- Ruined Village -

User Image

The village of Shimagakure is located just on the borderline of the ocean. It is a small fishing community along with shinobi teaching grounds. The huts near the shore are rather shabby and constructed poorly since they tend to crumble under the strong winds of the typhoons that come in during the spring. The village that once stood tall, has crumbled under the attacks of the black spring events, most of the shops and stalls no longer exsist are are being rebuilt from scratch.

Baki perked up immediately when the smells of the village center surrounded him. He growled, though in a somewhat friendly manner ... though a growling lion was never conceived as friendly, especially when his partner wasn't with him. Baki ignored the people though, and continued to sniff. There was a faint smoldering scent in the air, and Baki was starting to remember more about this Sukotto fellow, more specifically, the scent of the boy. He was older than Maya, that he remembered, and had fought with them once. But now...where was he? Baki wondered if he was supposed to have been training with them in the forest...and then remembered the leeches. And then remembered his mental promise to inflict harm on the ANBU that had dragged them out into the middle of nowhere. Grr...

Baki started weaving his way through the people and towards the shoreline, where the scent was coming from. Except...it was stronger heading a different way, coming from the shore into the village. Baki picked his head up and took a deep breath, realizing that the boy must have gone to the office of the man training Maya. Baki turned around and headed towards the bamboo hut that was the kage's office, and though his path was cleared easily [who stands in front of a trotting lion?], he still took the time to note a few specific things here and there. Like how a little girl had just dropped a small stuffed...something...on the ground, and had escaped her mother to retrieve it. Like a lioness, the mother had swooped back and recovered her cub...Baki chortled and picked up his speed. The faster he found this kid, the faster he could get back to Maya.

Kore walked into the village with a little kick in his step. Almost bouncing with every step. He looked around and noticed that many people were not phased by his presence, was it because it was normal or that he was just not intimidating? While here the salt air was not as strong he could not place the exact smell of Baki or Maya. It was like all the smells in the island landed in the center of the village. Spinning and twisting he was picking up the scent but he did not know which way to go. He was getting spun around and he couldn't sense the exact trace. It was as if he was moving around the village. Kore laid his head low, but then he remembered the scolding he had gotten before. He picked it straight back up and continued to walk. He would find them but stopping wasn't an option.

Still on the move his shoulder blades extruding though his back he looked around with his golden orbs focusing on everything he passed his nose quickly at work. When he began to pass the path to the shoreline he picked up on a specific scent of the grounds. thinking he had found Baki so soon he picked up his pace and broke out into a full sprint ignoring people hopping they would jump out of the way of a charging lion. He was on to Baki hoping to see him before the night fell for surely he would be locked down by the large womans heavy set arms. That and the cold wind whipping through his light fluffy fur would cause him to freeze.

Returning from the shoreline breathing heavy all you could see was Kore's chest expanded and fall rapidly. The little cub was beginning to get very frustrated. Stopping for a moment to breath his nostrils increased with every intake of breath. He was growing tired of running from place to place. Taking a large intake of air he couldn't do it. He needed moment to take a breather before he began to search again, but in the busy streets of the village that wasn't an option for fear of being crushed. Thinking to himself he wonder where Baki would be. He knew by Maya's side but he knew nothing of Maya to make any assumption to where she would be at the moment.

Kore trotted away to the far end of the village his paws were growing filled with every surface of dirt on the island. Circling a tree he laid down for a spec he couldn't manage to breath barely. Letting go he drifted off slowly maintaining his still quick breathing it seemed to be slowing enough to hold pace. Closing his eyes he began to slowly regain his breathing. Why was he searching for Baki. Baki was his leader and had no time to entertain the thoughts of a cub. Kore did not understand nor think that way. He just wanted to see what the leader of the pride would be doing.

Kore stood from the offside of the village from the shade of a tree. he thought for a moment and the little time he spent with Maya she seemed to be always looking for a fight not just to fight but to make herself stronger then those around her. That did not help his decision any but he did pick up Baki's scent and for some reason it was masked by many others. he did not know what it was but it drew him towards the academy. Slinking his way through the people he found himself on his way away from all the village and up to the academy.

As Hanabira left the Yamanaka Hanaya, she sighed thankfully as she buttoned her jacket up to the top to make sure her bruises and scars around her neck were hidden from onlooking villagers. She had excused herself from a confrontation with Shinichi and his scary pet bird. Around her arm was a woven basket carrying the white and purple flowers of the bush clover. They had all wilted with the autumn winds, but the Yamanakas had been taking care of some in their shop. Hanabira had taken it upon herself to sell them to the villagers of Shimagakure for a breath of summer just before the winter season. When Hanabira had first been asked to do a job such as this, she had been shy and hid behind Hide while he talked to the people of the village. She felt rather sad doing this on her own, but it was something she wished to do. Since Hide was gone, she would be strong and help Yamanaka-san with the chores around the shop more than she did before. She would also make sure to support Kane-nii and learn everything she could to help carry on the name of the clan.

Her olive eyes looked around the village center for a good place to stand to sell the flowers. As she looked, she accidently bumped into a small child. "Gomen ne," Hanabira said to the little boy. As she bumped into him, the cloth that had been placed over the purple and white bush clover had fallen off slightly. Hanabira made sure to pull it back over and tuck it in as best as she could. It would be a shame if the flowers were to wilt while she was selling them. The Yamanakas were known for their beautiful flowers. Hanabira didn't want to scar up their good name by trying to sell wilted petals or damaged stems. Once the basket was fixed, Hanabira continued her way through the crowds to the center of the village where the fountain was. For the little girl, the fountain was a beautiful place. It was sad that the original fountain had been torn down during the attack from the pirates so many months ago, but the new one seemed to signify something beautiful. No matter how many times the village came under attack, they were still here and the fountain was still flowing. This thought made Hanabira's small soft pink lips to curl up in a smile.

As Hanabira set down her basket on the fountain for relief off her arm a stranger came up from behind her, gently tapping her on the back. Hanabira turned around with a wondering look on her face. "Hai?" she asked, wondering why the woman was addressing her. The woman smiled happily and pointed to the basket.

"You're Yamanaka Hanabira. You're selling some flowers from your shop right? May I take a look? I'm rather fond of your family's flowers," she said kindly to the young girl. Hanabira smiled softly, just a small upturn of her lips as she gave the woman a nod and lifted up the cloth from atop of the basket so she could see the beautiful petals of the white and purple bush clover.

"I have bush clovers today
," Hanabira explained, letting the woman know just what type of flower they were. The flowers had such a beautiful and strong smell to them when she lifted up the cloth that the woman could instantly smell them. Hanabira's olive eyes watched the woman as she closed her eyes and inhaled the scent.

"Reminds me of spring," she said happily, as she reached within her sleeve to take out her small coin purse. "Are they still three for one Ryo? I'll take two whites and a purple if you would be so kind," the woman said as she extended her hand with the Ryo out to Hanabira. Nodding, the young Yamanka accepted the woman's money and took three branches and wrapped them in an inexpensive cloth for the woman to take them home in. "Thank you very much, Hana-chan," the woman said as she turned to leave.

"Thank you for your business,"
Hanabira said in return as she bowed her head to her chest as the woman turned to leave. Her first sale seemed rather easy and Hanabira was glad.

Hanabira ran her fingertips over the coin that the woman had given her. She should've asked for her name. The woman knew her name, it was rude that she didn't know hers. Hanabira put the coin in her front pocket on her jacket. Taking the basket and hook it back around her fore arm Hanabira swallowed her nervous feelings and looked out into the crowds of people. "B-Bush clovers for sale," the girl said, trying to advertise her item through word of mouth. Some people would know who she was and what she was selling, but most people would not. She had been a quiet girl, hiding in Kane and Hide's shadows until now. There weren't any shadows to hide behind any longer since Kane was busy with squads and missions and Hide was gone. "Summertime flowers..." Hanabira spoke softly, trying to grab someone's attention to come and see what she had, but no one really looked her way. Her olive eyes looked down to the ground, making her look as helpless as she felt. It would be scary if that man from Tomoko's were to appear again. She hoped to never have another encounter like that again. Shaking her head, Hanabira tried to look around for someone that she may have recognized from the store that would be interested.

Looking through the crowds, Hanabira spotted a man that owned one of the noodle shops in Shimagakure. He had often come by the store to buy flowers for his bar. "Mm, White and Purple bush clovers," she said, her olive eyes following the man and hoping that she could pull his attention over towards her. The man turned his head and smiled towards her. She had managed to get his attention to take a look. "Good evening," Hanabira said quickly, bowing as he approached her from the fountain.

"Good evening. You have some new flowers from your family's shop?" he asked curiously, hoping to see what was in the basket. "I'm a fan of the white jasmine that you sell there. What do these bush clovers look like?" he asked, hoping that they would match the new white bowls he had purchased from the potter for his store.

"Mm," Hanabira nodded, answering his first question about selling new flowers. Lifting up the cloth, she let the man take a look at the flowers. "They're different from the jasmine that you usually buy, but... they're rather pretty and stem higher," Hanabira said, hoping that would convince him to buy them.

The man was silent for the moment. He was looking at the flower and how different they were form the ones he normally picked up. They had more stem than flower, but the flowers accented the beauty more than took the full picture. "Alright, how much?" the man said, digging into his pocket to pull out his small money bag. Hanabira's face lit up as she heard the words come out of is mouth that he would like to buy them.

"One Ryo for three," Hanabira said as the man gave her one Ryo and she pulled out three white ones for him. "Mm, White?" she asked making sure that he did in fact want to keep his trend of all white. The man let out a hearty laugh and nodded, glad that the girl could remember what flowers he usually bought and what flowers he liked. That was good service in his book. "Thank you very much. Hope to see you again," Hanabira said, to the man with a bow of her head as he took his wrapped flowers.

"Thank you, Yamanaka-chan. Have a good evening and don't catch cold out here," the man said, happy with his purchase. It was always nice to try something new and that little girl with the freckles had convinced him to do so.

With the Ryo being tucked away in her jacket pocket, Hanabira realized that the white bush clover were selling much easier than the purple. She wondered why people were more attracted to the white flowers than the deep purple. It was autumn and white was a counter color that was rather pretty to look at. Purple was a cool color that didn't bring as much joy as white. Either way, Hanabira still thought the purple clovers were beautiful. Maybe if they didn't sell when she was done here in the village, she would put them in her room. There were many paintings and patterns of flowers in Hanabira's room, but not actual ones.

With a determined thought to get the next person to buy some purple ones, Hanabira tried to pick another person out who was passing by. "Summer bush clovers for sale," she said softly, her olive eyes trying to connect with someone's. She managed to grab one pair of eyes, but they quickly looked away from her and continued on their way. That took a stab at Hanabira's confidence, but she remembered how many times Hide would get turned down by people, but he would just continue to speak with them on a friendly note. Sometimes it changed a person's mind, but other times he would walk away with just another friend. Hanabira wasn't that good at making friends yet...
