-Emerald eyes searched the grasslands, as young adult feet carried him further and further away from his homeland. What he was searching for he didn't know exactly, but whatever it was had been strong enough to pull him for nearly a day's journey. And without even telling his dearest twin... What a strange notion, a tug so strong and yet no clue what it was that was tugging. Well... atleast he'd know once he'd found it.

Shaking his ebony mane lightly, so that the few long hairs drifted away from his sight, the navy lion began to walk once more, watching as the grasses slowly began to yellow, fading and shortening as he drew nearer and nearer to where the sands would overtake them.

Perhaps it was that right b***h of a female? She said she was a seer too, princess and daughter of some goddess or what not. Perhaps she had some power to inflict over him. His maw drew an unpleasant scowl as the memory of her crimson fur touched him, claws dragging up dirt beneath him. Well if it WAS her, she was going to be in for it this time.-

Matching green eyes narrowed in irritation, glaring across the horizon, tail lashing with each step. The days following his own death and rebirth had done little to improve his mood. Anger still burned from his defeat as his brother's paws, his snarl growing darker with each shock that shot through his wings, the unbearable pain that mocked him with each waking moment.

His tail snapped, fur ruffling, ears turned to catch the sound of approaching footsteps. Irritating, he was not in the mood to deal with immortals, and in even less of the mood to deal with mortals, especially those foolish enough to cross his path.

It was a flash of familiar blue that caught his attention, his posture immediately aggressive, fangs bared in a snarl as images of his death flashed into his mind. But no, it could not have been his brother, that presence he would have felt long before that infernal color met his eyes. And yet, there was no mistaking it, that hide could have come from none other than Mrost.

Well then, the mortal had gained his attention at the very least, though his temperament was another matter.

-It took him a little longer to notice the 'small' and familar figure, only really noticing as that strange appendage of a wing cut into his tracing of the horizon, striking him still. Pristine white, bold gold.

His eyes gazed across the distance at the matching green eyes, and for a moment he felt just as he had when he'd first run into mother again, blinking once, twice, to make sure this was not just some delusion of the heat.

But no there it was. He looked smaller.. but it was just a trick of the distance wasn't it? Could it be, could it really be?

A triumphant roar sounded from him, too far yet to make out the more aggressive looks coming from Tanaka. Changing his path, he padded forward quickly, breaking the distance between the two, slowly only when he realized how close they were, and how much smaller this other creature was. Not smaller then him.. but not the towering beast that was his father.-

Eyes narrowed, talons flexing in paws he had long since outgrown, his gaze focused on the familiar blue. Tanaka did not recognize the lion beyond the blue hide, the markings and eyes that resembled his own, did not recognize the lion as his son, the memories of that time lost in his rebirth. His aggression subsided for the moment, though it still burned just beneath, his gaze drifted over the stranger. To have been born with such a hide, this lion must be a child of Mrost.

He snorted, tail lashing in the anger that surfaced at the mere thought of the name. Disgusting, his brother always had been far to eager to spend the night with whatever lioness crossed his path. How infuriating that this one also bore his own markings.

"Who are you?"

His voice was cold, unfamiliar, a demand more than a question, his thin patience biting at the edge. This lion looked far too much like him than he cared for, and he wanted to know why.

-His confusion was only confounded as the voice ripped through the air, and as Ahai paused his muscles shifted quite obviously preparing himself incase he needed it.

The size, the question. Though his teeth remained cautiously visable Ahai was otherwise silent as he attempted to rationalize what was before him. It was not his father. And yet the similarities were so similar it was remarkable. Far too similar. Eyes narrowing on those stunted wings finally kicked him over the edge.

It was a brother wasn't it? His father had not only left them.. but then had bore children... god children? Before he could stop it a growl began to rumble from his young chest. Mother had already left them again. Were they not good enough for father either!?

Pain and anger laced his mind, fogging out any chance at rationalization. This 'brother'.. how he wanted to hurt it. How he wanted to slice and dice this young god until his father realized just how much he'd given up and missed. Perhaps he couldn't hold his own with the gods. But he wasn't merely trash. He wouldn't let anyone tell him he was.

Teeth parting he glared back at the carbon copy of his father, losing any notion of the fact that this god, young or not was quite capable of ending his life. Through gritted teeth he stated that mantra that had gotten him through his life, that had created the overly proud young lion he was. It would probably be the last time he'd use it after all. - "Ahaiyuta. Son of the Prideland princess and the God of Conflict."

"The real question is who you are?" -If looks could kill, the venom resounding in Ahai's voice and gaze might have knocked young Tanaka down.-

Aggression was met in kind, tail lashing, his own fangs bared, glinting in a malicious snarl, talons raking into the earth as if in hunger to tear into that blue hide. A low growl fell from his jaws, rumbling like thunder before the storm, the fire of rage burning in green eyes. Smaller though he may have been, his once massive size lost in the form of a cub, Tanaka did not fear the lion before him, neither impressed nor intimidated by the threat

It was infuriating, fury boiling at the mere sight of that infernal blue, images of his death flashing in his mind, memories of life past fueling his eternal hatred. Horrendous creature, there was his brothers hide, but it bore his markings, his ears, his paws, his streaks, and the dorsal stripe, his green eyes, even the gold of his tail. It was an abomination, as if some creature with an infernal sense of humor had thought to combine his brother and himself in one child, he snorted in disgust at the very thought.

His muscles tensed, coiled to strike, feathers ruffled with dark energy, the shadow of his fury surrounding him.

"I -am- Conflict!"

Despicable creature, he would teach him the consequence of such lies, would show him the true terror of conflict.

-An unending circle. Ahaiyuta strengthened his stance once more as the young god matched his, for he certainly wasn't the sort to back down. And though those hisses, bared claws, and dangerous gazes passed back and forth he made no motion to initiate the first attack. That is, until Tanaka's declaration sounded.

The hair on his back rippled and stood, growl evolving into a roar of protest. Instinctively his front legs began to bow and shift as his body tightened and prepared to pounce. It took only the briefest of moments for the whole motion to go through, the coil and spring of a well trained and practiced body as he lunged brashly at the familar stranger. His teeth bared, intent on biting down on the first flesh that offered itself to him, his voice echoing his anger as he drew nearer and nearer.- "Perhaps an abomination from his loins! But you are not him!"

-How was he to know after all...? To know that this beast familar and yet foreign both in vision and treatment was the one in which he held highest? Would he even come to know? Or would that secret remain forgotten as the sand soaked up the blood and last breathe of one of them.-

His own snarl exploded in a roar, echoing from his chest as from the darkest pits of hell, his maw parted, infernal fangs bared, talons erupting from paws. Stupid creature, mindless and impetuous, far too ruled by his own temper. It would prove a deadly move, challenging conflict, a price he would find too high to pay.

"You whine like a child, it must be a trait of that blue hide, I'm sure my dearest brother must be so proud!"

Words spoken in disgust, echoing within his roar, the herald to his own charge. The beast lunged, charging the creature in his fury, murderous intent in his eyes. In his burning rage, the god did not attack blindly as his opponent, strategy over brute force, a lesson he had been painfully reminded of.

Seizing on the advantage of size, his smaller bulk lighter, swifter than he once had been, the god ducked beneath the strike, circling his prey to strike at flank, talons slashing at vulnerable underside, jaws snapping to catch a leg to knock the creature of balance, to drag it to earth for an easy strike at neck and eyes.

-Funny, that he had never met the blue monster that tormented his father, the one that he now was being compared too. Perhaps lucky as well? But he had heard of him both from Kiuma, Matsai's dreams, and through more unreliable ways.

He slid past ungracefully as Tanaka manuevered out of the way, and focused his attack. Like a fish to a net, as he found his body overturned as teeth clamped hard on his back leg. His free back leg kicked and attempted to shield his stomach from an open attack, as his body curled uncomfortably upwards swatting and attempting to latch onto that face that gripped him in place.

And as he drew nearer to the beast, he almost made the life threatening mistake of pausing. He looked identical yes, but now his scent? That soft and subtle scent that seperated each individual from each other. Even he and Matsai, as close as they might be had those subtlities. That scent that had been burned into his memory as a boy through hunting trips, through his cub nights curled vunerably near his mother and father. It was the scent he'd been searching for since his childhood..

His mind flashed back to the brief memories of that last night, to the vision that had woken him and sent him out into the night. Brillant blue on white, the red brown splatterings of blood all about.

His eyes narrowed, his body shifting as a realization hit him. Right or wrong he testing the notion, claws withdrawling, leaving behind only the force in his blows as his voice hissed.- "What has happened to you Tanaka?"

The limb caught in his jaws, the beast shook, the powerful jerk of his neck pushing fangs deeper, tearing at flesh and hide with vicious ferocity. An angry snarl as talons touched his own hide, his body turned, limbs braced against the kick that fell hard on his shoulder.

He had sensed it, that brief moment of hesitation, the hint of doubt, the falter in aggression clear even before the talonless strike fell. He seized the opportunity, circling but a step before he lunged again, striking high in his leap, talons reaching for shoulder, jaws snapping at the muscle behind the lion's neck. If he could get above, onto the lion's back, his weight would be enough to keep the blue beast pinned to the earth, or at least keep him off balance, beyond the reach of fangs and talons, it would be far easier to land his own strike at that vulnerable flesh between neck and jaw.

"Do I haunt your dreams, child of war?"

It was a taunt, dripping like venom from clenched jaws. Were he truly the child of an immortal he could find his own answers through his dreams, they would not be so easily handed to him.

And yet there was something familiar about this lion, beyond the physical traits he had inherited, the temper so like both brothers. Why, why did it feel he knew this creature when it held no memory, the children of his past life forgotten? It was infuriating, how did his brother continue to haunt him?!

-He sucked in air with a heavy hiss as pain rippled through his body, light flashing before his eyes. This wasn't his first rodeo, he'd been in scraps of varying severity since he was little, but then his father wasn't just any other combatant. The strength of the god and the multiple lifetimes of experience were putting Ahai at a disadvantage, and for a moment he realized just how foolish his brashness had been this time.

If only Matsai had been here too. Surely the two of them could have broughten the god down.. or more likely figured out just what in the hell was going on. This was his father wasn't it? If not, he was going to look really damn stupid at the end of this, IF he lived. But just as that brashness had led him into the fight, that same brashness clung to the new 'truth'. Despite any painful notions that he'd been forgotten, and was now labeled in the same level as his uncle. Attention sorely divided, he was unable to completely avoid Tanaka's strategic attack, faltering in step as the heavy weight tugged at his back and his balance.-

"Only childhood dreams of the clash of War and Conflict that tore my father away. How torn and ragged you were that night, when you told me to go back home."

-Any pain or digging that had been in his voice escaped as Tanaka spit another insult his way and his voice betrayed him, spitting out that only feelings of true anger that'd ever touched him despite his overbearing pride for his father.- "Maybe if you hadn't turned me away we could have dispatched of War. Or do you prefer this tiny, weak form?"

-His shoulders drew forward with instinct, trying to hide his neck as much as possible, and quite ungracefully he tried to shake off the heavy white creature. Staggering to and fro, shaking his back with violent force Ahai finally allowed his body to fall along with Tanaka's weight hoping to pin some part of his opponnent under his side, and turn the attack against him.-

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The god was relentless, talons curling to grasp at blue hide despite the violent struggles against him, unwilling to yield his advantage, his breath a hiss as jaws snapped at a dark ear, surely it would bring the creature to his knees where he to tear it from his infernal skull.

"Smaller perhaps, but far from week!"

A growl thundered the fire of his fury, tail lashing with each slash of is talons, with the blood that dripped from his jaws, the burn of the marks in his own hide. He would not fall prey to cheep tricks, springing from his opponent's back as he fell, landing free of the weight that threatened to pin him to the earth. Loathe as he was to release his prey, to surrender the advantage he had held, his death had reminded him of the foolishness of blindly clinging to a weakness, it was a price he was unwilling to pay, and a mistake he would not make again.

"You know nothing of War and Conflict."

He spat his words onto the sand, talons lashing at the earth as he circled the blue creature, darkness surrounding him with each step, that hellish energy that carried fear and horror in its wake. The god of war could have never been called a father, his only acknowledgment of offspring his attempts to slaughter them, to wipe their existence from the earth. It was yet another reason to despise his brother, and perhaps one to pity the creature before him.

His own thoughts in torment, he continued to circle, eyes narrowed on the lion, muscles tensed to strike in an instant. Why did he feel so familiar, and why had the creature hesitated, surely this was not the peek of his strength. It nagged at the back of his mind like the shadow of time long past, yet he did not remember, why?! Could this creature have been--no, had he ever been a father, had he truly raised a child, he would have never sought it harm, would not have simply left, then why?

He snarled in frustration, his voice less demanding, less venomous, though no less harsh than it had been before.

"Who are you?"

-Ahai was mildly dissapointed as Tanaka jumped to freedom, having thwarted his attempt to capture him. However the dissapointment was short lived as it gave the blue lion an oppurtunity to right himself, and put up a defense once more.

His paws stood strong, his body crouching both in defense and incase he found it necessary to lunge forward again. Blood dripped and seeped from his leg, his ear twinged as if it were on fire. His eyes narrowed and he braced himself once more, a rumbling growl the only answer to the white god's assertions.

His muscles rolled back and forth as Tanaka began to circle, tense and full of life as he waited for the next attack to come. It was as if they were subconciously trying to make him either flee or spring forward once more in combat. However his ears lifted minutely as his confusion seemed to pass on to the other lion, voice lifting to repeat himself definatly. He didn't really know that it mattered, but if he were to die her, he'd might as well repeat that mantra of pride once again.- "Ahaiyuta. Twin of Matsailema. Son of Kiuma, princess of the Pridelands. Son of Tanaka, god of conflict."

The god snorted, his tail lashing with a snap, talons flexing furiously at the lion's words, low growl echoing in darkness. Lies! It could not be, that blue hide, it could have only come from Mrost. And yet as his gazed narrowed, green eyes found those that so matched his own, were he to only see those eyes he might have been looking at himself.

Was it possible? Had this child once been his, a child lost to a previous life? Were his own traits to pass on to a child of Mrost, then it was possible even that infernal blue hide could have passed on to his.

"If you seek answers, I have none. The lion that was once your father has since fallen and been reborn."

The snarl spread across his maw, the fire raging in his eyes, otherworldly, as if to pierce through the very soul of the creature who stood before him. There was no memory, no trace of the mate he may have found, of the children they may have shared. In its place there was nothing, no loss, no sorrow, no emptiness, for he could not lament what he could not remember, it simply wasn't there. And suddenly, the battle had lost its purpose, he grew tired of the game.

-His lips pulled back, barring teeth in weak silence once more as the sting of words spoken burned him to the core. For a moment he resembled his twin, body seemingly vacant of emotion while inside they churned and flared with unbearable intensity. Sadness. Anger. Mourning. Fear. Hopelessness. He wanted to run. And yet he wanted to be near his father. But then.. perhaps that was even more painful in itself. Painful and infurirating.

His father had died... something painful for every child, and yet here he stood again, and as if to rub grit into the wound Tanaka knew nothing of him now. The soft shiver of his legs was almost visable as his body lifted from it's crouch, standing once more. While Tanaka may have been blessed, it seemed Ahai would be cursed with the sorrow for both of them.

Air sucked in and out of his broad chest, the stings of wounds no longer phasing him, even as blood continued to drip and puddle on the sands beneath him. It was simply too much. He knew not whether to yell or cry, so instead he simply turned, having noted the subtle motions that qued him onto Tanaka's final disinterest in attacking him anymore.

He stepped away, one step and then two before his eyes turned back, body paused once more as the simple defeated question echo'd through the still air.- "What is it that killed you?"
