Ezeoha could remember back to a time when he was as happy as he was at this very moment. Of course, that happiness with Chinara had not lasted, but he was sure that this one would. Ezeoha had a new litter of cubs on the way, with a female who was sweet and kind. Nothing could make the gold pridelander happier than the knowledge that he had cubs coming. They were what brightened his life, kept it from reaching a state of dull nothingness. Cubs were so full of life, so innocent and sweet. It was a side of Ezeoha that other Pridelanders oftentimes failed to see, because his obvious love for the ladies seemed to outshine his love for children. The truth of the matter was that if cubs weren't a part of being with females, Ezeoha would not so openly seek out their company. Females were wonderful in themselves, but the life they could bring into the world made everything about them more special, something to cherish.

Ezeoha definitely cherished his women.

The gold lion stretched at the entrance of his den, his jaws opening in a gaping yawn. Shaking off the last vestiges of sleep, he walked into the depths of the Pridelands. Usually he hung around the outskirts, preferring a less populated area to raise his children. Constantly he brung them nearer to Pride Rock to play with cubs their age, but when it came to settling down at night he liked the peace and quiet. The only exception to that was the sound of his children's voices, their sleepy sighs and wiggling around to get into a comfortable spot. It was simply Ezeoha's preference to raise his children away from the center of the Pridelands.

Today, though, he brought himself alone into the depths of the Pridelands, Pride Rock looming overhead him. The golden lion was simply seeking company, because he honestly was an attention whore, and could only go so long without company, female or male. So, he was searching for someone familiar, a family member or an old friend. Of course, meeting someone new was always at the top of his list, especially if said new person was a female.

A song was in her heart, though already she felt the pangs of nostalgia. Her most recent litter was once again grown, not overnight of course, but somehow it just felt official as of late. Would she be able to experience the joys of motherhood again one day? Tai couldn't help but wonder.

But today, today was not about mourning, nor was her children's growth even. Today, every day, was about making the most of life. Having already given her story for that afternoon she was free to have some time alone. Maybe she'd stop by the watering hole to sun by the water for a while. Oh, the sun would do her bones good, old? ... Perhaps a little, but still in her prime, even if the late days of it. She still had life left in her, years and years of life. Tai smiled to herself at that. It was spotting a golden pelt at the base of Pride rock that she finally came out of her own reverie as her vibrant, pristine colored figure had started down the "steps" of Pride rock.

"Good afternoon." She greeted with a gentle rumble, not sure if the younger male would be in the middle of something or if he'd fancy some company.

One reason he loved the Pridelands:

The beautiful women.

His gaze was captured by a nearly pure white form headed in his direction. He smiled when he realized it was an older lioness, but being older than him did not effect her beauty in any way. Ezeoha found her gorgeous, and though he had satisfied his craving to be in female company earlier, he could not help but feel the pangs of his need for simple female company growing in him. Ezeoha could not deny the opportunity to have some harmless (or not so harmless) flirtations, but he decided from the get-go not to be too forward. He simply wanted some to talk to as well, and so flirting with her too obviously would endanger his chances at being able to simply hang around her. So long as his mouth listened to his brain, he imagined he would have an enjoyable time with Tai.

"Good afternoon," he replied in a polite tone, no evidence of his flirtatious nature visible at the moment. "I'm Ezeoha, and I wouldn't mind having some company right about now. My cubs have all grown up and moved out, so I find myself lonely often." Of course, loneliness could be cure for a night or so by lovely female company, but he wasn't exactly expecting that with Tai. Somehow, to him, she seemed more pure, someone that deserved to be treated right. He couldn't just blandly and bluntly flirt with her - that wouldn't work. It had to be subtle, almost light-hearted. Ezeoha could do that.

"I see. It is a bit sad when the fledglings leave the nest, isn't it? But perhaps soon you'll be granted the joy of grand-cubs in their place, as I have recently been." She smiled, the expression so joyful that it almost split her face with more of a grin, but not quite. She stopped as she drew alongside the male at the base of the stairs, tail calmly, accidentally dusting the last step in a soft sweep. Tai wasn't materialistic by any means, but part of who she was was appreciating the beauty in the world, from nature to her fellow creatures. Ezeoha was no exception with his striking golden pelt, and even more daring red eyes. A thought occured. "Ah... Ezeoha! You wouldn't happen to be Mosi's friend, would you?"

She never lost an ounce of friendliness from her smile. She was a storyteller, but perhaps what most people didn't realize about storytellers was that part of their business was being nosy. Tai didn't exactly GOSSIP, but she did partake in conversation often, keeping close tabs on her family now that she had one.

"You're nearly the spitting image of your grandfather..." Her smile grew a little sad around the eyes but somehow still more joyful. Mufasa had been the one to welcome her into the lands, and it was his daughter who had appointed her, granted her her current title. It was a compliment, in her eyes, to be compared to such a lion, such a king, even if only in appearance (She didn't know him personally yet after all.). "But I'm being rude, I apologize. My name is Tai, I'm the storyteller, and one of the nannies. I'm lucky enough to have children to watch after always."

Ezeoha had a similar appreciation of beauty, but that beauty centered around females, and though it wasn't realized by many, he treated females with respect. She was gorgeous, and so if he was going to flirt, he was going to flirt cautiously. "Oh, I do hope for grandcubs one day. I think my most likely prospect is my eldest daughter. My youngest son, sadly, is nothing like me, and so I am almost doubting he'll ever have kids of his own. He's sweet, but he doesn't need cubs of his own to be happy. He's helping a female raise over six cubs currently." He was proud of Shaji, really, even if his son would never follow in his legacy. Ezeoha was fine with that. He wouldn't pressure Shaji into being someone he clearly wasn't. Ezeoha would have more children, and it was likely that one of them would eventually turn out to be like their father.

"Oh? Yes, I am a friend of Mosi's." He smiled at the thought of his friend, and at the memory of countless times of him flirting with her as a cub. He was glad that she had settled down with someone (though his ego may have been crushed a little by not succeeding in wooing her). "I am assuming that you know her, then?" Of course Tai knew her, he was just curious as to how she knew Mosi.

"Thank you," he said warmly, greatly appreciating the compliment. He had been told countless times that he resembled Mufasa, but naturally he knew that he did not resemble the great lion personality-wise. It was only appearances, but that was enough for him. "No, you're not being rude. It's a pleasure to meet you, Tai. I'm just your average hunter, but I'm happy with my position. I have my own den out further in the Pridelands, and I can raise my cubs in peace. It's enough for me."

"You may be surprised...." Her smile definitely became a grin at that, a secretive little one. "The youngest son of my first litter here was the first to make me a grandparent. Quite a surprise, he's about as childish as they come usually. And now, again. You might just get grandchildren yet from someone you least expect."

A friendly smile, and she remained relaxed, for now unaware of his intentions.

"Yes, Mosi is more or less my second niece, the granddaughter of my friend, and until recently my sister. It's a complicated family line, it's probably best not to get into it too much. It even makes my head spin, and I'm the third oldest in the lot." She chuckled, wondering. "I'm not holding you up from something, am I, Ezeoha?"

"In all honesty, as long as I get grandcubs, I'm rather happy. I adore having my own cubs, but mooching children off of my children for a few hours is not beyond me." He chuckled smoothly then, obviously thinking that he was never going to get grandchildren from Shaji. Uzalishaji was too soft hearted, and likely would never seek that out of a relationship. He'd have to end up with a strong female, a female who wanted cubs and would make it known to her mate. Of course, Ezeoha was entertaining the hope that his son would settle down with that brown lady of his with the seven cubs. "I don't think I would mind being surprise, I suppose. In fact, I think I would rather enjoy being surprised." Sineri too, one of his daughters, was likely to find a lifelong mate in Tetemeko. Ezeoha wouldn't be surprised, and was already dropping hints at the mostly white male lion to get his daughter knocked up. He wasn't being an overprotective father at all, and instead was encouraging Tete along.

"It's already making my head spin," he admitted with a chuckle. "I'll just settle with knowing that you and Mosi are related." At her next question, he shook his head, and giving her a warm smile replied sincerely. "No, you're not. I'd much rather be in your company right now than anyone else's. I'm enjoying talking with you." It was the lightest, subtlest of flirtations, so much so that it could even not be considered flirtations. He was simply letting the white lioness know that he was enjoying her company, and would like to enjoy it further. He didn't expect her to catch on, and instead expected her to carry on the conversation as she normally would. Ezeoha wasn't delving too seriously into his flirtations, because he genuinely liked Tai, and didn't want to do anything that would make her upset at him.

That did not mean he didn't want her. Because he did. He was just being a good boy for now.

"Well aren't you quite the charmer?" Tai innocently teased, smiling coyly as she slipped past, tail swaying close to his legs but not touching as she moved along. Perhaps you wouldn't mind helping me with a hunt, then, and perhaps some company at the watering hole or the river after?"

She seemed inviting, not too hopeful, more like confident, as if sure that he'd accept. She was.

He was genuinely surprised by her response, but that was shortly followed by pleasure that kept the surprise from showing on his face. Already he was enjoying his time with Tai, and with a chuckle he replied to her in a warm voice, "I like to fancy myself as charming most of the time." His gaze watched her intently, the pristine white body move past him, the swaying of her tail so close to him. When she asked him to join her on a hunt, his mind instantly jumped to a different kind of hunt he was more interested in pursuing. Of course, he couldn't assume that her mind had gone in the same direction. He hadn't really been able to discern what Tai was like from their few minutes of conversation. She was still an enigma to him, and that was what made her all the more intriguing. When he replied to her, his voice had once again taken on that subtly seductive tone. Yet again he hadn't really intended it, which showed just how far his body was getting ahead of his mind. It was going to be difficult to keep himself straight.

She was right in assuming that he would consent to coming with her, for he stood up then, and came up to walk beside her. His body was held close to her's, not close enough, but definitely close enough to say that he was interested without Ezeoha coming right out and saying it. All he wanted to see was her reaction, if she was interested too. He half expected she wouldn't be. "I wouldn't mind helping you out at all. It would be my pleasure to come along with, and definitely take a drink afterwards with you." Like hell he was letting her out of his sight now, not when he was hooked and definitely interested.

"Hmm..." Was her only answer to his reply on being charming. She didn't mind his confidence in the least bit, and in fact suspected that she might just be reading this male right. Maybe... they shared a common interest, a common love in parenting, just as she and Matifu had, and the result had been five beautiful new children to raise. Maybe Ezeoha would be interested in starting a new family together, to raise. "Ezeoha, I hope you don't think me rude in asking but, you don't carry yourself as one attached to another. Haven't you a mate?" It wasn't an odd question. So many in these lands did, even her own children, but there were those rare ones who didn't take any one mate for love, but for the same joy of parenting, or in some cases simply for the joy of practicing it. She was purposely a bit withdrawn right now, because she didn't like being too forward when it came to physical flirtations and she wasn't sure that he was or wasn't spoken for, but a young male like Ezeoha, she was sure he'd probably sire fine cubs, and he seemed willing.

Still, she had to know she wasn't just picking any father at random. She'd known Matifu by acquaintance, but Ezeoha she'd just met. He seemed kind and sane but, a bit more conversing wouldn't hurt. Who, after all, knew the signs of lunacy better than a former violent schizophrenic herself?

Ezeoha was content to answer her questions, because it seemed as if she needed these answers in order to go forward with what could be a nice rendezvous together. Her question wasn't anything he wouldn't find himself answering, and he didn't see it as rude in the least. "No, I don't think you rude. But, no, I don't have a mate. Sadly, I do not think I can stay attached to one female at my age. I have a bunch of cubs though, if that counts for anything," he finished with a smile. He didn't think she needed to know he had another litter on the way, or at least he was sure that he was. Ezeoha loved children, and being able to make more was what he lived for. Even with one litter on the way, he desired for another, and if Tai wanted it... he'd gladly offer up his services. She was a lioness he could enjoy having cubs with, and he suspected that she would not chase him away from her children. It would almost be like having two parents, except that Ezeoha would continue with his ways, and perhaps have even more cubs. The thought made him smile, because he honestly didn't believe he had a limit. He would gladly raise twenty cubs at a time... with some aid, of course.

He smiled at her, now posing a question of his own to her. "Could I ask in kind if you have a mate? Surely as fine a lady as yourself would have one. I can't see someone so beautiful without someone to love her every day. But, then again, you have cubs to love you. Why would you need anyone else?" He was probably being rude in asking, but she had asked him the same question, and seeing as how he had answered her... he could only expect an answer in return. It was only fair.

Tai chuckled softly, it was almost motherly, but not quite, weathered, if anything. Age and experience had... well, somewhat jaded her, but this was a simple matter of remembering the days when such a compliment hidden within such a comment would have sent her a-fluster with embarrassment. Now she just took them in stride and thought how amusing to be flattered at her "age", at least by comparison to Ezeoha's.

"Such a smooth tongue you have... No, I haven't a mate of my own. I doubt if I'd find that special someone before my time came." There had been one, but, he had another in his life and they simply weren't meant to be. At the time she'd been a different lioness, and he was a friend in a time of need for her. She'd not change it for anything, she treasured his friendship much more dearly, after all, especially now. "My loves are my children and my stories, the funny thing about growing 'old' alone is that it's not as lonely as when you're younger. To me, at least. If there are stories for me to hear and cubs at heart and cubs in form to share them with, then that's all that I need in my life. I've more than enough adventure and drama to last three lifetimes." Her tail flicked definitively as she closed her reply. A gorgeous day like today? Her scar wasn't even bothering her in the least which to her was a sure sign that no unexpected turns in weather would sour the Earth's mood.

"Thanks, I've had practice," he said with a warm chuckle, giving her a flirtatious wink that only implied as to how much practice he had. It was a promise of sorts, if she allowed him to go that far with her. Ezeoha wouldn't dissapoint, and if it was cubs she wanted, he could gladly give her some. "Hmm, but I wouldn't think so pessimistically, Tai. Maybe there's someone out there for you, and even if you have all the happiness you need from raising cubs and telling stories, there's always more happiness to be had. Even I hope to one day settle down with a female, though right now that would be a hopeless venture." He chuckled softly, "I'm too free-spirited right now. I couldn't keep myself grounded with a woman. I'd end up having an affair... because I really can't resist the idea of having more cubs, and with one female you have to wait until your cubs are adult before having more... It would drive me insane. I need those little faces constantly. I'd miss them. I miss them now."

He knew that she desired cubs, and she knew that he desired them as well... Now all that was needed from them was some sort of consensus, an agreement to do something that would make them both happy. There would be cubs in the end... and Ezeoha was looking more forward to that than the actual making of cubs (though he'd enjoy it too). The golden lion, though, was waiting patiently for her to make the move. He had shown her what he wanted, and now she either had to accept or reject him.

"It's paid off." Tai agreed with a gentle smile, finally pausing as they reached a proverbial fork in the road. From here the choices were simple and clear. It was obvious that they both had some other things weighing much more heavily on their minds than hunting or bathing.

Glancing back, Tai caught Ezzy's eye as she paused by the invisible split in their path.

On the one hand, he was honest about himself, but on the other, it seemed almost too willing, too honest. Tai wasn't looking for commitment, however, she also wanted a good role model for any potential cubs that he might or might not want to spend time around.

"To each their own paths, Ezeoha, and far be it for me to judge your decision. It's more than most males would dare admit to, however... if this unspoken..... understanding, we'll call it, is to work, and if you intend to still be around after we've hashed out this understanding, then I want to be clear on a few things."

She hadn't really become stern or strict, she still kept a gentle tone of voice, but she clearly meant for him to decide here and now.

"Any children of mine, I expect to grow with a respect for others, be they of the opposite sex or not. They must make their own choices in time, but I don't want them growing to think that it's acceptable to simply move on from mate to mate just to make more children, with no regard to the other's feelings. You don't strike me as that sort, but young minds, by which I mean young adult minds, are easily impressed by the behaviors around them from childhood and on..."

She waited quietly for his response, curious, would he understand what she meant to say? Would he take offense and leave? She didn't mean to insult his character, but she did want to point out that just because THEY had been around the block and understood where they stood, didn't mean impressionable youth would. She didn't want them misconstruing what would be said or done in or out of their presence. If he could agree to those terms, then, they very well might as well drop the charade.

His charm and his good looks had definitely paid off for him in previous encounters, but he didn't think that it would be enough to pay off in this one. He had to have something more, something that she wanted from him. A good moral character? Personality? He could not really figure out what it was that she desired from him, but he would do his best to give her it. Of course he wanted more cubs, and of course he could not turn out the opportunity to be with a beautiful lioness. Ezeoha was still young, and still a little reckless. He hadn't been denied often, though he was sure he would take it in kind if she did not choose him. They still had a lovely day ahead, and they could hunt together and Ezeoha could believe his time not to be wasted. He did enjoy her company, even if he had ulterior motives.

He blinked in surprise when she stated that they had a few things to sort out, because honestly nothing like this had happened to him. His other interactions with females had been more... spontanenous. This one seemed planned, and Ezeoha had never been made to understand what would happen afterwards. Things just... happened to him. This did not mean, though, that he wasn't willing to listen. Ezeoha, at this point, would do quite a lot to be able to be with Tai. She was a fine lioness, and it did not go against his morals to say that he was attracted to her.

Sadly, what Tai was telling him to do was something he had not done in previous litters. Of course, his only intention back then was to show them that life was more... fun than they could have imagined. For his efforts, though, none of his children had really turned out like him, and he didn't know whether to be amused by it or not. Tai's demands, though, would not be hard for him to follow. He'd just have to watch himself around the children, and even around his other litter he would watch himself. If he slipped up in one place, he could slip up in another. Ezeoha didn't think that this was beyond his capabilities, and being far from insulted he smiled. "I understand, Tai. I wouldn't try to put the impression on the children that they can do what I do." There was no reason for him to get insulted by her question, she was looking for a good male to sire her cubs, and she had her right to be picky and demanding.

But, now that he was sure that they understood one another... surely they could move on and get to making those children.
