- Shimagakure Shinobi Library - The library of Shimagakure doesn't have much variety. The books that are kept on the shelves are those of villagers and writings of the ninja masters that live here. There are many bookcases lining the wall, and recently Douken Kurochi has taken over the care for the library. He keeps the books well-kept so that they do not rot. He is pensive, kind, and likes his peace. Even with the destruction of the library, the library was kept as safe as it could be, holding all the important documents and articles that any shinobi would need. A raging fire was attempted to torch the building, but there was only minor damages done to the building, and only a few stacks of books had been destroyed in the process.
Sneaking Into the Library Spy DC: 40 Special: No one's inside the library once the sun goes down. DC= 30 during nighttime hours.
Owner: Semblance Name: Douken Kurochi Age: 32 Sex: Male Background: A historian of the Douken clan, he has memorized the entire writen history of the clan, as well as the lineage of all the main families of the clan. He arrived in Shimagakure some time within the Year 102 in his pursuit to learn the history of other cultures, making it his duty to learn as much about the island-village as he could, since it included such a wide variety of people, which meant it had a wide variety of knowledge. Personality: Kurochi likes to choose his words wisely. To say that he overthinks is an understatement. If he is asked a question, even if it only has a yes or no answer, he will take a moment to consider all possibilities in his mind before answering, and then only giving as little of an answer as humanly possible. He may sometimes simply make a gesture rather than give a verbal answer. He is unsure of himself most of the time, but very defensive when it comes to his knowledge of historical and current events. He also loves flowers and rarely goes anywhere without a fresh flower pinned to his shirt. He will read any kind of book at least once, although he can spend an entire day studying a single book, not because it's difficult, but to fully understand its meaning. Skills: Kurochi has a photographic memory, but it takes him a bit of time to recall specific details because of all the books he has read. His favorite hobby is botany. "Uh..." a small annoyed groan came from the little minty haired girl lying on the floor. Instinctively, her small hand went up to her head to feel the small bump that had formed on the back of her head. 'Did I pass out?' Tanu asked herself as she pushed herself up off the floor. Looking around, she remembered that she had been in the library organizing the books. Feeling a bit dizzy, Tanu held onto the top of the desk as her shaking legs managed to push her to a full stand. At first she was bewildered, wondering why she had passed out so easily and then she was pissed. All she had done today was organize some stupid books! There shouldn't be any reason as to why- Tanu stopped her rampage towards herself when she noticed that the librarian was gone. She didn't see him standing around anywhere. Had he left her there when she passed out? What a b*****d! Grabbing her book off the desk, which was opened to the page that the man was reading from, Tanu made a break for the doors. She had some training to do! Her stamina wasn't that weak! She would prove it! She would train hard while the others were playing around and waiting for the teacher in school. Tanu would show them! She didn't need some irresponsible adult lecturing her. One class with that Tenmoki hag was all she needed! Tanu would take her time and find the ingredients for the black powder that Tomoko told her to make tomorrow. Today she would train her body! Sprinting like she had done so many times, Tanu would run away from the village towards a place that no one else would be, so she could train as hard as she could without interruption.

As Kiba walked through the village towards the library he took out his trusty wooden practice sword and swung it through the air. He figured that since he would be training at the library this might be the only "real" training he would get. He made several diagonal slices and a jab before finally entering the library. It smelled of old books and scrolls to the Raiken, not rotten, just old. He looked around, but could not be sure if anyone was there as they could esily be hidden by on of the rows of books. He sighed as he wondered what they could be doing in the library and continued to take practice swings.

Shin had calmed himself down to the point where he was breathing steady and back to his normal self. Looking ahead at the library, he saw Kiba head inside with his practice sword. It made Shin think that perhaps he should take up a weapon as well, but he didn't give much thought to it. Opening the doors and following in after the Raiken, Shin shot his hand up in a greeting to the other boy. "Good morning," he said with that squinty-eyed smile on his face. "The sensei not here?" Shin asked, looking around the library to see if he spotted anyone. He checked behind the bookshelves, near the desk and towards the back where all the musty old papers were lying about in a single room. Once he was done investigating, Shin came back out to where Kiba was swinging his sword. Shin thought he should follow the Raiken's example and practice some skills himself while waiting for the teacher to arrive. He still hadn't finished his training for bunshin. He remembered that his next set of training was actually creating the clone... As he put his hands in the seal, he turned his head to Kiba. "Say, Kiba, what made you take up sword training?" the boy asked just out of curiousity. Was it something his clan was into? Or was it something he just really wanted to study?

Karite came strolling in with Kore close to his side. While the academy teachers told him to ask permission Kore was his friend and friends stayed by each others side no matter what. While he not having a shirt and no shoes looked a lot worse then Kore did. Notcing that the guy from the academy was swinging a sword that reminded him he needed to stop by the weapon shop before his fight with Tanu. He noticed Shin as well. He must have been worried last night when Karite didnt come back to the dorms. He should probably explain. Walking closer to Shin Karite began to speak. "Hey roommate! Sorry I didnt come home last night I was baby sitting for Maya. I dont think you've meet Kore yet." Karite said looking down at the little guy. "Maya told me to watch over him and his sister while she was away."
Kore sat down next to Karite looking around and noticed the giant structures with werid sqaure looking things. They werent harmful they werent even alive. They did smell funny though and tickled his nose. When Karite mentioned his name he looked up to see the boy from before, the one that was scared of him. It was quite ironic that this boy was a friend of Karites. He knew Baki would not approve of the boys behavior and Maya and Shuga would more then likely devour him. Rasing a black paw to his ear he rubbed it on his head while letting out a little yawn. Karite had had him up for quite some time now and a nap would be good but he knew Karite would not allow that. The boy was always so full of energy.

White fingers opened the doors to the library and his mind relaxed slightly although his face still remained. Still it was a place Shisei could understand. It was modest library, but it still was a library. It had books which meant he could learn more. Even if the entire island was crazy a book could not be insane. Unless the writer decided to spell things backwards and leave blank pages. That would be yet to see. He saw the dusty boy twice his height talking to Karite… who was bloodstained and bare foot. Was the barefoot- thing some type of tradition? Was there a day just for being barefoot? That was two people within the span of an hour’s half. Next people would just be going around in the nude. The other thing noticeable was a dark gold club with black paws near the silver eye child. Someone could assume that the green hair child had a liking for lions because of his shirt, but did he just find one yesterday after class? “Just what did I miss when I was out?” the Orochi child wondered. His face didn’t make any indication of awe. There was also another boy. Another one of prodigal height that was probably destined to surpass seven feet in life. He had on a yellow shirt with no sleeves that also had a familiar lightning symbol. “Just like that girl.”
He was swinging the sword around like a baboon with a stick. Not wanting to interfere with anyone at the moment. The boy decided to make his way to a seat. He passed Karite and Shinobu and the sword swinging boy to a shelf. Golden eyes had spotted a book that would look interesting to read.

Shin mentally shook his head at himself as he feebly attempted to muster up a little chakra to try and create a clone. He couldn't just jump into things like this. He had to think of the first step he had accomplished and push it further. Closing his eyes he focused first on his seals; ram, snake and tiger. As he did this he tried to focus a good amount of chakra into the seals and create a clone of himself. As his chakra swirled just as he heard a familiar voice. It made Shin jump slightly in surprise. "H-Hey!" He mustered to say in return, trying to sound just as chirpy as Karite. His attention was instantly directed to Kore and Karite introduced him. He was babysitting for Maya? That scary girl that had been covered in blood and had such a dark look about her at the festival... Karite sure was brave! "Haha, nice to meet you Kore," Shin managed to say with a dry mouth. He had just seen the lion tearing apart a rabbit in front of the academy. It had given him the chills. The lion seemed to be tame enough, sitting down next to where Karite stood and looking around. The Nara also had to admit the lion looked pretty cute when he yawned. Shin relaxed a little, but still kept on edge. "So, are you staying at the Tategami grounds then?" Shin asked curiously, wondering if Karite would ever be returning to the dorm room.

Prodo ambled into the library. He chuckled - four boys already, and one clearly Orochi. One with green hair and a lion cub...Tategami? Shuga hadn't mentioned anything about a third member of the clan in her bouts at the bar. Maybe he was just taking care of the cub, since Shuga seemed to have disappeared suddenly again. Rubbing his large stomach, he gave a small wave and cleared his throat. "Well, you all seem eager to start," he said in a humored voice, running through things in his mind. The library was relatively clean, Kurochi did a good job of that, but what could they do in here? With a soft grumble to himself, he scratched his head and shook it. "I don't think we'll do much of anything in the library - your teacher, Kurochi, has fallen ill. We'll leave the library nice and neat and take the class elsewhere. What do you guys think?" Prodo had in mind perhaps a stroll to the playground, where they could try and spot squirrels and birds in the trees. There were also a plethora of village children there, usually eating the fruit off the trees they marked, that enjoyed hanging out the back of Prodo's bar at night trying to see what the fuss was about. He could probably convince them to help with training the academy students, but other options were available too. Or maybe he'd take them back to the bar and show them a thing or two about the importance of how to mix things. He wasn't authorized to hang at the clinic for any reason, so mixing teas and other non-alcoholic beverages would be good practice for their skills anyway.

Briefly while Shin waited for Karite's answer, he noticed the door open again to bring out one of the newest students. Shin could only think of how he had trained with Tanu the other day. That single thought reminded the Nara that he hadn't seen Naoki yet today. He probably shouldn't be training like this before class if they he had plans to continue training after school today as well. The clone that Shin had formed from th ground up was pretty tasteless with pale colors, lack of facial expression and poor posture. It was just a lump of limbs lying on the floor. "Ha..." Shin sighed, dropping his hands to his sides and giving up slightly. He really needed someone to guide him in learning this genjutsu. The dusty haired boy knew that Kiba had learned the technique that day they were training with the Kage. Hadn't he learned two that day? Shin hadn't even learned one... Scratching the back of his head, he had to admire Kiba and his determination to train.
Shin's head turned around when he heard the deep voice of an adult. The clone he had been working on disappeared quickly, not really by Shin's will but by his lack of focus... For some reason, Shin really liked this old man and his round belly. With a grin on his face, Shin nodded his head. "Yea!" he said eagerly, wanting to get out of the library and do something else. Even though he was suppose to conserve most of his energy to train with Naoki later, he still wanted to see what this old man could teach. Shin had been raised to respect elders. The older they were, the wiser and more they had to teach! "Where to, sensei?" he asked, giving the old man all his attention.

Karite smiled, he knew that Shin wasnt a fan of the lions from the first time he meet him at the rice farm. So he would stay at the grounds so he could sleep in peace. "Yeah, I figured you would sleep easier if the lions werent hovering over you so I am going to stay at the grounds until then." smiling again he noticed Shisei's entrance. It seemed he was wide awake and in full force today as well. As he was about to say something to the young Orchi about his upcoming challenge with Kun' Komo' when a booming male voice entered. "I thought you'd never ask. being inside isnt really my style." Karite said kneeling down and petting Kore who he know didnt like bing inside either. "So sir, what exactly are we learning today?"
Kore turned quickly on all fours as Podo entered the startling voice threw him into defensive mode rather quickly. At first he was worried he would have to fight an enemy he could not handle but seeing the fat old man he figured he had nothing to worry about for now. Noting the man ment no harm he defrowwed his fur and let Karite pet him softly. The people of this village were all unique. They were also all strange.

Prodo laughed his jolly laugh and smiled. "Ha, I never said we might not be inside, but we'll see what looks like a good place to teach you a few things on the way there. Maybe we'll make a stop, though," he chuckled, turning and walking out of the library, standing outside for a moment before debating where to go and what to do. He did think that mixing drinks would be the most fun, since mixing them wrong produced horrible results that were either too watery or too strong. And usually, the mixers learned that the hard way when either they themselves tasted them, or when their customers threw the glasses at their heads. Of course, they wouldn't be serving customers, though...he could make them make drinks for the other half of their class. Old he might have been, but Prodo knew that somewhere, the girls had to be learning something. And if he assumed correctly, it wouldn't be anything physical. He decided, then, that the boys would do something productive, something that most people didn't think about - they would collect information. Not being sneaky and spying, mind you...no, Prodo had something far more sinister in mind...especially because one of them had a lion cub present...

Shisei decided to put the book back when he heard the bellow of a loud man. His voice had stated that class would be held at another location. Well so much for reading. As long as the lesson was fundamental the serpent youth did not mind. Nothing sissy like knitting or wearing kimonos. Without any words Shisei passed his peers and followed the man out of the library.

Karite didn’t say anything he just stood up and began to walk behind Podo, but his silver eyes seemed to gleam with happiness. All these books were overwhelming. Karite was not one to study but looking at the people around him he knew he would have to be sharp on all fronts if he was ever going to graduate on time. Spinning in circle slowly he tried to get the feeling of falling out of his system. He hated books more than Tanu which was definitely saying something. He had hoped he wouldn’t run into too much thinking here but looking at Hana and Serena he knew he would have to hit the books sometime. He might sneak in later tonight and get his red on when everyone else was sleep. Who better to break in and out without leaving a trace then the master thief? Smiling at his silly little thoughts Karite opened the door letting Kore go first before walking through himself.
Kore felt strange inside. All the smells in the room were condensed into one place and everything around him seem to close compared to the freedom outside. Confinement like this would drive him made. How humans did were beyond him. Beginning to get restless he shifted his paws in place hoping that they would leave soon. The smell of the old musty books was driving him crazy and the fact he saw nothing that could give off the smell of prey excited him even more. Beginning to whine he remembered what Shuga had told him. Stopping immediately he stood firm although in his mind he was panicking. As Karite moved Kore settled as he noticed the door opened and a rush of blizzard air came rushing in giving the familiar smell of nature.

"Thanks," Shin said with a large sigh as Karite explained the situation with watching the lions and staying at the grounds to him. While living with the caravan, Shin had always been frightened by mountain lions, wolves and the like. Living side by side with the beasts was definitely a change of pace for the boy. It would take some getting used it, but Shin would try not to act like a spineless coward every time he saw one. Falling in line behind Karite and Shisei, Shin turned back to Kiba. "Comin'?" he asked with a smile on his face as he too headed out the door to wherever the old fat man would bring them.

Kiba had become so engrossed in his sword swinging that he had completely spaced out to the world around him. In fact, he probably could have died and would not have noticed it until he had already spent several hours on the other side. It was because of this that he did not notice everyone enter and leave the library. Most embrassing of all, however, was his complete obliviousness to Shin's repeatedly talking to him. It was not until Shin asked if Kiba was coming that the young Raiken finally snapped out of it and put his wooden weapon away. Unfortunately he only knew that the class had left and did not know to where. "Dang it!" Kiba cried as he turned a rather embarrassed expression came over his face. As he realized that he was alone he hung his head and slowly left the library hoping that he might find where everyone else was, though he was rather nervous about being so late.
