Savanna glided in a circle, enjoying the feel of the breeze on her wings. The sharp whispers crept between the feathers and tickled her skin. Her main whipped and curled as the air currents lifted the braided strands. She moved her wings ever so slightly, and caught a thermal to bring her up to altitude. It was still spring and so the ground below was not creating the pockets of hot air that she liked so much, but the mountains... oh, the mountains were kinder.

The mare kicked out a leg childishly and then started a sharp descent towards the ground for the sheer pleasure of it. The wind whisked by her faster and faster, and it wasn't until she was just low enough that she snapped her wings open and barrel-rolled over the ground only to pump her wings and gain some altitude.

Her self-dance continued until she was quite winded, and then Savanna glided gently down and folded her luminescent wings to her side. The mare walked to the stream she had seen so close and dipped her head down for a short drink. Pleased, the mare sighed deeply and watched the minnows swim around in the water.

Long had the landscape guided Cheveyo's wanderings as he allowed the naturaly winding paths of a rocky clifface, a rough dirt trail, a crystal-clear stream - anything he saw fit to lead the way. It didn't bother him any to be so far from 'home' as he equally felt at home in far-off and isolated places. On this particular day, the stallion had taken to a lovely little patch of greenery below the treeline that appeared to be sprouting the first sweet fruits of spring in the form of juicy green foliage. The waterside it seemed, was a mecha of fine dining to a soquili and he found himself lounging about along its shore for most of the day.

If not for the flicker of shadow crossing the shimmering waters infront of his nose, he would have never noticed the impressive display above his head as he had knelt for mouthful of sweet grass. At first he wondered long and hard what species of bird was so incredibly nimble and colourful in the particular climate surrounding the area. Its joyful dance was hard to follow from the ground with his soft brown eyes and he eventually felt very foolish when he realized the true nature of the creature. It was lithe and graceful, coloured but subtle in its patterning. He could see some blues, teals perhaps, the faint flicker of a sandy-coloured tail. For lack of better words he was captivated as he found himself swaying to dodge the canopy of trees above his head that threatened to cause him to lose sight.

The paint stallion became startled however, when he realized the beautiful "bird" was diving at an impossible speed, only to have his gut clench in nervousness just as she avoided the ground with extreme dexterity. He would have continued his silent gazing if not for the sudden landing of the stranger. She was merely meters from where he stood whether she knew it or not, and the soquili froze stiff in mid-chew at the proximity.

Savanna's hair prickled on the back of her neck. She had the intense impression that something was watching her. Tearing her gaze from the minnows, the mare lifted her head and looked around. The tips of her mane closest to her face dripped water. Savanna saw her the culprit, and from the look on his face thought that either he had never seen a Wind before or he had seen her spectacle. And she was willing to bank on the second one.

With a smile and a toss of her head, the mare pranced over in welcome. "So, are you impressed or just happy to se me?" Savanna stopped right across from the stallion and looked up just a bit, as he was taller than her. Her bright eyes impishly glinted as she awaited an answer, and when it didn't come just quick enough for her, the mare reached forward and took some of those dangling greens from right out of his mouth.

Cheveyo stood dumbfounded with a the widest-eyed expression he could muster. As expected, he had no clever retort for the mare who seemed to take amusement in his embarrassment more than he had expected, seeing as she was the one who had been caught in the act, per se. Then again, there was no shame in playing at any age of life. With that thought, the stallion felt even more shameful as he realized had carelessly acted as a peeping tom.

As the mare leaned close to teasingly n** the grass from his mouth, he nearly keeled in embarrassment. He nodded for the lack of better words to express his thoughts, unclear of which scenario he was actually agreeing to. Realizing that she may derive the wrong impression of the mute stallion, he managed to finally cough up a response. "I mean. Oh dear. I didn't mean to spy. I apologize, that wasn't right." The paint stallion broke eye contact and stared down at a reed that drifted in the breeze besides the water's edge. It seemed much more safe a target for his eyes at the moment. With a nervous cough, he pressed on. "I've met other Winds before but I must admit, that was very.. uh... impressive. A display. Yes. You're very talented." Could he run off and hide in a hole now?

Savanna puffed up at the compliments, much like a true bird might, but when the stallion dropped his gaze, she literally ducked down and her face blocked the reeds that he was looking at so intently. "Aw, what's this now? A dance is not as appreciated unless there are others to see its moves. While I did not realize I had an audience, I cannot say I would prefer to dance alone."

She tried to convince with subtle body-language cues the stallion to stand high and be proud, though she found his child-like embarassment quite endearing...which probably meant she wasn't going to let him just 'get away'.

"Here!" Savanna reached back and plucked multi-toned feather from her wing. Its color changed depending on the light angle. Before he could object, the mare reached up and deftly tied the feather among the others in his mane. And when she stepped back again, she had a wide smile on her face. "A token, no?"

Cheveyo flinched in surprise as the persistent mare vowed for his attention as if she was hell-bent on not letting him focus on anything else but her at the moment. He stared at her curiously but was unable to mask a smile. Her cheerfulness was infectious. "That's true, I guess." The stallion chuckled still with a hint of nervousness though he was beginning to enjoy playing along.

The paint soquili watched intently as the mare plucked off one of her own feathers, dazzled by the colours but somewhat upset that she would mar the beauty of her facade for no good reason. He stiffened and winced suddenly as she approached again, twining the colourful adornment into his mane with the rest of his 'collection'. Once he'd realized what she'd done, he visibly relaxed. Straining to see the pretty addition, he marvelled at the variety of colour it add to his drab two-toned hair and smiled brightly yet again. "Thank you! It's... beautiful!" He thanked her with warm admiration at the gift, forgetting that they were two strangers newly met. "I'm sorry, I'm being silly." He apologized again compulsively. "My name's Cheveyo. And you...?" He inclined his head with youthful curiousity now bold enough to turn his eyes on her again.

"I am Savanna," the mare nodded, ruffling her feathers before letting them settle once again. "Miss Savanna," she emphasized, making sure he understood that she was not tied down by any one stallion.

And with that, she siddled up close to Cheveyo, "Why, thank you, I always thought they were.... but gifts do not go very freely, do they?" Savanna looked into his eyes suggestively as she grinned broadly.

"How about a dance?" She nodded to herself and continued, "yes, I think a dance would be a fair trade for such a token!"

Cheveyo nodded understandingly though the understanding it seemed was not the correct one. "Miss Savanna." He reaffirmed, thinking that the mare simply preferred the title attached to her name so as a sign of respect the stallion would adhere to her wishes. As the wind mare closed the distance, the paint soquili smiled and abruptly let out a nervous chuckle. This mare was very... different. He hadn't met anyone oozing with such playfulness and life for a long time, it was very refreshing - yet he seemed at a loss with how to react to such strong... advancements. He had to admit though, there was something very appealing about it all.

"Dance?" The male dumbly repeated, wondering what exactly the flirtatious mare had in mind. Cheveyo was neither as graceful or talented as other soquili, let alone a Wind. "I can't really dance though, I mean..." The flustered stallion shyly arched his neck but refused to take his eyes off the beautiful mare now from behind his untamed black-and-white forelock. After a moment a somewhat boldly sly smile played across his features before he responded. "Besides, I could never replicate such an impressive display like yours from the ground."

Savanna flipped her mane when he called her 'miss' with the wrong inflection in the voice. Ah stallions, they could be so dense sometimes. But she still liked his almost naive and childish nature. Yes, she liked it a lot.

As Cheveyo looked at her from under his own locks, she couldn't help but preen some more. She was a performer, an entertainer, and she knew when the audience was with her.

"Well," she circled him coyly and slowly. "I think everyone can dance, even those who cannot fly. Why, even birds sometimes come to land to court another. And birds have some of the most extravagant rituals associated with their dances."

Savanna stopped in front of him again. "So, we should just teach you... to dance! I wasn't always able to fly, you know," she winked and took the first step forward to the music that played in her mind.

Cheveyo nodded agreeingly, convinced that he was somewhat following the path of the conversation well enough. Her example of birds wasn't helping however, seeing as the airborne creatures seemed to share more in common with her than himself. Regardless, the stallion was determined to disregard the differences. "Dezba did say I have grace..." The paint soquili encouraged himself as he stared down at his hooves in wonderment. "She also called me a clumsy ox." He mumbled in addition before glancing over at the much more dainty, slender hooves of the mare. "Well, I'll humor you."

He chuckled lightheartedly, but for a moment he wondered if he was digging himself a grave.

Savanna chuckled as she came closer and closer. "Well, now - a way to a mare's heart is not through the words of another. So.... we'll just pretend 'Dezba' didn't say anything and let me be the judge, yes?" The mare siddled close and nuzzled his neck. "So, we shall begin," Savanna let go of a strand of mane that she nibbled on.

"So," the mare began, "for a beat/rythm that we can follow, listen to your heart beat. Can you feel it?" Savanna poked her nose to his chest and nudged him there, trying to find his heartbeat to 'match' her own to. Her short tail swished in time with what she felt.
