand up once more. "Amira....I know you're upset, but let me tell you something....Gana never once though of you as only a human. She loved you more then a mother could love her child." "I...know Lilica....and I love her like a child could love their mother too.....But I guess I didn't want to hear it......I felt so upset when I heard that Gana wasn't my blood mother.....She's a great person and I want to be strong like she is.." "Gana is strong because she's struggle a lot for what she believes in. I think if you can pull through this, Amira, then you'll grow stronger. That's why Gana worries so much over you Amira..." I opened my mouth for a moment to think of something to say, but closed it hastily after fining myself still soaking in what Lilica had meant. I sighed while realizing that she was right and sincere about all of it. Why else would she try so hard to assure me that I wasn't alone? Not that I mind or anything. "......You're right.....Thanks Lilica." "It's no problem Amira." She warmly answered back, bringing the hand I was in to her chest and wrapping it in a hug. I smiled in relief and placed both of my arms as tightly as I could on her neck. "Feel better?" Lilica asked while placing me back on the ground. I nodded and murmured a simple 'yes.' "You look like you have a bit on your mind Lilica. Are you feeling well?" "Well.....There's something else I wanted to tell you though it's a bit embarrassing.....Heh....Oh dear..." Lilica shyly whispered back. Her face turning a slight color of radish. "Come on Lilica. You can tell me." "Well the thing is.......Just a little bit ago....After I brought Sanuk here...the doctor told I looked pale with morning sickness....so I took a test and it turned positive....I'm.....I'm....pre....preg.......pregnant Amira." "You are?! How great! How far in?" "It happened just before I left to Idyllic around four weeks ago....but you can't tell anyone yet Amira. Especially Risfu......Please!" "Oh alright! I won't tell daddy about his baby, but you have to tell him soon! I'm sure he'll notice the bump eventually. Is it a girl or boy?" "Can't really say yet....Do you want to go inside now? Your purple haired friend was anxious to find you. Believe me, when a boy is in that kind of state, the girl better calm him down." "Alright! Let's go in Lilica!"

Chapter Eleven Mommy? How much longer will you live when I die?.................I won't live that long compared to you silly mommy! You'll live forever maybe! Right mommy? No one could ever hurt you. You're invincible!...........
Amira Age: Six years old After Lilica had convinced me to go into the infirmary, I took a moment to absorb the sights and gaze at the heights incredulously after stepping through. Many giant men wearing long white over coats and woman in long white dresses passed back and forth many times. "Stay here Amira. I'll tell Risfu and Sanuk it's time to go." Lilica hastily spoke and took off into a less crowded hallway. "Alright Lilica." I called after her and decided to lean against the entrance's doorway. What would I say to Sanuk? I know he was really responsible on his end and he deserved the consequences, but maybe not so literally. Gana always told me I was too forgiving, but the truth was that I didn't like seeing other people suffer, even if they committed an intolerable crime... For a moment I concluded that I should just act like nothing happened, especially if Regjis found out. He would most likely change into his Snogard form and.......I don't even want to know what would happen then. "Urgh....Why is life so complicated?" I questioned after releasing a strained sigh. But speaking of Regjis, I wonder where he, Lulani, and Sienna were currently. I really didn't mean to leave them to chase Colt. It was an accident after all..... "Hey twinkle toes...." Colt's voice was fairly recognizable and easy to detect, despite the fact that it was almost drowned away in the sea of much higher and louder voices. Turning to my adjacent left, I could now see Colt's figure, shrouded by the red cloak as usual. I don't really know why but I was kind of glad to see him and slowly made my way to him, carefully noting the giant feet of the doctors and nurses. "Where's your lover boy? I've been wanting to meet him to ask him what he could possibly see in you." Colt mockingly asked me while placing his left arm around my shoulder. "Well....I..." "Hey! You!" I froze at the familiar voice that currently spewed with anger. I turned my head to the left to see Regjis approaching the two of us; each step in fury. "Take your hands off of her!" He quickly blurted, swiping Colt's arm off of me. "Oh....Oh I see! You are the famous lover boy I've heard so much about....Well what are you gonna' do about it? Huh?" Colt replied mockingly while thrusting his hands into Regjis's chest and pushing him back a few inches. "You shouldn't have done that......You really shouldn't have..."Regjis slowly inclined, a tone of flaring fury in his voice. "Why? Too scared to take me?" "No...not all!" Regjis replied giving a good hit to Colt's right eye, knocking Colt onto his back. "Regjis!" I cried in surprise. What was Regjis thinking? Colt sat up slowly, rubbing his right eye in a daze. He grunted and cackled evilly. "I see. It's that way?" He spat hastily and bounded at Regjis, grasped his collar and fell to the ground atop of the Dagrovian. Regjis in turn reached his hands to Colt's shoulders and propelled Colt's body off of him by the use of his feet. Colt sprung from the ground quickly and came at Regjis, pounding Regjis a blow to the chin. The two found themselves rolling onto the floor, in the process screaming at the top of their lungs. One in Dragovian and the other L'ivakaian. "Eid mucs!" "Miet lika ter imy!! Ah!" Regjis and Colt continued the struggle for the next few but long minutes. At one time it seemed that Regjis was overpowering Colt, but Colt quickly evened out and held his ground. I felt so powerless to stop the two. What could I do? "Regjis! Get off of .......Colt! Get off of Regjis!" I ordered the pair as they threw wild and random punches to each other, hitting the other many times. "Stay out of this stupid woman!" Colt snapped at me, only to have another hard hit to the face from Regjis. "Don't call Amira that!" "Ohhh.....Is that your woman?" Colt taunted and swiped at Regjis again. "Even better!" "Stop it you two! This is getting nowhere!" I spoke in worry and anger. Those two idiots were going to cause nothing but trouble. Sighing, I ran to the backside of Colt and and grabbed his arm and struggled to pry his body off of Regjis. "I said stop!" I didn't expect what happened after that though. Someone's fist accidentally collided to my left cheek with a great, unmerciful blow. I took a step back and fell to the ground in shock, rubbing my cheek, which was most likely bruised now. "Amira?! Amira! Are you alright?!" Regjis immediately addressed me and rushed to my side, placing a hand against my cheek. "Yeah....I'm fine..just a little dazed....Now that I have your attention, please stop fighting!" I stated forcefully, deciding to strike while they least unexpected it. "You're both being immature and disrupting the infirmary. So stop acting like children and act your age! Real men would settle their disagreements in the right place at the right time instead of throwing their fists around looking for a fight!" Rising to my feet, I glared to each Colt and Regjis with disappointment and crossed my arms. Both had a look of being caught off guard. "Amira....I...." Regjis hesitantly began, but I cut him off by raising my hand to his mouth. "Don't bother right now Regjis. What am I going to do with you two?!" "Lady Amira? Is something the matter?" I turned to the sound of Lulani's voice and smiled in relief to see the priest and Sienna beside him with Lucinda in her arms, approaching us. Lulani wore a look of curiosity as soon as he set his eyes on Colt. Though he said nothing to indicate it, he was very interested in the thief. "No Lulani...I'm fine. I apologize for running off on you like that." "I hold no grudge against it. It relieves me that you're well milady." Lulani answered warmly and innocently. "Big sister! I missed you! Where were you?" Sienna demanded while running to me and hugging my leg affectionately. "I missed you too Sienna! Were you a good girl?" "Yes! I was verwy good!" "Ah! Ain't that cute, ya? I always told Gana she should of got you a younger sister kiddo, ya know?" "Risfu? Hi big guy!" I eagerly looked to the L'ivakaian as he approached our small group and knelt before us. "Wow! A giant man!" Sienna cried in excitement and ran to Risfu's giant ankle. After looking to Risfu's face, she tapped his ankle in disbelief. "Yep! I'm real squirt." Risfu replied joyfully, brought his index finger to Sienna's head and gently rubbed it. "Heheh! I'm not a squiwt!" Sienna giggled and clung to his finger. Risfu chuckled and brought her to his palm. Sienna squealed in delight at this and rolled around his palm. Seeing this cute scene made me think about Lilica being pregnant with Risfu's baby. Yep, I think he'll make a wonderful father. I can't wait until Lilica gives birth! "Amira? We're ready to go now!" Lilica came not too soon after, carrying a small white bag. Most likely full for pregnancy sickness remedies. Sanuk was close behind; his face was now bandaged with an eye patch over his left eye. His left hand that bled was also bandaged now. "I think Sanuk had something to say." She angrily stated, jabbing the giant in the side with her elbow. "Nope. Nothing." Sanuk coldly stated. I didn't expect him to admit to abandoning me and I didn't seen any gain otherwise. "Believe whatever you want Sanuk." I replied with a similar tone. I really wasn't in the mood to deal with him. Even if he did act so horrible. "I really don't care if you confess to anything, but I want you to know one thing. I often wonder if you even have a heart. You act like a monster for no particular reason. I wonder how you sleep at night Sanuk..." Time passed so much slower after I finished. Everyone stared with a dumbfounded look. Even Sanuk looked like he was caught off guard for a few seconds. Looking back to Lilica I smiled earnestly and asked, "Is everyone ready to go now? We're heading back home now. To the mercenary!"

Name Pronunciations Ganatoa- Gay na tow uh Chapter Twelve Momma! I'm gonna be the best mercenary ever! I'm not joking, really! ..................Hmph! Well you may think that, but just wait 'till I'm old enough to take your place. Then I'll show everybody that they better not underestimate me. I'll put them in their place if they do!.........Hey!.... Stop it momma! That tickles....ha ha... hehehe!
Amira Age: Eight years old We were finally heading back home after the very long and eventful. Home......Nothing sounded more to look forward to as we departed from Idyllic, already making good time back. Thanks to our concerted timing, we were nearly half way there in under two hours, even though Sanuk wordlessly wandered far behind us. Mot of the time I was silent and it was peaceful aside from a long chat the Lilica and Risfu had while Colt and Regjis gave each other death glares. But I learned at that walk that silence could be worth more then a lake of gold and I spent a lot more time of thinking of what to say to Mother...Gana about overhearing Sanuk. The thought still produced a variant amount of questions it didn't really upset me as much now as before....... Was that bad? Should I be worried about the fact that I just wanted to know more about the when instead of why? For a moment, I began to feel a bit queasy on the thought. Could there be a reason for her to....... "Amira?" Regjis worriedly asked. He abandoned Colt, (who had been approached by Sienna and she asked why he had long, woman's hair) and walked by my side. "You haven't said anything recently. Not since we last left the port." "Why do men fight over ridiculous things Regjis?" I calmly asked, casting a far-fetched glance to him. "That pretty boy, know-it-all, smart a** was asking for it Amira!" Regjis defensively replied. He looked like he wanted to continue on ranting, but stopped shortly after catching my annoyed stare. "..............Ok, maybe I reacted just a bit badly but still.........diputs ssa....Eh tog ykcul siht emit, tub tsuj tiaw llitnu Amira tn'si dnuora....." Regjis muttered while stomping off, but making sure to stay of viewing distance of Colt. "What will I do with Regjis?" I asked aloud, but it wasn't like anyone was around to hear, let alone answer. Was he ever planning on returning to Dagrovia? Was there a reason he left in the first place? I know he told me that he wanted to travel, but could there be more of a reason? "We're almost home Amira." Lilica now walking closely to me, called down to me while looking onward. "I can't believe we only have a few miles left to go.......How time goes by faster when you're with a lot of people." "Yeah......When we get back to the mercenary, I'm taking a long bath and then I'll sleep for a day!" I added in agreement, followed by the two of us laughing. I wonder what it will be like now that we have more allies on our side.... Lilica halted a while later of traveling and looked to the air in disbelief. I nearly ran into the back of her boot, but barely avoided in time and stood inches away. "Lilica?! What's wrong?" I called up to her in fret, fearing that something horrible was going to happen. She looked down to me and instantly lifted my body onto the palm of her extended arm. I looked directly ahead of us and gasped in terror at the sight. I couldn't bring myself to believe that the mercenary building had flames blazing from the roof and grew bigger as each second passed, engulfing the building entirely. "The mercenary! Lilica what happened?!" I yelled in dismay as Lilica gently replaced me on the ground. "Someone took advantage of our trip! Damn it! They must have planned it all out! Risfu!" Lilica called to the L'ivakaian, wearing a look of fret. "What is it, ya?..........The fort!" Risfu exclaimed after seeing the mercenary building setting ablaze in the not so distant landscape. "Amira!" Called a certain familiar voice from a few yards away. Running towards me was one of the twins in the mercenary, Ronald. His blue eyes were strained and diminished and his face red from exhaustion and his short brunette hair gave a sheen of sweatiness. He and his twin brother Raymund were abandoned on the front door step as babies a few months after Ganatoa Fighters was formed so Gana allowed them to come into our "home". The two were two and a half years younger then me. "What is it Ron?" "Big trouble!.....Huff......heh......" "What's happened Ron?" I asked the twin with a distinguished perturbed tone. "Everything was peaceful for a while after you guys left, huff...heh.... but then a group of human soldiers lead by a man with raven and gold came. They also had a single giant dressed entirely in silver armor and demanded something from your mom." Ron explained slowly, taking a big breath of air after finishing. "What did they want?" Lilica asked, still looking at the building as it slowly disappeared in the consuming flames. "They didn't say. The giant said 'We know you still have it Ganatoa.....Hand it over now!' Even though I couldn't see his face, he was very ominous. But your mother told him that she threw it away. The raven then told the giant to take care of the business here and lead the soldiers away a while ago......" "We have to put the fire out! Now!" I anxiously spoke and turned to Lilica and Risfu. "Can you two get water from the lake?" "Yep! Good thing we left a few buckets near the lake, ya Lilica?" Risfu volunteered, gently nudging his fiance in the side. "I think we can save most of the building if we hurry! Let's go Risfu!" Lilica stated. With that, the two were off to the lake. It was around maybe five hundred feet away from our current position. "Amira. I can help as well." Regjis conveyed as he waited the building ablaze. "If you don't mind your fort being a bit dirty after the fire is put out." He added. "Oh.....Alright! Be careful Regjis!" He walked a few feet away from me, seeming to grow a foot taller with each step. Slowly he fell to his front as three large appendixes began to sprout from his back. His clothing disappeared entirely as he skin became black and scaly. I was now standing inches behind the same Snogard who I had just met earlier today. He whipped his long tail to sky as the beast curved his long neck to me and looked down at me with yellow eyes with an assuring stare. Regjis proceeded to flap his large black wings and took to the sky, flying to the building. For a moment I watched him land to the building's front and dig up dirt that was flung to try to lower the fire's oxygen supply. The actions reminded me of a dog's behavior in a kind of way. "Hey woman!" Colt called to me as he slowly came to lingering behind me. "Yes Colt?...." "What am I supposed to do?" He asked with a bored and anticipating tone. "Um......Stay here and watch. Ron. I'm going to look for my mother. Can you tell Sanuk to help get water when he catches up?" "Sure thing Amira. Tell Ray to come wait with us when you see him. Oh yeah! Your mother went to the forest just behind the fort. I think she's fighting against the silver knight as we speak." "Thanks Ron. I appreciate it!" "Lady Amira? May I come with you? If your mother is hurt, I can give her some healing dust, as I did for you. It's better to be safe then sorry, correct?" Lulani's urgent question took me for surprise as he took a step to me. He said nothing more as he waited for answer. "Oh....You're right Lulani! Of course! Sienna?" "I'll stay hewa big sister! I want to pway with Misses howsey!" Sienna answered sprightly as she tugged Colt's red coat. "What?! Stupid kid! I'm a man! And my name is Colt!" Colt glanced down at Sienna with an uncertain look on his face. "Please Colt......Jut until I find my mother....." Colt said nothing as he crossed his arms in anger and turned away. "Fine..." He answered miserly and muttered angrily in L'ivakaian. "Mier....ta mieg lika....Hmph!" "Thanks Colt. Let's go Lulani!" I turned to the priest and nudge him to follow. Lulani nodded and clutched his back pouch tighter. Together the two of us took off at an incredible sprint. We passed Regjis, who was still digging up large piles of dirt and flinging at the flames, soon passing the flaring building and entering the forest. "Mother?! Where are you?" I called a few moments later, only to here my own echo as a response from the forest. I began to push desperately through the branches and shrubs. The sun was beginning to set and the forest's pathway was slowly darkening. "Amira! Listen! It sounds as though there are blades clashing near." Lulani stated while looking around. He then pointed in a north-western direction and I hastily followed the path. I desperately continued to run and run until I found myself crashing to the ground after tripping on a large tree root sticking up. Looking upwards, I gasped in shock to see Gana in the clearing. In each hand, she grasped a golden sword. She was now wearing a piece of gold trimmed armor on her chest and a silver forehead protector. Hanging from her waist to her ankles was a blue veil covering her dark leather pants and boots. Standing just feet across from her was a giant of similar heights. He wore silver armor that glimmered in the now appearing moonlight. He grasped a large metal shield in his right hand and a large sword with blue designs on the blade. "Mother?!" I called to her in worry and began to run to her. "Amira?! Stay back!" She called in warning and raised her blade to the giant. I immediately stopped and slowly walked back. What was going on? "I know you have it still Ganatoa.....Where have you hidden it?" The armor dressed giant asked with a cryptically tone of voice. Ron was right to call him ominous. "I've told you....I threw it away the instant I found it." Mother answered back. She gazed at the man with a suspicious look as she continued to hold her sword in position. "Someone as foxy and witty as you simply threw the item away? Why is that hard to find as the truth?" "That voice....." Mother suddenly said with a look of disbelief. "I know you....Do you really think you can surpass me? The woman who once tutored you in the art of sword fighting? Have at you boy..." She stated calmly. For a moment the two gave a deadlock of staring, but that immediately changed as the knight charged at Mother and swung his sword. She easily dodged and swung her weapons continuously at the man. He blocked each blow and gave a swipe to her side. She grunted in pain for a just second and continued at the knight. He quickly blocked and made a swift movement to her left side, around her heart. Mother gaped her mouth open and dropped both swords to the ground. She fell backwards away from the man and crashed into a few trees, grunting in agony. "Is that...all there is Ganatoa? You've become too old, too weak....." He stated with a sense of pleasure and content. "Gan......Mother?! Mother!" I called with great fear and despair. I hastily ran from my spot beside Lulani and stopped inches away from Mother's large but limp boy. "Amira....Ugh.....He's right.......too weak..." "Now tell where you have hidden it Ganatoa. Either that or you're precious child will be slaughtered here and now with you. Would you like that?" "No! You mustn't hurt Amira!" Lulani suddenly exclaimed to the giant and stared at him with disapproval. "What do you care halfling? You've fulfilled your purpose. You can return to your orphanage and as promised Eistrania will leave it standing. Now leave or I will personally see otherwise." The giant knight answered and spat in disgust at Lulani. "Lulani?!" I asked in confusion. What purpose? Lulani....betrayed us? "I'm sorry Lady Amira...... I was to stall you so your mercenary could be ambushed......Please forgive me......." Lulani sadly explained and swiftly departed from the scene. "Lulani! How could you?! I trusted you!" I called after Lulani in failure. I really wanted to pursue the priest, it would probably be the only chance I had but I couldn't leave the wounded giantess alone. There was nothing more I could do, let alone stop the silver knight. "Now I will ask you once more with such impatience Ganatoa! Tell me where it is!" "I see.......Wrivolste was too much a coward to dirty his hands......I suppose I am relieved that I will take that secret to my grave..." "You would rather me to shed your daughter's blood for your so called cause? So be it." The giant harshly stated and slowly took many steps closer to Mother and I. I could not see what his face looked like at that exact moment, but it was safe to say that he was sure on what he was doing. "Amira......run..away....." Mother weakly warned, coughing up blood the second she finished. "No! I won't leave you Mother!" "Ha. Foolish child! Let death be your teacher." The knight viscously spat down at me, lowering his sword just above my head and raised to the air, ready to strike own with more strength. He proceeded to bring the sword down, but stopped in the shock of a ear piercing roar from the skies. The giant and I both looked upwards out of shock to see Regjis flying through the clouds, flames spewing from his mouth as he scanned the forest floor. "The Dagrovian prince is here........Damn it! The halfling didn't inform me on that! I'll deal with him later, but I suppose it is my time to depart. Wrivolste will have my head for this.....You get to keep your life human, but Ganatoa on the other hand will burn in hell, especially with the poison on my sword to assist. Heh heh heh......." The knight sheathed his sword on his back and lifted his shield, with that he slowly walked away with a sense of victory. "Moth......Mother?" I asked urgently to her as soon as the knight had disappeared from view. "Ah.......Amira......You must listen to me......" Mother weakly whispered to me, now rising to her knees and leaning against a small group of trees. "I wish this never happened. But the time for you to find the truth would happen soon.........I....I am not your real mother....." "I know....I accidentally overhear Sanuk while he was tipsy........I don't know why he hates me so much......But anyway, I don't care if I was just abandoned or anything. I'm just happy that you were the one to take care of me." ".....Amira........." Mother whispered teary-eyed in surprise. She looked own at for a moments in silence and slowly moved her head upwards. "You may think that you were abandoned, but you weren't.....You mother, whose name was Rina, escaped the human kingdom Eistrania a week after your birth, pursued by a high ranking man named Wrivolste. She took the quickest route possible; through the Cursed Forest. A poisonous viper caused her death, but I think fatigue and weariness would have done so if she were not bitten........" "Having fun reminiscing Ganatoa?" A sudden husky voice, surprised not only me, but I think Mother mostly. I looked up to see Sanuk approaching the two of us, glaring as he took each step. "Why does this seem familiar? Oh yes now I remember! You're groveling on the ground like I have to because of you! Well more like had to, seeing you're current position." "Sanuk......please...." Mother weakly whispered, with a pleading tone to her voice, as she rose to her knees in agony. She was begging now?! She must be in so much pain.... For a moment Sanuk stood motionlessly, watching Mother slowly come closer to him. He then chuckled eerily and reach behind his back to his swords sheath. "I understand perfectly Ganatoa. I'll help you alright." Instantly he drew his sword and charged at Mother, running his sword through her chest area. He pulled the sword out a few moments later and re-stabbed on her upper left side.........around her heart area. The time from Sanuk pulling his sword out once again to Mother falling to the ground with dilated pupils and pale skin, the seconds became minutes. I felt helpless and frozen as I stared in disbelief at the limp body. Feeling tears flooding from my frail eyes, I looked to Sanuk is anger. "Sanuk?! You monster! How could you?! She's hurt! She couldn't defend herself and you knew that! I hate you!" I yelled angrily at him, coming closer to the giant without really thinking. "Oh shut up! Damn stupid brat!" Sanuk replied with a teeming tone as his silver eyes looked down at me with hatred. He raised his right foot up and kicked my entire body, sending me back against a hard surfaced tree. Instants later, the blow knocked me into unconsciousness. I didn't know how much longer it was when I finally awoke. It could have been minutes or even days. Though I was skeptical to think it was days, because even though Sanuk was nowhere in sight after I sat up and looked around, the moon was still hanging in the sky and Mother was still lying in the same position. I looked in surprise to see a human sized golden sword laid before my feet. I slowly grasped the handle and brought the sword closer to examine it. On the left side of the blade was an inscription that read 'The Key that will open all.' Shrugging at its meaning I slowly stood up and hastily went to Mother's side. "Mother? Please...get up....." I don't know how many times I pleaded to her, but she never once opened her eyes or said one word or even moved for the rest of the night. My mother, Ganatoa of the Ganatoa Mercenaries, the glue that held it all together.......was gone. Dead. A corpse.... Never to the see the sunrise of a new day ever again.....

Chapter Thirteen Mother.....You always were there for me and you never asked for anything in return. How can I repay you for everything? I want to protect you just once and I want to be strong for you too.....You've had so many chances of happiness and yet, you've turned your back to everyone opportunity.....I feel like that's my fault....So I want to make it up to you. Just wait until I can Mother. I'll make you so proud!!.......I promise......
Amira Age: Sixteen
For the rest of the night, I sat in the rain that began to pour minutes after I found the only mother I ever had in my life dead. But by that time everything began to turn hazy. The only thing I really remember doing was huddling close to Mother's neck with the strange gold sword close beside me. I wanted to be upset and deny that she was still alive, even cry about it but I couldn't bring myself to no matter what I tried. It felt like I couldn't even move from my spot; like my body didn't want me to move. As the time passed my vision began to grow blurrier and dizzier. Slowly sitting up to my knees, I slowly skimmed the nearby trees in the forest while unintentionally releasing a hoarse cough. My throat was killing me now and my head was throbbing horribly. "Maybe I should go find someone.....Urgh...." I weakly whispered, rising to my knees and coughed more viscously and rapidly then before. I found myself falling backwards onto Mother out of plain fatigue and weariness. I took a moment to slowly rise up again and inch away from the corpse on the ground, scanning the sky above to look for Regjis while still clutching the golden sword. But how would I find him if he was still in his other form? He would blend in with the sky. "Amira? Amira!" A voice suddenly startled me into glancing back. For that moment I thought that I had made the mistake into think that my mother was dead, but just too weak to answer me. But disappointment overtook me when I saw her still lying the way I found her. Tears began to stubbornly flow from my eyes as I desperately fought to hold them back. "Amira!" The voice called to me once more, followed by a hand on my left shoulder. I turned back forward and found myself staring into the face of Regjis, who wore a look of worry, yet at the same time relief. He looked behind me to the corpse of my mother just feet behind us and silently glanced to me. "Regjis..... She's dead...." I began weakly with a tone of fatigue and grief. "Sa....Sanuk stabbed her and now my mother's dead...." I weakly continued and took a step closer to him. My body felt so strained and began to shake slightly from being under the influence of the rainfall. Suddenly my eyesight began to fade away while feeling my body fall forward onto Regjis. "Amira?!" He blurted with worry as he wrapped his arms around me to keep me supported. "You've been out here in the rain this whole time?" He said while bringing the back of his left hand to my forehead, only to pull away hastily. "Amira you're burning up! We need to get inside! The fire was finally put out. Not much was damaged luckily." At that moment I didn't really understand what he was talking about. Most likely an effect from being vulnerable to the rain. "Regjis......." I whispered to him. I closed my eyes and found myself blacking out. "Amira!........." Regjis called out to me. This was the last conscious thing I heard that night from him. As I slowly awoke later on in the morning, I found myself lying on a cushiony surface that felt soft and distinctly familiar. Squinting my eyes slightly open, I flinched in shock as great beams of light flooded from a nearby source. I assumed it was a window and glanced around. I seemed to be in the conference room lying my silk pillow I usually sat on. Looking around, I saw Regjis leaning against the bottom of the pillow for support while sleeping. "Ehhh......What..happened?" I slowly murmured, sitting up in the process. My head ached like someone was relentlessly pounding it and my throat felt so scratchy and sore. "Well well...About time you got up." Colt's voice seeped behind me. I turned my head slightly back to see him leaning back against the nearest wall with his arms crossed behind his head. Sienna was sleeping against his leg with her doll, Lucinda in her arms. "Colt....Where.." "Don't worry woman. After you went to look for your mother, your friends got the fire under control." He stated with an unworried tone. He released a long yawn and closed his eyes to a squinting stare. "Not much was damaged really except a guest room or something like that......You know it's been almost two days that you've been sleeping?" "What? Are you kidding me?" I asked skeptically. "What has everyone been doing?!" "Let's see....Lizard boy has been here since he brought you back from the forest. This is the first time he's actually slept. Munchkin here has been pestering me and following me, calling me a girl horse. Those two twins have been pranking anyone that comes near them. The giant couple retrieved your mother and buried her. And I've just lingered around I suppose." "Oh.....Lilica and Risfu buried my mother...without me?" I asked feeling a bit hurt and upset. Couldn't they have at least waited for me..to say goodbye?.... "...It was for the better. You might be upset about that now but you'll understand someday. Not that it's really my place to say so...." Colt coolly responded and shrugged his shoulders. "Lilica. You look pale, ya? So somethings gotta be wrong, ya know?" "Risfu! I've told you a hundred times already it seems like. I'm fine! Honestly!" The voices of Lilica and Risfu came closer and closer as each word was said. Immediately after a wooden door cracked open slowly and following after came Risfu and Lilica walking into the conference room. Risfu grasped Lilica's right hand in his palm and focused on her abnormal sallow complex. Lilica on the other hand wore a look of annoyance as she came closer to my resting spot. "Well my shift is over. See ya." Colt carefully lifted Sienna off of his knees and slowly placed her back onto the ground while raising to his knees. He then hastily walked out of the room, lifting his left hand up to wave goodbye. "Amira? Are you alright?" Lilica softly asked, placing her index finger on my forehead. "Your temperature has gone down it seems." "Yes....I feel a little better...." I weakly answered. Getting a closer look at Lilica's face, she did appear a lot paler then usual. Maybe a side effect from her pregnancy? I wonder if she's said anything Risfu yet about that. "I guess you want to know about Gana...." "Colt already told me that you two buried her...without me.." "Oh Amira.....I know you feel left out but.." "Kiddo. We had to put your mother to rest, ya? I understand that you really loved her too and stuff, but it was hard for us to bury her without you there, ya know? You weren't in any condition to be out there with us and I think the faster it was done without any delays, the easier it would be for all of us. We still haven't had a funeral yet. Not until you're ready to." "Oh....I understand......Thanks Risfu." "Don't mention it, ya?" "I've brought you some new clothes Amira. Do you want to take a bath?" I thought for a moment and stared blankly at the clothing Lilica laid in her palm for me. Now that she mentioned it, I did feel like a bath was necessary at the moment and nodded slightly to her. "Yes. My hair feels so greasy....ew....." "I'll take you there then." Lilica answered happily and held her giant hand to my reach, which I slowly stepped into and sat to the side. Despite my still throbbing head, I really was starting to feel better. Before taking off at a stride, Lilica gave a short but sweet peck on the lips to Risfu. She stepped through the great wooden doors once more and began to pace in the direction of the indoor hot springs. It wasn't long ago since Mother decided to install a new bathing method in the fort. It seemed kind of odd to chose a hot spring of all things, but it was well worth. After only a few short minutes of walking, Lilica halted and pushed open a new giant wooden door. Laying her palm flat against the ground, she waited for me to get off before handing me the clothing and two pairs of towels. One would be for drying off and the other for use in the hot spring. "Be careful Amira. I'll give you a brush when you're done. Ok?" "Alright Lilica. I won't take too long and thanks." I smiled warmly to her before hastily walking inside with the clothing and towels in my arms. Once I was inside, I quickly set the clothes neatly on the ground far away from the water's reach and began to strip off my own clothing off. After everything was taken off, I wrapped the towel snuggly around my body and slowly approached the steaming water. I briskly placed both legs in the warm tingling water and waded in deeper a few moments later until being waist deep. I took a deep breath and dunked my head underneath for a few seconds. My throat began to feel eased and less sore now. As soon as I brought my head back above the water I raised an eyebrow after hearing someone's distinct humming echoing in throughout the hot spring. Who could be in here and how long were they here? I quietly waded closer to the source of the voice and hid behind a near rock to look for the voice's owner. Turning my head to glimpse around the rock, I nearly jumped back in surprise to see Colt idly lying in the water (with a towel on thank goodness.) He looked up and glanced around wearily for a few moments before lying back down in assurance. I don't know how long he laid lifelessly, floating in the water. But eventually he rose to his feet and stretched his arms and legs; his towel loosening with each movement. I had a foreboding sense building up, growing with anxiety as soon as the large blue cloth fell from his body. I couldn't help to give a small shriek in surprise the instant I saw. What I expected to see wasn't even close to the surprise held in store the instant the towel left. Colt didn't exactly have a guy's body. Colt wasn't even a man.......Colt....was....a.. woman.
