 Yves huffed lightly as she dropped her body down beside the waterhole she was lucky enough to come across, finally taking a break.
It felt as if she'd been running for weeks, when in truth it was only a day or two. It was on luck alone that she escaped from the horrible slavery in which she'd been raised.
Still, luck or skill, she was happy to be free, and such a feeling was so foreign to her. Happiness. When had she last felt such a thing? Not since her brother had left their hell to make use of the powers he was granted.
With a sigh, she let herself roll over into the shallow water, relaxing into the sudden, and very much needed, coolness around her. Though she seemed every bit relaxed and carefree, there was a heave tension in her muscles, ears perked to listen for anything around her.
She would be off running once again in an instant if she needed to be.

Ryuuko paced towards the smell of water, his dainty paws light against the ground. Yellow eyes wandered the environment around him with an aborbed sort of excitement, taking in the sheer novelty of it all. Everything was new, everything was strange and wonderful! Spending his life in one place, always afraid, had robbed him of so much experience... so many things he'd missed out on.
Well, things were different now, and he was so grateful for it. When he finally came out on the water, he grinned and trotted to the small pool, crouching down beside it to lap up the cool liquid. A little purr rumbled in his throat, the young male pleased beyond words. Lovely day, lovely weather, lovely scenery, and now a lovely drink of cool water. Could life get better? Maybe, but he was content with his lot in life at the moment.

Cobalt hues focused on the lion as he approached, shifting cautiously to get out of the water without notice. She didn't feel any hate, or anger from him though... No, he felt so much more like herself.
She settled on the edge of the water, watching him warily a long moment before finally attempting to speak.
" H... " She frowned, taking a deep breath, before trying again, her voice softened by years of not being used. " Hello... "

The young male started when the soft voice spoke out, jerking his head up to make the beaded headdress he wore bounce against his cheeks. Eyes wide and ears perked, he looked around for the source, finding it in a shy seeming, inconspicuous little canine by the water's edge. He blinked at her for a long moment, tense as though prepared to run, before he forced himself to slowly relax, a soft smile coming to his face.
"Hello there." He said, his voice gentle and shy. "I hope I'm not bothering you... um, Miss. I just stopped for some water. I was thirsty and it just looked too good to pass up... though, if I'm in the way, I can leave." His tail flicked gently as he lifted a paw to his mouth to wipe away the water from his jaws, adjusting his headdress back into place so it fell right. He was quite proud of it, having made it himself. Every so often, he replaced the withered flowers with new ones, letting him keep a fresh and interesting look.

She blinked in surprise, not expecting to come across someone as timid as herself. Slowly, she smiled as well, quickly shaking her head.
" N- no.. You're not bothering me... I was only just passing through as well... " She let her eyes fall back to the water for several long minutes, before shyly returning her eyes to him.
" Yves Arye.. Ah.. My name, that is.. It's Yves... " She slowly trailed off in embarrassment at mixing her words up, quickly looking back down.
" I.. What's.. you name..? " She managed to asked after another moment, keeping her eyes on the water.

The blue male blinked for a moment at the sudden introduction, then a smile spread over his face. He sat back as he nodded gently.
"Ryuuko. Its truly a pleasure to meet you, Yves. That's a pretty name you have, it suits you." He chuckled gently, his soft ears perked. "Where are you from, Yves? Do you live around here?"
Birthplaces did kind of fascinate him. The world was so big, and the more he traveled and talked to others, the bigger it got to him. He'd never really met or talked with other species before and he found himself wondering where wild dogs like her lived. Did they live in places like lions did? There might even have been wild dogs in the place he'd been born, and he wouldn't have even known!
