Hello! I recently got my YoSD! He's an Ayumu.
I'm a complete n00b to this BJD world, at least when it comes to restringing, customizing, sewing, crafting.

Just wondering if there are other YoSD owners in here I can befriend, and hopefully get some experienced ones to help me with my little one also, if possible x_X;

Any friends and help is appreciated!
Any experienced mentor that is willing to take me under his/her wing, is more than welcome! ;D

P.S. Yes, this is a cry for help. ;_______________________;

Congrats! I just got an Ayumu myself actually. The rest of my battalion are-- I guess, SD sized dolls, which in a strange way aren't really all that different.

Uhh what do you need help with exactly? :};
PostPosted: Fri Apr 04, 2008 7:47 pm

@Ephemeral_Dream: Thanks! ;] Oh yeah, already did n_n

@Toya the Unlucky: Thanks! ;D Oh, cool!!! n_______________n
I'm still uncertain if I should get another Yo-sized to keep my Ayumu company, or get an SD instead >_>'

Well, he's a little loose. Can't pose as well as I'd like him to.
So, I was wondering how to un-string him and then re-string him.
Please keep in mind that I'm a totally n00b regarding BJDs when it comes to customizing haha. +is also paranoid+ x_X;

And he's my first one lol.

I just changed his eyes last night. The image is in my profile n_n

He's cute, haha. :} Mine's here if you're curious.

Ohhh I know I'm getting at least one other Yo (Piccolo... heck, maybe another Ayumu/Tanpopo boy, it's an awesome mold), but the jump between SD and Yo is pretty crazy, haha. Not saying they're a bad thing or it's a bad idea-- it's just real surprising. :]

Yeah, I can understand the whole restringing thing thing to be pretty daunting. Actually, all Yo's I've heard of are actually pretty loosely strung, mine's the same. Just takes a little more patience to pose him the way I want him to, but otherwise it works out.

DoA would probably explain the whole unstringing/restringing thing better than I can, but yeah it's down for now.. All I can really say is unstringing is easier than restringing, and with restringing, you might need 'tools' (actual string pullers but even paperclips, string/ribbon and pencils could work out) to help you out with the process.

Thanks ;D
And OMG!!! Yours is adorable!!! <3

Here's a full body one of my boy

He's not finished yet though. I need to find a wigmaker and a seamstress, so I can change his overall look to what I want him to look like lol.
Don't you find, getting YoSD boy clothes, kind of challenging? x______X;

About the stringing thing, yeah, a lot of ppl have been telling me that same thing. That they come loosely strung. ;d
So, I guess I can stop being paranoid now lol.

And I agree! I was gonna get Tanpopo also, but then it got me thinking... should I get two of the same mold? or should I wait for new upcoming molds instead? But then I was like... "well, let's try one first". Since I'm a newbie. So, once I get a hang on Ayumu, I'll think of the second one to come haha.

You have SDs? ;]

Thanks! :}

Ohh yeah, it's really hard, argh. I sort of caved in-- trying to attempt to sew. Oh god, going very badly, hahaha-- But at least he isn't wearing my bigger guy's clothes anymore.

Ah, they don't come out with Yo's very often. And they're usually lottery only, which is pretty damn annoying if you ask me. But yeah, might as well get the hang of having one. xD

Ohh yeah, I've got 6 larger dolls. Hahahaha.... And about two floating heads, one on the way. :];

Hey, I replied to your other thread in the Lotus Guild. ^-^
Luckily it's a bit easier to restring a tiny than a larger doll. If it really intimidates you, things should go perfectly smooth if you get someone to help (an extra pair of hands makes all the difference).

I'm such an SD sized fan, so I say go SD sized if you really want that kind of doll. It can still keep your Yo company.
(Here is a picture of my big boy and my roommate's Ayumu, they are quite attached. It's really cute photographing them.)

I have a Chinatsu on a tenshi body, and my Papi (and Puff) will be arriving on friday. X3

YoSDs are so addictive! I also have 4 MSDs and 6 SDs. My little girl is strung pretty well, but I also prefer my dolls to be more loose. Teatime tried restinging her Anne and had a very difficult time with it- because of the size and tension of the elastic it is more difficult to work with than the elastic in larger dolls.

I agree that boy yo clothes are difficult to find, which is why I usually just use ken clothes for when my girl wants to dress casually/tomboyish. although ken dolls are getting more difficult to find, and its even harder to find ken's optional outfits. >__<

@Toya the Unlucky: Lol. I'm trying to sew lol.
I'm still thinking it's easier to commission a seamstress x_X;
But the good ones are usually full. So =_='

6? Whoa. I think that's a lot lol. I'm not sure I can handle that many lol.

@Elle Hazard: Oh Hiya! ;D
Ah yes, I'm hoping that's true n_n

Aaaawwww, they look damn cute together in that photo! And yes, I guess you're right. I was just planning to get my boy an "older brother" lol.
I'm thinking MSD though. o_o

@Legato bluesummers: Whoa, 3 little ones lol. And I thought one was a handful lol. I hope to see pictures of the trio n_n

Yeah, loose is ok, I just think mine's a little too loose x_X;
You have 4 MSDs and 6 SDs? x_X;;; Shouldn't that be too rough of your pocket? ._O;

Lol, yeah, hard to find ken clothes. But on the other hand, I like them to have their own personalities show through what they wear, so I rather get custom clothing for them. Which, now that I think of it, I should start sketching the design while I find a seamstress ;_________________;

Hello! Well, Congrats!

Can you post some pictures of the body of your YO-SD (if you don't mind!) I'm very interested in a YOSD but I've never seen a YOSD body >-<

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience!

FYI - some Ken clothes (shorts and shirts) will fit a YoSD. Pants you'd have to trim down - but for the most part Ken clothing fits YoSDs pretty well for those of you who don't want to actually sew. biggrin

Other good sources are those Ty teenager doll things - some of the clothing on those is unisex enough for a YoSD boy, though a lot of it is pretty girly.

Dollheart sells a lot of good seperates for YoSDs that can be worn by boys - and eBay is always an option as well.
